As a trucker i recommend staying off 2+1 highways. Sometimes it goes into really tight one lanes and if you are on that when a truck comes. It becomes very dangerous for you!
@@rumberajana It's different in different parts of the country. Up north where he filmed this it's really bad for like 2-3 months every summer. But i live in the south on an island in the baltic and we have almost no mosquitos here.
@@rumberajana Normally, you get rid of the mosquitos by staying above the tree line. In the wooded areas though, they are terrible. Yet another reason to love winter up north. In the southern part of the country, where most people live, it is not really a problem.
Nice trip! The remaining trees on the clear cuttings are either naturvärdesträd (trees of particular ecological value, forbidden by law to cut), utvecklingsträd (trees with potential of becoming naturvärdesträd in the next generation) or contains some biotope or cultural valus worth saving. Imho this is one of the best things that has happened to Swedish enviromental law in a long time, so much nicer than the full-on clear cuttings. It also helps fungus stay alive when some trees are keept :) .
The pants you bought are a high end brand here in Sweden, Klättermusen. As a Swede, this adventure should be very fun to follow, looking forward to it. Subscribed!
The toponyms are mostly in Finnish (sometimes also in Saami) - that may explain why knowledge of Swedish doesn't help in understanding or pronouncing them. Great video again Ryan!
Du är otrooooolig Ryan!! Olé olé olé😊 and your mum too,,i just want to give her a hug, she's so sweet 🤗 oh,,the trees left standing are "seed trees" they have to leave a few when they cut the other trees down. The idea is that the trees remaining are making new trees, when the seeds are falling to the ground.
So excitied about the collab between you and Bike Touring Mike. I have been watching you and him for YEARS!. Cant wait to see those episodes. Great stuff Ryan.......keep going.
I just want you to know that in all stores in Sweden we have canned beans that you were looking for. Black, red and white beans. But they don’t stand together with the taco-stuf. Just ask the staff next time! 🤓☝️ Have a great time! And welcome to Sweden!
Just woke up, having my swedish morning coffee together with you Ryan and this awesome video! You’re a great storyteller! Can’t wait for the next episodes. Lycka till på resan 🇸🇪👏
Suveränt Ryan! Thanks for doing this...I myself just got back to Sweden after 28 years, had lived there for two playing hockey and going to school very much like you!!! Excellent memories you've brought back up :)
Ryan, It seems that no matter the conditions you are presented you prevail with a smile. That positive attitude of yours gets you where you need to go in this life. I enjoy your videos so much, we need more "Ryans" in this world. Happy Trials! Carmen from Fargo
My family is from Sweden but I've never been. Thank you so much for filming this trip. This would be a dream ride for me and my son and you're giving me ideas on how to do it!
It is so good to see you out there again. Stay safe and have fun in Sweden. My grandparents were from Sweden and through your travels there I can see that country from top to bottom. 😊
Swedish cyclist here. Thanks for posting this clip. I grew up in Malmö and went to high school there ten years before you, so seeing those old Malmö photos was a trip down memory lane. Also, a cycling buddy of mine made this trip last year, albeit on the tarmac. I'll be sure to follow this series!
Ryan you are so inspiring your energy is contagious! I bought my first bike! I’ve been doing a little bit at a time! It’s been a while! 🫣 I remember you had someone on your channel that said “The more they are outside, the better they feel inside.” That really resonated with me! I can’t wait to see more of your Sweden Adventure!!😀😀
In Scotland, the forestry leave single trees for the birds (mainly raptors) to use after an area has been cleared. Great video and look forward to seeing the UK edition at some point 😊
Welcome to Sweden! We moved here (the south east) a year ago from England. I cycle a lot, but haven't ventured so far north yet. To answer your question, on clear felling, harvesting contractors are required to leave (I believe) 5 trees per hectare. So, a clearcut isn't quite a clearcut.
Hey Ryan, I just wanted to say I’m so glad I’ve found your videos around a year ago. I’ve got myself a good bike and components all with my own money at just 16. My riding since whatching your videos has gone from 30 miles max on a ride to around 100 miles pretty often. I’m going to be hopefully be going on a short trip that’s around 2 days all because of you. Thanks so much for the inspiration and crazy cool videos.
I said it before but I got to tell you again Ryan, your Swedish adventure really makes me want to visit and ride Sweden!! Thanks again for this series !!
As always, your videos are incredible, entertaining, and inspiring. Watching this is getting me pumped for my own bikepacking trip down the New Mexico Off Road Runner and the Monumental Loop. At least I won't have the mosquitoes to contend with, lol. Keep up the awesome work my friend, we need more positivity like this in the world. Peace.
Ah man, I never knew you had such a strong connection to Sweden like this! In four days time, I'm actually off on my first bikepacking trip, going around lake Vänern. You were one of the people whose adventures inspired me to take this on. Välkommen till Sverige Ryan, kul att ha dig här bror!!
I'm less than 2 minutes in and already envious (in the best way). Sweden is definitely on my bucket list, and cycling looks like such a great way to get around. I'm going to be following this trip with great interest!!
