Chad and Flea are locked in together beyond belief - it's almost as if they can read each other's minds. This level of musicianship comes from years and years of playing together as a rhythm section.
Considering one is a bass player and the other is a drummer it's only natural. The drums and bass have more in common than a bass and lead guitar do. Since flea is big on funk and slap it would only make more sense that the two can vibe so well. Hes basically playing the drums with a bass guitar.
Flea is the biggest ever influence on me as a bassist and musician. I’m so grateful for the inspiration and direction he has given me for my whole life as a bassist so far, which started when I was 11.....and I’m now 36...so that’s 25 years. Thanks Flea.
This is why they're one of the most successful bands of all time. The amount of talent in the chili peppers is unreal. The rhythm section is insane and John's guitar magic slapped on top is a recipe for special things
Why don't they make an album like this? They could make it kind of like a jazz album in the sense that they would just explore different catchy ideas while jamming and choose the best recordings! I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Honestly, I'd be more excited about that than their next album with RHCP.
Coltrane Cat if you haven't seen it yet you should look up chad smith Russia jam, Chad ,Flea,John and josh just jamming! Could be similar to what you're after!
John is pretty soulful too, as is Anthony. I'd say Flea and Chad are the heart of the band. Cause a heart has beats right? Actually you could say John and Anthony sold their souls at one time or another lol. All figurative bullshit of course...
I just love how well these two work together, out of the whole chilli peppers group Michael and chad are the ones that really seem to have natural chemistry to me.
They were five feet away from Flea and Chad Smith Jamming. Give them a break for filming their last glorious moments on earth before they were vaporized by the awesomeness.
The world has its great pairings, Abbot & Costello, Laurel & Hardy, Donnie & Marie, Sonny & Cher, R2D2 & C3P0, Starsky & Hutch, Beavis & Butthead, Bert & Ernie, Batman & Robin, Siegfried & Roy, Penn & Teller, Lennon & McCartney, Fred & Barney, The Captain & Tennille, and now finally added to this prestigious list, the great Flea & Chad.
in Anthony Kiedis is biography scar tissue he said that Chad Smith came out to LA to be an actor being a drummer was his second thing when he tried out for the band flea was used to carrying all the people that were trying out and losing them actually when Chad started playing flea said he actually started losing him and flee was trying to keep up a little rhcp history lesson they're both awesome
Saw them at the Joe a week ago, best concert ever. Chad gave an emotional thanks and sendoff to Nicklas Lidstrom, and then they brought him on stage. It was an amazing show.
Would've been really cool if he continued his line of basses. Could have featured artists and payment plans for student instruments and other such things.
dude ur so right.. it was hella crowded i was seeing them through my camara screen because everyone blocked my view from holding their camaras up so high... so all u people are lucky :)
Let's be practical. Flea may not be one of the best bassists of all time (that's a bit of an extreme statement), but you have to admit he is great in the context of his band (a kick ass band). On top of that he's just a wild fuck performer and that's half of the hype right?
My series of thoughts: Drummer looks like Ferrell. Lets post a funny comment about that fact. Hmm, lets just scroll down and see if anyone else did yet though. Yea, lets just watch the video...
Flea is very much leading this jam. Chad is a great listener, he needs very little incentive to follow what Flea does. In fact, he's so good at it, it almost seems as if they come up with the same ideas at the same time and it's mostly because of him. I admire Fleas creative input and musical flow very much too.
Chad Smith is a Force of Nature! I got to see him play the out chorus of STP "Plush" when RHCP and STP played Las Vegas! It must be seen to be believed. Literally transcendent to see how a drastically a groove and a song can change like that. Eric Kretz is no slouch, and he certainly was not in those days. It's just that Chad is a Force of Nature. In this video, he plays way too many notes when he first sits down, but he really relaxes and gets musical by the 4 minute mark.
Ini drum sm bassnyo bukan kawin lg sudahh,, la sudah nyatu pikiran mereka ni hemm ntah dkpck ngmg cuman biso respect dan angkat topi buat kalian berdua standing ovation nahhhh🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😱😱😱😱
It's almost as if they've played together before.
Lol
dont be ridiculous.
Yeah they should make a band
Have you guys heard about this Frusciante fellow? He seems like a great addition to the group.
JuanDanny I was also thinking about that Kiedis guy. I forgot what band he was in that made him famous, but he will be a great addition to the group.
Chad and Flea are locked in together beyond belief - it's almost as if they can read each other's minds. This level of musicianship comes from years and years of playing together as a rhythm section.
wow you're edgy asf lol
ach, the 3dge
Trevor I agree with you. I was thinking of the same exact thing while watching the video.
Ryan G how is he edgy??

