Great episode. I can listen to Scotto ramble about anything. Can’t wait for the podcasts. RUclips was out of hand w/ ad insertions. I was getting a five second ad every three minutes. But I don’t expect the show to profit from this.
Nice one, boys! I have to say I have been thinking about that vr6 corolla since whenever that sub series started on hoonigan. Please finish it for the 10 of us in the old V.W./old Toyota ven diagram hole😅
If anyone knows where to find that news story (or clip) where Scotto mentioned the barbed wire being pulled along, it'd be cool to see. Story is around the 2:16:00 mark
White Rock, America's oldest mixer company, "creating authentic, high-quality, great-tasting mixers and craft sodas for over 150 years." They had enough money to advertise on television in the NY metro area back in the day, but I'm old. Still in business.
With the changes to stability and the algorithm, I think the massive groups/company channels are going to continue to become rarer and rarer. With audience backed content we'll see more niche channels with a strong 10k-100k following that will support them as they create. Being small will be necessary to survive
I love the ideas that Scotto talks about and I really look forward to what comes from them. I totally agree that the algorithm is not feeding people exactly what they want to see. Also his comment of Vinnie's cars not doing well, but being very subtle and nuanced builds is exactly how I build my cars. It's always hard to explain to people why I do the things that I do to my cars because it's rarely flashy outside of some nice wheels.
re: the "over the top" builds needing to be more and more insane, I think about Jake the Snake's interview in the the WWF special about being on the road 250 days and then "going home to his wife".
1:33:00 It's so nice to see Vinnie do well, he's very likeable and his content is cool. It's just mostly relatable to me at all, but that generally most of internet car content as drive an old Prius and have zero money to do anything :D I'm in it mostly for the aesthetics and just nice personalities like Scotto or a ton of Donut folks like BigTime, who left just as I got into Donut after Hoonigan fell through....after I had just gotten into their builds etc.
1:34:00 If you act like a TV show or a mall full of adverts shoving stuff in the face of people... they'll shy away. If you just live life and do what you enjoy... but allow a look through the "letterbox" into your life... they'll look in. "American choppers" versus "Can I fix grandads bike in my shed?"
Dude Matt. You are a lefty. Haha I am a lefty to. I just realized that when you put notes in your pad. Ignore the jackasses on the internet. I always like to say there is no shortage of assholes and idiots on this planet. Cheers man! I really enjoy your shows. All of them.
I need to hire some cops to shut down the road for a car meet at the dealership to ask them where tf I’m supposed to go to enjoy my cars in the middle of the night… Cause boy have we not been getting along lately. Always gone an hour plus away from my home city and ruined my sleep schedule to make sure I’m not putting others in danger and still get shafted by officers just for cruising.
If they ever bring back the old nokia 3310 or Razr v3but use todays battery technology I’d ditch my iPhone immediately. Also need an iPod classic 7th gen with Bluetooth and 5g so you can still use a streaming app. I just miss pushing actual buttons
I subscribed to road and track at the beginning of the year and have yet to actually receive a magazine. Their support changed something about delivery and extended my subscription, but I still haven't received a mag.
The time for an in studio Sim rig is now, it’s enough of a new sport, the technology is at a point where it’s high quality and accessible l, and you can have every guest set a lap time in a standard car and track.
Stat of the day: when Stroll bought Aston Martin, the stock was 43 cents a share with a buying ban for unqualified investors (i.e. you couldn't buy the stock because it was expected to go bankrupt). It is currently $101.40/share. That's how you make billions into mega billions
45:00 This is what made YT a huge bummer for me to use. 99% of my usage is on a computer, always has been, so I subbed to people I enjoyed watching. Then YT decided not to deliver videos to subscribers for some reason and subbing just lost its meaning to me. Now it's mostly just the front page feed, but still a lot of it is people whom I do subscribe to, but a lot if it is just people I don't even bother subbing to cause it makes no difference to me. Which is sad, cause their stuff might just stop ending up on my feed and I wouldn't even notice. I would prefer the people I support to have a steady structure and not this random tower in the rough winds. So many people are on the verge of burn-out, even the super small creators who'd like to change their content just a bit, but YT will punish them for it. One streamer I follow did that and their new stuff gets almost no views as all of their subs don't get served the videos they make, based on a small sample not doing well after them pushing the video out. So they had to make a new channel altogether for the new content. Fucking annoying.
Um, I subscribed to Road and Track, Car and Driver and MotorTrend and have never received an issue in the mail from any of them. I subscribed in June 2024.
Top gear meant having a BBC licence (unless you wanna take the chance which we won't go into) which was £180/year so practically a subscription service like Netflix, it's been dying for 10 years as the people that did watch TV for Eastenders all died of old age/covid, Top Gear was the last reason to stay. I haven't watched TV in 20 years as I've had internet since 1999.
love you both. I still haven't decided if I can go back to try to skip scotto eating in the microphone. I'm sorry, its unbearable though to have your my ear with that
I feel like nascar people are so against hatchbacks and small engines and hybrids to like rally even though everything else about the sport I think they would like
I dropped off F1 in like the early 00s. It just got too boring. I kinda hate how much it is about the drivers. Haven't watched a race in decades and I used the be the 4am person as well rooting for the Finns in the Mika Häkkinen and Mika Salo era. In the mid 90s, I had a Nokia 2010 brick phone with Mika Salo's autograph :D
Wheel Pros bought Hoonigan. After some time they changed the name of the main company to Hoonigan and declared bankruptcy. The Hoonigan that everyone knows is not who racked up the massive debt. It’s the private equity company that bought them.
Ready to defend this title when needed!
Tyson v Scotto 2025!
Come get it Lieberman HAHAHA
With Zack for the 5hr marathon plz 🙏

