    2023-and I still listen to this over and over---once again reminded of the genius that was Mingus and Joni Mitchell---and this interpretation by Austin Peralta and Natasha Agrama only reinforce that and display their own genius.....

      I was through Daedelus, Austin played on Looking Ocean then Daedelus wrote the album Drown Out in his memory - then FlyLo and the DMT song.

    I cant believe he died literally hours after this performance. Although its very sad, it really shows his ability and talent as an artist. Shred In Peace!

      It’s even crazier that this song was a homage for Lester Young by Charles Mingus. Lester Young was a tenor saxophonist who died around the 1950’s or so.

    God this kid was so talented. His dad was one of my biggest heroes as a kid and when I discovered his Jazz thru Flying Lotus I became an instant fan, unfortunately he died soon after but his legacy remains and performances like this will live on.

    RIP Austin, and as of a few years ago once COVID hit, RIP blue whale too. A fantastic performance in what was one of the finest jazz venues in the country.

    Incredible. This performance (by the whole band) is enough to bring me to tears. And then you find out Austin died hours after this show. So tragic. I feel so terrible for those who knew and loved him.

    To be 22 years old an into jazz is really courageous…knowing you’ll never go platinum nor play in front of arena size audiences….doing it strictly for the love..
    He would have been a giant in Jazz up there with Kamasi and Esperanza had he lived…

    Came back to this so many years later when I heard Mac Miller give Austin an "RIP" shout on one of his"behind the song" videos just now. Reminded me of Austin's greatness, as well as the profound losses Thundercat has endured. I wish artistic genius wasn't so fragile, but thankful to have witnessed these greats sharing their crafts while they could 🙏🏾

    I love the singer. I am copying her inflections on my trombone for this song. She has a very interesting style and very improvisational. She is a good jazz musician. High praise for a jazz singer.

      She's using some of the phrases from de sax solo in Ah Um recording, and her own phrases in between. But sounds so natural and cantabile.. great solo. Wow I just realised Im replaying a two years old comment,
      I wish I had found this before. Good luck whit that trombone!

    One of my favorites performances, ever... I can listen it again and again. Austin was just incredibly talented guy... and Natasha is also wonderful and beautiful singer, just superb duet. Fantastic and very athmosphere performance. So sad that he passed away at the age of 22... He was like a meteor - huge flash of light and then he's gone forever... Gosh, 2012 - it was like yesterday...
    We miss you Austin, we remember you, we listen you. Thanks a lot for this music, buddy. R.I.P. Austin Peralta

    He died the day after this?! Omg what a travesty.....what a brilliant keyboardist and sideman for flying lotus and others. The vocalist here is undeniably talented as well!

    Cada vez que veo a Natasha me acuerdo de Mon Laferte (y viceversa). Lo curioso es que me acabo de enterar que su madre es chilena (por ahí viene la cosa...). Que voz la muchacha, madre mía, y que versión de Goodbye Porkpie Hat, sublimes todos, en especial Natasha y Austin (qepd). Para enmarcar y escuchar todas las semanas

    Fuck. Austin was literally the best. I wish I could have met the guy before he died. Thinking of all the music we'll never get to hear because of his untimely exit has depressed me almost every day since learning about his death, but at least he left us with gems like this. RIP Austin

    Austin Peralta is like a Lee Morgan, an Eric Dolphy type of character. There just won't be another Austin Peralta. Damn I wish he was still here. 'The light that burned twice as bright, burned half as long'. If there's anymore footage of this show, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    This performance still gives me the exact same amount of chills as the first time I saw it. Hell, I feel as though the chills actually increase with each viewing! This is my kind of music. 2am in a small and dark smoky jazz club in the city with this music just happening before you... #Perfect

    Not to take away anything from either Peralta or Agrama but.....the collaboration is the definition of synergy. Just amazing...especially Agrama's visual, she drags you into the song. Surprised it has so few views, when I've listened to it at least 30 times this year! All love! RIP Peralta! Z-Boys 4eva!
