    I was a reporter for one of the large newspapers that covered Maura's hometown south of Boston. My editor assigned me to cover a vigil organized by her mother in 2003 at her high school. I interviewed her mother and I'll never forget how kind, but heartbroken she was.

    Every time I hear stories like this one . I think of those girls that were abducted and abused for years in a Chicago suburb. There’s a chance she could have ended up in a situation like that. If she wandered off in the woods there would be some physical evidence. Even deer gut plies disappeared after a day but there’s still some evidence a few days later. I hope investigators can find answers for the family.

      @@UNSOLVABLE Abduction certainly is a prime possibility. But I keep returning to Maura saying no to help - she wasn't calling anyone and it must have been cold. So it would seem... odd to have her abducted. On the other hand, it IS the simplest explanation that fits most of the clues so Occams Razor says that is most likely.
      But if that were the case the time period of that abduction is ridiculously small and in such a obvious spot. If she were abducted she first said no to the school bus driver AND decided she'd rather take a ride from a passerby rather than simply walking to any of the houses in a short distance. That's not an impossible scenario, of course, since Maura was in college and, well, we all make weird decisions at that point in our lives due to emotional immaturity.
      But it still feels... wrong. Something that strikes me is that she had two accidents in close proximity in time that were very close in what they were. That's weird. Not impossible and 95% likely just a coincidence but as is I don't want to write off anything as "Just a coincidence" quite yet. That may be important.
      The rag in the tailpipe also hits me as odd. Sure she was told to do that but... a rag in a tailpipe lasted during driving and an accident? I posit that was put in the tailpipe after the accident as a sign and it ties back to my suspicion that Fred has a piece of the puzzle he hasn't told anyone about.
      But hey - that is just my 1 cent. It doesn't even rise up to 2 cents.

    Mate, this case is going on way too long. I'm almost 100% certain that the feds know what happened to her. Dunno if you've seen the 6 part documentary on her, but the old bill flopped massively, on multiple occasions.
    The bus driver would be my first suspect - but because he was some kind of pillar of the community and highly regarded by them, the police weren't interested in digging deeper on him - even though his story changed 3x over when interviewed by reporters. He's brown bread himself now, so another missed opportunity.
    The forensics of the bloodstained carpet found in the closet of the A house should have been released but wasn't - again, why?
    The family's own P.I's even went to the house and managed to find blood splatters on the wood inside the closet, but by the time they were able to send it off to the forensics, the blood was far too degraded for them to match it up to Maura. Although, they were able to tell that it was blood from 2 different people. 1 male. 1 female.
    Theres also talk of her being picked up by 3 lads who worked up the road at a ski ranch, who could well have taken her to a party, and got out of hand. They didn't turn up for work on the night she went missing, but they've never been investigated.
    The fact is, there's no clues whatsoever. No signs of murder. No signs of her wandering away. No signs of her at all. So without anybody coming forward, or her just suddenly popping up - 17 years later, the poor girl won't ever be found.

    • @UNSOLVABLE
      @UNSOLVABLE  2 года назад +22

      There too many murder/ missing person cases like this across the US. People with power, influence, and money, usually find themselves untouchable.
      Any officer who digs too deep could find themselevs out of work, or worse.
      It is such a tragidy that the sensitive information surround this case is swept under the rug by the feds.
      Thanks for the comment 👍

    • @TimothyCollins
      @TimothyCollins 2 года назад +7

      I don't think the feds have any idea. But I do think Fred Murray knows more than he's let on. He doesn't know specifically what happened but he has more info than he's divulged. There is a LOT of red lights in my head in terms of the father/daughter relationship that went on there.
      Note - I don't think Fred has ever done anything "wrong". I fully think he loved his daughter and he is entirely innocent in terms of her disappearance. I just think that there is more that he knows than he has said and I suspect that may be the last bit of info in terms of reducing the possibilities in this case.

I think she was running away initially but the accident and her being intoxicated put her in a vulnerable position and an opportunist offered to give her a ride and she couldn't refuse since it was a cold night and thus met with foul player, I believe she was murdered and is buried in the woods.

