In my life time Billy is untouchable. 35 years ago I stood 15 feet looking over his floor toms. That week I swapped 25 of my rock and roll albums for five of his. Hands down the untouchable Guru of my generation. Look at the joy in his face. G bless Billy
Billy was in the same Age Bracket as the Brecker’s - and was with the Band Dreams for two Columbia Lps around 1970. Band featured Will Lee/ DonGrolnick / Randy @Mike Brecker, John Abercrombie/Jeff Kent/ DonLubahn I was in that Business then and Billy lived in or near Mill Valley Ca he had a deal with CBS so I was able to talk to him in our Bookstore in the center of Town Really Great Guy Definitely Full Back Material! He was a true Leader in the Era of few Jazz / Rock / Fusion’s youth. Same with George Duke SF guy and we had just signed him at Epic I was the Only Person Left in the Resturaunt at the Myako Hotel where we were both staying. He walked over to my table and sat and had dinner with me. Again an amazing conversation he was so excited to get the CBS Deal and wanted to know what we had planned to propel his future. ? was always my answer I looked at him and told him he already had built a tremendous opportunity all he had to do was Work his Ass Off like our Office had to do every day. The pressure was so intense from Mgt of all Artists it was often miserable. The Artists were the true Geniuses that saved our jobs,
Billy Cobham is without a doubt THE GREATEST DRUMMER WHO HAS EVER LIVED!!! Needless to say his composing is'nt to shabby either. GOD BLESS YOU BILLY!! You always make me smile.
I don't know how many times I've posted this to Facebook over the years, but this is one of my go to jams. Billy Cobham is also my favorite drummer, and he still shreds after many decades! What a fantastic group of musicians.
I usually post it to those who think Bonham or Peart are the greatest drummers who ever lived and pose the question…could they dream of playing at this level?
Just saw a vid of Billy two weeks ago in Berlin. At 80 years old... he's about as inspirational as one man can be. But losing George is so damn tough. Thank you for posting, these two are just flying in this.
Billy Cobham is and will always be the most underrated and underappreciated drummer since the 1970s. This man is responsible for so many things. Too many to name. Every time he collaborated with George Duke it was like pure magic. I wish those cats would have done more stuff together.
The roll that starts at 04:40 is the most agressive, raw, emotional piece of drumming I've ever seen and heard in my life. It moved me so much. Only a drummer who has been through a lot in life would play like that in the moment. To combine those three elements with amazing technique is the hallmark of master musicianship. To scare us even more, he did it in time..Billy's the Real Deal!
Billy&George is like "peanut butter&jelly",They have been playing together sooo long, it's like opposite poles that create magnetism! The BEST FOR EVER!!
Billy Cobhams drumming seems....impossible yet here it is! this song is unbelievable and George Duke is King. Great performance by all including Mr. Larry Kimpel!
BILLY COBHAM , THERE ARE MANY DRUMMERS HERE AND THERE , LOTS OF TECHNIQUES , FAST AS HELL , ETC , VINNIES , PAULS , DAVES ...NOBODY , NONE OF THEM CAN COMPARE , EVEN IF THEY WOULD LIVE TWO LIFES !! WITH MASTER OF THEM ALL , BILLY ...
RIP to the true master of the keys - GD you were a big inspiration to me as young keyboardist growing up and your legacy will always live on in our hearts and fond memories! Play along with the greats in heaven forever!!!
Billy Cobham is pure power when he lets go. He is what every metalhead drummer wishes he could be, and what every power drummer wants to be (me especially)
COBHAM IS A BEAST!!!! also someone who is on the come-up is a guy named Billy Kilson i would say he is the next Cobham........both of these guys are ridiculous....
I have been watching this video for years. These guys are great. As far as the drumming, this stands out as the most powerful drumming I have ever seen.
I have seen these two and all that I can tell you is that when you see them-you get goose bumps all over and you just jump on the ride and ride with it! They are so awesome it isn't believable. Music is their roller coaster and you get on and ride it .Too awesome!
Amazing! Havent' listened to George Duke in a while. Incredible performance. And Billy Cobham's drum solo was just over the top...ridiculous talent. By far my favorite drummer ever since I was a kid. His intensity and creativity is insane.
I love this song, the contrast of the portions of the song that is fast, just hyper, and the portion of the song that is just mellow smooth. I love that.
these guys are considered the BEST OF THE BEST....period...hands down..... to be this good. you gotta know your shit fo sho. go billy, george and the bass player
When I watch that? All I can say is WHAAAAT! ? I feel when they look at each other, and cheese up? like they know they own it..? Great stuff. RIP George... Thanks for the good times...
He still plays the fusion thing better than anyone. His toms sound amazing as always. It just goes to show that a great musician carries his signature tone with him no matter what brand he plays.
Cobham is a beast....literally, and in any other way.
Worlds greatest drummer. Hands down
Billy cobham my drum giru getting better by the minute. Balls and endless stamina. Never ending god bless you billy amen
I don't know if you have seen this one with Billy early days. ruclips.net/video/NFjmWI-d6d4/видео.htmlsi=z9spLPequw4zgWJ9

