I agree. Like a bonus like every year or something. A special one. You have to hit it within a month of the anniversary to keep it going. And you are given a special tag for doing so. If you miss it you lose it, and it resets.
His voice is different gravy in this period, this clip is great but tiny dancer on the old grey whistle test and border song have sustained his status despite virtually (not quite) being crap for the last 40 years The really great singers lose something as they get older and it’s a similar thing but not vibrant out as tuneful rod is the same - amazing in the same period
This is one of Elton John' greatest songs and it was never a hit. There are so many songs out there that the larger public has never heard. Nancy and Ann picked a fabulous song to cover and they did a masterful job.
Good to see Nancy get some vocal time, she's probably the most underrated vocalist in rock. Sure Ann is the powerhouse but Nancy's just awesome in her own style.
Nancy singing lead vocals and picking that guitar to this classic song - with Ann singing background and harmonies while chewing gum - it just doesn’t get any better than that.
OMG! It is all too easy to forget what an amazing voice Nancy has, until you hear her in songs like these. And the harmonies - oh the harmonies are glorious!
A cover that's out of this world. Something to cherish forever. Now something quite the opposite. You can scroll down to the earliest comments (plenty enough to make anyone sick) OR you can read the latest comments. So depressing to realize there's so little difference.
“ And I thank the lord theres people out there like you . I thank the lord there’s people out there like you “. Gets me every time , don’t know where I’d be without certain people in my life . Amazing song and amazing cover ! My favorite Elton John song hands down
I play a little guitar. What Nancy is doing on this song with a 12 String is phenomenal. I couldn’t even attempt this song. Throw in the fact that she’s singing lead ..... this is “next level”.
Not many people realize what a fine voice Nancy has. Unless you pay close attention to the intricate harmonies these ladies have put together over the decades!
One of Elton John’s gems, not heard that much on the radio. I always thought he sang it perfectly, but this version just blows me away! Can’t believe the amazing vocals and guitar playing by Nancy Wilson! It almost feels like there is a band in the shadows but it looks like it’s all her playing and singing, while Ann Wilson is backing her. Just simply too beautiful! And Nancy looking gorgeous too! Amazingly talented sisters! :)
I've always loved this Elton John song. One of my favorites by him. And now, I hear this cover and love it too! Nancy really delivered the goods here! 💙
You cant expect for anyone to better Elton, he was only a kid when he performed this, and of of course, they werent trying, they are so good, they did a just purely fabulous guitar along with this, I love it so much. I have read comments about how, "they did it better" You dont get it, they are honouring Elton and us all, by showing us a real wonderfull take on this song, Thank You Girls, it is very special, loved it..
Ann is one of the best female singers ever, but, Nancy's voice is unique and wonderful in its own right and she did an excellent job playing and singing EJ's song.
Nancy never disappoints when she gets those vocal opportunities. I want this and many of their other covers in a high quality format. Her control over her entire range is great but for me particularly in the lows.
I wish Nancy would sing more songs . Such untapped potential & painfully underrated. Such a beautiful voice , no autotune here folks this is the real deal.
Nancy Wilson on lead vocals for this Elton masterpiece.....It was a Grand Slam out of the park paying tribute to NYC shortly after 911.....Well done, very well done...
I cry every single time I watch this video and hear Nancy's voice. She inspires me so much, and every time I watch this video, I am reminded why I am a Musician and Singer-Songwriter. Thank you Heart and Nancy, very much!! I love you two very much, and thank you for spreading the love of rock, music, and love. Rock on, and Be Blessed!!
I just cant get enough of this version of a very underrated song!!!" Not just pretty words" but a magical and transformed in such deft, brilliant hands. You go girls!
I liked how Ann looked at her little sis at the end like I’m so proud of you, just magical it’s a toss up on who harmonizes better between these lovely ladies and CSNY !
..and thankfully I was fortunate enough to catch this tour in NYC in July 2002 at the Beacon Theater. I cried like a baby when they did this song for us..... ::shrug::::
Elton John wrote it, but Nancy and Anne just make it their own and take it to a whole new level! The harmonies are amazing! Maybe the best part is that these two ladies are the real thing...they have been giving us amazing music for years and are not some sort of internet-generated one night sensation. These are real ladies and I, for one, can't imagine a better way to spend an evening than sitting around with them, sharing shots, and making music. PS: Nancy...Love your blue guitar!
