@@akarimusha9984 you shouldnt have to have mods in a game to be just barely satisfied. mods are meant to change mechanics in the games, not meant to give the game things it should have in the first place. valheim plays perfectly without mods, but theres things that add QOL and overhaul mods for biomes. 7dtd has things like undead legacy, and darkness falls as overhauls, most of the other mods shouldnt even exist because the game SHOULD have alot of the things those other mods introduce.
again like bdubs vehicles, weapons mods, ect. these wouldnt exist in the form they currently do if the fun pimps would do their jobs and implement more than 4 weapon tiers per weapon type. theres no reason to play this game beyond day 70 because there are no true end game super broken items to go after, like a hyper bike, armoured vehicles and helicopters, dirt bikes, transport trucks and semis. theres no miniguns, no god level snipers like the barrett, theres the bone knife, hunting knife, machete but no swords/claymores.
the game could be so much better than what it currently is if tfp swallowed their pride and bought out modding content/hired a couple more people for designing actual entity items.

@Elite02k can you explain what you mean by "city optimization"? I agree with the other points.

    • @Elite02k
      @Elite02k Месяц назад +4

@Svenu2 there's been several implementations of mechanics meant to limit rendering of assets objects and AI in order to make gameplay in the city run smoother. For example, zombies don't spawn inside buildings until you hit a certain Tigger point (going into rooms, going on the roof, ect), the game no longer renders the interiors of buildings until you are close enough to them (windows go from reflective to see through upon walking up). I feel like they could optimize some of their textures, some objects that are 5+ years old using way more polygons in their shapes for higher detailed but less intensive requirement skins and objects, and just smoothing out some textures and skins in general.

Personally, I view having a goal-less game a good thing. You get to choose how you want to end it: survive until day 7,000? Max out all abilities? Destroy everything? Rebuild a city?
Having an something to mark the end of a game will make you feel empty after.

That is exactly one of my critiques of the game. In an ideal world the devs would do that but Madmole has said that they focus on the first 4 hours of experience - someone buys the game, plays it for 4-5 hrs and never looks at it again. Their words, not mine. I really hope that with 1.0 they will change their stance on that. The graphics cant compensate for the lack of content.

Just Tossing a idea out here but maybe a few or one big building that unlocks throughout the game through the trader quests. For example you are at the max trader quest tier and there are building that are not accessible like how the trader is at night and it wont open the house or bunker whatever it may be until the trader offers the special quest to do so. So last tier you start the special quest and you load up on ammo meds and once you start you can leave similar to a quest or you have to start over and there is a mega boss zombie like the huge boar that's in the game and after completion there is a npc that talks about the lore of the game or something. This would be a fun end game finish. There could also be multiple of these, like one after each quest tier a special gated building opens and you can make a go at clearing it but they are very hard with zombies that have extra buffs or just the sheer number of them in there.

I think the end game of 7 Days to Die is subjective. I have no problems existing well up into the 100's of levels, meanwhile some folks believe they win after a certain amount of days. I've seen personally met end game goals (once we get a gyro we can fly outta here, etc etc) and that's just the thing. Not everyone determines what they end game is the same. Choosing your level of involvement is what makes it unique. It does bum me out we don't have the Duke in game quite yet, but in the meantime there are so many different existing ways to play.

I have never played Minecraft to fight the ender dragon or Conan or Ark to reach any kind of end game state. For me it is more so about the journey and even with Diablo II it was the loot you got from the end game boss. I think what it could use is a story line and bigger quests and factions just giving your survival in the world some effect. Making the journey bigger not necessarily an end game.

I understand that for many Gamers winning the game via an end game goal is desired. I just enjoy playing and could care less about having a final objective. I feel that in this game, surviving is the objective. If you reach a point where the game has become routine or boring, then start over with a new run through, increase the level of difficulty or perhaps moving on to a new game may be the answer. I mean if you completed the end game goal, that is what you would do anyway, right? I like that I do not have objectives I have to meet. I can play at my own pace and complete tasks or quests when I want. I do not need an "End Game Objective" to enjoy 7 Days To Die. Just my humble opinion from the perspective.

Story mode, story mode, story mode. They need to stop making POIs. There are plenty of them now. They also need to rework this jenk a$$ leveling "perk" system. They need to make generalized perk section for SINGLE PLAYERS. Locking Mother load and Miner 69'er behind strength, for example, needs to be moved out of strength. ALL players need to mine for base building. This alone takes away from role playing as a perception, agility, fortitude or intellect build because now the player has to dump points into strength. Fallout New Vegas has Traits, Skills then Perks. They need to benchmark other RPGs and fix this frustrating mess.

This is the intent of FunPimps until they finish the content. They purposefully force you from one biome to the next, fully expecting you to build a new base in each area along with a Horde base, so that your progression is so slow, that you spend months getting through to the Wasteland city and they have time to flesh out the final goals of the game. The early and midgame are a mess. Progress is exhaustingly slow. Putting a different trader in each biome makes no sense. Players don't want to build bases in each are as they progress. They also don't want to spend 3-4 hours of any given day, traveling one way, to a biome to do quests. Especially if that biome doesn't offer you any real incentive to be there. Yay.. a loot stage that's marginally better than the forest. Outstanding. Wonderful. Loot is still crap early. Making it so that the large cities, (which are actually fun and interesting) only spawn in later game biomes is another step in the WRONG direction. If they actually cared about the users, they would at least make it an option so that players could choose the size and area of cities that are in each biome. 7d2d has such amazing potential, but the Funpimps are doing their level best to make it a worse experience for the new and casual gamer.