Had dinner with this man while in Melbourne. Not only the worlds best drummer but a class act person. Thanks Billy for sharing the evening.

Off like our Office had to do every day. The pressure was so intense from Mgt of all Artists it was often miserable. The Artists were the true Geniuses that saved our jobs,
the bass player is the hero of this movie

2021 Still at awe at Cobham on the drums. Geroge Duke, Billy Cobham - classic! Just fucking second to none! Period!
How Billy keeps those samba syncopations against a 5/4 and still have room to make faces at the band is beyond me. These guys are omnipotent!
Billy Cobham is and will always be the most underrated and underappreciated drummer since the 1970s. This man is responsible for so many things. Too many to name. Every time he collaborated with George Duke it was like pure magic. I wish those cats would have done more stuff together.
NEVER underrated!
GMM brought me here, the music kept me here. Amazing bass
Super Human Sir Billy C

These guys are incredible!! Always love Billy and George!I've been a fan of both for over 35 years!!
Maestro billy cobham
🔥🎶💯👏👏
Wonderful complicity between these two geniuses.

What he said! LOL
Not bad for a 60 year old, eh? ;)
Billy can play amazingly fast with total control of his dynamics. He's the true GOAT of fusion drumming.
Exactly right!
It is very hard to beat Ronald Bruner jr. but if anyone can it has to be Billy Cobham!@
This is Billy at his Best!
I've watched this video for years. It's still a Musical Epiphany to me.
Larry Kimpel on Bass 🔥
Bill Cobham and George Duke 🔥🔥
Billy&George is like "peanut butter&jelly",They have been playing together sooo long, it's like opposite poles that create magnetism! The BEST FOR EVER!!
Billy Cobham is easily the best drummer i have ever seen.
That is amazing..... Billy !
U can't help but love them so much 😢
Billy Cobham is probably the BEST drummer for this song... in my opinion.
Jesus that bass line makes wanna jump and shake like mad. George plays with a back pain. Billy is just a god.
The most creative drummer on planet earth. No one is close
Billy Cobhams drumming seems....impossible yet here it is! this song is unbelievable and George Duke is King. Great performance by all including Mr. Larry Kimpel!
Why I play drums for 40 years ? Billy is the man ! Inspiration for life- Billy Cobham !
What a drummer. What a keyboards player. Pure class.

never heard such a solid groove in 5/4. billy's playing here is otherworldly.
George Duke with Billy Cobham - Rush Hour Love this .....
Pure genius, they were born to play together
R.I.P Dukey. Unparalleled. It came out of nowhere. So sad.
So sad he passed away when he did. A huge loss to the world of Jazz music.
What I admire in Billy is how he's devoted his entire life to developing his talent, you have to keep healthy to play like this at his age.
People dont realize how many drums were in his setup. There were I know for his Spectrum album 21 percussion pieces. Wow!!!
Yeah, just look at Roy Haynes!
Wow- no one, hits the drums at such speed and with such command, finesse and attack like Mr Billy Cobham, man he constantly makes my jaw drop.
you can see the joy of playing music in both george's and billy's faces. RIP george
It's so fun to see them having... fun!! They probably were good buddies in life. I would have loved to be at that specific show!!!
Anche se sono passati molti anni (penso una ventina), ricordo come fosse ieri quando l'hai suonata dal Vecchio Birraio. Stammi bene 🎸
COBHAM IS A BEAST!!!! also someone who is on the come-up is a guy named Billy Kilson i would say he is the next Cobham........both of these guys are ridiculous....
Billy Cobham invented what everybody else copies
The complicity between the two greats IS just incredible .
Billy Cobham is an awsome drummer. One of my favourites musicians. And George Duke is wonderfull too (RIP). Brasil miss you, George. Bravo, guys!
Billy Cobham is the greatest drummer ever!!🥁🥁🥁

