- This was crazy good fun. Hopefully with the full release we'll be able to have more seats or more carriers, as we did have a few people basically just role playing as ratings.

As I get older this is rapidly becoming my favorite genre of game: Crew Simulator, where a group of people take on roles and coordinate to command a vessel. Everything from the old mobile app SpaceTeam to Star Trek Bridge Crew to Ironwolf VR, I love this sort of gameplay.
Well well well Do you know anything about Barotrauma the game
@@seventheundead12vods38 a good one as well.
If you haven't please check out Pulsar lost colony, it's the best of the genre IMO!
Have you tried BattleGroup VR yet?
As long as everyone has enough to do so they aren't taskless for an extended period of time, it's great.
Oh and I LOVE SpaceTeam
This carrier feels less like something meant for actual military operations, and more like something mercenaries would use as part of an elaborate insurance fraud scam: "oh yeah, whole carrier got lost in action, had dozens of screens and everything, so...we're gonna need a check."
The general tone and art style of the game seems to be more “cartoonish” in general, but I still like it. Very stylish
Reminds me of homeworld deserts of kharak but like you're directly controlling things in first person rather then doing RTS
@@lulzalfest RIGHT?!
Erik Prince WISHES he could buy a carrier this cool
@@lulzalfest definitely. And now that I think about it, it’s weird that someone hasn’t made a naval game with a similar carrier mechanic. Would be cool as heck

What is this heresy about the Commissar being a Cadet trooper? hmmm? does the Inquisition need to look into this? :)

I too would kill myself if I had to play. A math game while listening to that
This is a joke but they actually experimented with something very similar in ww2. Then they found that towing a pipe with a bunch of holes drilled into it behind the ship was cheaper, just as effective and sometimes even reusable
Sudoku? xD You mean seppuku? xDDDDD
Did you see their most recent Warhammer Arma video? Now that was an amazing use of Cadian Blood

Last time I was this early Sailing a Carrier in battlefield was still a thing.
That's sad to read. Ah, the good ol' days when Battlefield wasn't trash.
Ho ho ho.

When I saw the start, I was contemplating two options of how this would happen:
A) This would go absolutely amazing and be badass and hilarious.
B) This would go so horrible that I would watch it, and start laughing while shooting Nazis on Sniper Elite.
I think it’s a bit of both, but more towards A. Nice work!

Hopefully it turns out better than the first remake.
I always wanted a game like this.
But in 40k.
Imagines the broadsides, assaults and fliers as you try to pilot a floating church.
Duuuuuuuuuude...
Honestly I'd prefer a Star Trek one and play as either a Klingon ship or a Jem Hadar ship. And I am not even the biggest Star Trek nerd, I just love those two races so damn much.
While that sounds theoretically awesome the scale of Warhammer naval combat scuppers the ability to do this idea any real justice. At minimum Imperial ships are 2 kilometres long with some sources placing them as long as 20. The crew depending on the sources can range from thousands to hundreds of millions, with entire civilizations forming within deck groupings. Decks can range from ten to hundreds depending on the source writing it. It's an awesome idea but the scale just doesn't work for this kind of game.
Probably be mod for that once this is released.
@@ryanconnelly2405 ah true. That's the main reason why i don't want a 40k total war game.

As a navy vet from a carrier, I appreciate the pseudo roleplay going on here. Lemme know if you want a bit of help making it more immersive!
Enlisted or officer?
Ah yes, the _HMAS What Could Go Wrong,_ Australia's only aircraft carrier
You mean the HMAS Drongo
Remember, our last proper carrier, the _Melbourne_ , ran over multiple ships in its career.
The rooftop Korean joke was the deepest cut I’ve heard in awhile. I appreciate it more than you know.
Holy crap, I had no idea this series was coming back. Even with all its problems I loved the first game
Same. I mean, first one wasn't horrible, it just... wasn't that good either. Especially FPS sections.
@@Mandemon1990 though I will say I’m gonna miss Gaea Mission’s art/graphic style but it’s obvious this game is going back to the roots of the OG Carrier command look so I can live with it
To be honest, I had no idea _MicroProse_ still existed, let alone that they were remaking Carrier Command.
@@erikweltz8187 I spent waaay too much time on Gaea Mission back in the day. Absolutely loved that game.
@@Mandemon1990 well that was a sequel. The original is OLD.
Me and my friends had a lot of good fun playing the demo of this game, I've learned how to utilize the flying drones (the Albatros) less for direct gun runs and more for american certified drone strike program, just launching IR missiles and calling artillery strikes from the safety of a 1500m altitude. That was until hostile boats started showing up and the drone program quickly got shot down.
Those boats are gonna pay.
It's always fun to feel like you're running things with a friend. It's why I think a game like this about running a speakeasy would be a killer game - a few people to run the bar, and some people to do watch
I know its not of course but I genuinely enjoy the mental image of Rimmy using a cruise missile on an actual seal.
No kill, like overkill
Showed this video to my dad who did what remy did for about 4 years, he loved it. Thought it was so cool, it was fun to see him happy with it. 2:32 He kept talking about all of the things and how accurate they were

I played the original cc on my amiga 500 back in the day. As a single player you had to control the carrier, its weapons, 4 aircraft and 4 hovercraft. It was impossible chaos trying to beat the ai.