I feel like doing absolutely everything that you can possibly do plus making a trader sized base is about as far as most will go.
One tip that can make a 100% completion world last longer is make the in game settings like player and zombie block damage to just be set to 25% so realistically you and zombies won't be Superman and one shot blocks. Plus to make the progression feel even slower on top of all that also make the XP gained to be 25% along with loot abundance being 25%.
Then of course choose whatever difficulty fits your play style.
Tested out these settings myself and it honestly makes the games progressing feel like how the developers intended the game to be played.
Of course these settings are just my personal opinion on how to make the game and progression feel more impactful giving you a clear goal for the endgame.
Also helpful tip for the start of the game if you aren't finding loot with 25% loot abundance speck into lucky looter
Allowing you to actually find things in most containers.
Then finally try permadeath game setting to further enhance the satisfaction of progression of keeping a character alive and not dying.
One thing to take note is the beginning of the game will be the hardest part of the game, once you've completed your first ten trader missions and unlocked the bike it's pretty much smooth sailing from there of course you'll have to be careful.

How about a two stage ending?
It could be something like this:
At a certain game stage and player level you have the option to be time travelled to just before the zombie virus outbreak. Sort of a "Terminator" type scenario. Once there you must avert the outbreak OR die trying. But remember. This is pre-apocolypse, so loot is very limited. If successful you can live happily ever after.
If you do not avert the disaster and die in the attempt, then you wake up in a new map somewhere as a level 0 just like the normal game start.

I always thought a nice idea for end game content would be to become a trader, maybe a mission arch after tier 6 or something.
You've survived countless hordes, completed all the missions, now it's time to settle down. I don't really know how they could implement it but maybe you could clear out and modify a particular POI, you might need to scavenge for particular equipment and amass a certain number of dukes, get a certain amount of trader rep with all traders etc. I doubt it will happen but I'd like to see something like that as an end game goal.

I just finished a Day 70 horde and started a new game right after, for the exact reason you're stating, and for the 4th time this year.
It's the early and mid-game that's interesting and fun, and even that would get incredibly stale if you don't mod the game.
What I think would be really great, is if this game had a way to "inject" things to our worlds, like how Bethesda does it with the God forsaken Creation Store.
If we want to try a mod or try a POI Pack, prefab, overhaul, ect....we need to start a new game / RGW. I wish I could just add a POI Pack or an Overhaul directly into the world I'm playing.
I'm worried that outside of Overhauls and user-created POI's / Prefabs....there isn't an Endgame that would satisfy. I mean there has to be, but I can't think of what that would be. Until then it's off to a massive mod list and Overhauls like Afterlife to keep things interesting.

I agree about the need for an endgame. All they’ve done so far is to stretch out the mid game by limiting quest rewards and the number of quests you can do. I also really think that the game needs a category of uncraftable weapons and armour that can only be scavenged for in super high loot zones. Once you have gathered all of the materials in 7Days there is no point in going scavenging other than to get the skill books to actually craft the item you have had the materials for weeks. If there was a bunch of super rare but super unique one-off items to obtain it could feel worth going back out to scavenge with a goal of collecting them all in the end game.

They should definitely go back to the idea of creating behemoth-like zombie that could be met only at t5 POI in wasteland as a final boss.
They should add or rework POIs that are not made in dungeon-like style on which you pretty much have only one way to go (assuming we are not breaking anything) - It's not like I don't like these, I just don't like that 99% of them are like that. What I meant by rework (or adding new) is that to make them way more open, with several entrances and already opened doors so you can explore the POI more freely.
Rebalance the amount of experience gained from killing zombies, some of them clearly should be worth more (even tho we already have that, but I mean... it still should be better than that).
Change the way zombies are spawned and triggered, I don't like the fact zombies spawn in POI after the player gets close enough, sometimes we may try to make a noise and no one is coming, but once we move a bit further/deeper, the zombies spawn.
The way they are triggered in trap-like style at the end of POIs is silly, you can't really open any container there, cuz it will wake them ALL up... even when you are sneaking.
I miss the filling of hiding from them from back in Alpha 2... or so (aprox 10 years ago), They worked so different back then.
A bit more randomly roaming zombies in cities, not just 2-4 randomly spawned, becase PLAYER IS NEAR, I am talking about gathering zombies here and there even in very early stage of the game and these we should avoid, sneak past them or turn back and run away.
Since we are at the idea of having roaming zombies in cities like that, obviosuly... optimalization is still very much needed.
They shouldn't remove possibilty to wear regular clothes I think it was nice (even tho almost unnecessary).
They should add radiation, not only at the edge of the world, but in some random places and POIs, some hazmat suits that would actually come in handy (and some new drugs).
Aside from zombies, since this apocalypse clearly ended up with bombing the world, nuclear weapons were also used, so... some more mutated things aside from zombies (I am not talking about making it like fallout, buuut a bit of it should be there...).
They should definietly go back to the 90s style, I am not a fan of making all these things more "up to date", I though that this apocalypse started somewhere at the end of 80s or beginnning of 90s, but now... all the clothes updates, zombie skins, destroyed cars on the streets and some random places, they are starting to look more and more like 2000-2010, we can even find laptops in POIs now...
The things like laptops could perhaps only by found at some secret military bases and/or bunkers, where they could have it, cuz you know what they say, if we have some new technology avaiable for people, military probably had it 20 years ago...