@@andrewy3711 I absolutely agree! Especially if it was about modifying older audis. I feel like that stuff is hard to find

Hell yes! As soon as I heard him mention that, I was like lets go!!

As a European I’ve never heard of Brian Scotto so curious to see how this pans out. Commenting early for the algo in case I fall asleep!
3 hour scotto interview thank you tst
Excellent pod, closing in on ep 1000
Man I'm so glad to see Scotto getting back into automotive content
Me too!!! 🎉
Scotto needs to be on the regular guest rotation. This episode was awesome and the chemistry between Matt and Scotto was amazing.
Awesome. Love Scotto. Hope he's doing real well.

Scotto and all the OG Hoonigans guys are my heros.

The length of a guest's podcast is proportional to the time it takes to change a timing belt on their car ...
So for an Audi boy, this was short 🤣

What a great, great show. Missed Zach and hope all is well with him.
re: the "over the top" builds needing to be more and more insane, I think about Jake the Snake's interview in the the WWF special about being on the road 250 days and then "going home to his wife".
Well now we have to have Johnny and Scotto on together and go for 6 hours.

When is the Scotto Woodworking channel dropping? lol
I'm one of the casual fans of hoonigan but this was a really interesting listen
Awesome show.
So Doug Demuros 3:05 doesnt count? I mean, I will take almost 3 hours of content from any guest cause there is no bad guests that last that long.
Yeah I'm surprised they forgot about Doug's given it wasn't too long ago, and that they didn't set any time records with Jonny's episode
2:59 without Ads, but still likely had the record prior
Ah, forgot to account for ads, I guess there could be a lot of ads on Doug's video.
Yeah dudes, I live about 45 mins from Diggerland in the UK and it's epic. Defo built for dads as much as kids

Thanks!
What a great episode, blew bye

Me too. Blame Zack.
Scotto you for got you wrote for PVW

You just described the Nokia G42 5g smartphone.
Hey guys, how about the BIG BIG podcast with 3 or 4 guests (Brian, Lieberman, Cammisa, Demuro). at least Join Brian and Jhonny
This episode is great. This two need to cook somenthing up together

Watch Doug come in and challenge for the title
Hoonigan dropped the bag, and that was because it wasn't clearly understood as IP. It's a sad loss, and follows an even sadder loss of KB
Hoonigan didn’t drop the bag. The private equity firm that bought them did.
scotto comments @ 2:13:08 that f1 audience is more elite.. maybe thats in the US, but 90% of the dutch verstappen fans are basicly nascar type fans
Yeah, I was referring to the US audience. Europe is a very different demographic as a whole when it comes to motorsports.
@@brian_scotto Probably just because it's so damn expensive in the US still. Maybe when the newness wears off and prices come down, it will change.
The time for an in studio Sim rig is now, it’s enough of a new sport, the technology is at a point where it’s high quality and accessible l, and you can have every guest set a lap time in a standard car and track.

hi matt! so youtube these days is where you go to look for content after you found on tik tok something to look for ( i'm younger xD )

is Scotto related to Jimmy Kimmel???? am i the only one who sees this?
This was an every-day observation on Hoonigan videos back in the day. I don’t see it, but also would love to do a video with Kimmel for the lolz.
I dropped off F1 in like the early 00s. It just got too boring. I kinda hate how much it is about the drivers. So....is (was) Hoonigan going bankrupt, or was it the company that bought/took over?
Hoonigan itself wasn't spending $1.7b it's the umbrella companies. Like Roadkill they got pumped and dumped by the investment company
Wheel Pros bought Hoonigan. After some time they changed the name of the main company to Hoonigan and declared bankruptcy. The Hoonigan that everyone knows is not who racked up the massive debt. It’s the private equity company that bought them.

Lot of business talk 😞
Yeah, you are not wrong. Skip to the last hour where we go deep on cars.
What do you mean? The inside business talk is the best thing about the pod. Great insight
give it time, you’ll appreciate this 5 years from now (or 10 or 15). As a 30 yr old I wish I was in the room
Which was the most interesting part of it to me. Better than the same "what should I get for this money" question for the 973rd time.
Hey I'll take business talk over more Elon/Tesla talk any day.
