I don't know a lot about chess. I love the game but I'm terrible at it. Hi Gotham, did you see the results from the current TCEC, where Leela has been knocked out (!) and the final will be between Stockfish and Komodo Dragon? Going into the Super Final, Stockfish was the only undefeated engine and finished first in the league table (though Komodo managed more wins), and Stockfish managed to beat Komodo once. The superfinal is likely to be really interesting, but Stockfish is a big favourite. More significantly, it breaks the stranglehold Stockfish and Leela have had on computer chess, and for the first time in a long time the final won't include a pure neural net, but instead two programs that mix a neural net and hand-crafted evaluations. We've come a long way from AlphaZero! Also significant is that Komodo is a commercial closed-source engine whereas Stockfish and Leela are open source (and help each other out).
I'm convinced Magnus is from another planet. He sees beyond what even great chess players do. Intentionally pinning a piece after weakening pawn structure with it.. Magnus is on another level, like he is toying with his opponent.
