this is what Tarantino was like when he worked at the movie store.
Bob Sloppy good joke. You’re probably not wrong. He’s a huge cinephile
@@StudioMod that's a big accusaion there..
I've heard stories about when he was a video clerk and they mirror this sketch to a T
Tarantino would never recommend fucking Meatballs 3.
@@jacktrppr1 No one said he would
Chris Farley's in it for like 4 seconds and is brilliant.
CHilla415 Chris Farley was brilliant in about everything he was in though😊 rip.... 😢
I almost died when Farley walked in, the greatest
Indeed.
And steals the show.
@@morpheus6749 I missed it! When did Chris come in?
“Excuse me I-“ “Back Corner” God the 90’s SNL was so good
Brilliant 513 ... Thanks.
4:41 by the way
This skit is a treasure. Sure miss old video stores.
This past summer, I checked out the last Blockbuster in existence, in Oregon. I was with a group including a lot of teens and they gasped when they walked in. they thought it was great. There's something to be said for actually being able to see the product right in front of you rather than just selecting from a screen. Plus, there was also junk food, which didn't hurt matters either!
Video stores were the shit, miss them so much.
At least we have FYE
Was just thinking that, too.
lking1540 that’s when horror covers were scarier than the movies....
Man, it used to be fun to browse movies at a rental place.
Exactly, you really got to know the classics.
When I lived in Japan a few years ago, there was a DVD rental place. Still as exciting as the old video rental places. Oh Blockbuster, how I miss you.
@@briankelly1817 plus the Hollywood Video chains...
@Joe Martin 2 years ago?
Everything was more fun back then
Awww LOL if you look closely even Jeff Goldblum laughed at Chris Farley when he walked away 😂 miss him so much.. Rest in peace big guy
"MOM IS HE A PERVERT?" Hilarious
Lol the lady that played the mom was in Adam Sandler movie little Nicky. He so loyal
Jeff Goldblum strikes me as the kind of guy who would always rewind before returning.
I love Rob Schneider’s judgmental glances.
Steven Tyler-"Excuse me, do you work here?"
Jeff Goldblum-"Back corner."
😂😂
i got all their credit card numbers. i dont do anything with em.
Can I interest you in a rewind machine? On sale 19.99, Gabe Kaplan got two. Nice guy, rents faces of death , kinda weird
Cognitive Chaos I know, right?!
@Cognitive Chaos 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Jamie Nicholls 🤣🤣🤣
@Cognitive Chaos 😂😂😂😂
The star power in this sketch
If Jeff Goldbulm rented Jurassic Park
YES!!
@Jamie Nicholls 🤣🤣🤣
That was the year it came out in theatres. Probably hadn’t been released to video yet.
@@assmane999 But what if he rented “Jurassic Pork”??
“Jurassic Tubesteak”
Marvel: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover in history
90's SNL: HA HA HA HA HA
"...good running time, 94 minutes, not too long, not too short."
Yep, he's a movie nut, alright.
I miss the 90s. Such a great time in my life.
The bob saget joke was a lot funnier back in 1993.
Jason Todd now it just makes too much sense.
Still funny
Jason Todd what’s the joke!!
Me thinks they were sprinkling in some insider truths.
Henry Robles Oh the reference! Half Baked. Good movie. Great flying animations. 97 minute running time. Can't go wrong with it!
I never noticed how tall Jeff is
yeah, he's 6'4.
Nathalie Aleman ah i gotcha
Well compared to David Spade. Hes tall.
lindsey krontz very true xD
6'4" yep
Spade always knows his lines. I never see him read cue cards.
I know you might be an English Major, but your statement should have been written as such:
Spade always "knew" his lines, and that you never "saw" Spade use cue cards.
@@clmt_1904. lol. Okay, that was really funny. I know, I've always been a dumb ass with grammar. It was only a few years ago that I used to say: "He should of", instead of "should have." But I've never said "irregardless." That's just stupid.
In my defense, Spade still works. Naa, that's not it. I'm a dumb ass.