It does not matter how many times I play this outstanding live performance! I love it even more everytime I listen and watch in amazement! Nancy and Ann are true artists!
that song made my girlfriend cry with tears of real life the way it should have always been sung. Nance what a beautiful song that was made for my girlfriend. She adored it and always will. She's a lot like the both of you. A real jokester and one of the most compassionate person like the two of you.
The way Nancy and Ann harmonize on this song gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME! This is one group that will never get old, and I will never tire of listening to. Seeing them live 3 times was a dream come true. Keep rocking ladies, you will forever be the best!
True musicians to the core, Thank you Nancy and Ann, followed you since your begining in the late 70's. Best wishes to you and your families. Lt. Wm j Bronkala. US Army ret.
Absolutely stunning cover by the Wilson sisters. I believe they sang it in remembrance of those lost in the then recent 9/11 Twin Towers terrorist attacks. "But unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why, they know not if it's dark outside or light" means so much more when you know that.
This is one of the the few bands that sound as good or better live than their recordings... ...not only unbelievably talented...but professionals through and through.
I want to like this again. There should be a button for such occasions.
Incredible one of the best covers of any song I have ever seen!
I agree. Like a bonus like every year or something. A special one. You have to hit it within a month of the anniversary to keep it going. And you are given a special tag for doing so. If you miss it you lose it, and it resets.
Superb work by Nancy, with help from the world's most overqualified backup singer.
Love that!💜✌
Not for an Ann backup singer haha but yeah this voice deserves more attention
Ain't that the truth!😂
His voice is different gravy in this period, this clip is great but tiny dancer on the old grey whistle test and border song have sustained his status despite virtually (not quite) being crap for the last 40 years
The really great singers lose something as they get older and it’s a similar thing but not vibrant out as tuneful rod is the same - amazing in the same period
Ain’t that the truth.
These ladies will never be out done, period!!! A fan from the start!!!
Absolutely wonderful, one of my favourite Elton John songs and easily the best interpretation of it that I have ever heard
I crushed on Nancy Wilson as 14 year old boy in 1976. I am still in love with her today. This song is one of the many, many reasons why.
Falo aqui do Brasil conheço as meninas desde 1987 ! Patrimônio da humanidade!
I know Ann is in a league of her own...but Nancy NAILED THIS!!!
I don’t know why more artist don’t play this song…..it’s a masterpiece…..even EJ doesn’t play it enough…..
Go listen to Judith Durham sing this!
Nice cover.
Truer words were never spoken! I am a decade's long fan of both Heart and Elton John!
This is one of Elton John' greatest songs and it was never a hit. There are so many songs out there that the larger public has never heard. Nancy and Ann picked a fabulous song to cover and they did a masterful job.
They still looking young at 48 and 52
Now 2024 they are beautiful 😍
Rock and roll keeps you young.
The singing here is so very beautiful
Good to see Nancy get some vocal time, she's probably the most underrated vocalist in rock. Sure Ann is the powerhouse but Nancy's just awesome in her own style.
+tteague7 They make a great team, no point is deciding who is "better"...they sound wonderful together, period.
Don't forget she is really easy on the eyes as well.
tteague7 I agree on Nancy's voice. perhaps she is too shy and doesn't mind taking a backseat to Ann
"Easy on the eyes"?
That's like Noah saying "I think it might rain".
@@tmee1512 Yeah, because that's the most important thing.....*sarcasm*.... 🙄
What can i say....Heart is number 1 in my books. I love when the girls have moments like this. ABSOLUTE GREATNESS💝
Perfect harmony. Ann supporting Nancy vocals at the correct level, never overpowering her.
This has got to be one of the best Heart concerts of all time. I wish this was in HD because this night was magical for the duo.
Nancy singing lead vocals and picking that guitar to this classic song - with Ann singing background and harmonies while chewing gum - it just doesn’t get any better than that.
A 12 string no less😉
What a voice Nancy has. The way she sings this too. Elton would be so proud
Elton still could be proud, and probably is. Sir Elton John is still alive, 'ya know...
OMG! It is all too easy to forget what an amazing voice Nancy has, until you hear her in songs like these. And the harmonies - oh the harmonies are glorious!
Awesome!!! I didn't think anyone could do this song better than Elton...but I was wrong.
A cover that's out of this world. Something to cherish forever.
Now something quite the opposite. You can scroll down to the earliest comments (plenty enough to make anyone sick) OR you can read the latest comments. So depressing to realize there's so little difference.