    No other video on this subject tells of how much emotional turmoil she was in. A big part of the case is that her actions seem irrational or dangerous, but if you look at it as a suicidal person who has made their mind up, and is just done with life, her leaving the scene and going into the wilderness to die seems to fit. Not saying that's the solution, but it's certainly possible.

    Try this timeliness on for size. It doesn't explain everything but it would work.
    Maura meets a guy in university. Not only does she cheat on her boyfriend with him, she engages in something nefarious with others alongside him. At some point this new guy suggests getting away for a party that weekend. So Maura sets up a weekend trip and on her way grabs some alcohol. He follows her. While that is happening someone else packs her stuff and prints out what could be considered a note that she is going to disappear.
    At some point Maura gets a bit thirsty and drinks. That leads to a accident. She isn't that worried since she does have the other guy following behind her so she stands outside the car and when he shows up she jumps in his car assuming they'd pick up her car the next day.
    At which point she is driven off for however far and... killed or disappeared some other way.
    This explains how she disappeared and why her stuff was packed up and why she has not been found. Therefore I'd argue we may want to look into whether someone was in her room at university that Sunday night. If so this timelin3 makes even more s3nse.

    I think they have to investigate the possibility of Maura getting in someone’s car as a way of getting out of the area and not getting confronted by police. She may have encountered evil at that moment , a remote cabin , a loner , someone that can do the crime and hide the remains. Having in mind that she may have been intoxicated, a smart decision doesn’t come to mind when thinking about the circumstances at the time. She was a smart girl, if she went into the woods, she would’ve stayed close to the road, re-surface when her mind was clearer. I don’t know but I would investigate the construction worker. I’ll ask around in the nearest town , rumors have many times given the answer in missing persons and criminal cases. Where was the black backpack ? Was it Maura’s?

    I honestly think she had been drinking and didn't want to get caught drink driving so she wandered off into the woods and succumbed to the elements. I don't think theres a big conspiracy here to be honest It's just such a shame her body has never been found.

    • @milesaway3699
      @milesaway3699 Год назад

      @rvoitAnimals scatter bones and clothing. Sometimes bones are found in areas that were previously thoroughly searched. If you do a Google Maps search you will see this is an incredibly remote area. Especially in winter. Getting lost in the woods while intoxicated is entirely possible and likely. She either wandered off and died of exposure or was picked up by someone that saw an easy way to assault a pretty young girl and dump her body not far from where she was picked up. Due to the remoteness of the area I find this hard to believe unless it was someone local and familiar with the area. She was definitely drinking heavily to self medicate.

    This is one of those mysteries I have been interested in for quiet awhile and did some research on. My conclusion is there is a bit of evidence we are missing and it is in the hands of the family. While I seriously am not accusing him of killing Maura or anything I really think Fred Murray is holding back on something. He's acted as if he knows something ever since this happened and it strikes me he knows more than he has divulged. I don't think he knows exactly what happened, or if he did he isn't the direct or only cause of it, but there is more here than he's said.
    My guess is that one of two things happened :
    1. Maura was killed in the nearby cabin by a passerby
    2. Maura is still alive and planned her disappearance - and was simply prompted to hurry it up when the accident happened.
    Both possibilities are of equal possibility in my mind.

    • @TimothyCollins
      @TimothyCollins 2 года назад +3

      @@susiefoxy8130 I think it goes deeper than that. Maura was acting like a kid that was without a person controlling her actions 24/7 for the first time. It obviously wasn't "the first time" but she went from having her father around all the time and being controlling to being a college kid that seemed to have something of a drinking problem and was engaging in identity theft to buy pizza's. That flip screams to me she was having trouble adjusting to not being under Fred's thumb.

    This happened about 30 minutes from where I live currently. I have a theory. There’s a serial killer in NH who circulates around the Maine/NH boarder, and concord NH. I also believe he might circulate in NY as well but I’m not sure. I believe what happened is she was in hysterics and waiting for police to arrive and was picked up by said SK and her remains were possibly dumped at Loon Mountain, but no further information has come out. I’ll source some links if interested in more, it’s my firm opinion this serial killer has been active since early 2000’s, and is disposing of bodies in bigger cities at remote locations in order to throw investigators off of his/her location. Last crime associated with this SK is about a week ago in Concord NH.