Jeff Goldblum was my first celebrity crush and in watching him again, damn, I remember why! lol
It is unholy, his presence here 😍
Jeff to Karl: Must go faster.....Must go faster.
😂😂😂😂😂
Chris Farley's cameo was more special.
Sup it's not a cameo when he was a regular cast member.
Can't even recognize David Spade, man he looked so cute when he was young xP
He look's younger now than back then.
Evafamia Langstodir hes still sexy af..aged like fine wine. Id drink that wine any day...funny and sexy what more could a woman want
That’s funny because I don’t recognize him now that he’s old.
Yaaasss
@@alessandraleigh9919 hey babe im funny and sexy (i think).
why is Batman under comedy and Full Metal Jacket is under mystery
evancortez2 ummmmm no
Why on earth did you take the time to notice that? Move along.
@evancortez2 Four words: Jack Nicholson and Vietnam.
Guys. It's a fucking prop. Not a real video store. Weird motherfuckers
Ian Good lol
Jeff Goldblum is so tall and looks like an NBA player next to some these shorter legendary SNL guys haha.
He's tall so he can fight dinosaurs.
He's 6'4" so he's going to make most people look short.
steven was in here for 3 seconds but it was freaking awesome
The bob saget line was perfect
It's funny how Netflix has replaced the video stores considering the sketch has David Spade working in a video store and now everytime I put on Netflix there's a new movie with him in it 🤣🤣🤣
Michael Psihogios what’s netflix?
Blockbuster could have BOUGHT Netflix at one point, but they did not believe streaming would ever overtake renting videos from a store.
A rewind machine on sale. Wow.
Gabe Kaplan bought two...
mercster he also rents “faces of death”, kinda weird.
Had one back in the day. Big selling point was they use to say you don’t wanna wear out your VCR’s reminder. Lol
Northern Lights
But its true! Then again I had one rewinder that broke tapes after it was done rewinding. It rewound them so good NOBODY ever would have to rewind it again!
I have never even heard of a rewind machine. We just used to rewind our vhs tapes in the player : p
This is a literal time capsule.
“George Carlin doesn’t rewind, but god help him he’s a busy man” best line
When Farley walked in, I felt like he was still alive. And then I remembered 😔
SNL in the 1990s was comedy awesomeness!
Jeff Goldblum, Spade, late, great Chris Farley is golden!
Renting videos at the video rentals was always a fun, weekly experience!
Totally miss the 1980s and the 1990s!
It just occurred to me that there are people who have NEVER been to a video store, when that was a weekly activity that has completely disappeared from our lives. Whoa.
I'd spend 2 hours looking for a 90 minute movie to watch.
I miss working at a video store. One time Sean Lennon came in.
Got his autograph on the back of a receipt.
Not gonna do anything with it.
That make you feel good?
Hahaha
I have no clue who that is
@@Area-5l Sean Lennon??? You don't know who Sean Lennon is?! That's John Lennon and Yoko Ono's son! 😂
U really can't do much with that....Julian? Maybe lol
Rip bob saget 😭 he’s on the wall behind spade
My favorite era of SNL...and what a treat to see a Chris Farley cameo at the end I had no idea that was coming
A+ for the "Faces of Death" reference.
Spade is literally just a Letterboxd teen in this sketch
"Be kind, Rewind." haha, back when you'd hear your parents complain, "Gosh, I wish people had the decency to rewind.."
"I'd like to, for once, stick a tape in, and have it already rewound."
Did you ever rewind with a pencil?? Like, when a bad VCR would start to eat the tape?? I remember those days!
Yup, it was highly inconsiderate to not rewind before returning the tape. VHS tapes look so much cooler as collectibles as opposed to boring, sterile DVD cases.
JG seems like an honestly kind person
Even though he’s a pervert!
Chris Farley only needed a couple of seconds to make me laugh
What a well written skit. That’s why the 90s will never be matched!
Schneider must be short for Spade to tower over him.
