      If she truly thought it was a cult, she wouldn't have recommended her viewers check it out. It can be addictive, though, but it can also be great fun if you don't stress about it.

      A perfect type 4 response to colour, to talk “cult” language 😂 though I must say I think cults are much more problematic than Dressing Your Truth ever could be. Keep wearing your black, white and red and spark it up a bit for your secondary 1. I so enjoyed your video. I am 4/1 myself, by the way.

    I've been thinking about joining DYT but my common sense insists that the notion that there are only 4 main types of people and that this should determine their best colors and styles is a bit silly. I think basic color analysis based on skin tone, hair/eyes makes a lot more sense. Body shape & proportions also seem far more relevant than personality traits when determining what styles of clothes to wear. Color analysis and body shape should be the primary factors, although I acknowledge that personality does influence style choices. I am trying to stay open-minded about DYT, yet I identify with all 4 archetypes in one way or another. Thanks for sharing your experience with DYT.

    • @tequilaanddonuts

      It’s all pop-psych, but you know how things just click with your own experiences? That’s what DYT was for me. It helped me clarify what I wanted to project and helped me understand a bit about others.

    You don't say WHY you think DYT is a cult. Is it because followers are following a person instead of God? Is it because the numerology and angles aspect puts it in the realm of spiritism in the purest application of things to avoid for those strictly following the Bible to avoid things like these? I like the profiling and have benefited from this, but I don't follow as a devotee because of the angles and numerology aspects being contrary to my understanding of the scriptures, but DYT isn't like Jim Jones or Scientology. I've not witnessed Carol trying to lead the masses as if she's some modern Messiah.

  • @1010divajap
    @1010divajap 2 года назад +2

    Something only becomes a cult when you "follow" it with too much faith. This system is good but misses the mark in a lot of ways only because there are plenty of other things to consider, and no one is all one way

    • @minagelina
      @minagelina 2 года назад +1

      Right? I fit all of the types in one way or other. I'm a type one with a subset of 2,3, and 4 😂

    • @1010divajap
      @1010divajap 2 года назад +3

      Yes. She is a very good businesswoman. Let's remember that. She can only make money if people actually buy things. There are other systems like the David Kibbe, and then there's the essence types, the color theories. On and on. All fun and interesting. But it's knowin your own self and knowing what you want to bring out that matters most. Let's not make ourselves poor while we make others rich. At least that's how I think.

    What a helpful video! I just started googling DTY today after hearing about it from other RUclipsrs and definitely felt a cult vibe, especially seeing some videos about numerology and parenting stuff. Your video helped me get clear on that and will allow me to take what's helpful without going overboard. Thanks!

    Definitely a cult like group for sure. I was just in the Lifestyle facebook group. Not worth sharing all the details of my experience but I do not appreciate their approach with their facebook groups and YES, if you don't 100% smoke what they are smoking and drink the koolaid, your posts are deleted and you are painted as "not accepting your truth". Staff has been pushy, and only supportive in pushing their own agenda on me. Not supportive in hearing my own concerns or feedback whatsoever. My entire experience began when I was happily in (apparently) the "wrong" group for my type. I had been in that group for at least 4 years. Staff emailed me out of the blue and told me I had to leave the T2 group within 2 weeks or I would be removed. (A group I paid to be able to join BTW).

    This is a grotesque bit of clickbait! Look up the definition of cults. DYT isn't it. You grab everyone with the title and then fail to provide even one instance of it being a "cult." Cults require you to isolate from your family, and hide their requirements behind ever greater and hard-to-discover levels of cost. Branding and merchandising aren't a cult, much less when so much of DYT is free and totally accessible. Shame on you.

    • @Jenekks
      @Jenekks 2 месяца назад

      It was very culty to me, maybe not the type of cult you define it as, but definitely some brainwashing going on. I just left a lengthy post above, about my experience in it.
      Basically it is "listen to me and pay me and I'll give you a better life" but "trust yourself" but "no you mistyped yourself, this is your true type" and "live your true self (I'll tell you how)" - messages from her. You feel a sense of belonging in her group and your family is wondering why you refuse to wear certain things. Her own daughter even said when she wore the color black, it made her bones hurt. I was in it for 5 years and looking back it did feel like I was in a cult. Her ideas are pushed on others and she claimed to get the ideas from God when in fact her ideas were all plagiarized.

    As far as where to look --
    Find the camera - then focus on that... or not.
    There are different theories on how to focus when you are doing a video -- you can either look at the camera, or not.
    But it may be best to hold your eyes in one position where it looks like you are focused when delivering your message!
