    I've never been able to understand how the family accepted the impostor as their missing son.
    Perhaps out of sheer desperation to have him back?
    With regard to his brother's apparent suicide, I'm thinking it's possible he never got over the guilt of not waking up their mother :-(
    Very sad story all around. Wonder if he will ever be found. Thanks for another episode.

      I always wondered what was making Nicholas such a troubled kid? Usually troubled or violent kids have something going on a home making them so angry. In the documentary, "The Imposter" the guy who pretended to be Nicholas said that when his sister arrived in Spain to fetch him she showed him family photos. He believed she was not trying to reminisce with her long lost brother but instead trying to get the imposter to remember everyone's name so he'll pass as her brother. I always had a feeling Nicholas made it home that night and something terrible happened to him. I believe his mothers knows where his body is.

    My theory is that Jason OD’d because he felt responsible for his brother’s disappearance because he didn’t wake their mom. I feel that maybe Nicholas was walking down the street, spotted by a perp who maybe offered him drugs or alcohol or something to lure the boy, and he never got caught. 😔 maybe the perp/s were older boys who gave nick drugs and he accidentally OD’d and they panicked and got rid of the body. I doubt his family was involved.

    I still believe one or two of Nicholas family members was involved in his disappearance if not know something about it. I don’t believe the family were that naive to believe that the french dude was their son. I think they know more than what their letting on. And also take into consideration as well that before he went missing he apparently had an argument with his family. If I was the police I’d be looking a lot more closely at the family because it just doesn’t add up.

    • @wendylederer367
      @wendylederer367 3 года назад +5

      If you listen to the family speak and read between the lines you can see that they have something to hide.The mother is speaking about Nicholas in the past tense.Although when someone is missing for a long period of time it’s assumed that they are dead but it’s been my observation that the family always holds on to hope that the loved one is still out there and there also the fact that the mother refused to take a DNA test.If someone I love was missing I would want to do everything I could to help the police.His sister is full of shit with those fake tears.Yes I’m obsessed with this case! I want to play detective and find out what happened to him.I think this kid was treated horribly in life and he’s being disrespected in presumable death.He should not be forgotten about! No one should! Not an innocent kid! I think Frederic Bourdin should be locked up not out there living his best life continuing to hurt people.He said he wants to be someone else take on another persons identity because his life was so bad.He wanted to be someone who was loved so why would he pretend to be a kid who was never shown any love?? I would think he would try to find a family that was actually loving.The Barclays had nothing to give him.I’m not sure what he got out of that deal.I hope that by writing about this it brings more awareness to the case because my heart breaks for this kid! He deserves better than this!

      @@wendylederer367 Also notice how the mother made statements like, "I think he got into a car with someone. He would have done that. He had no fear." Victim-blaming much? What parent would say that about their missing child? The family talks about how hard Nicholas was to handle, but given that his mother and brother were drug addicts, what chance did that boy have?

    • @wendylederer367
      @wendylederer367 3 года назад +7

      @@Muirmaiden Exactly! When I watch the beginning of this documentary I get a sad eerie feeling. You can see that he was not cared for. They kind of ignored him. The reason they were talking about him in negative light was to deflect the responsibility off of themselves and paint the picture that he would just go off with a stranger. If you really listen to these people you can catch them in their lies. They talk about him in the past tense. I’ve known people who had family members go missing.They hold on to every ounce of hope that their still alive until they know for sure that their gone. At the end when the family was asked if they had any involvement in his disappearance the mother said. “I didn’t do it” She told us that something was done to him but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that these people are guilty and this con man was obviously not Nickolas.I just want to play detective and find out what happened to him.

    • @Muirmaiden
      @Muirmaiden 3 года назад +1

      @@wendylederer367 Agreed. I think Jason was definitely involved, and the rest of the family knows or at least suspects. Apparently, Nicholas's teachers noticed bruises on him shortly before his disappearance and notified CPS - but when he went missing, it was assumed that he was a "bad kid" who had run away. Nicholas was also diagnosed with ADHD prior to his disappearance - and abused children have been misdiagnosed with that, as some of the symptoms are similar to PTSD. Jason was known for having a violent temper - his mother called the police on him twice after Nicholas went missing. Of course, "The Imposter" showed an interview with a neighbor who confirmed just how common domestic violence was in the family. Notice that the family never admitted to any of this. They try to portray themselves as long-suffering "we were the only ones who loved Nicholas, cared about him, and were looking for him", and yet they omit the issues that were going on at the time. They defend Jason way too much. Poor Nicholas, even in death, his family isn't looking out for him. They're more concerned with protecting themselves. Heartbreaking.

    His family was involved. I personally think his brother did it, it was an accident likely a fit of rage. I'm unsure if the mother knows or not (but I think she might have a feeling, but is in denial about it/doesnt want to accept that). The robbery call to the police was an attempt to cover it up.

  • @Little-Sparrow
    @Little-Sparrow 3 года назад

    I guess desperation could have been the reason for the family accepting the imposter as Nicholas, and Jasons death could have been due to the guilt he would likely have felt for refusing to wake their mother that fateful day... Here he is, several years later, being interrogated and outright accused and blamed! (And lets not pretend LE are 100% truthful and civil while questioning a poi, we know it often involves outright lies and thuggery!) There's a whole load of could-a, would-a, should-a, maybe's here though, and as terrible as it sounds, I don't think the theory that the family knew what really happened to Nicholas can be entirely discounted. He was a pretty troubled kid, and it's quite possible the brother just completely lost it with him over something.
    It's also possible, (if somewhat unlikely) that Nicholas did runaway of his own volition, and if that was the case, who knows what might have become of him?
    Either way, a very sad story.
    Great upload though!👍💯

    Yes- so many questions on this one. Especially since Nicholas would have only been 16 maybe 17 when “found”.
    Now that’s an age where after three years of gone by a lot of growing up can be done kids don’t look like little kids necessarily, but this person pretending to be her son, was not a teenager. He doesn’t look like a teenager to me.
    I have seen the film “ Imposter”, But now I think I’m gonna have to check it out again.
    I’m kind of with the other commenters on this one that the family or some members of the family, may have had something to do with Nicholas his “disappearance” and was using this imposter to their advantage.
    Jeezum- even typing that sentence above makes my stomach turn. Poor boy.

    Gonna say, if it's just for the shoes I don't understand that, in Australia it would be too under-age to consider court. Cops would talk to the kid abd that's about it.

      I know what you mean. Not sure how to feel towards the family. They might be innocent, in which case you heart goes out to them. Also Frédéric Bourdin, he must have demons of his own. His compulsive need to impersonate doesn't sound healthy, and he clearly needed some help.

    • @user-nm8mt8vb3c
      @user-nm8mt8vb3c 4 года назад

      @@UNSOLVABLE i do think that whether your. Child is a juvenile delinquent or not, for so many reasons you would call the police, even if you didnt want them back. But as he is most likely a product of his environment it seems likely they had the choice to maybe lose 2 kids or just 1 if they told the truth. A polygraph exam questioning each family member would at least lead the right direction if not answer all questions. The kid couldve been pissed his mom didn't come get him and actually did something to his brother for not waking her or her where it was defensive or accidental. Since it seemed he was probably leaving soon for a juvinile facility, they wouldnt be too worried about him being a hindrance however may have actually hidden him with extended family where only the parents truly knew. But the hiding or covering a death of one child to save the other child is not unheard of and in the situation you couldnt blame parents for making the call to hide it rather than lose everything. Both remaining kids maybe, jail, loss of reputation and social judgement by family friends and neighbors...etc... I would polygraph or offer immunity after such time passes simply so that certain cases would close