    It sounds like there were many disappointments in Maura’s life before or around the time of her disappearance… she may have lost interest in her studies in nursing school ( hence dismantling her dorm and fabricating a reason to take a break) ; a break up with her boyfriend; her sister relapsed immediately after being discharged from rehab, then crashing her fathers car… I’m suspecting that she did not want to call police as she had been drinking …one would not bring text books if planning a suicide…

      You absolutely can't predict people's behavior. People DO bring things like textbooks places, and then they try to study, it doesn't go well, their partner is thoughtless to them, they make a mistake, they jump off of something
      You cannot predict how someone will act before they end their life. AT ALL, EVER. In general this is more applicable to police calling everything a s*ic*de but it works the other way as well. Lots of people do it impulsively without specific depression

    I have questions about the police SUV that was spotted prior to what the official log shows, but that could be a case of human error - I believe you said 9 minutes off? That could be a transposition of numbers, which is a very easy mistake to have happened.
    Because the dogs tracked her down the road a way & then lost the scent, I believe she got into a vehicle with someone who then did her harm. I see comments criticizing the police withholding of evidence but sometimes that is what they need to do so as to secure a conviction once they feel they can make an arrest.
    People would not 'allow' the house to be searched? Wth?? That really bugs me. At least a search was finally allowed.
    Anyway, this is true mystery as it stands today however I do believe this poor gal is dead. She was very upset and looking to get away from things, either for a bit or permanently (we will likely never know) and someone found her in this vulnerable state & took advantage. I hope her family is given answers soon.

    Omg these cases of really wonderful and beautiful women really bother me so much. It just hurts me that these are the women us men ,well I do anyway ,I look up to and respect and as a man it's hard to see such a wonderful woman be treated like the way other animal men treat them. It's like men that are destructive and hate the world,I understand existential angst,but hurting the people that are full of life and so much potential upsets my soul. I know though that this is why they are often taken to be used and destroyed it's because they are striking not just in beauty but in that inner beauty that seems to enrage the men that hate the world. And they feel that they are getting revenge on this world by taking such women when they are just showing how truly pathetic and capricious they are as men. I'm allmost 50 and I prey for a day when wonderful women no longer get targeted by these misanthropic and angry pathetic men. Prison and even the death penelty is still no deterant for these men that feel that need to dominate and destroy what is good and beautiful. As a man it hurts me to think how many men are just so pathetic. I want it to stop!! Leave the women and kids alone you inadequate man/child's. Grow up and learn to appreciate thst life is so precious and don't take what is good just because yr feeling like the world is against you. Imagine how you would feel being treated this way. There needs to be more money and research and studies done to indenify young boys that could possibly have the potential to grow up and do these devistating and repulsive acts on the most wonderful and beautiful women in our western countries. The government is not doing enough because it's been steadily going on since I was a boy in the 80s and it's just so unfare and unnecessary. Can you look at a wonderful woman and think wow ! How cool is she, and thank god you even got to see such a thing. And when you fall in love with one,how amazing is that. But these men blame others for there own inner turmoil and it's got to stop I'm so tired of seeing these women that have so much to give and live. They just want to live !!! Why take that away what kind of mind thinks it has any right to take what is good. Now I'm old I see flowers and I understand why they are so beautiful when I was young I didn't care about them but now I see they are like symbolic of the beauty inside us all. Now I never walk past a flower and not smell it and thank god I'm alive.

      Dude, there’s always been & always will be psychopaths/sociopaths-having more angry men smell flowers isn’t the answer. Teaching potential victims to be more responsible & vigilant in their actions is the best way to decrease the occurrence of horrific acts of injustice. This young lady let the fear of legal consequences influence her actions which irresponsibly compromised her personal safety. Letting fear dictate our actions can often have dire consequences. Sad but true. Of course that doesn’t mean she deserves to fall prey to a perpetrator but this world is & always will be imperfect & perps will remain amongst us-what could Ms. Murray have done differently to have improved her chances of surviving these unfortunate series of events? And you sir need to address your self-loathing of being a man bc men have positive characteristics which don’t require them to enjoy smelling flowers.

