I had heard Ms Lattimore's work on several singles she did as a solo artist, however, her best work clearly on backgrounds with Aretha. Her style reminds me of late Myrna Smith of the Sweet Inspirations. One of those soulful sirens who never achieved major soul success, though you'd never know it watching her here and on Aretha's "Don't Play That Song" rendition.
Possibly, several Aretha Franklin websites have credited Sweet Inspirations with the backing vocals including Cissy. None of these 3 look like her so I’m guessing they are miming to the song or backup singers.
I'll bet Dionne got tired of making classic records - and then having Aretha make them even MORE classic. There has never been anything more beautiful than Afro Aretha. That was a turning point in the culture. Also, does anyone know who those gorgeous and talented background singers are?