People suck sometimes (a lot of the time, actually)
“ And I thank the lord theres people out there like you . I thank the lord there’s people out there like you “. Gets me every time , don’t know where I’d be without certain people in my life . Amazing song and amazing cover ! My favorite Elton John song hands down
I play a little guitar. What Nancy is doing on this song with a 12 String is phenomenal. I couldn’t even attempt this song. Throw in the fact that she’s singing lead ..... this is “next level”.
Really great 12 string work! She's playing the hell out of those strings! And with perfect vocal intonation!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Nancy is an exceptional guitarist.
If you play 'a little guitar', isn't that really a ukulele?
Her first love is the acoustic guitar.
Not many people realize what a fine voice Nancy has. Unless you pay close attention to the intricate harmonies these ladies have put together over the decades!
What a great performance. Nancy is so low key that she often may not get the recognition she deserves. A true gem of a performance by both ladies.
Saw them perform this live at Humphies years ago….amazing
One of Elton's most haunting beautiful songs performed here with soul passion and respect
They sooo do this song justice. Bernie Taupin, You're awesome!!!!!
I wrote it, not Taupin
Prove it . Prove it post a vidieo of you doing it you wrote it you should be able to perform it
You cant expect for anyone to better Elton, he was only a kid when he performed this, and of of course, they werent trying, they are so good, they did a just purely fabulous guitar along with this, I love it so much.
I have read comments about how, "they did it better"

Difficulty Level 1-10.... ELEVEN!!!
If I had to pick one word to describe...... FLAWLESS!!!
Ann is one of the best female singers ever, but, Nancy's voice is unique and wonderful in its own right and she did an excellent job playing and singing EJ's song.
My song
Still
The best damn duo
I’m music period!
Harmony..good god
Stunning show, I was there amazing unplugged concert
Can’t ever get enough of their harmonies 💞
Especially on Dog and Butterfly. Absolutely angelic.
6:05 Nancy's shy look and Ann's proud face, looking at Nancy. It's like "good job, baby sis."😍😍😍
Such a sweet harmony between these two.
For some reason this song makes tears stream down my face
Right there with you
Kimberlee Sherman me too
I still say Elton’s first five albums are his best work. This is by far his best song.
Me too
Nancy never disappoints when she gets those vocal opportunities. I want this and many of their other covers in a high quality format. Her control over her entire range is great but for me particularly in the lows.
I wish Nancy would sing more songs . Such untapped potential & painfully underrated. Such a beautiful voice , no autotune here folks this is the real deal.
Her voice is so honest it gives the song a very crisp and haunting edge.
Nancy Wilson on lead vocals for this Elton masterpiece.....It was a Grand Slam out of the park paying tribute to NYC shortly after 911.....Well done, very well done...
I don't think I have even heard anyone cover this song before. It was beautiful with the sister's on acoustic. Bravo !!
+Jean Anderson Indigo Girls do a very nice version also.
I'll check it out. Thanks.
I've been an Elton fan since these songs came out in the early 70s, But I have to say this is by far the best version of this song that I ever heard.
Nancy is slinging that 12 string way down south like an electric guitar and she is immaculate.
No song brings tears to my eyes like Nancy and her 12 string guitar does on this song!!
The genius of Elton performed by an equally genius sister duo.
I saw Heart 💕 on Valentine's Day and the whole stadium was full of heart shaped balloons ❤❤❤🎉
Nancy's voice is mesmerizing in this Amazing cover tune. They could not have done it any better!!! ♥
She kills this song..
and this song rings deep with me... So I can care less if you hate it... It is a song that I will take with me forever..
I love Nancy's voice, this is just so perfect! 🤩
Nancy’s amazing vocal range on full display here.
Betting Bernie got a chill hearing this version. This as much as anything Elton ever did, was Taupin's song.
It’s probably Taupin’s lyrical masterpiece. Someone Saved My Life Tonight is incredible too. Probably saved as many lives as CPR.
They took this masterpiece, flipped it on its head, spun it around and shot it off to Jupiter. Then again, it is Ann and Nancy Wilson after all.
I can never get over their beautiful harmonies. This gives me chills every time.
Ladies and Gentleman,
The 1st Sisters of Rock and Roll,
Ann and Nancy Wilson!
Nancy taking the lead here.
One of the best covers of all time.
Gorgeous. Love Nancy's low register. Very faithful to the original.
And I thank the Lord there's people out there like you!❤❤❤
Love this song on twelve string!!!!!v A great song can handle almost any treatment - but twelve string really suits this tune.
