  • Stock motor of WPL C34KM is very good, but extremely slow. I changed the motor to a Chihai GM-25 12 V 2000 rpm motor, what makes the car much faster. This needs some modifications of the gearbox - see the video.
    Further mod- and upgrade videos will come, watch out!
    You will find a list of (nearly) all parts and upgrades for WPL, JJRC, MN and similar trucks here:

    Good video. Been able to use the 2 speed successfully but can see the advantages to the single speed with it's higher ground clearance, probably the best crawler setup I can imagine. Have been able to use 380/390 brushed motors in them and that's really the business if you're trying to haul heavy and go down the trail at a decent speed.

    Great review 👍 I think I will stick to the stock motor. It’s good to have more speed but hate to see things breaking apart. I’m also trying to find an alternative for stock shocks.
    No matter how long the video is I love watching your reviews and upgrade videos.

    Great video. Thanks for the tips! I have installed the same gm-25 motor as you and I’m running it on a 20 amp esc. I find it doesn’t have enough torque and my motor also runs very hot. Does your motor run hot and how much torque are you getting from your gm-25? Cheers

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  5 лет назад +2

      I would check the drive train in your C34, if there is not enogh torque.
      Did you change the gearbox compartments as I did? You have to check the shaft. You need (!!!) to switch out compartment 1 and 3 between GM-25 and C34 motor.
      The motors run "hot", but not very hot (my 180 in my MN-90 was running very hot).
      I never tried one of the small ESCs with the GM25, but I think the ESC should not be a problem.
      Of course the cheap motor also could be faulty, nobody knows. I run 3 GM25 actually (and have two more here for further cars) and all of them are good.
      My tip: Gearbox

    Hi Donald. I'm learning TONS with your videos lately. Starting to build some of these WPL machines lately. I have a question for you, if you please. What is the brown piece that you have between the motor leads in the original engine? My kit doesn't include it. I wonder its purpose. Thanks for the great content you upload!! VG

      That's an interference suppression capacitor. Probably not necessary.

    Thanks for another helpful video. I ordered the same motor replacement and have tried swapping the gearbox over which was no problem, but on the GM25 with the correct gearbox I noticed it spins alright but then binds up. The only difference I just noticed (after hours of trying to work out why it won't go) is that the pinion sits further out on the GM25 by about 0.5-1mm. The pinion is on the end of the motor output shaft, but the stock motor has the pinion pressed 2mm or so down. Maybe it's catching the upper gear in the bottom compartment?
    Transferring the same setup back to the stock motor it all turns freely.
    For now sadly, the GM25 is going to sit in the bag.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  5 лет назад +1

      Well, sorry to hear. I did not have those problems. But pressing in pinion for 0.5 or 1 mm should not be a problem - and even sanding the original motor shaft. Do not know why your setup did not work and mine does… did you use compartment 1 (the metal compartment, that is mounted to the motor with screws) of the C34 motor gearbox?

    • @HRDNTS
      @HRDNTS 5 лет назад

      @@donaldsneffeThanks for the day reply. I tried pressing the pinion in but it seems really really stuck in its position. I couldn't get it to move and didn't want to risk damaging the motor. As it was the bell end wanted to come away from the can on one point.
      I used compartment 1 and even tried swapping them over again thinking maybe I did it incorrectly, but no luck. Both compartment 1 casings looked identical to me. Also both had an X cast into them. Only difference seemed to be the gears inside.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  5 лет назад +1

