His lyrical use of double entendres is amazing, "I'm ready I'm heavy, I’m Mercury, I am Freddy,..." Mercury being a HEAVY metal, Freddy Mercury....😵💫 C'MON! Even the title is a double entendre - "Illest of our Time". He's spent 10 years severely ill with Lyme's disease and autoimmunity. He's receiving treatment in Canada right now. He's firing warning shots in this one and making sure everyone takes notice. Nice to see him showing some attitude and confidence, being a little braggadocious. I Love it. "I, want to spread these tattered wings, hold 'em high, banished from the heavens but I'm knocking on the sky"......FIRE!!!!
He did a live stream right after the video dropped (on Twitch), and to see his genuine, emotional reaction to how many reaction channels had already posted videos within an hour of the songs release, was truly heartwarming. He shares his soul. This young man deserves every bit of love , support, and success he's finally getting. I couldn't be happier for him, especially for someone so talented, so driven, and without question, someone who has been forged through fire. Love this kid! Fan for life.

About the knocking on the heavens and depression being a blessing - he had signed a contract with Sony but because his Lyme disease made him too sick to tour at the time they dropped him. That had to be rough for him. Now he is independent and I believe he will stay that way because he views it as a blessing that he has been able to experiment with his music and follow his intuition as opposed to what a recording company wanted.
Right now he seems to be experimenting with a lot of different styles. He’s having fun with it. I am 100% along for the ride.
I recommend the Money Game part 1 & 2. If you like rap you’ll like Hunger also. Then to see other sides of his skills I highly recommend The Big Push: I shot the sheriff/road to Zion/Hip Hop. The Big Push is the band he was in until just recently. Check out him street singing with Sam Tompkins too.
He had stem cell surgery in 2016 and it saved his life but the mis-diagnosed Lyme disease did so much damage that he is still working to overcome it.

Guys....Freddy, is a reference to Freddy Mercury, the lead singer for the band Queen (who also happens to be a band from Britain, like Ren). Listen to the lyrics in that part again, it'll make more sense now.

It isn’t easy to catch in a first listen. ‘Chapeau’ as the French say. I listened a numerous times to many of Rens songs and still I get new links and meanings.

My favorite bar is the , "I'm heavy. Mercury. I am Freddy." Line.
He's heavy, cuz he's hitting hard. Coming out of the mike Tyson bar.
There's the obvious Freddy Mercury reference, a callback to him being Freddy Krueger at the beginning, another callback to a previous line about him being an alchemist, since alchemists thought Mercury was some kind of magical substance. Also, Mercury is a heavy metal on the periodic table, and will make you "ill". Then, Mercury was the Roman god of translators and interpreters, for the message he's trying to spread. He was also the god of wealth, good fortune, commerce, and thievery.
All of that being a callback to the Robin hood line. And somehow, after all that, I still feel like I forgot to mention something. 😂

He rap raps on multiple joints, u may like Sick Boi, for example. His busking of I Shot the Sheriff/Zion is the best reggae version I've heard of the song