I know only two people, who would play such a game. So i understand your problem.
It's more than playable enough with 2

Mate get Carrier Command: Gaea Mission. It's basically this but has a fully fleshed out single player campaign, it's awesome!
Theirs an easy way around that; join an Arma group, as, if they play arma, they're probably also into this type of stuff.
I would say that "Kestrel" would be an appropriate name but nothing can live up to that name.
After watching the video completely, I basically take back that comment.

I already want a total star wars conversion mod, Crewing a star destroyer sending out TIE squadrons and Tie bombers to 'liberate' rebel bases for the Empire!
Truly the crew of the Enterprise right here
Wait, you put scarmu in charge of R&D? How well's that going?
I assume explosions will be involved smehow. I approve.
Every crew should have a designated Roof Korean.
The only reason the carrier sunk, was because the designated Roof Korean didn't go to the roof with his SKS.
8:22 Rimmy never ceases to amaze. I think it’s a reference to the liberation of New Caprica, and the loss of Pegasus.
Rimmy, I would love to see you and a whole bunch of people give Infinity: Battlescape a go, with large, supported fleet actions in space and in atmosphere. I also want to see you ram a carrier into a moon
Finally, a proper sequel to Carrier Command on modern systems. Bohemia's crack at it was predictably janky
would love, seeing a real carrier crew playing this game as a group :-)
I remember playing the original from 1988 on DosBox, it's nice to see someone finally do a sequel.
This is one of the reasons I got Carrier Command 2, sadly they don’t have open multiplayer and it’s hard commanding a carrier by yourself but you feel like a king. Something I hope they add is a bigger carrier upgrade. I would love to be able to form up a long range bomber group and lay waste to an island in the matter of minutes.
Last time I was this early, Backseat squadron was all still alive
4:30
Those are some thick raindrops to be blowing at such an almost parallel angle to the ground. Some super strong winds right there.
I've been waiting for this video since this game was announced and I'm not disappointed!
I love that if you look at the vehicle bay screen at the start of the game soon after they deploy you can see that there's already a missing helicopter
Now you know what I want to see? A 200 player game with each team having 100 players split up across multiple ships. You have to coordinate not only with your crew but also your allied ships
So this is what every carrier crew has to deal with in world of warships.
Oh I can already tell this is not going to end well and I haven't even started the video yet
Cant believe they made ss13 3d, and didnt leave it abandoned
Ahh SS13. Plenty of Plump and OneFJef videos on that game to send me to Nam flashbacks
Next up;
"Working on the USS Nimitz during WW3 with over 100 people"
Lol, I was actually station on the Nimitz with a skeleton crew of (slightly less than) 3,000 sailors.
On a side note: there is no way the Nimitz CVN could handle speeds above 40 kts. The Island (bridge) would violently shake at speeds over 30 kts. :D
This should be it’s own kinda arma 3, that’s wicked cool
This has been on my list for so long, im so glad that we are finally getting into summer for the release
This reminds me of 'Pulsar: Lost colony' or whatever it was called
Me reading too much of Marko Kloos' Frontlines: "Vampire Vampire, one missile inbound, brace for impact. I repeat-"
Them: let's use a cruise missile on those SEALS
Me: that's taking seal clubbing to the extreme, those poor little creatures 😢
Me a minute later: *OH!!*
I DEFINITELY wanna see more content like this.
Stuff like this is rare in games, actual cooperation, not just "cooperation" of people are on the same side and they generally go off and do what they want like in arma lol.
Note: *I am exaggerating but still lol*
The joy of the holotable aircombat realization is what I live for. Part of why I game.
this will be soooo cool in VR, Also when you have a torpedo incoming evasive maneuvers is always a good idea, sitting still is the worst thing you can do, that was fun to watch though
It's really great to see microprose back in action and to see a sequel to A Classic simulation/wargame game in its own right as well,
Really brings me back to the classic microprose/SSI days man.
Actually technically speaking there is a kind of sequel for carrier command, if I remember correctly I still have it too.
8:21 "Okay guys, Battlestar Galactica time"
Oh... I didn't know that I wanted a Battlestar Galactica multi-crew simulator *so badly* until right now.
agreed. just imagine the ship shaking and bits exploding startrek style when you get hit with nukes... it would be great.
