    I did cycle Norway this year! My dad recommended your channel to me and to make him proud I cycled all the way from Germany to the North Cape. It was amazing! Thank you for inspiring me to do this

    I did visit Norway in August and early September from the USA. Stayed in several AIRBNB apartments in the Voss, Granvin, Evanger, Dale and Hardangerfjord areas. I signed up for your 30 day plan also. This was my 4th vacation to Norway but my first where I brought my bicycle in a box to Norway. Iceland Air was wonderful from Minneapolis to Iceland to Bergen. $93.00 US for the bike each way. Had a wonderful stay in Norway and made several new friends and rode with a friend I made in the past. I shall return. Thanks Matthew for your inspiring videos.

    Hi Matthew
    Yeah I did cycle in Norway this year, I cycled from Oslo to Lofoten it is a trip that I will remember for the rest of my life.
    Thank you for your website and your videos, without them I would never have found the inspiration and courage to do it.

    "Of course it rained" :-D It looks like you met the storm Hans as well. I was riding the gravel roads Fanitullvegen, Panoramavegen and Mjølkevegen in the beginning of the storm - and it got muddy and dirty! Those rain showers!! So we headed west and did the Rallarvegen in good weather. Also did Bergen-Stavanger bikepacking in September. Nice on the west coast, quite hilly (as many, many places on the back roads in Norway), head wind, rain showers and sun every 15 minutes, three ferries, bus through the underwater tunnels and of course some sections not ideal for cycling (along the E39 highway - but expected it to be worse). Looking forward to your videos!!

      @matthewnorway  11 месяцев назад

      Good to hear you survived the storm and made the most of it. FYI There is a way to Stavanger that miss out the E39 and the sea tunnel: cyclenorway.com/routes/national-cycle-routes/overview/route-1/

      @@matthewnorway Thanks! I know that route and that ws the plan. The ferry runs Saturdays 9AM and 5.20PM in autumn. We were late from Bergen and wouldn't make the first one and went for the alternative along the E39 highway. The express bus is expensive. The local bus was a good alternative through the underwater tunnels this time.

    I rode the Bright Midnigt, a gravel event, this year and it was amazing, but really really tough to manage the elevation meters and the rain. It´s a 1000 kilometer route, where a lot of scenic places like Trollstigen and Geiranger are taken place. Trollstigen in the middle of a cloudy and later on rainy night was crazy and a bit frightening, even with the trolls that are welcomening you. I didn´t expect that. And the Geiranger route was just hard pedaling 21km straight upwards.. but a nice view. If there woulndn´t be so much rain in norway.. but definitely a very nice country to ride. I really did enjoy the offroad tracks where you be alone for hours and hours. I think i pretty much did´t see any pedestrians on the trip :D

    But it's really true:Norway has many sights that are picture perfect and mindblowing but there are real, daily life situations😀.I remember, that I once saw a picture postcard with a bit of a busy shopping road in a golden light. I thought , that's photo-shop or something. But then I lived in Røros, a little town south Trondheim, near the Swedish border, I saw the same picture in real ,standing on the same spot and the lights were golden. It was an afternoon in December. Wow😃

    Hi Matthew. In my younger days I lived in Bergen and cycled EVERY DAY all year round in what is known as the rain capital of Norway. On the worst stormy days, I cycled indoors at SATS. I remember NO rainy days, ONLY good days. The beauty of rain in cities is that many pedestrians stay at home so that it becomes easier to cycle on paths. The area around Bergen is packed with mountains that have roads. If you cycle from the center up to Fløyen and further up past Svarttjern, you will come to a road that runs on the west side of Ulriken. I guess it's 15 - 20 degrees and brutal. The trip from the center to the top takes about 25 - 30 minutes if you are in good shape. The road to Natlandsfjellet is also brutal and nice to cycle. So if you are in Bergen, you should definitely try the roads up to the mountains around the city. BTW: In Oslo: I cycled from Helsfyr to Tryvannstårnet in 54 minutes via Sognsvann where the last leg is to cycle UP the slalom hill by the tower. I don't think you have a chance to break that record.

    I don't ride full distances like Bikepackers would. I love to see your video's, but that's just not my kind of biking. I opted for the car+bike. I drove the entire length of Norway, then got my bike everywhere I stopped. I explored every city along the way, but also pieces of nature. I'm from the Netherlands, so I'm used to a lot of quality. So it took some getting used to in Norway. In some parts you literally cycle on a highway. But I did see that in the cities they are working hard, very hard to build cycle paths of perfect quality.
    Thank you for making these videos, I love them every time!

    I got my first gravel bike and did bikepacking this September (I live close Geiranger) and the plan was to make a little trip in my holidays in October, the weather is same as summer in this area, wet, wet and more wet and on the top of that temperatures got lower and the snow came. Two days ago I ride from Hellesylt to Leknes (Urke), going nice, the way back I was completly wet soI want to move now to a sunny country to ride the bike as much as I could. I am disenchanted with the weather in Norway! Don't know how much time I could stand it :(

    Hi Matthew, I also cycled in september this year in Norway on my recumbent bicycle. I have cycled in Norway twice before but that was long time ago and not been there ever since. Since there was a ferry service launched in 2022 between the Netherlands and Norway, it was very convenient to go there, so we did a 3 week tour in Southern Norway (Kristiansand to Oslo). Unfortunately the ferry company got bankrupt during our trip so we had to travel from Oslo to Kiel and then by train back home. Despite this issue it was a great trip with excellent weather (only a few rainy days). On my channel you can watch the videos of this trip. Looking forward to see more of Norway on your channel!

    I visited Norway for the first time in June, staying in Trondheim with my wife. No cycling but I did meet some nice folk at the parkrun. We had a hire car and drove to Roros, where we were recommended by a shopkeeper to go back via Stugudalen and Selbu. That route was well worth the extra miles with great views and very little traffic.

    Hi Matthew! I cycled in Norway this year! This summer I cycled from Nuorgam to Bugøynes (through Skiippagurra), Bugøynes to Kirkenes, Kirkenes to Vadsø (through Varangerbotn), and then back to Nuorgam! My long term plan is to ride following the coastal roads in Norway from Grense Jakobselv on the Norwegian-Russian border all the way to Gamle Svinesundsbroa on the Norwegian-Swedish border... because Norway is so beautiful and bike is of course the best way to experience it! So far in Norway I've ridden only from Grense Jakobselv - Bugøynes - Vadsø, and Tana Bru - Ifjord - Kunes - Børselv - Lakselv - Olderfjord - Nordkapp! I'll probably continue next year from Vadsø towards Vardø and Hamningberg and so on! :D
