    The pure passion, Soul and Spirit of the South. He poured his life, living and grief into his writing and music. One of a kind beyond measure, the likes of which we’ll never see again. Kids today have no clue at all what genuine musical talent is or how it’s really generated.
    You are sorely missed Gregg, yet you have rejoined your brother Duane’s embrace to play the great gig in the sky.
    RIP Midnight Rider

      "Music is my life's blood. I love music, I love to play good music, and I love to play music for people who appreciate it. And when it's all said and done, I'll go to my grave and my brother will greet me, saying, "Nice work, little brother-you did all right." I must have said this a million times, but if I died today, I have had me a blast." - Gregg Allman

    • @larrypower8659
      @larrypower8659 3 года назад +4

      I don’t think most people realized how good Dangerous Dan Toler was. The ABB never really gave him the room or the
      freedom to exercise his considerable talent. Because of Dickey’s seniority and strong personality, he became de facto
      leader of the band once Duane died. Gregg was never a leader-type person so Dickey kind of took over, filling the role.
      I think because of that, Dan Toler didn’t get his due with The Brothers. But as a member of Gregg’s band both live and
      on record, he shined. I knew and played with Dan Toler a few times and consider myself fortunate to have known him,
      if only as an acquaintance. He was a sweetheart of a person and a great player, gone too soon from cancer. He was
      beloved among the musicians down South, especially in his home state of Florida. RIP, Dangerous Dan Toler. You are
      missed but we have your music to always remember you by.

    When I was 11 years old, I was in my brother's room listening to the Archie's "Sugar Sugar " and my brother walked in with a new album. Back in those days, record stores would play the album for you if you liked . Anyway, being 11 in "69, you loved that kind of music and the Beatles of course. My brother told me told me 'get that crap off the radio, I wanna play you something ' That something was Trouble No More and I never looked back.

      @@bobbyosborne2375 Really? So what do you think would constitute "PURE HELL" for Gregg in 1981? Did his brother die, or his bass player? Was the pure hell being on the Arista Label? Was pure hell the ABB becoming more commercial than the purists wanted? Perhaps Pure Hell was Gregg singing "Straight From the Heart" on that TV show? No wait, maybe Gregg's father was killed in 1981, but wait, that happened when he was a baby. So pure hell was maybe the ABB fixing to break up again? Was pure hell Gregg looking super handsome and singing like a God, or was it just being young with his whole life ahead of him with lots of money in the bank? Or maybe Pure Hell was Gregg having to cope with his "Demons", his expensive addictions to cocaine or alcohol or only being able to screw dozens of women he didn't know as compared to hundreds. Yeah, Gregg probably went through a decreased period of getting free blow jobs for a little while. GOD, the PURE HELL this man must have gone through. The Groupies didn't know where to find him and had to throw themselves at bands like Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. Poor, poor Gregg Allman.

      As i was watching this and could see that Gregg was so very wasted I'm wondering how was he able to sing this song. But he had alot of practice singing under the influence...I hate he spent too much time getting high,as it took away from his personal and professional life and created a mess he eventually came to grips with. I think he's got to be the best blue-eyed country soul singer ever. I still miss him like he just left yesterday. God Bless you Gregg and I hope your spending time with all your southern Brothers up there. And you n Duane are rocking out upstairs.🤘❤❤❤❤

    Went to his grave site on the one year anniversary of his death. People were playing his songs next to his grave.Also visited the Big House Museum for ABB, bought me an Eat a Peach t-shirt and patch for my blue jean jacket. It was a sad day but was nice to be where it all began. Finished the night @ Grant's Lounge where Greg and many of the Southern Rock bands got their start in Downtown Macon.Go there to renew your ABB spirits and enjoy the music and museum.
