As an FYI in case it helps anyone. I am a womens size 6.5 sneaker and I am a size 6 mens in sure grips. My foot fit in the mens 5 but my big toe did not just brush it felt compressed! If you are half size , if possible I highly recommend trying them on. I did get an insole to help and I am good to go honestly no issues at all! I LOVE MY FAME's so darn comfortable. I tried on Reidel orbit, Moxi beach bunny, VNLA A la mode and VNLA Luna (different than the euro Luna brand). All these skates had pro's and cons. I will say though I felt fame was a good middle ground in terms of ankle support/padding/ankle stiffness and foot base width. They are very comfy and my breakin time was non-existent! I did also really like the VNLALuna boots -gorg!! but VNLA Luna's ran wide...and my foot was sliding ...so couldn't do it. I don't feel my foot is super narrow, I'd say average so those Luna VNLA must run wide. The Sure Grip boardwalks are great if you do NOT like padding in the neck boot and want more ankle flex than the Fame's. Just sharing in case this helps anyone.....
I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate this video. I have sure grip fames in a size 7 (I’m a size 8) and I LOVE them but they are too big 😭 I have just been sucking it up but I’ve got the moonlight emeralds on the way & I went down to a 6. This just validated that I made the right choice. I was so stressed it would be too small or wouldn’t be enough of an upgrade. Hope I can re home my fames to another beginner who loves them as much as I do. Ty again for this video! Definitely subscribing 💜
Thank you for this! I’m starting to develop a bunion from my impalas on one foot and I kept seeing that moxis were narrow but now that I’ve seen this review I will be buying some moon boots :D this was super helpful!
@@TipStitched yes! I got the holo moon boots and they’re WAYYYY comfier than the impalas HUGE difference! You’ve inspired me to make my own review! Lol
Thank you for this! I’m thinking about buying some skates and this thorough overview of everything involved (different wheels, different skates, safety gear) is super helperful!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video and share with us. I am also the type to obsessively research things before I buy and really get into whatever I'm doing, so I appreciate it. I am really looking forward to a Moon Boot restock soon to get me a pair. I literally just ordered some Lunas so fingers crossed those work for me but I love bright colours and I'm definitely looking forward to supporting black-female business owners with good products!
Thank you, really great- informative review, and it was hard to find reviews of suregrip products. I got the boardwalks and love them, but didn’t kno much about this company. Thank you for this! Didn’t know where the moon boots originated either, so great info ☺️
Thank you lovely! You have FABULOUS info!!! I sew too and I am getting back into skating too! I can’t wait to see more of your skating videos. Hugs from NC!
I was looking at the Fames today because someone recommended them to me. I already have the MLR's in Sapphire on order. They'll be here in a few weeks (I hope!) I think I'll be keeping my order. I can't wait!! Thank you for this review! Very informative! 🙌🏼
If you get sure grip fames and you are under say 125lbs I highly recommend switching to softer cushions! My feet were killing me for 2 weeks before It was suggested I do this! It was a huge difference.I ended up using the yellow 78a but they also make 85a and 72a. The ones stock w/ the skate are 88a , just fyi!! you can also switch to barrel and cone for more agility vs. just barrels.
Nice review! I keep an eye out for cool skates for wider feet. I have 5 pairs of skates, Candi Girls, which are pretty but torture devices for my feet- Moxi Panthers, which are better but still hurt my right side baby toe. I have 2 pairs of Chayas, and they're AMAZING, feel like sneakers out of the box. They're wider and super padded. I have the Melrose Elite and the Vintage Sunset Beach. I also have a pair of Jackson Vista Vipers and they're super comfortable too, haven't hurt at all anywhere. Wider and super nicely padded. (Not to say that your sister is wrong, just that the Chayas and the Jackson's have always been so comfy and never hurt me, while my Moxis and Candi Girls do actually hurt me to the point I can't use them. I do want a comfortable black pair, so thanks for the info on the Sure Grips!! X♡
Excellent review, Tiffany, thank you! 🙏🏽 I bought a pair of “gently used” Mirror Balls, and I love them. I just received my Fames, and you’re right, I have to go down 2 sizes (I wear a 7 in Moxi’s). Funny thing is, I sold my pairs of Lollies, and have enjoyed trying other skate brands. I love a supportive and comfy boot for courts, the rink and trail skating. You mentioned your leashes, are they on your Etsy shop? I’m ready to buy! 🥰
I would love to have the awesome cover! By the way you are the best at explaining this..I just bought my first Sure Grip skates, haven’t skated in years but I am sure it will come to me again 🤣🤣🤣 Subscribing yo your channel you are awesome 👏
Great information. I'd love to get a pair of the Night Fevers but you make a good point about the suede stretching so I don't know if I would need a 9 or 8.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with both the skates. You really broke everything down!! Any update on the sizing, did the size 8 work for you or are you keeping the size 9? I also followed the sizing chart and I just received mine in the mail, tried them on and I am just concerned as I am experiencing the skates are a bit tight by the toe. Not sure if that is just a breaking period? This is my first pair of skates, so I have nothing to compare it to.
as a general rule, your longest toe should barely touch (but not be crammed up against) the front of your boot. If you have suede ones they should stretch a little.
Idk. Maybe, not sure what to do if you're foot varies by a whole size. Like I said in the video I'd go 1.5 to 2 sizes down. I wear a solid 10 and the 9 was too big.
Hi Tiffany, i've been a rink skater since i was a kid, and now i'm (much) older and would love to get into skating outdoors. I'm in GA too, and was wondering where to go? Are you in Metro Atlanta by any chance? What parks, basketball courts are ppl skating in? I have no idea where to go.

darling and what about the toe room in the front...I got the narrow part but do you like snug on your toes as well ? Get a 6. The moonboot is much wider in the toe box than a lolly. Just account for the length. With your lollys try a different lacing style to give yourself some more roo.
