Bernie wrote some great words but this is my favorite. Even better it’s being performed by my favorite band with the most overqualified backup singer ever.
In the early 1980s I was a slave to addiction and homeless for 3 and 1/2 straight years on the streets of New York City this amazing song has a profound effect on me. This performance is amazing in resonates and wakes up every cell in my body and brain
Congratulations on your life. I lost four friends to lifelong alcoholism in one year a few years ago. If you drink hard liquor your whole life you die in your sleep before you’re sixty years old.
This was a joy to watch and listen to. One of my favorite Elton tunes performed by my favorite First Ladies of rock and roll. Doesn’t get much better. It’s always nice to hear Nancy sing lead too.
I thought Elton's version sounded impossibly beautiful, then I heard this one. Hearing two voices carry this melody is magic. Nancy's voice is as lovely as her face.
I am just reading Bernie Taupins autobiography and he’s describes how he hated NYC at first but grew to love it. It is an awesome book and shows his gift for words. Well worth a read!
(Joan here). Well that was a lovely rendition. I very much appreciate Nancy Wilson's voice as she has impressive singing talent in addition to her guitar talents. And the two of them together have always entranced with their harmonies. Having said that I remain steadfastly a fan of Ann Wilson's unique voice and powerful vocals. It is her voice that makes me think Heart.
One of my favorite Bernie Taupin songs performed by one of the most under rated talents in music, Heart. Thank you for sharing, this made my afternoon so much better.
The Wilson Sisters are so remarkable. I had no idea this hidden gem version of Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters was out here in the ether. "Honky Chateau" was one of my favorite Elton albums. Gorgeous rendition of a gorgeous song. Thank you.
Blood harmony alone is a phenomenal thing, but blood harmony with voices like THAT is a thing beyond description. I can only imagine what it's like to stand in front of these two and hear them perform unmiked. I'm sure anyone who ever has has never, ever forgotten the mind-blowing privilege. Two of the best rock performers EVER. 💙
That was so good I wish you would do an entire album of Elton covers...your arrangements, harmony, everything was emotionally as coercive as it was breathtaking. I never knew the word "coercive" could even have a positive meaning until now...the Heart has redefined the very meaning...
What a performance. Vocal turns inspired by Elton, but in her own pure style. People usually completely imitate a performance of the original track, or they move so far away that the song is almost recognizable. It takes brilliance to honor the original, and still make the song yours. Amazing.
This is from the 2002 Summer of Love tour, AKA "Alive in Seattle" DVD/CDs. I was quite fortunate to catch when they passed through NYC on this tour in '02.. Our city was still in mourning, shock and a plethora of other things as this wasn't even a year after 09/11.. This song would've brought up 'the feels' on its own but Nancy's gentle demeanor when dedicating this song from her, Ann & the band, brought it to another level.. I personally will always be grateful for this dedication being part of the entire tour rather than just a tune played when in NYC.. And yes, I still get the lump in my throat.. TY for that much needed 'tune' A&N.. 🕊
I met both sisters at the Heart Concert for their Dreamboat Annie Tour in DeKalb in "76?" at NIU! Great Concert and they both played great and looked even better backstage!
The world shall never truly appreciate the brilliance and talent of these two women! How many artists could execute this cover so flawlessly? So beautifully? Or their cover of Stairway to Heaven at the R.R.H. of Fame? From rockers like Barracuda to Kick It Out to the complex building melodies of Magic Man And Crazy On You to the subtle haunting emotion of Dog And Butterfly. Decade after decade they reinvent themselves. Their pure unadulterated sense of muse and melody is just astonishing!
Nancy Wilson is lucky in so many ways. She’s gorgeous, she’s an extremely talented guitar player and songwriter. And she also gets to have Ann Wilson sing harmony for her. Ann strumming and singing barefoot in jeans is also gorgeous.
Nancy doesn't live in the shadow of Ann. They're both great, beautiful and smart.. they each excel in what they do best!!! Thanks to artist like the Wilson sisters we can have the best of both!!! Whether you're strumming/picking strings or belting out vocals only most of us can only dream of, because they're who they are we can be there too!!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!! Can’t beat the harmonies of the Wilson Sisters!! :)
Their Harmonies is what I missed the most these past years.
Agreed!!
Hey, what about Nancy’s sweet 12-string guitar?!
This is absolutely incredible. Wow. The best version of this song ever sung by someone other than Elton.
Agree 100%, this complete set at Alive in Seattle is brilliant. They are at the top of their game on every song!
Amazing.
Maybe the greatest live vocal performance I have ever seen or heard. ❤
I loved it, but let us not get carried away!LOL
Their rendition of Stairway to heaven is equally as great. It's wonderful to see the Wilson sisters continue their legacy
Bernie wrote some great words but this is my favorite. Even better it’s being performed by my favorite band with the most overqualified backup singer ever.
Nancy could be the most underrated singer ever
A “backup singer” that covered “Stairway to Heaven” and made Robert Plant cry.
Stumbled upon this and thank god I did.
Love hearing Nancy sing. Such a great voice that too often lives in the shadow of Ann.
they are both amazing.
Saw ❤ many times Nancy has always been underrated. Beautiful 🎉
One of the most beautiful things ever.
As both a huge Elton John fan and Heart fan, I don’t know how I missed hearing this until now. Just absolutely incredible.
right? Better late...love to hear Nancy sing lead. What freaking natural and extraordinary talent these sisters have!
Ditto. It's just perfect.
Same!
I know. I’m thinking the same thing. Where has this been?
Same💜
Sir Elton would be so Proud!!!!! I Thank the Lord for this Rendition!!! Standing Ovation!!!!
