When we were on the Konigsdam in December, the only problem we had was the service in the MDR, When you ordered your food, you better order everything as once the food was delivered, you never saw a waiter again. Lack of staffing.
I agree about the cold butter. I like butter on my potatoes so I always ask for some and it irks me when they bring me cold butter. Cold butter on hot potatoes equals cold potatoes.

Surprised you couldn’t bring wine. We have always sailed HAL and last trip was 3/19 March 2023 on N. Statendam and wine was allowed in your checked luggage. Not sure about soda rule though. Curious why they said no on Rotterdam.
I'm glad you still sometimes have an interior room as opposed to a balcony. We all love balconies but sometimes the budget just doesn't allow it and I think you can still have a great time in an interior room.

@@EECCTravels Thanks actually may stay on the other side close to some outdoor adventures get some exercise before the cruise. Its actually about 15 minutes from the grind thinking about working out heavily for the next 3 to 4 months and pull that grouse grind off and make you proud . We will see I dont like heights but it looks like woods not a cliff? Thx again keep up the good work!

We did this cruise on Rotterdam in January. The ship seems brighter than Koningsdam. Sadly missed Bonaire as government wouldn’t let us in because of new regs for the port. HAL subbed San Juan which was awesome but no snorkel. There are still some happy hours on Hal so looking forward to seeing how you do. Also long stays in ports with cheaper drinks. Have fun!
If HAL is for old people call me old. Love their itineraries and their ships. Their "have it all" is quite expensive, in my opinion. They are running an amazing "private fare" offer for past cruisers. I was tracking a 14-day cruise 😮 through Norway and with this offer went almost to half price 😊 I'm in!!! 🎇 My previous two cruises with HAL had two piano players/singers at each show. All of them were outstanding.
We did the other itinerary on the Rotterdam back in January. We really enjoyed it. It was our first cruise on HAL. I really appreciated the large shower and all the music on board. We also had an inside cabin just below the aft pool deck. They slide deck chairs around at all hours of the day and night, which was somewhat annoying. Overall we enjoyed our cruise.
I have to tell you that I have already watched this series but because I love all of your videos and we're on the Koningsdam in Feb/24 on a 35-day Hawaii/South Pacific cruise, I wanted to refresh. Note to current HAL cruisers: We purchased the Have It All package but because HAL has recently increased their alcoholic drinks, we asked our TA to upgrade us to the Elite Beverage package. NOT possible because we booked the HIA and HAL will not allow us to upgrade for that reason. As you can appreciate, this is not an inexpensive cruise but because we booked the HIA at time of booking, they won't let us upgrade for $5/p/day but I'll bet we'll be able to do so at $10/p/day when we're onboard. We'll pay the difference of $1.00 + 18% gratuity if we choose a $12 drink opposed to the $11/drink limit on the Signature Beverage package. A $1.00 here, a $1.00 there, adds to the lines coffers. BUT, this is a bucket list cruise and it is what it is so THANK YOU for enabling us to re-watch your amazing videos.

I know that checked bags and carry-on bags go through a screening process but do the passengers have to go through a body scanner? Also, here's a question I've been meaning to ask. Is it possible to get a whole pot of hot water on any cruise ship? I drink ice tea and at home I keep an entire pitcher in my refrigerator. So I am hoping that I can bring some tea bags and make a pitcher to keep in my fridge.
We did Southern Caribbean route on Rotterdam in January and it was amazing, did you find the drawers at the foot of the bed? I think they are in all the cabins, so much storage on this ship !
@@EECCTravels we did use it either, we tried to slide our suitcase from the foot under the bed and that is how we found them. You just slide your suitcase from the side of the bed to stash it underneath 😘

With all the news on issues with recent cruise lines such as norovirus, unruly passengers, etc, is it worth going on a cruise? Any tips on how to prevent norovirus (other than simply just not going on a cruise)
There is something to be afraid of in anything you do. We have been on over 30 cruises and never caught norovirus. Wash you hands frequently and that kills most germs.
Pro Tip- If the cold butter is individually wrapped, place it under your non working arm for about a minute to soften it up. If they are individual unwrapped pats, just lay them on your warm entree plate and they will soften up. Problem solved…😎👊🏻
We get the Casino offers (emails) throughout the year. Generally it’s a free interior/ocean view stateroom with free drinks while in the casino. And a little gambling $…
Pro Tip: when a cruise line won’t allow non-alcoholic drinks to be brought onboard, wait until first stop and pick some up in port. Highly unlikely they will say anything unless you are trying to bring liquor/alcohol onboard.

Downtown Vancouver is expensive but everything is in walking distance so it’s worth staying in that area.

We cruised on the old Rotterdam 2001 16 nights. Hopefully HAL has upped their game on entertainment. We were so bored but a lot younger.