Yeah he’s 5’3 and David is 5’7
I think "tower over" is a bit hyperbolic, when they're standing close Spade seems marginally taller, now if you're talking about Goldblum and Spade, that's a genuine case of "towering" over somebody.
“I got all their credit card numbers. I don’t do anything with them.”
Gabe Kaplan rents Faces of Death HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
The best part of this sketch is the picture of Shirley Hemphill.
Omg Steven Tyler? How do they got these ppl? That's awesome! ❤️😂
Spade, Farley, and Schneider. Perfect. Just.....perfect. David is great in this role. And Farleys one line is just priceless, theres no explanation for why its so funny. Hes just so good.
David Spade will always be one of my favorites
0:03 Shirley from "What's Happening" on the wall hey HEY hey!
This takes me back to the good old.days of blockbuster lol
One look at Steven and he knew 😂 love Jeff and Steven
R.I.P. video stores. Also snl in its prime!
RIP Bob Saget and Chris Farley
hahahah Steven Tyler wearing an NA shirt.
“Excuse me, I..... Thanks.”
-Chris Farley
Jeff Goldblum is a phenomenal actor. For him to hold back & not babble on & on must be an amazing skill.
The beginning of the scene reminded me too much of Benchwarmers 😭😭 my heart ❤️
1986-93 was the best SNL period; top comics, writing, didn't need to crack up every other minute to goose the material for the audience. Just the best.
Danm. Didn’t know David spade was such a babe when he was younger
Ikr. I had no fucking clue.
@@chemicalE-p3n He's peggable 😈
Rob Schnieder in the background 😅🤣😂 just looking dissaprovingly at Jeff. Ah rewinding the VCR after the film had finished.
I walked inside a Hollywood video that was closing down, they were selling off everything posters shelving computers videos, they had both HD DVD Blu-ray. It was bizarre, it was like watching the ending of an era. Parents would bring you in, only word of mouth, and the back of the case to judge whether it was worth 90 minutes of your families time together. Some were winners some were losers. But for 90 minutes every other Saturday, family would sit around and watch the tube television load up a VHS tape of some movie which you had no idea what it was going to be about. What a wonderful time.
Still have a vhs rewinder and it saves wear and tear on your vcr so you can watch all those classic movies in high quality stereo sound with color!
Haha
i remember seeing my english teacher come out of the adult section...it was pretty awkward
I remember seeing mine walk into it.
Rewind machine. . . Damn does that in particular take me back to my high school job at a video store.
Farley and Tyler bringing it home! 🤣
"George Carlin doesn't rewind"
😆 🤣 😆 🤣 😆 I'm rolling!
I love when Farley walks in, “back corner”
Chris Farley: Excuse me uh.....
Spade: Back corner
😂😂😂
This was hilarious 😂 I was lucky enough to experience vhs, dvd, blu ray and now 4k. Boy, what a life.
Tarantula Fangs I mean my family used VHS into the 2000s and we stopped using them 2004-2005ish, but we still have all of them.
Super 8, Beta....
Don Corleone my oldest sister still has a few vhs in her entertainment center and I dont even know why 😂
james wagesi what the heck is that? 😯
Same here.
Could you imagine running into Jeff Goldblum at a Blockbuster renting "On Golden Blonde"?
I just used my DVD rewind machine. Love it! Works every time.
That's an odd timing for that Bob Saget line lol.
Bob Saget approved that joke. He probably wrote it.
Video stores were quite the treat back in the 80's and 90's.
i miss these years. reminds me of a fire and spaghetti at grandpa and grandmas at their house on the lake, we would all be there it seemed....everything happened there...snl was what we watched. man this is nostalgia for me
Goldblum, Farley, and Fucking Steven Tyler! So much Talent holy shit
I loved Ellen Cleghorn. I remember she was in the audience of this talk show skit and she gets up and says "if that was my child I'd pull them out of school so fast their head would spin" which had nothing to do with the show and the host of the fake talk show (I forget who) says, "ma'am, what the heck are you talking about" made me laugh so hard just the way she said it.