Thanks Flea.
Same here man, i listen to flea when I'm 11, now 33 still do
Chads one of my biggest influences in drumming
@@robmeklosky1733 I've officially become obsessed 🤣
As much as i love Flea and Bass ,Chad Smith really killing the set, absolutely beast
He’s a great drummer
You're right I love Chad
I find him overrated
started a bass player and from there it gave me an idea of rhythm and eventually i just moved onto drums
@@robinhoodwasasocialist.1401 absolutely only the real ones will know and appreciate him
This is why they're one of the most successful bands of all time. The amount of talent in the chili peppers is unreal. The rhythm section is insane and John's guitar magic slapped on top is a recipe for special things
Amazing how Chad breaks into jazz at 6:45. Had no idea he could do that. May be one of the greatest drummers alive?
And so Flea matches him by playing a walking part.
Why don't they make an album like this? They could make it kind of like a jazz album in the sense that they would just explore different catchy ideas while jamming and choose the best recordings! I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Honestly, I'd be more excited about that than their next album with RHCP.

is that something we could buy or what? Please share a link or explain where I may get/check this out. I looked and didn't see anything... thanks!
+neofilm I'm just saying it might be a good idea, and that if it did exist I would buy it. I wish I could provide a link, as I'd buy it too! :)
zackattack94 Yeah you're right, I am a total idiot. And jazz sucks.
Jazz and RHCP colliding in the same sentence. Comical.
Flea and chad make this world so much better just with their jam sessions🤘
10/10 would throw $2 in the hat
They prolly say u need it more
0:57 - 01:19 this is one of my most favorite bass lines by Flea I've ever heard
Almost sounds like hes quoting a night in tunisia there
Woody Harrelson & Will Ferrel Strike Back
Ha! Have you seen the Beastie Boys skit/ tribiute with Ferrel & Co? Its great.
One skinny ass Woody lol
*niko bellic & will ferrell
10 years past meth, and cocaine Woody Harrelson
Ha_haaah!
6:08 when Chad hits Flea haha
I think he hit his non-existing China
No he means the background lol
🤯 ...It’s an expression for when an Artist is feeling another. Chad “hits” fleas soul w/ the groove/feels & Flea takes off! 🚀
@@gurbo7090 yes probably.
@@PalkoChris he literally hits him Mr Slow
These two guys are the soul of the RHCP.
I'd have to say the whole band is the soul of that group, it's a sum is greater than the parts thing
The engine.
Rythm sections can be like that...
John is pretty soulful too, as is Anthony. I'd say Flea and Chad are the heart of the band. Cause a heart has beats right? Actually you could say John and Anthony sold their souls at one time or another lol. All figurative bullshit of course...
Anthony is the soul. Chad the heart .flea the head. And john the sexe.
I just love how well these two work together, out of the whole chilli peppers group Michael and chad are the ones that really seem to have natural chemistry to me.
Fantastic Mr. Fox was an awesome movie...
Rhythm sections gotta be air-tight eh, I'd say John and Flea had some amazing chemistry too, when John wasn't going off on a guitar tangent
Nw.Caffers First time I see someone refer to him as Michael. Flea is catchier.
Michael 💀 shut up
Chad giving props to Flea w/o knowing he's one of the best drummers that has existed.
Observe, people. Four strings, two toms, three cymbals, one bass drum. No fancy kit needed, just skill.
Fake, that guy's wearing a shirt.
good point.
Flea makes love to the bass and Chad is a beast with impeccable feel
They were five feet away from Flea and Chad Smith Jamming. Give them a break for filming their last glorious moments on earth before they were vaporized by the awesomeness.
