  • This video shows you how to make your own fiberglass Atlatl darts. The 6' fiber glass rods cost about 3.25 each. I use duct tape for fletching. And regular field points. A Dremel tool and a couple of bits will prepare the shaft. A Hot glue stick will secure the points. I made 16 darts and they fly really well. A finished dart can cost from 10-20.00. These fiberglass ones cost me
5.25 each to make including the points, tapes etc. minus the Dremel tool and 2 bits.

Great video Gary. I tried it and you're right, these fly really nice. I paid $4.18 with tax at home depot. I also put a glue on broadhead so no boring the head for me. Total cost was like $6 if I calculate the cost of the broadhead and duck tape fletching.

That’s awesome. I’m glad it helps. I have some glue on broad heads too. They will sometimes pull off in a bail of hay. They are hard to find in a bail of hay.

@@knightingalesaid The broadheads I used are not the tapered insert ones, they still slide on like a fieldpoint. I still cut the carbon cone off and used permanent cement construction glue to stick on the heads, which so far they seem like they're on permanently. it seems like these darts are indestructible with the steel primitive broadhead. How is everyone not using these as darts. I'm so happy I found your video. There is soo much benefits to using these. The bright orange is hard to lose (I've lost a couple of darts that were wood), I've hit stuff that would destroy a wood dart but these just keep going. And all for around $6.

roll wrapped carbon fiber tube from Good Wind Kites to join two rods,
also 0250 inch OD pull-traded carbon fiber rods. Work really well.
Visit an archery shop for points and fletching. add 0.25 two oz. brass slug behind the point.
AND be careful NOT to rip up your rotator cuff. If you do
Yoga can restore the range of motion and end the Pain.
    A wonderful hobbit!

Thanks for the comment! I will look into those carbon rods. I like flying sport kites too.

I just recently took up an obsession with Atlatles, (im an AR15 guy) and looking to build my own. Im finding that it's very difficult to source good 7' ash rods anywhere!!! At least not from anywhere that isnt charging a king's ransom for pre-fab atlatl darts.

Sorry I missed your post. They are 1/4” in diameter. 6’ long.