Explains the era before the internet
Yeah and at some point we stopped renting VHS and started renting DVDs at video stores. I also rented dvds from Netflix. They came in the mail. Blockbuster rented dvds through the mail also.
Are you serious? What was before the internet? How did people watch RUclips?
@@poe12 They had to do the credits with a chisel and write all the descriptions on the wall in their homes. Then there was a fire pit where everyone would act out everything that happened on a RUclips video with shadow puppets while everyone circled around. Yes, the 80s and the 90s were very challenging times indeed!!
Sometimes, on a 28 or 56k modem we would have to wait all day for a 5 minute video to load!!
But the most bizarre and mysterious part of all: When people got landlines/cell-phones, they actually used the PHONES to TALK to people!!! Who’da thought??!!
The idea of Gabe Kaplan renting Faces of Death is hilarious
Oh man “Faces of Death” lol Liked that reference
I used to own a video store and the answer to most questions from new customers was "Back corner" lol
My friend had a rewind machine. I thought they were the “rich” family in my neighborhood.... looking back, they weren’t rich at all, just had a few extras here and there that my family didn’t have, lol.
Yep lol
If you didn't know: In the olden times, people used to walk to a store to rent physical copies of movies. Also, they were on tape, and thus had to be rewound when used (therefore the "Be Kind Rewind" t-shirt). They also had to walk back and deliver the physical copy back after a set amount of time.
Good times.
You mean you couldn’t hire a very rude and juvenile Uber or Postmates driver to take the video back to the store?? And you’d actually have to walk/exercise?! What a rip-off!!
Don’t forget the late fees...
Old SNL sketches cheer me up.
Dang i remember rewind machines. Had one. Wow crazy how vhs has been almost completely phased out
@bert smith those rewind machines allow you to rewind the tapes without putting stress on your actual VHS recorder from all the rewinding you have to do on them
I sure do miss the 90s lot of cool shows on TV now everything is stupid reality shows
@@kevino1489 Yes, I know what those rewinders do/did. I’m 40 years old and not from a third-world country lol
Gabe Kaplan bought two rewind machines? Karl must have been a good salesman 😂 😂
“I got all there credit card numbers. I don’t do anything with ‘em.” 🤣😂🤣
Love that there’s a pic of Shirley Hemphill aka “Shirley Wilson” from the tv show, “What's Happening!!”!!! xoxo The Clarences
those were the times ! Spade is GREAT-and Goldblum plays along nicely.
Chris Farley = 4 seconds...Steven Tyler (aka a REALLY old looking aunt)for 2 seconds - AWESOME! I love them both, don't get me wrong - Jeff Goldblum and David Spade too. Classic!!
Ah yes, Steven Tyler, the cool older aunt of rock and roll, lol.
I worked for a large bank as a stock brokerage margin dept analyst. We had Bob Dylan's account. I always used to joke about how I "knew Bob Dylan's SSN" but was never going to do anything about it...😂
These were the days, man. Rewind machines. Ha. I had one. I also had an entire cabinet full of Laser Discs
I didn't get the Bob Saget joke back then, I was too young. I remember almost fainting when hearing him say what he said in "Half Baked", I still didn't know about his real comedy until I was past 20.
One of the best jobs I ever had was working at a video store.
Good thing Kaplan bought 2 rewind machines. Saved a lot of wear and tear on his vcr....
The pre-internet era had to be tough times for porn enthusiasts.
Tougher still for famous porn enthusiasts.
Rob Lowe must have had a horrible time!!! Rotfl!!
Rob Lowe: “Pppllleeeaassseeee forgive meeeeee!!! There’s a sex tape where I’m having sex with a grown woman!!! Goooooddd fffoorrrggiiivveeee mmeee!!”
Rob Lowe: “And I just farted right now!! HOW can I LIVE with myself??!!”
Just ask Paul Rubin
I love the 90s.
OMG
I JUST REALIZED THAT THAT WAS FREAKING KUZCO!!!!
Yep. The actors in this skit do voices in Kuzco.