    I *do* think Maura was running away from some troubles, whether they were as bad as she imagined them I don’t know, but she was obviously at a turbulent point in her life. Is it possible that she feared her sisters drinking problem might mirror a problem of her own? However, while I believe her initial plan was to get out of dodge, I think that once she crashed her car she suddenly had to improvise and so she started off on foot. The presence of her favorite stuffed animal shows me the vulnerable state she was in and since it’s probable she was drinking one could assume her inhibitions would be slightly lowered. I think she became a perfect target for a crime of opportunity and if she was especially desperate to get away from the scene of the crash quickly then she might have let her guard down more than usual when it came to who she would or wouldn’t get in a car with.
    I know how frustrated I’ve felt, a stranger to Maura, never having answers to this case so I truly cannot even begin to imagine the torment her family must feel. I would think that this would be something that they would think about on a daily basis and I guess at some point you have to move on and continue living your life but… how? I’ve heard the same sentiment from many family’s of missing persons and that is that it’s the not knowing that really wears you down, weighs you down and consumes your thoughts. Until you’ve got answers, almost anything is possible and some of those possibilities are actual nightmares.

    Such a sad tragic case this. I remember it well.
    One theroy was that she was planning to run away & start afresh. She was having problems with her boyfriend think that was the main reason for her disappearing.
    What happened next tho is very strange. It's plausible that she could've been abducted & then taken elsewhere & murdered by an opportunistic stranger. I don't think she took her own life but it cannot be ruled out completely.
    The police have made a real pigs ear of the investigation tho which means they either know alot more than they're letting on or they could be involved in some capacity. Still sounds abit far fetched. That bus driver is dodgy mind changing his story 3 times.
    Sadly I don't think we'll ever know the REAL truth of what happened. I mean she could of faked her death met up with someone hence why the police dogs only tracked her scent so far before they lost it which means she most likely of got a lift off someone to start afresh who knows.
    I personally think she's dead I just hope that her poor family will find out the truth of what happened for some closure.
    A cracking video very fascinating & extremely well covered.

      She was raped by her track coach, Raped by the police officers responding to the first call that let her get away with a dwi and then did the same thing with the second accident yet somehow died. Period, done, end of case.

    Bcs of the internetsearshes I think she was going to burlington Vermont its a ski town with many young people, median age 27, and that also why she bought all that alchol for a some days there and her books, however if she made it there I have no idea, the town is next to a big lake to

    No apt , lies and skips work , packs up her stuff in her dorm and a rough patch with her bo. Sounds like a classic alcoholic !!!! She was dodging a DUI , I'm sure. But where the heck did she disappear to??? Ah ha that's the mystery here.

    Why was there a rag stuffed in the tail pipe??? Looks like she was set up for car trouble.?? Did she fall for the banana in the tail pipe trick?? If those are police photos, I’d ask why the rag is in the tail pipe.

    I was just like Maura. Perfect was just too hard. I was a super nurse. I believe she was alcoholic, hiding until she couldn’t. Just like me. 2 OWI just like me. I planned my death 💀 car accident.
    24:23
    She told them “ death in the family “ it was her. That was her suicide note. I went through my daily routine and no one ever knew. You don’t realize how well we can hide it unless you are one of us. She wanted to go to favorite safe place with her favorite book with plenty of alcohol to numb.
    I’m so sorry for your family’s pain and sorrow. The family should know what is in her police files. She was miserable and her heart hurt. She is in peace.

      Maybe she was planning it but she never followed through . There would have been evidence in the woods and there wasn’t. Nobody picked her up because they would’ve reported it , unless they were the ones who killed her. Although I don’t think she was planning a suicide. I think she was deliberately trying to hide damage yo the car from hitting someone 2 days earlier. I’ll post about it on main page.

      Everyone goes down the deep hole with this disappearance but its always the last person they interacted with. Just bc he was old and obese doesn't mean he's not involved.