I'd also like to see NPC survivors since in zombie movies, TV shows and books it's the other humans that are the most dangerous. Safety in numbers but these NPCs can double cross you taking your stuff, lead you into an ambush of humans, or they even try to kill you out of nowhere. You can also kill them.

man what if they added the ability for hordes to destroy your weapons, or boxes of loot. like when a air drop comes the zombies appear only to destroy the crate once it lands and you have a certain amount of time to get to and save the crate before the time runs out. Then random hordes show up and they try to blow up your storage supplies or your bike and jeeps while trying to get to you. Yea that would keep you grinding.

I have always thought they should have a "slide bar" in the options to play sort of Own the World, where you pick as example 3,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 zombies and you have to hunt and kill them in the world your in so you can have a world without Zombies when you kill them all. At lease there is a goal of killing everything and cleaning up the world.

I’d like to see certain items only located in certain spots around the map rather than random, like an assault rifle can only be found at an army base and the LMG can only be found in the end loot of a really difficult army base. I’d love to see a military vehicle and an army helicopter located in specific bases around the map too that you really have to fight hard to get. Maybe trucks that can carry more loot can be found in the basement of big POI’s. Give us reason to explore the map other than just for accumulating items that we probably already have.

I feel (on the Alpha 15 console version) the early days are the most fun, or at least the most challenging.
Like you said, once I got my base set up, got my farmplots going, things tend to get a bit repetitive.

I agree a end game goal to work towards would be nice, They could even have multiple end game goals, For instance one scenario could be... we see the Air drops so we know there are possibly country's who have not been taken over by the infection or have found a cure, The goal could be to find codes and special maps that eventually lead you to a secret underground government transport system, That is untouched by the infected and is the place that will lead to your safe escape, but you have to clear out a small section 1st that is over run by "boss" type zombies (These Zombies were the people who were planning to make their escape on the transport system but failed dew to some people being infected and then all hell broke loose) Once you clear the area you use the code to the system that unlocks the large highly reinforced security gates to let you in, once in, a cut scene plays and the credits roll

Zombie get speed boost when ''Stumbling'' Or hitting you without an animation.. or AI not going where they should go, too many storms happening, the Dark lightning whenever you're inside an building when the storms rolls around.

Bad for public servers, but let´s be honest here, the majority plays SP, a lot are playing in private with friends only and there it is no problem to just restart. Public servers are a minority. And a lot of them are already modded so they don´t have that problem. Or you build something huge. Story is well known to only be added very shortly before the game is finished, we know that for years. And if all planets align in a certain way while we perform a ritual at both poles, we might see bandits some day....

I will add my 2 cents here
First voxel games are not easy to develop, I think that many developers after they start go " ohhh sh#te, what have I got myself in to? " however they happen to be some of the games with most replayability , you name it, Minecraft, Vintage Story, Empirion galactic , they have a few things in common, like the way you can build or destroy buildings, terrain, contraptions, that brings me to the second part, on how easy is to MOD the game and have an incredible thriving group of people that bring new and great ideas to the table, change options, textures, sound you name it, is like porn if you can imagine it someone has already filmed it .
Yes the FP have been at time slowwwww as molasses in bringing new things to the table, or the worst they have been accused , of not listening to their supporters and fan base, but every new instance the fps are better, the game is better optimized, new pois are added, others are redone, yes the weather cycle is pathetic, and less not talk about the water mechanics, that to me are a wasted opportunity since it could be a new biome with water specific zombies and the possibility of underwater structures, boats, dungeons, or they could create a jungle biome with swamps and other creatures.
Personally I don't care much as long as they don't mess up the modding community all is cool.
The third thing that voxel games bring to the table is that you can choose what game options you like, # of enemies, weather, loot re spawn, air drops, horde night or not etc etc.

Spoiler alert: 1.0 is just A22. The game isn't actually out of alpha. There indeed is still the story with its quests in the pipeline. And endgame will likely be to wipe out one of the factions.
Apart from that: Nah, it doesn't really need an endgame. Sure, it will eventually get one. But I got a thousand or so hours in the game over quite a few comebacks with some years pause in-between. I know when I'm done with a playthrough. I don't need someone to tell me.
Also, this game is a long-tail game. It will still be relevant in a decade because it's the first in it's niche. Other games miss multiplayer, 3D, base-building, the destructible voxel world or the hundreds of handmade POIs.
I will likely keep coming back once in a while and just play some casual 7 Days To Die on a random public server like i do now.
