I've been thinking about yesterday and I actually think players would be able to give their spot to Ding Liren. Not because they "give" them their spot, but because FIDE takes in replacements based on rating.

Well, Ding Liren would CLEARLY be the next guy up if I'm not mistaken, assuming they don't have any reason to pick someone based on a different . . . something. In other words, it seems like they *should* have Ding Liren as the "replacement" in that scenario unless some other factors are at play.

That Levon v Keymer game was the definition of "there's levels to this sht".

Always makes me laugh, and is always true…but for the fact there’s no way I’d have gotten to that stage of the game without hanging many pieces beforehand. 😂
Also, I love when you allow yourself to give insight into what madness Stockfish offers up as an escape route. Not only is it fascinating and enlightening (if a little infuriating…”shut up computer”) - but it’s also really funny to see you plot out what it recommends…only to then get pissed at the absurdity of what it’s suggesting!

I mean, technically the resulting position is worse for white (pawn left on the edge of the board rather than near the center) than the position that was reached in the game but with the way the evaluation was worded it sounded like you couldn't allow that position at all.