I was waiting for this series for a good time, and thankfully here it is! I'm happy for you, Ryan, and grateful you chose to share with us your adventure and a little piece of Sweden! I know you're already at home, but I'm wishing you well on your trip on the next videos. And for the mosquitoes, I wish they starve! Greetings from Brazil!
Yet another well-edited, well-presented and engaging video! Look forward to more. They give me that bikepacking adventure fix when I can't get out myself. Haven't found any other similar channels that come close to be honest. Never stop never stopping Ryan!
Another Doozy from Duzer! So nice to not go thru the physical, mental, and emotional challenges you endure in the travel, prep, and execution in our behalf! Gotta love the Swedish architecture, their love of the outdoors, your lingual abilities, et al! Can't wait to see and learn more from this epic and "nostalgic" return to Sweden. Mega kudos to the editing and your willingness to share such experiences with us. ENJOY THE LUTEFISKE!! 🙂
I was watching your live video when you announced this trip, and i was waiting for the vids to come out.... then you released right in the middle of RAGBRAI!!! D'oh!!! Too much to do last week to sit in my tent and watch RUclips. Finally home from RAGBRAI (thanks for taking a selfie with me in Sioux City!) so i can sit down and watch your adventure. And look at high school Duzer! Lol, you were always a dork (i mean that with love, i'm a dork too)
Dear, Ryan, firstly, you make me smile and feel happy, just to kind of being with you on your Euro Divide Trail! I do love your wonderful way of inviting us your many subscribers and followers to share your adventures on bike! So now I am just enjoying this frist Episode 1 here in Sweden, and I would love to cycle the same route Lord God willing one day! God bless you always as well as your whole family and loved ones as well! Varma hälsningar från Sverige! Härligt att du dessutom varit utbytes student och talar bra svenska! Stort TACK till dig Ryan! Du är toppen! 🙂🙂💯👌👍👍👍💖💝💖
Ryan so cool to see you finally in Sweden. I lived in the north of Finland years ago riding a bike in the dirt tracks and trails. You chose the best time (apart from mosquitos), the midnight sun is weird but winter is another matter.......
Hi Ryan. Love the video! This is my first time watching you and you've just gained a new subscriber, excellent work. The reason why they dont cut down all the trees is because those trees spread seeds, so it can grow new ones after the old trees are cut down. Looking forward to seeing more of your content. :)
In Scotland we also have an "allemansratten" called the Scottish access code or colloquially "the right to roam". It's pretty special, and as you say there are vey few countries that allow people complete access to nature - the way it should be.
Great start with this vid buddy Sweden looks amazing look forward to you seeing Mike as I follow him to keep up these amazing videos your an inspiration to us all
Nice! Fig Bars for the win! Also this guy, making it cool to get rides from mom again! Ha ha We have the exact same bikepack set up except for the bike , Ride On Ryan! 💪
wow! cant wait to see your adventure through my home country. i love to watch videos of people exploring places in Sweden so that i get to see places i never would have on my own.
8:23 - That image of you tapping the SAS plane brings back childhood memories, as I used to do the exact same thing. From the age of 7, I was sent to Sweden by myslef for a month in winter and a month in summer due to my Mum being Swedish and 90% of my family living there (My Dad had a very small family). My Grandfather and I used to travel all around Sweden as he used to compete in shooting (target) competitions. We once drove from Gothenburg up to Lycksele (which is only 2/3rds up Sweden but getting near the Artic Circle) - Took us 3 days but also one of my fondest memories growing up, except for the giant mosquitos up north. Sweden's magical and I love the place with all my heart.
Love following your epic adventures, and this one is closer to home than most of them which adds a little something something. Here we live in Norway the mosquitos have been extra bad this summer, so probably the same deal in Sweden.
Super video! Nice to see your journey right from the very, very start in Boulder! Should I ever (my dream!) cross the US on a bike, I definetely will visit!
great to see this. I always loved Sweden and felt in love after spending two weeks last year there. I will follow your trip and looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks for the video, It's so beautiful. I had similar problems with the Alaska state bird (mosquito) in the interior when I pulled over to pee in the bush.

Ryan,
If you sing your Olé song you will keep the wolves and bears away.
But the Moose will come and chase you.
Love your videos.
30:15 As a swede i am proud to see you already mastered the mosquito repellant setting-up-the-tent-dance. Very well executed.
Does it ever let up? And how do you enjoy time outside?

I love all your videos but especially this one. I find the personal insights into your past particularly impressive
Thank you so much for your generosity!! Lots more to come
Yes! Way to go, Duzer! Excited for the series. I look forward to your videos more than any. Thanks for all you do.
Awww, Thank you so much for your generosity!!
Dude, you are the most American person I have seen on RUclips. Keep it real and I look forward to future episodes!
Wow, that's an impressive episode to start with! Can't wait for the mosquito misery that is coming up in the next couple of episodes. Haha ;-)
14k. Nice sub count.
This brings back so many memories for me! I, too, was lucky enough to be an exchange student in Sweden in 1995-1996. I loved it there so much ❤
No way!!! That’s so cool!!
I love your storytelling and positivity ❤. Great filming and editing, too.
Looking forward to seeing the whole journey.
