Hikaru and Rapport are my faves this round. Such a creative and interesting game. Props to Sasha too by playing my fave opening for black, surviving such a difficult position while low in time is insane.

Ding was cheated off an opportunity, I support this from Hikaru the king of juicers and now also sportsmanship

I like these Nimzo Indian lines where you first look at your white-squared bishop and think its boxed in by its own pawns, and then you play the game and its the black light-squared bishop that looks stupid on its long diagonal and can't do anything, because your pawns control the center and the whole board.

It is possible though that if anyone pulls out, they award the place to the highest rated player which would be Ding after Carlsen and Firouzja. Though I think they is an additional rule that you must have played in 2 out of 3 candidate-choosing tournaments: World Cup/ Swiss/ Fide GP.

That would be a very nice gesture by Hikaru. Nor sure he'll be in a position to do that however.
