I was living in Austin and was at this taping. I wish I had the raw footage, Chet was hilarious! The outtakes would go viral! A lot of people left after an hour, but we stayed for the whole thing. Chet would stop a song and say he made a mistake and tell a funny story then continue. Still my favorite live show ever. All those crowd shots were done in the first 4 or 5 songs.

I was there also Keith, it was a tremendous show. It was probably 1am by the time they wrapped up, and wasn't very many left in the building. They did the finale about 11-11:30, so those that didn't want to stay could see the ending. I watched the show on TV, and it almost seemed like a different show.

Not sure what got me into playing the guitar, but I loved it for close to sixty years and admired what I could find of Chet. These days the pain and stumbles come close to bringing tears to my eyes, but I still try now and then. My mind still knows how, but my fingers just refuse to cooperate the way they used to.

Wonderful! For what it's worth, I've lived in Illinois for seventy-seven years, and there are no mountains! Don't be fooled by town names like Mt. Sterling or Mt. Carmel.
This was on PBS years ago and I recorded it on VHS. The station is in Peoria, about 80 miles away, and we're in the Illinois bottoms. At the time we had a sixty foot antenna and could receive the PBS station fairly well. As I recall the video was pretty bad, but the audio was okay. I still wish I could hear the sound made when that line of glass, or whatever, has a drum stick passed under it.
