Do you prefer a lead acid or lithium battery?

Anytime I need to swap a battery in either my motorcycles or my cars I switch over to lithium. I love being able to lose weight while increasing cold cranking power. They're expensive but worth it in my opinion.

Hey Brother! You look good, so I’m hoping your back is better and you’ll be back to riding soon. My $0.02: as a former pro mechanic, I was trained to always disconnect the negative battery terminal first. Since the chassis in a 12V DC-powered vehicle is ground/earth, if you physically touch any grounded metal part of the chassis (like those frame rails surrounding your battery) with a wrench or your skin while holding same, you will likely complete a circuit. The resulting arc/spark and/or shock will get your attention. It takes only 100mA to stop your clock, and it’s prudent to avoid an arc/spark near a possibly gassing battery. Additionally, I usually prefer a nut driver and/or a 1/4” drive 10mm socket (stubby ratchet choked-up to limit torque) on those soft fasteners. To me, it’s too easy to strip the slots on the bolt head with a screwdriver and/or not get enough torque on them, especially when stacking terminals under them for battery tender leads, and other direct-to-battery terminal connected devices. We were trained to put white lube or even vaseline on the tightened terminals to avoid corrosion, but those are messy and tend to liquify over time in elevated temperatures. They make drying spray corrosion inhibitors which are a better choice used sparingly. Finally, Ducati is still using the same exact battery on MTS V4 models as the original ‘10-up MTS1200’s (YT12B-BS). I just found it on eBay for $70 w/s&h for a new OEM Yuasa AGM battery, which is about double of what I paid 5yrs or so ago to replace the original battery.. I like the small size and reasonable price, but I’ve always scratched my head as to why an electrically-demanding electronically-laden model designed to be an ADV tourer has such a small-capacity battery…especially when you hear those traditional non-gear reduction Ducati starters crank s-l-o-w-l-y, LOL!

@@gonzo221 You must live in a climatically favorable area. You probably don't keep your bike in the winter and don't start it in very cold conditions, because in that case LiFePO4 batteries are very bad. Engine start can be annoying :-), personal experience.

Hi Rembo, maybe good to know. I picked up my multistrada RS last week and it comes standard with the lithium battery. Today I received a call from the dealer that I need to exchange the battery for a normal battery. Tests show that the lithium battery becomes too hot and can damage your bike. It's a shame because the lithium is super light. I would still check with your dealer to avoid problems. Good luck with your channel and will continue to enjoy following you

Couldn't tell you the last time I've had to add the acid to a new battery. Is this a USA thing? Here in the UK I'm pretty sure all the car and bike batteries are ready to go off the shelf and maintenance-free.

12,000 miles, 1.5 years and it won’t hold a charge

@@RemboUSMC I have 10,250km (6,400 miles) on it and the battery is holding voltage great > Yuasa YT12B-BS, AGM type. Over the winter it is on voltage maintenance - my battery charger is NOCO Genius5.

Here in the Northeast, lithium is 'no bueno'...agm is surely way to go. I follow up with a little dielectric grease on my battery terminals.

You completely block the camera with your arm when you install the battery. Isn’t the whole point of this video to show how you install the battery

Hi Rembo, I like your channel very much, I also have V4 Pikes Peak. I don't see a link to "buy me a coffee" on your site? Do you have any PayPal account that I would appreciate your work and excellent posts not only with words and praise :-)

I have to be honest with you, I know that RUclips will allow me to do that, but I really prefer to grow the site organically and I don’t want to make this channel about money.
