As a young man (many years ago) I lived near Sciennes (Gladstone Terrace) and would deliver groceries by bicycle to houses in The Grange every day after school. I was lucky enough to see the inside of many of them and I always enjoyed the ambience of the area which felt more like being in a village than a city - especially in the summertime when the gardens were all in full bloom. Such a beautiful area and with an interesting history to boot!
Gosh Shawna, I feel like you constantly outdo yourself with perfectly lovely videos! 🙌 This is another gem. The tea looked absolutely magical, and the wander afterwards was so peaceful 🥰 I’m so glad you and your mum had that time together. The wreath on the door and the snippet from the Book of Matthew were both beautiful 😍 And the Hidden Scotland entries! That’s wonderful, congratulations! 👏
As always, truly appreciate your kind comments, Patrick!! We had the best time at the Signet Library, one of our favourite afternoon teas in a long time 😍 I'm so glad your Hidden Scotland book arrived safely too, hope you're enjoying it!
Thank you so much for taking us with you and your mother for afternoon tea 🙂☕🍰I would love to try it with my children when we come to Edinburgh in October ❤ I was so happy when I saw the Bible verse at the end of the video, thank you for that ❤🙂
This is wonderful, with a nice mix of activity. Not only have I learned of a new place to take my daughter for lunch, I, living in Canada, got to see some of the Grange and Marchmont, which I know very well. I encourage you to do a more studied wander about this area (Bruntsfield, Morningside, Sciennes, etc.) and take in more sights...even going for a walk through the Hermitage of Braid...stroll along the Braid Burn and even go up Blackford Hill (access via path alongside the Hermitage building) for a superb view across the south of the city towards the castle. For an evening out I recommend dinner at The Ghurka Nepalese Restaurant, Morningside, and then walk across the street to see a movie at the privately-owned Dominion Cinema. Buses include 5, 16 and 11. If having lunch in the area, Honey & Co. in Bruntsfield is excellent.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for the recommendations! I'll definitely be sure to film more of the area when I'm next there as you're right, the walk up Blackford Hill and through the Hermitage is wonderful 😍 I appreciate the lunch/dinner recommendations too as I don't think I've dined out in the area for years! Visiting the Dominion has been on my Edinburgh bucket list for quite some time so really must visit this year!
@@ShawnaExplores I'm doing great, so good to see your vlogs, I was so stressed due to an interview this weekend but your vlogs are a treat to relax and calm myself down.
Just thinking, after years of watching your videos i have seen you drink alot of tea but no coffee....come on over to the dark side Shawna and have a coffee, you know you want to...P.S you are eating scones the wrong way, its jam first then cream.
Jam first when choosing to butter a scone. Cream first when preferring scone unbuttered; cream replaces the preference of buttering a scone. Buttered scone: jam then cream. Unbuttered scone: cream then jam. 😊
Hahahah! I don't seem to handle caffeine very well or I would happily join the dark side as I love the smell of coffee 😍 ahhh we'll agree to disagree on the scone matter 😂

Ohh I'm so jealous, I'm very nosey and would love an excuse to peek inside the homes 😂 and I agree definitely has more of a village-like atmosphere!
Beautiful vlog.So nice to see some calm content away from the busy parts of Edinburgh.😄🎉
Thank you so much for your kind comment!! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Love the signet library for afternoon tea. I have been a few times now, think it's my favourite in Edinburgh.
I completely agree with you! It just ticks all the boxes for me 😊

Could you do Hawick at some stage, thank you.😊
I don’t drive so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to visit but I’d love to 😊
Butter first! Then jam, then cream!
Wow, what a beautiful library, it reminds of the one from Beauty and the Beauty 🥀 I'd love to go, my two favourite things books and cake 😂❤
That afternoon tea looks so lovely. So not to offend anyone eating scones- I always do one of each style 😂
Hahahah love it!! Very diplomatic 😍
Jam then cream
We’ll agree to disagree 😉🩷
