NOOO THESE COMPILATIONS OF COMPLETE SERIES ARE PERFECT (I just mean that having like the infinite world playthrough complete series is one of my favorite videos of pure doto for several hours like this!)
@41:27 Fun Fact: Cell's voice "reverts" to his imperfect form voice when taunting and getting hurt because in the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z, Cell's voice is always the same no matter what form he is in. In most of the earlier games where Cell is voiced, it's just a limitation because the developers did not re-record new lines for his pain and taunt lines because in the Japanese version there would be no difference.
Headcanon: Cell’s voice is naturally always in his First Form Cell. But he pretends to have a Perfect voice in order to build up his “Perfection” complex
This game, flaws and all, was just the greatest thing for me at the time of its launch. The small details like the expression changes of the character pictures on the health bar after in fight transformations to the big things like the in depth story mode and that timeless GOAT soundtrack, it was all so gd good! Seeing people play it nowadays is just weird lol cause if you didn't play it before, of course it doesn't really hold up. But back then? It was perfection. At least to me.
Yeah this game still has mileage even if having to basically do an interpretive dance to pop off a special move was sorta goofy. The visuals are still amazingly ambitious, and though they probably didn't have the time to include more playable elements of the story and characters (i.e. Trunks not having his sword usable for Mecha Frieza in the campaign) or if at the time it was probably one of if not the only good mainstream Dragon Ball games at the time, making it possible for Legacy of Goku to be the powerhouse it was despite being on handheld, and the continuation of Budōôai to Xenoverse, Infinite World, FighterZ, and Budôkai 4 now as a reward for us buying into this so long ago. 2 decades plus 1 in my case. One of the major misses of this game was not having maybe more minigame sequences like steering Raditz into the SBC. It could have had you charge and throw the spirit bomb maybe fight Great Ape Vegeta, charge and beam struggle the Father-Son Kamehameha against Cell, etc. But at its core, still a great base for an amazing line of fighting games for all systems, warts and all.
my first dragonball game i think was budokai 2 and to this date i still remember the infinite ki with fusions being some of the most fun gameplay ive ever experienced.
Bro i was 6 years old and can honestly say it changed my life forever. I played this game Before I started watching dbz on toonami and at the time I thought it was a new show not even knowing dbz had Been over for 10 years lol. I'm 28 now and still play dbz and love everything about it. It's crazy because without this game I sole heartedly can say I wouldn't have fell in love with the series as a whole and anime in general. It seems everything was peak in that Era from games like gta smackdown vs raw dbz Def jam etc to shows like dbz yu yu Hakusho, the whole cartoon network and nickelodeon line up, to MTV bet wwe . Shit it may Be just nostalgia But that was a hell of a great childhood in my honest and humble opinion!
The first Budokai isn't a great fighting game. Compare it to other PS2 fighting games even from its time and there's a lot of competition that easily blows it out of the water. But for us Dragon Ball fans (at least in North America), it was the best we had at the time. Then we started ones that were actually good (Budokai 3, Shin Budokai, Super DBZ) and now we have FighterZ holding its own with the big boys of the genre. While the original Budokai is pretty basic compared to later games, those feats probably wouldn't be possible without it.
My favorite part of this series is how Doto always acts like he has zero idea what’s gonna happen by stating “no shot…” followed by exactly what’s gonna happen.
Idk if you know the reason why the Kamehameha was originally yellow in Budokai, but it's due to the fact that the original color of the Kamehameha was yellow in the first officially colored version of the manga.
Not... technically true? The first colored Kamehamehas were white in the **colored sections** of the original manga. That was changed to yellow in the **full colour** version of the OG manga which was released later.