Captain Obvious reporting here - my fucking lord is Chad a tasteful, funky, sick ass drummer.
5:47 that long haired dude looks like he's holding a gun in his pocket against Chad :D
+Sakari Nieminen There's a few dudes hanging around there that look like serial killers...
no bro i think you are seeing his bulge hahahaha
It’s his erection he got from this jam
its amazing that they still jam like this after so many years. if u read anthony's book, scar tissue, u know that this is how they met.
Wow, thank you to everybody who made this video happen! thank you thank you thank you thank you!
In every red hot chilli pepper video there's always one who goes " ha it's will ferrel on drums! "
Ha it’s will ferrel on the drums!
Ha! Its will Ferrel on drums!
Basic bitches making basic jokes.
love his bass finish
THIS IS one of the coolest videos I've ever seen on youtubs!!! simply AWESOME!!! thanks man for sharing, and in such a good quality.
That synergy alone can write albums upon albums
This is an example as to why chad is my favorite drummer he knows how to incorporate the whole drum kit in just one “song”
i can listen hours and hours to this
Peppers have one of the best line-ups a band can ask for.
The fact that people care more about the similar look Chad has to Will more than the jam itself is sad.
Django Fett....if thats not will ferrell then who is it?
There you have it. One of the best drummer and bassist in the world together. These guys are fucking legends
2:15 Frusciante's guitar tech behind Chad
The flea bass the bass that flea never used in his entire carreer
This! This! Is greatness both! Greatness
what a treat
Fleabass looks like hybrid between Musicman and Modulus
Kinda...Love it either way...lime/pink..you bet.👍💕🎶🤘
Not even close.
Some of the best playing ive heard from both of them
Easily one of my most favorite musicians. Not to mention. " DAD ITS NEEDLES"
the entire time my eyes where half open, my head was bobbing to the jam and a big ole grim was on my face,...
dam that was awesome!
in Anthony Kiedis is biography scar tissue he said that Chad Smith came out to LA to be an actor being a drummer was his second thing when he tried out for the band flea was used to carrying all the people that were trying out and losing them actually when Chad started playing flea said he actually started losing him and flee was trying to keep up a little rhcp history lesson they're both awesome
I like how at 5:24 they r yelling for people to clear out, and no one moves, lol.
I needed that today......bassheadz
'Everybody out lets go'
Nah we're cool we'll stay here thanks.

Such energy cannot be contained to such a small stage
Cuanto fiato y onda musical tiene esta dupla-seccion ritmica, con razon RHCP suenan tan solidos, groovy.
yeah.... those rhcp boyz are unique in making sound and playing together...
Now that’s a serious sesh !!!
this vid never gets old.
I love that response
dude ur so right.. it was hella crowded

Great communication between these guys
Dos Bestias con mis dos instrumentos más amados. Lindísimo.
My man
god damnit. how do these people not smile??? even watching the superbowl halftime show my face almost ripped appart! i love RHCP!
my heart was ripped when i found out they weren't really playing... :( they had a backtrack

He is one of the best off al time. The most solo bassist like for example victor wooten suck in a band. But great bassist
willemm1998 that victor sucks ina band??? Ok mate... listen to an album called "Extraction" by wooten, howe, chambers. Then try again
willemm1998 Have you heard Bella Fleck and the Flecktones?
He is one of the greatest
He might well be in the top 15
Flea e Chad sem duvidas é a melhor cozinha do mundo...^^
The BEST in the WORLD! Without a doubt. . .
the best action for both of them
the real dynamic duo
chad is awesome
I love how he quotes jazz standards so much
Chad Smith è incredibile...
They live and die for the music. Fuckin' Genius !!!
