- On this episode of Quinlan's Corner, we mean, the Hornady Podcast, Seth is joined by Senior Ballistician, Jayden Quinlan. With hunting season right around the corner, the guys take an in-depth look at Jayden's hunting rifle. They discuss each individual component and how and why it is used. We hope you enjoy this episode with our very own, Jayden Quinlan!
Everyone take note. THIS is the kind of content that intrigues many if not most of us. Way to go Hornady
Thank you for embracing Quinlan's corner.👍🏼
Our pleasure!
Yesss please keep doing these. I'm a nerd and love to see what others are doing for certain tasks or roles.
Yes, make Quinlan's Corner a formal series! I am interested in the PRC lineup and setting up the rifle components to match the mission.
Love to see the hunting rifles in depth like this.
Very interesting to hear the story and thought process of building a personal rifle from a guy with that kind of knowledge. Enjoyed it.
Definitely like the format of this show. Great to see what the great-and-good at Hornady use and, more importantly, why.
It be great to see Seth's set up too. I remember him talking about his "one gun" being the 7prc - let's see it!
Love this, definitely continue the series!
Yes to this. We all have a setup for a mission in mind and hearing what you guys run is great.
Man what a simple topic that morphed into an all time great Hornady pod cast.
No doubt!
👍 I Love Both The Podcast Name and The Format To Discuss "Rifle Builds" and Why You Chose The Components That You Did! 🥳
Excellent program
Yep!! Do this with everyone. Have them come in with their complete kit..
Keep doing these please. Also if you could drop all the info in the notes so we can look it up. Thanks for a quality podcast.
Nice build, and I like that you talked about the "why" each component was chosen
Yup this will make a great series
Great podcast, I have really enjoyed the technical data over the last several years and I enjoyed this one. I love the idea of well built multi purpose rifles.
This is perfect timing. Just sent my Tikka Action out to Drew's precision for a 7mm PRC, barrel. Can't wait to get it back.
This is great stuff! It really helps me choose my gear wisely which in turns saves me money.
I would also like to see an episode or just more detail on Quinlan’s dope card. Specifically the gun mph.
Great episode, more of these please!
Will do!
Keep them coming. This is a good idea for content.
Thanks, will do!
Hey Seth and Jayden
Awesome show on your hunting rifle setup. Was hoping you'd be able to drop a screenshot or pic of that dope card. I have one of my own but there were some things about Jaydens that really seemed useful - and it was really compact.
If you can share it would be awesome.
Cheers
Cam from Cape Town South Africa
Did Seth slip a Letterkenny reference in the opening? 🤘🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🤘
Yeah, he gets a little squirrely
Definitely want more of these
Appreciate building up mental aspects of hunting components. Practice is important aspect together with components. I have my own favorites that work for me and not surprising they are same for some and different for others. Good job and great guy to have as your guet
Hot damn seth that stache!!!!
Dear Hornady please do an episode on transonic velocity region, and why we over emphasize the importance of this region. Thanks!
5 min in to the podcast and I am ready for part 5, 6 ,& 7
Love it,keep it up guys!
I sure would like a good look at that dope card and the process of building one just like it. That is a very thoughtful setup.
As a gun nerd I love this, it’s what sparked my drive for every aspect shooting that I’ve done. Keep them coming and let’s hear about those every day carries, preferred shotguns, match rifles, all of them!
P.S. is it true that Seth can beat anyone at Hornady in a push up contest? That’s the word on the street 🤷♂️
I loved this breakdown, I can't wait to see more!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This style of content is great and I hope you guys continue to do these!
Thanks a bunch!
Love all the shows, let's get the t shirts going ,, amazing info
Thanks boys.
This is great.
I'm guns and gear geek . I love seeing what people run . I also wanna know thier WHY .
Awesome video dudes
I wanna see everyone's hunting rig at Hornady
"And that's whats I appreciates abouts ya!"
Because Letterkenny.
LOL
We were talking about hunting setups the other day
That's fabulous. Bring the merch!
Good addition to the podcast and I just want the file for the dope card lol.
Definitely more of these! 👍👍
Deal!
I would like to see an episode on the Handgun Hunter ammo and the Companion Carbine.
Can I use the same ammo on both? Or do I need both handgun hunter and leverevolution? If so, why? If not, why?
Would love to see a short with the Q’s range card.
Yes yes indeed more please thank you
Love this idea
I am a hunter, not a competition shooter, and I got a lot out of this
Just an idea you might want to look at the hatch outwest bipod, I love mine, and I think it might eleminate the second bipod you have to carry
Very Good information, Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I want a Seths’ Corner. He’s a great host, and likes the .257 Bob.