This game got me firmly into DBZ. I saw an ad for the game in the Shōnen Jump that featured Goku just winning the battle on Namek and escaping using Frieza's ship. I was so sold. And the cutscenes in this game are just so damn solid. Dev time went more to the combat in 2 and going forward, but this was basically Abridged before Abridged, as far as how faithfully the animation plays like the show, with the bonus of being interactive so I could play these fights out personally.
insanely good. practically no other dbz game did the cut-scenes so well. also you can unlock "super trunks 2" which is the form beyond what super vegeta uses, but before ssj2
I vividly remember crying because at a point I couldn’t hold raditz in place, I deadass had to ask my uncle to help me and he did. I love this game for memories like this, I was like 6 or 7
DotoDoya: The guy who can react to a DBFZ attack that I don't even register, but can't dodge/interrupt a 3-second charging attack that always has the same audio/visual warning
Those cutscenes are so cool, you got 20 year old stuff like this, and then today we have screenshots of the anime as a story mode in Storm connections...
Funny how you say this but the same developer of that game made DragonBall Kakarot which arguably has the best cutscenes out of any DragonBall game lol
Exactly this. To not knowing either of them even existed to Doto and Deion easily being two of my favourite content creators in about 6 months or so. Dino annoys me, but if deion and doto are in the video, I'll watch it still. Videos with JUST deion and doto are perfect every time.
@@markky3050 oddly enough when i first started watching them i didnt like rhymestyle at all and now i cant imagine many better groups than these 3 idiots
Just in case you play Budokai 2, charge is X(hold) back back(hold), transform is R1+R2. Charged moves can't be blocked, but cpu's usually read you and grab. Budokai 2 added beam clashes and shortcuts for supers so you don't have to do the full combo to shoot a Kamehameha. Love the videos bro!
I was surprised the continuous Kamehameha or continuous turtle destruction wave is actual supposed to be multiple beams, but it sounds like it would be long lasting kamehameha.
I absolutely love this game. It was the very first dragon ball Z game I ever played. It does go a bit fast through the cut scenes and story. Though but pretty well detailed over all I think. Thank you for playing it
Man watching you play this game brought back some memories, this was my very first dragon ball game and I loved playing the tournament mode and story for hours. Actually made me nostalgic.
That was the one part about this game I never understood the whole not keeping transformations thing losing Sayian form Frieza losing his transformation mid fight. Glad that got fixed in later games. Very fun video as always
Your transformations are tied to how much ki you have in battle. If your ki goes below what it takes to actually use that transformation and you get knocked down it will detransform you. If you have enough ki though you'll stay in that form.
Slight plot inconsistencies, but I'm liking the game tbh. Vegeta shouldn't have had the scouter after killing Nappa, he crushes it in Nappa's face. Also, Vegeta couldn't sense Gohan's power level. He learned about sensing power between his whoopin and Namek.
Notice that Doto NEVER sidestep, like, at all. Sidestepping is actually useful if you want to dodge melee attacks, especially the charged attack. You can also use it to possibly dodge some or most ki blast attacks such as Kamehameha or Galick Gun. The button for it is simple: double-tap down to dodge right, up to dodge left. And don't worry: there's no jumping nor crouching in this game.
Doto's inability to land specials is so funny to me. He can do complex combos in fighterz, that uses quarter and half rotations of the joystick. But he can't do a simple forward punch/kick, or push energy button.
Found your channel looking for sparking Zero vids. Now I'm here. This is hilarious. And I nice way to revisit a classic game. This game is why I bought the new one!
I remember getting the original Dragonball Budokai on my PS2 as a kid for Christmas. It was my first PS2 game and I love Dragonball and this game is awesome. The story cutscenes are awesome and the alternate unique story twists were cool too. I still consider it to be one of my favorite Dragonball games aside from Dragonball FighterZ.

To this day this game is more graphically accurate than all the games that came after until Kakarot i think. Only game where it shows Raditz and Goku impaled by the special beam cannon and also Piccolo missing an arm in the cutscene
I know this is just the game variant of a truly emotional show, but my favorite piece of Dragonball music anywhere is in this game in the form of Goku's Farewell. Sends shivers down my spine and makes me tear up a little bit when he's talking about staying dead since he'd be better off protecting Earth from his challengers that way. Great, great music and cutscenes, this game walked so every other DBZ fighter in the post-3D age could run.
I remember playing this game in boarding school in 2003. The single player isnt very long but there was 8 kids in my house and we played this shit out of the pvp in this along with the OG Tony Hawk, Mario Kart 64, and Perfect Dark. What a time to be a kid!