      @@HRDNTS In my comp 1 the mounting holes for the gears were different, as far as I can remember. Otherwise I would not have swappet them out.
      The gear sits on the motor shaft, and the motor shaft is going to the end of the motor. So you cannot really damage anything when hammering/pressing onto the pinion.
      The gear is probably fixed with loctite (red or green), but many gears are only pressed in small motors (had a lot of micro-helis years ago).
      So you can try to use heat (soldering iron) to break the loctite. But I would not try, I would try to press the gear farther into the shaft by putting the motor on the backside and using a "ring" (i.g. a very small hexnut driver, which can "take" the motor shaft, but not the pinion, or any tube of proper strength and diameter), place it on the pinion and use a small hammer and slightly start to hammer. You can use one of those small cheap "watch repair tool hammers", but also a big one. But do not use much force, only slightly hammer many times - the pinion should slip farther onto the shaft.
      Anyway, surprise for me you do have those problems. I can open my second GM-25 and take a look inside again and compare it to the C34 motor... if there is really a difference. Maybe the motors are little different. Which one did you buy? The "WPL 370 gearmotor" (where you have to chose 6 V or 12 V) or the "Chihai GM-25 12V 2000 rpm" motor? I used the Chihai GM-25... the WPL is in a car (guess in my JJRC Q65). Maybe there is a difference in WPL 370 Chihai (GM-25) motor and the Chihai GM-25 12V 2000 rpm motor... in performance I could not find any difference (see my motor-test video).
      Good luck!

      @@donaldsneffe I got the Chihai CHR-GM25-370. 12V. I'll try get the pinion gear to move with a small socket and tapping it gently with a hammer. Fingers crossed that sorts the issue.

  • @Zerker666

    I've installed the motor - the performance is great, but it is extremely loud. I've checked gears for tightness, put grease on them, but still... very noticable.
    Also, should anyone want to buy this in a kit with the metal transmission housing, which is in form similar to the original, not the one that has a long lower part - be aware that the metal parts are very badly made. The housing cannot be closed for one and there is a lot of sanding away to do, where the gear coming from the motor is mounted. I hade to sand away about 2-3mm so that the gear is pushed back, just that the housing can be closed.
    And what I noticed too - negative reviews are deleted from Banggood - I gave the motor + housing combo 2/5 with some arguments why, the review did not get thorugh the censorship. Also gave a 1/5 and 3/5 for other products, those reviews also were not published.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  4 года назад

      Yes, it is true - they mostly do not publish negative reviews. I am also often quite angry because of this; they did not publish reviews of 18650 batteries recently, they did not publish the review of the URUAV winch, etc. etc.
      I am sorry to hear about your problems.
      I do not have those problems.
      Yes, the metal transfer case does not "fit", you'll have to make an extra hole into the frame rail. I showed this in a video (?) - I guess, this review of mine even had been published at Banggood.
      My metal parts work quite fine, ... little bit of shimming... and good. But my parts are already quite old, so from last year, maybe your parts are of a different (bad) batch?
      This is always the problem with those Chinese parts - you will never know what you get.
      But I do have no idea what is the problem with your motor. I bought 4 or 5 of those motors, and all work fine, not a single one of those is loud. Is the noise from the motor or is it from somewhere in the drivetrain?

    • @Zerker666

I do not know what to do

      @@franciscofernandez1831 You can write an email (see channel info), but you do not have to send pictures or videos. If the same problem happens with a different radio, too, it is clearly a problem of the ESC. Many ESCs have slower reverse speed than forward speed (maybe you even cannot change in your ESC). But the solution is easy: Do not change change direction by reversing plugs, but simply reverse throttle on your radio (channel 2 reverse)! You can do this in the P32. Then it should work (and then you can change polarity if necessary). If your ESC is programable, you can maybe change "reverse 50% to 100%" (or whatever settings are possible).

    Hi,
    i just assembled the c34.order 15099
    I have a lot of problems with c34. quality department is doing a terrible job.
    tyres are wobbly terrible, wheels does not fit to a 5 milimetre drive shafts, Once i put them on i have to almost destroy them to take them off. just terrible.
    Steering linkage came updated but assembly instructions are wrong, old. thats just basic mistake.
    Input gear shafts are bent and because of that drive shaft cups are wobbling.
    front axle is not working properly. i managed to brake in the rear one according to instructions but the front is not possible. front input gear does not mash with differential gear at all.
    I don see how can all that be fixed, so i would like to return the product and them to return the money to me...
    5mm hex are not 5 mm. and are bent already.
    is this normal? no wonder wheels dont fit.hex should be 5mm and wheels 5.07mm.they should know that.
