What a great team Forest had back then under the legendary Cloughie 👏

When the cup still mattered. I’m gutted with what it’s become now.

Was a great day out. Fans and players of both teams giving everything.

The dark days of English football. European ban post Heysel. But the FA Cup still mattered.
We’d got 52k in the previous round on a Wednesday night for a replay v Bournemouth. Played 2 replays v QPR in 3rd round and got 46k for the second one on a Monday night . Fergie’s Fledglings era. My favourite time following United, aged 15.
If United had won this then we’d have played Liverpool in the semi on 15th April 1989 at either Goodison or Maine Road.

Best atmosphere for a while that day at OT. Proper football. But putting Lee sharpe at left back so Ralph Milne could play left midfield, not fergies best decision.

Definitely a poor decision. He should have played Maiorana instead of Milne; or Donaghy at LB with Sharpie running them ragged. It was a disgrace that someone as shit as Milne was at OT.

scherben absolutely right. Look what happened when he played maiorana against arsenal about a month after this game, he ran them absolutely ragged. I was gutted when we lost this match and your right I have no idea what Milne was doing at United, one of fergies mistakes along with William prunier!!

@@mrkipling2201 At least Prunier was temporary and didn't wreck the season :)