I just cant get enough of this version of a very underrated song!!!" Not just pretty words" but a magical and transformed in such deft, brilliant hands. You go girls!
Me too! I'm 76 and a fan for both Elton and Heart. Beautiful and Beautiful. Thanks. Bob.
I liked how Ann looked at her little sis at the end like I’m so proud of you, just magical it’s a toss up on who harmonizes better between these lovely ladies and CSNY !
HARMONY. HEAVEN.
Nancy's got a great voice!
This truly is a gem. Nancy does a wonderful job on lead and 12-string.
Its way up there with their best efforts
brings tears to my eyes every time I watch this. Wilson sisters are the exemplification of awesome!
Right there with on that one. Got a spare hankey??
Greg Kulig god...so very sad they are estranged. And it happened so late in their lives. I hope they can get passed it.
Oh yeah. Waterworks over here. That got me.
I usually don't like covers but I enjoyed listening to this version
..and thankfully I was fortunate enough to catch this tour in NYC in July 2002 at the Beacon Theater.
I cried like a baby when they did this song for us..... ::shrug::::
I had no idea Nancy could sing so well. This is awesome! I've always loved this song.
She was ironically actually the lead singer on their 1st #1 song, These Dreams. 😎
When they harmonize it’s sounds like one person on a double track. Beautiful sisters
Just what I needed after a crappy morning and a cold lunch. Thank you ladies for lifting my heart.
Sometimes THEIR version is enough to help me get though what ever the dice holds .... I hear ya
Absolutely beautiful.
How am I just now seeing this for the first time? Absolutely beautiful!
Same here!
WTF eh!
I can't listen to this with others around... Crying like a baby! This is one of the most beautiful, artistic things I have ever heard!
Being a huge Elton fan, and a huge Heart fan. This just doesn’t get any better. They sound amazing, great cover!
Underrated Elton song superbly performed here.
Best Elton covers. Thanks Heart 💓 sisters.❤️
24 people that don't know if it's dark outside or light........beautifully done ladies
i will never get tired of listening too these two ladies. love them. Elton would be proud.
This is pure fucking magic! And they're still doing it to this very day. Nobody else even comes close being as good Ann and Nancy Wilson.
How about the guy that did this song.?
Oh my. Don't ya just love this? In every way on every level? Delicious.
The Indigo Girls also did it live a couple of years later. I put both versions in my "Elton..covers" playlist. Thanks for the upload!
This is one of the highlights of a magnificent DVD. Great show, great band, great pair of extremely talented sisters.
So Gorgeous ❤
Holy Shit ! That was the best acoustic effort EVER!! ✌❤❤
It does not matter how many times I play this outstanding live performance! I love it even more everytime I listen and watch in amazement! Nancy and Ann are true artists!

Great version of this song. One of the most beautiful songs ever.
RESPECT ELTON JOHN!
The way Nancy and Ann harmonize on this song gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME! This is one group that will never get old, and I will never tire of listening to. Seeing them live 3 times was a dream come true. Keep rocking ladies, you will forever be the best!
Excellent- Nancy has such a pretty voice - nice harmonies
Elton John must be proud to have written a song that was meant to be sung by "The Wilson Sisters". I can't stop listening.
Bernie Taupins lyrics.
My Bad@@tmee1512
@@tmee1512 Collaboration. Taupin wrote the lyrics, Elton the melody. Give credit to them both.
I would love to hear what Elton and Bernie think of this, I believe Bernie wrote a song that Heart recorded but I can't remember which one.
Had the absolute pleasure of seeing them play this live at the Chicago House of Blues in July '99, and it's stuck with me ever since.
Thanks for uploading this video, this is one of my favorite Elton John songs, the Wilson sisters did an Excellent job covering it.
I'm pretty sure Sir Elton is proud of this version. Wishes he could do it as well as the sisters of rock!
One of the most beautiful songs EVER- even by EJs standards. Excellent cover!
True musicians to the core, Thank you Nancy and Ann, followed you since your begining in the late 70's. Best wishes to you and your families. Lt. Wm j Bronkala. US Army ret.
Such a beautiful song. And of course the Wilson Sisters are ALWAYS great! Thanks.
This performance is just stunning. Nancy sings it flawlessly! I've loved it from the first time I saw it!
This is one of the the few bands that sound as good or better live than their recordings...
...not only unbelievably talented...but professionals through and through.
