Having the index finger in the guard is still a valid technique. The best pistol shooter in the world, Eric Grauffel, shoots this way as do a few other top guys in ipsc/uspsa
Great video, man. Totally nostalgic for me, remembering my Uncle's 1911s that were nowhere to be found when he passed. Shot em a lot as a kid though. The Hi Power is most of the way done, with my fine tuning; Its a pip.
Bro giving off the total Thomas Magnum vibe. Dodgers hat, Hawaiian shirt. fantastic mustache and 1911’s. Keep up the good work Magnum PI. Love the square trigger guard on a 1911 BTW. Alchemy doing some good work🤠
I graduated high school in the late '70s and always love the Swenson style guns. A few years ago l finally got a Colt Combat Elite and would love to send it off to you guys for a full on Swenson conversion. Sadly, it'll never be in the budget. C'mon Powerball!!! Lol
I was that guy, I had to have my gun built the way I wanted it. Videkey(sp) trigger, Brown oval cut hammer, shaved Bo-Mar sights, rear of slide serrated to match the sights, lowered relief cut ejection port, slide flattened and serrated, Barsto barrel, cut and welded magwell and...squared, checkered trigger guard. it will be buried with me
I *still* shoot semiauto pistols like that. I got in the habit shooting Glocks back in the day and when I pick up a Glock 17 it’s the first thing I go for, that trigger guard.
@alchemy1911 I'm half-ish on the frag grips, swapped out for G10s...dumped the polymer trigger for an adjustable W.C. unit....came out really nice and shootable 👍
@@alchemy1911 I mean, Eli is wearing a dodgers hat, a Hawaiian shirt, and a Pepsi dial. Very much Thomas Magnum’s style. Plus he probably has short shorts on too.
If you have short money,😢, Iver Johnson put 3 cool mods on 1 pistol...Double stack, Squared guard, 6 inch barrel. Oh, and it's 45 Anti cow projectile.🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
I have a 70’s era Jim Hoag Colt Commander that’s a keeper. Squared TG, HC Frame, Blued Slide. A PROPER Classic. Hoag and Swenson were the originators of the Squared TriggerGuard from my understanding. The only downside in “the Day” was finding a carry Holster.
Richard Dettlehouser from Canyon Creek Custom does square triggers guards. Retired now. Springfield Armory, the only manufacturer that offers a square trigger guard in the Emissary line. Safari arms offered a square trigger guard back in the day. Could have been a better video.
@@pete-mz9vr This wasn't a video on every single square guard 1911 ever. There are plenty of names most people would have never heard of. Furthermore, this is a COMPANY channel.

I got a signed copy of the Vickers Guide. It’s an amazing book. Sits next my Playboy 50year anthology book. I own 2 books :-)

Yes, Except in the original show Magnum wore a Detroit Tigers hat and his 1911 was chambered in 9mm 👎
Great video, love square guard guns. Keep up the great content and showing off those amazing 1911s.
I will stay with my Wilson Combat 1911s, but you guys are improving. Nice hat 🎩!

Well, and, we do not work on customer-supplied guns, I am sorry!

I enjoy your videos , it prompted me to pick up the retro govt. I love it . I mean really love it .
Thank you!
Lena Miculek hooks her finger over the guard and wins championships so it is still valid.
There's a few serious shooters that still hook their finger on the trigger guard- it's just not wildly common today.
I *still* shoot semiauto pistols like that. I got in the habit shooting Glocks back in the day and when I pick up a Glock 17 it’s the first thing I go for, that trigger guard.
Love the videos
I love the square guard on my ACW Prime Target Two Tone!
I didn't know the origins of the square trigger guard.
Thanks Eli for this video, and yes, I am still wrong 😆
All I know is James Caan had a Hoag Square Guard 1911 in Thief (1981) and that’s enough for me.
Super badass.
Off the shelf Springfield Armory Emissary has a squared trigger guard, and the cool two tone vibe.
...but also has the frag pattern on the frame, a rail, and a tri-top cut on the slide.
@alchemy1911 I'm half-ish on the frag grips, swapped out for G10s...dumped the polymer trigger for an adjustable W.C. unit....came out really nice and shootable 👍
Hello from colorado, great video!!!
I have my old Bianchi 76 .45 ACP. It is of course heated and hand pulled.
I’m all about the square guard.
It's the heat.
A square-guard two-tone Prime Elite is my grail pistol.
I didn’t know Lower Alabama had their own ball cap 🧢
Hey Eli what’s the real difference in bull and bushing barrels?
Is it a Magnum PI Restomod? because if it is, I will need it.
Oh that old show? I bet no one even knows who Thomas Magnum is.
@@alchemy1911 I mean, Eli is wearing a dodgers hat, a Hawaiian shirt, and a Pepsi dial. Very much Thomas Magnum’s style. Plus he probably has short shorts on too.
The "new" Magnum PI used a STI Costa Comp. Maybe we will finally see that compensated quantico hicap?
@@chuckmadden18magnum's gun was a blank shooting 9mm so ....

Hi Eli I remember when I talked to Paul from pistol dynamics he said moon stars really half lineup for me another one lol 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Every ACW video drives me a little closer to getting an amazing ACW 1911. Might have to hit you up soon, good sir to talk this over.
Make it a square guard.

Shit, Eli I don't know that I can buy a 1911 from a Dodger fan. Yikes.
I understand that hat for today only. 6 for 6. 10 RBI’s. 50 50. 😂
What if I told you that I wasn't a Dodger's fan, and that this is a very convoluted hint at what the next restomod is going to be.
gotta be a 2011... 1911's unless actual vintage don't make sense