Ann, the greatest voice in my era of rock and roll, added SO much to this song by what she didn't sing, let Nancy shine. Wonderful!
In the early 1980s I was a slave to addiction and homeless for 3 and 1/2 straight years on the streets of New York City this amazing song has a profound effect on me. This performance is amazing in resonates and wakes up every cell in my body and brain
Warms my heart to hear this! Be well!
Glad you’re sober and hopefully enjoying your life.
@@JerroldBaron glad I could make the relation.
Congratulations on your life. I lost four friends to lifelong alcoholism in one year a few years ago. If you drink hard liquor your whole life you die in your sleep before you’re sixty years old.
WOW Such A Fantastic Song For Nancy And Annie To Celebrate Together Awesome 👍😎👌
This was a joy to watch and listen to. One of my favorite Elton tunes performed by my favorite First Ladies of rock and roll. Doesn’t get much better. It’s always nice to hear Nancy sing lead too.
Love this song, love what they've done with it.
I thought Elton's version sounded impossibly beautiful, then I heard this one. Hearing two voices carry this melody is magic. Nancy's voice is as lovely as her face.
This is the best I’ve ever heard Nancy sing lead on a song! I’ve been following the band since 1976. Bravo, excellent job girls.
I am just reading Bernie Taupins autobiography and he’s describes how he hated NYC at first but grew to love it. It is an awesome book and shows his gift for words. Well worth a read!
I can listen to this song everyday. Thank you Wilson sisters.
I really don't think I've ever heard anything so amazing and beautiful in my whole life! totally amazing!!
Wow! Chills. Just decided to listen because I like the song and wanted to see how they would sound singing it.... wow... Awesome!
Ditto! My reason for being here too! Incredible cover
Always been one of my favorite EJ songs; now I love it even more having listened to Nancy take the mic and show off HER pipes. She does it very well!
How great the sisters voices sound. What a gift.
I love Nancy's voice. Their harmony is beautiful.
I thank the Lord there's people out there like you!!❤❤❤
I cried. Wonderful.
I was 14 in 1980 and was blessed to see Heart in April and Elton in October...
It was a great year.
The sky's the limit with those gals . Such talent, magnified .
What an awesome rendition of a timeless classic. Kudos to Heart
Great version of a timeless classic. Nancy sure can play that guitar.
Holy smokes. That brought tears to my eye. So beautiful.
"I thank the Lord for people I have found"....
Holy merging of two worlds and role reversals! That is a real treat
One of my favorite Bernie Taupin songs performed by one of the most under rated talents in music, Heart. Thank you for sharing, this made my afternoon so much better.
Never were underrated.
I have to say the lyrics are stupendous. Thank you, Bernie Taupin. And I this rendition is a great one.
Best Elton John cover EVER! Love you guys!!!
The Wilson Sisters are so remarkable. I had no idea this hidden gem version of Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters was out here in the ether. "Honky Chateau" was one of my favorite Elton albums. Gorgeous rendition of a gorgeous song. Thank you.
What a beautiful duet Thanks for this song Sir Elton
It’s so easy to forget what a Beautiful voice she has. ❤️
And less we forget what an incredible guitar player she is 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
Is it..huh ..
I thank the Lord for Ann and Nancy . Beautiful!
My goodness!! Incredible talent that still might not be fully recognized. The whole world needs to see this!
The harmony - sigh - such perfection❤❤❤❤❤
Nice job ladies! A great rendition of one of my favorite Elton John songs.
Excellent version, I have not watched this before.
Wonderful...
The VERY BEST COVER! LOVED THAT VOICE OF NANCY. ❤👍
Wow, never saw this and I stumbled on it. So Awesome, Heart can sing anything any genre. Love this cover.
Wow…. Respect. Love Elton but this is a great version. Saw these ladies live a few years ago. Talent!
Absolutely gorgeous cover of one of my favorite Elton John songs. Just blown away
Can't believe there's only 1.4k likes...what!!! This is mega million like music.

A beautiful version of this lovely song.
Amazing song, amazing singers.
The very sound of perfection. It don't get no better than this folks. This is masterful.
I have been in love with Nancy, since I was 15, 48 years ago. Nancy, I’m still waiting.

Somehow I missed this, and this is 22 yrs ago?
@@NickNicometi Yep 22 years ago for this actual tour. The "Alive in Seattle" CD/DVD that this video is from, was released after, in '03.
Love the Wilson's version of my favorite early EJ song. ❤
Thank you ladies(again)!
I met both sisters at the Heart Concert for their Dreamboat Annie Tour in DeKalb in "76?" at NIU! Great Concert and they both played great and looked even better backstage!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL ❤
Wow...beautiful!
I’m today years old finding this
65 lol❤
Same here. Thankful I did!
Fantastic job with classic early Elton John❤❤
Did you just think they did Stairway to Heaven?
Last song, I’d say Nancy’s well warmed up on that 12-string Ovation. Wowzer. And Ann’s choices of accompaniment are brilliant.
A not so easy song to pull off with guitars - Excellent beyond words!
Beautiful ❤
Nice Work Nancy! You are a Great Guitarist! WooF!!🐶🐶
Beautiful rendition
This video is friggin mesmerizing.
Wow, wow, wow. What a great rendition of a classic Elton John/ Bernie Taupin song.
And this is why I have loved Heart from day 1!
WOWZA ….. absolutely BRAVO ♥️♥️♥️.
These two sets of videos I had not seen. Thanks for posting. Couple of songs, like this one, I hadn't heard. Very nice!!
This rendition is incredible. Watch the Indigo Girls version of this song as well. Unbelievable.