My inspiration for over 40 years or so...the one and only Billy Cobham!!
The besf of the besf Billy for ever

They are by far in my list of most favorite musicians of all times.
I cried so hard when Mr. Duke passed
I have been watching this video for years. These guys are great. As far as the drumming, this stands out as the most powerful drumming I have ever seen.
Billy Cobham The World's Best
Good Lawd...this man has always and will forever be a beast on drums...been following him for a loooooong time...
I knew Cobham was good but seriously, this is such an energetic performance for someone his age. Superfit and superskilled drumming superhero.
Yes!
Billy loves the paradiddles and double paradiddles. He has a certain style that he excels at and this is it. Still sounds great!
I have seen these two and all that I can tell you is that when you see them-you get goose bumps all over and you just jump on the ride and ride with it! They are so awesome it isn't believable. Music is their roller coaster and you get on and ride it .Too awesome!

This Is Perfect... Fantastic !!!
I could watch/listen to allllllll day and night! This, definitely , jams! No way to describe them! Saw them- blew me away!
Billy Cobham is the an apex monster drummer. His first two solo albums clinched him as my favorite overall drummer back in the 70's, and he still is.
this is what chemistry sounds like
Fusion... !
Some of you thought Cobham was too old, and out of the "game' ... I don't think so !
What a joy to listen to ... AND ALSO TO WATCH!
1000% of musical essence.
I love this song, the contrast of the portions of the song that is fast, just hyper, and the portion of the song that is just mellow smooth. I love that.
They are both very very very talented musicians.
Look at George Duke on the keyboard aswell as Billy. Amazing stuff.
Ultimate duo. Wonderful collaboration. Eloquently funky yet jazzy all at once. Go head yall~!
Thanks God I lived this era.!
george, you will be missed. I remember attending the bongo fury concert in Austin Texas in june 75.First time I saw you in concert.
The right foot is special like no others. Still, the best drum set-arrangement to play, to hear, to see. to feel. WOW
Great band and Billy Cobham is a mothermonster on those drums . Damm he is a bad man on the skins!!!
RIP George You were amazing.
Duke's style was/is UNMISTAKABLE. In a WORLD of great keyboardists, that says something.
Happy Trails To You Sir Duke !
The unsung hero here is the base line.
Agreed
jazz bass players are always unsung heroes, lol
Oscar Moreno yeah! Larry Kimpel is seriously laying it down!
Don't worry, Oscar - people who know what's what are singing his praises. There are lots of us in the choir. :-)
Always 👌
Gotta love Billy...
He's just having such a frikkin' great time playing, it's simply amazing
Outstanding!! These guys represent true musicianship, pure mastery! 11 people disliked this? Puuhleez!
Always amazing to see and hear Cobham and Duke!
RIP Mr. Duke. I love your every musical phrase.
-Peter
Yep. If you're Mr Brubeck, you Take Five; if you're these guys you TAKE FIVE.
Smiles all round. Marvellous! :-)
I love the way he changes the volume of the drumming as the keys takes a solo groove but maintains the intensity of his drumming....
These guys are incredible. Unbelievable musicianship.
these guys are considered the BEST OF THE BEST....period...hands down..... to be this good. you gotta know your shit fo sho. go billy, george and the bass player

Fusion drumming like no one!! My favourite drummer since early 70's!!
Really..26 thumbs down??? Really ??? RIP George. You were one of the best. (And always will be..)
Billy's playing is so Great that the Microphone Faints !!!
He still plays the fusion thing better than anyone. His toms sound amazing as always. It just goes to show that a great musician carries his signature tone with him no matter what brand he plays.
Is there any scientist out there willing to estimate how many times Billy Cobham has hit a drum and cymbal in the course of his life?
