Matthew I’ve watched all your videos and enjoyed every one. That being said I enjoyed this one the most. I’ve visited Norway four times from the U.S. on cycling holidays. Last year my riding was based out of Voss and The Hardanger Fjord area. I walked behind the waterfall, road along the Hardanger fjord, climbed the last switchback mountain and coasted downhill to Voss. Your video was a pleasant surprise I must return to Voss this summer to finish the ride I started last August. I started having chest pains while riding and riding became very painful. Returned home went to the emergency room, found out that I’d had at least two heart attacks and immediately had triple bypass surgery. Watching your video has inspired me to continue my rehabilitation! Thank you Sir.
Gosh! Good luck with your rehab and enjoy your return trip to Norway. I hope to cycle tour there one day, when the sun is shining. I will go last minute when the forecast is good (settled weather for a week).
Outstanding! I had a day in Bergen in 1998 and it is still one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to. The standout memory was the 4 hour ferry ride to Rysjedalsvika on Sognefjord. I've seen other parts of the Norwegian coast but never got to venture inland.
Great video Matthew. Back in 2022 my brother and I did Bergen - Voss. Him(45), being his first time. Was quite rightfully, a little nervous. Me(48) having done B-V more than few times, only became nevous when he told me that he'd done Zero training, none, ingenting! We finished after 9 hours. He dug deep that day. Super proud of my little brother! easy gears, spin those pedals, drink drink nibble nibble! REspect!
Awesome video bro, I'm doing the race this year. You know the Voss water is not taped in Voss, but from a sours called Voss in Vatnestøm. I have a friend who works at the factory.
Hi Matthew, I was in Bergen and the surrounding area (rode the Rallarvegen) last year at that time but I had no clue about this race. Only found out 7 months later after watching this video. Travesty! I'm seriously considering doing it this year. After going over the event website, it didn't explicitly state when the return bus departs from Voss. I assume it's the same day as the race and if you want to spend the night in Voss you need to arrange that on your own. Is that correct?
Forget the bus. It's easier to take the local train from Voss to Bergen (runs every hour). Yes just book your own accommodation in Voss - plenty of options.
You can contact Trek Bergen and ask if they have any bikes available for the race. Or, in Voss, you can rent a road bike here: www.bikethefjords.com/bike-rental
@matthewnorway Hmmmm OK. I was thinking of doing this linking up with the Eksingedalen loop to make a 3 or 4 day bikepacking route but not sure I like the idea of death road 7 back towards Bergen.
@matthewnorway - thankyou. So you think it would work.... ride the route from this video out to Voss. Do the Eksingedalen loop and then use the 48 back to Bergen? That be a nice 3 or 4 day bike packing trip? Any tips on stuff to see in particular... or is it best to drop you and email to discuss once I have the routes plotted?
Hii ,,, Iam Mahesh from India. My dream is to Explore the world adventurously and i decided to explore the world by cycling and iam going to start my journey in this September 2024,,any advice please 😒😒 Note: Ignore my english (grammar)😊

Probably the best introduction to a cycling video ever…. ❤
Nice touch with Grieg’s “Morgenstemning”

Fab intro!
Looks like a very interesting race/ride. How much vertical is there over the 165km?
Happy New year 🎉🥂🤙
Who is the composer of music at 9:18 ?
You know, VOSS water isn't from Voss, just marketing people who decided that Voss sounded better than Iveland 🤠
Long time no see. Frozen in Norway?

How can one hire a bike and do the ride (coming from overseas), it seems no one hire out road bike etc.

what would you say about our Arctic Race ( in North Norway)?😄
@MatthewNorway - Is this the same route that is on your website for the Bergen to Voss Day ride?
yes
@matthewnorway Hmmmm OK. I was thinking of doing this linking up with the Eksingedalen loop to make a 3 or 4 day bikepacking route but not sure I like the idea of death road 7 back towards Bergen.
@@Greg.Sutton take road 48 back towards Bergen.

And the Voss water isn’t even from Voss, they just use the name on tap water (really). Kudos to Beate!

You mentioned hiring a bike from Trek in Bergen. Do you have any details about that? Cost, etc?
Trek Bergen has talked about renting bikes, but nothing is in place right now: You can contact them for updates post@trekbergen.no
Super to see other people cycle around hotels ...
Small note - The part in the intro with the harbor and fishmarket is from stavanger. ( source, i live there :p )
Exactly!
Does the race discout link work for others? i tried both PC and mobile and the page is blank. As always, great video!

There is a water dispenser by the church in Voss. Its free, you should have gone there
You know Voss water is a hoax and isn't even from Voss 😅