@@quantum5661 I think it is definitely possible, but I don't think it will be possible to even begin development for at least 5 more years, just because of the amount of vastly different things interacting through *netcode* would make most computers and even engines "not feel good." I mean, Planetside 2 has pulled off things amazingly well for large scale, but it doesn't have entirely separate environments that interact with each other through another environment. Pulsar: Lost Colony had kind of/decently succeeded in making things occuring on each ship run smoothly. So has Angels Fall First. Both Star Citizen and even Star Made have it all within the same environment, but have issues because of that (a good starting point would be to NOT build it around a physics engine or simulator, like Space Engineers is).
And feature creep would be a *major* concern. "Hey, let's add these roles. Let's add a *full* interior. Let's add away missions. Let's add planets. Let's add personnel/infantry combat. Let's add boarding actions. Let's make up a whole bunch of stuff that requires actual technical knowledge of mostly fictional systems and equipment for damage control and technicians to deal with, so the roles are interesting and make skill and knowledge valuable. Let's add a limited but significantly deep medical system. Let's add first war stuff: everything/Deadlock sequel-spinoff-thingy. Let's add in war campaigns and operations, with limited supplies that slowly run out as you travel between locations, unless you FTL. Let's add strike/launch craft piloting and combat (beyond giving orders)."
Then again... maybe it's possible now...
Space Station 13 is a thing with a lot of existing systems, and has finally had some success in getting off of Byond. It's not the same as being in first person view, but a highly modified version of Unity Station, in the vein of spin-off servers like FTL13 and Colonial Marines 13...
Space station 13 has been built into what it is today over *many* years...
"Captain the mountain blocks our bullets."
"DRILL THROUGH THE MOUNTAIN!"
This absolutely looks awesome and promising. A few addition I would make is screenshake upon impacts and blastmarks. Maybe add creaking metal noises. That missile hitting the deck feels so null. Another thing they could add is red alerts upon impacts. The control room just go red lights and alarm goes blaring. Overall this looks really cool and I hope you do more videos for this.
cant believe i missed the beta signup. I've never been sadder, outside of the post nut clarity felt after preordering cyberpunk
This game would be GODLY in VR
6:27
Hold up
Rimmy, did you just say you are LEGALLY allowed to CAPTAIN A SHIP
Man doing a gameplay of Carrier Command 2 with a 16-man crew is just awesome
I will always love games where players are actually in command of other players, and it's all "organized".
Definitely gotta get this game for myself whenever I can.
Came back to this video because I was in the mood for some crew simulator games and I just realised that War at 1:18 sounds exactly like a voice line from a random crew member of one of the “main character ships” in Halo and I can’t remember which but he sounds exactly like that
i watched another channel grim reapers play this but seeing a fully staffed crew of 16 vs like 4 to 6 people is quite the change
the biggest issue i had with the demo is the fact that you can't both manual control the drones, air especially, so trying to both dodge enemy attacks, while trying to line up shots of whatever you have is kinda difficult, since you have to fly, but then switch off to another weapon and have the AI take over flying, and then have to try and quickly fire your gun before the AI moves you out of the firing zone
I Love how easy this ruclips.net/user/postUgkxvAj3godqGAIP5rApM1laH767JGtPG1-h carrier is to adjust from my friend to me taking turns holding the baby! It provides great support on my back too! This has definitely made shopping easier! I always get asked where I get it too!
This is exactly what borrowing your dad's aircraft carrier and taking her for a spin with your friends would be like.
Bro, this is what I imagine Microprose's upcoming B-17 game will feel a bit like. I can't wait to hop into a 17 in VR and listen to the chatter of .50 cals and people screaming "Bandits at 12 o'clock high!" into their mics.
I like that Micro Prose reference at around 3:15
Also this game looks AMAZING...IF I had some friends to play it with! For now, I'll stick to BattleGroup VR - whenever VR stops hurting my hands!
It’s published by MicroProse
With people trained by arma so they know what to do and how to behave in team, this makes it absolutly glorius.
The holomap reminds me of the Ace Combat mission briefings
I love it how the game is just controlling things and not actually being in combat, apart from when you get hit, yet it's still looks fun as hell.
Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more gameplay.
I like to think that he refused to move out of the torpedo's path just so that the DC guy would have something to do at 9:30
This ... VIDEO... this, this is a ffffaaaacckkkkiiiinnnn masterpiece
Please do more of these, this game looks fun and highly entertaining to watch!
He was saying he didnt feel the impact of the torpedo. Well when your in a 100,000 ton carrier with over a food of steel armor you might not feel too much at the very top of the ship. And plus it takes several 1000 pound torpedo's to do enough damage to sink an aircraft carrier(talking about US navy carriers)
Please do more of this. This is awesome
Who is the supervisor of the bunkbeds?
