I thought you did a great job in emphasizing the practical, i.e., just buy what you need for your intended hunt and don't overspend to get a good rifle and scope. Let me add that in addition to accuracy, bolt action rifles teach shot discipline, - you are more inclined to make each shot count. As to rifle weight, I confess a preference for heavier wood stocks - my CZ 457 22LR is a work of art and very accurate. But if you are tramping in the woods all day stalking that big buck, a polymer stock is easier on your shoulder. Unfortunately I live on the "right" coast, otherwise I would head out to your range for a few lessons. God speed!!!!
