    Amazing ride. I'm planning a Norway bike trip this summer - considerably shorter, but hopefully rewarding. As a long-time Norway resident, and now citizen, it's about time. Btw, it's LindeSnes :-)

    On July 29 this year, after descending the Vistdalsheia into Eresfjord, I looked to the right towards Eikesdalen. The mountains were completely covered in dark clouds. That's why I decided not to cycle the Aursjovegen. I ended the day soaking wet in Oppdal. Thanks for bringing back that memory and for showing us the Aursjovegen.

      You made the right decision it's not worth going over in really bad weather. Better to wait and come back another day and you'll enjoy it 10 times more knowing you had to waited a long time for this experience!

      The whole route including all Points of interest (ferries timetables, hotels/campsites, food shops, etc) is available on Cycle Norway's membership page. You can also ask questions in our membership forum. If you're planning to cycle in Norway this August I think it's worth the investment. cyclenorway.com/routes/norse-all-road-series/overview/fjord-norway/

    Best wishes and thank you for any help.

    This hooked me up and definately wanna do this ride in 2024. Would you say, it's better going from north to south, or do you think the other direction would be equally good?
    I rode in norway this year the first time ever, during a round trip, but only did Kristiansand to Sandefjord. And that already blew my mind

    I just got this channel suggested by youtube when watching some GCN-videoes. I found those to be quite good, but I mean this is outstanding quality Matthew. And so few subscribers! Do you usually work for National Geographic or what🙂? Thank you so much for sharing this on you tube, just for all us to see, for free, actually.. Are you doing all this and riding all alone or have a partner on the way that we don't see?

      Just me on a bike with a small drone, gopro and point and shoot camera. The footage is not very professional but I spend a lot of time on edit which does some magic. I appreciate that you appreciate the work gone in to these videos!

    Hey Matthew! I want do this trip in the beginning of september and would love to have a gpx of the route. Is there some way to download it?
    Edit: Replacement bus from Oslo to Oppdal. Seems like I can't get my bike there until the 5th of September. Is it possible (harder/easier) to go from Stavanger up to Oppdal?

    • @matthewnorway
      @matthewnorway  2 года назад

      I have a detailed route from Stavanger to Oppdal that features many P.O.I's and plenty of information regarding accommodation, food options, etc. The price is 15 euros and that money goes to supporting the Cycle Norway organisation. Send me your email address and you will receive a PayPal request. Once paid a link will be sent to your email where you can access the route, and download the gps file, etc. And yes going from Stavanger to Oppdal is totally fine and perhaps better as you have the prevailing winds on your back.

  • @Biking360
    @Biking360 2 года назад +1

    Absolutely stunning. An incredible ride and beautifully narrated and edited. I'd love to do this ride but question if I'd be fit enough. I recently completed the Mae Hong Son Loop here in Thailand. I rode with a traditional touring set-up that consisted of 600 km with 10,000 metres of climbing with plenty of climbs of 1,000 metres with steep gradients. However, that took me 14 days, including three rest days. Realistically I think much over 1,200 metres of climbing and 100 km a day would be too much for me. With those kinds of limitations do you think it's possible to do this ride over something like four weeks and still have sufficient places to stay/set up camp? I'd really appreciate your opinion on this as after watching your video I now want to do this ride next year in the summer. Thanks Matthew. JP the old guy... but still giving it a go!

    • @matthewnorway
      @matthewnorway  2 года назад

      The series plans to show you in detail what to expect and the options you have along the way. I'll also do a video after the series in February/March with more practical details about the climbs and route. From reading what you wrote my gut feeling is yes you can do this over 4 weeks. Some of the mountain passes have cabins at the top to break the journey up. But as I mentioned all this info is coming in the videos ahead.

      @@matthewnorway Thanks Matthew. That's brilliant. I've already arranged to do LEGOG with a friend in May and now intend to do this ride on the back of it. I'll watch with interest all the up and coming videos in the series. Take care and ride safe. JP