I would love to see different rifle set ups and explain why they run them the way they do.
Thanks guys
Our pleasure!
Keep these up! Yes, we absolutely want to know why people build the rifles they build!
Right on!
YES PLEASE…Love it
I might see you in Wyoming. I'll be there in October with a cow elk tag and a 7mm rem mag in hand
Excellent idea Seth. I would really like to see miles 6arc gas gun better switching to a bolt
Good show 😊
Thanks! 😃
Do an in depth episode on Myles’ PRS rifle and match gear
Keep this Going fellas!
Will do! Thanks for watching!
If you could wedge in a straight walled revolver or single shot set up for hunting deer and elk that would be appreciated.
you opened a can of worms with the "dangling DOPE card" and mph. More info pease. Very interesting.
More to come!
Great podcast. Keep this series going. What does a guy got to do to get that excel file Jayden uses for dope? lol
I like cool stuff as much as the next guy, and...
if this becomes an ongoing series, I hope you're going to show setups that a large % of Americans hunters can actually afford.
And a setup for an eastern hunter who never expects to shoot over 300 yards. That scope may be cool out west, but it would be absurd here.
How do yall feel and what is your experience with a 22in barrel vs 24 inch barrel on a 7mm PRC? Looking to build one soon.
Great episode! Not sure if I missed it but did you go over current bullet selection?
Great video. Did he say how many pounds his rifle and optic were? With the Harris bipod n his pack, it was not a light rig.
We will have to put that in the next episode! It's really not too heavy
@@hornady thank you
Freak in the excel sheets 🤣🤣🤣
He's crashed computers with it
@@hornady impressive
Can we get a close up of his DOPE card please!
We will get something out soon
Can you show what kinda sling he was talking about..
How much does the whole set up weigh?
Do you use factory or reload
6.8 WESTERN!!!
It’s become clear i need to “up my game” on rifles.
Your probably fine with what you have. Practice and know your ethical limitations and your all set.
What was the name on the stock. It didn’t get translated well in transcript??? Thanks. Great podcast
Grayboe is the brand. Phoenix is the model
You asked for suggestions. Get to the topic more quickly the audience need not forward through five minutes of small talk.
Anyone catch how much the gun weighs and the barrel length?
We will have to make sure we do that in future episodes! I will find out on Jayden’s
Not probably but definitely devout followers out there
The GWOT somehow transformed hunting rifles into sniper rifles. Long barrels and target style stocks make for a nice shooting rifle but sucks to carry. The Mauser 98 and its children (M70 & M77) are a much better action for a hunting rifle than the 700 platform
I'll agree on the long barrels. But these new stocks offer a lot of upgrades for equal weight or less in some instances. As for the actions, I only have experience on rem700 and gas guns so I can't make an argument there.
I hunt with both the Model 70 pre 64 and post and also with Model 700 and Ruger 77 and I like them all ! I will say my Remington’s are Varmint rifles/Deer Antelope rifles verse Model 70 just Big Game
@@clintivy623 I totally understand wanting the most ergonomic stock possible, I have a tikka in a McMillan a3 and it’s great for supported positions but sucks to carry when stalking or shooting offhand. There’s nothing wrong With a 700 action I just find a control round feed action to be more durable and reliable. A three position safety is almost a must, I hate a bolt that isn’t locked closed.
@@Westerner_ I can respect that. I haven't had an issue carrying mine.
What bullet?
time-stamps please
guys i`m sorry to have to say this but your ammo SUCKS. i tried the precision hunter and the superformance out of my tikka t3X in 308 and my howa 300 win mag and both
cant even get to 1 moa. with sako ammo both are well unter 1 moa.
The intro was way too long.
Pure advertising. No thanks.
FIRST #1
That rifle is Woke....
🚨 If Horneday Wants To Make More Money (🤑), They Need To Stop Promoting a "One Gun Solution" (🛑) and Promote "The Best Cartridge For a Particular Application"! 🤪 Us "Gun Nuts" Won't Mind! 🌰🐿
Amen
Ron you forgot to mention long range hunting too which is unethical😳 60+ years of hunting reloading and collecting hundreds of rifles and building g many many custom rifles and if we want to see hunting survive we must follow ethical rules or non hunters will end our world of hunting and firearms and it’s already in place to take away all guns from the general population
@edwardabrams4972 Unfortunately, It's Already Happening! Jayden Was Just Talking About His "Ethical Hunting Limit" As Being 1/2 Mile! Just Rediculous! 🤮