i played this game before i had actually watched all of Z (i was like 4 or 5 at the time) so the different songs and especially Goku’s SSJ transformation stuck in my head like the real DBZ moments alongside the actual anime lmao. classic
I just recently went through the original budokai series and the one thing that i always remember are the bad translations of the death moves or as we know as super attacks now a days early ps2 dbz games was the best will forever be in my heart
I think the Vegeta What If is supposed to have different lines, it's been years since I played it but I played it with Japanese voices and the subtitles explaining the Nappa situation were completely different which I didn't expect the subtitles to change based on which dub you set the voices too so I was very confused at first. I think the original implication was supposed to be that Goku accidentally killed Nappa when he broke his back for this What If, and Yajirobe's reasoning for not joining changes slightly to "no way, I'll just end up like that Saiyan" and Vegeta yells that his name was Nappa reminiscent of Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation.
TRIANGLE + R2 = TRANSFORM HOLD X + Double back > (whichever is pointing away from the opponent) and HOLD = CHARGE KI R2 = GRAB ( only when a grab attack is equipped ) R2 = CHARGED STRIKE ( when no grab skill is equipped ) R1 = CHARGED STRIKE ( can be altered by combining with the arrow keys ) Press Square instead of X when selecting your character to get their alternate costume. I'm pretty sure that's all correct. Can't believe I still remember all of this, but I DID learn it on a PS2 back in the day. Hope this helps! It was fun watching you play! Edit: Bro the 1v3 fight in the What if Vegeta Stage had me dying Edit: Short characters are OP. If they hadn't made "Teen Gohan" medium height, he would have broke the game. Edit: Watching you try to unlock the Tournament Difficulties was literally painful. Edit: Dynamite Kick is definitely broken. Wolf Fang Fist is another good one. Basically any Melee Skill. Edit: Imperfect Cell's Kicking Combos are relentless, another good Tournament Skill, it's not even a skill, it's just a long ass combo of kicks that ends with a Launcher = RingOuts
This game is my love my forever favorite dragon ball z game of all time. This game besides the show. Made me fall in love my child hood in one game. I been playing DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 4 and I still grind and fly around in DBZ kakarot. Now kakarot was a dream game for me that was so bad ass I still run threw that game every year cents it came out new game every time. I have seen the show now play it. Dragon ball fan for life

Nahhhh my goat posting FILLER I love it
Doto I love ur videos man I wish I could play any game with u that would complete my life bro
Nostalgic vibes! One of my favorite game cube games!
This game was wayyyy ahead of its time. The cut scenes. Voiceovers. Gameplay. It was great during that time.
TRIANGLE + R2 = TRANSFORM
HOLD X + Double back > (whichever is pointing away from the opponent) and HOLD = CHARGE KI
R2 = GRAB ( only when a grab attack is equipped )
R2 = CHARGED STRIKE ( when no grab skill is equipped )
R1 = CHARGED STRIKE ( can be altered by combining with the arrow keys )
Press Square instead of X when selecting your character to get their alternate costume.
I'm pretty sure that's all correct.
Can't believe I still remember all of this, but I DID learn it on a PS2 back in the day.
Hope this helps! It was fun watching you play!
Edit: Bro the 1v3 fight in the What if Vegeta Stage had me dying
Edit: Short characters are OP.
Edit: Imperfect Cell's Kicking Combos are relentless, another good Tournament Skill, it's not even a skill,
it's just a long ass combo of kicks that ends with a Launcher = RingOuts
This game and Budokai 3 were some of the only games I 100%ed when I was younger :') Good memories
welcome back to the greatest of the three idiots! Love you bro, you always cheer me up! Hope you had a good trip bro!
I gotta say, Raditz is my favorite DBZ skill.
Oh yes, the ultimate skill 'Raditz'.
glad u played this one doto. took me back to the ps2 days
I love your " here comes a giant fist" spongebob reference lol
Might play this on the GameCube again, still wanna 100% it with every breakthrough
It's amazing how Doto's laugh is literally HAHAHAHA
Yo, I love running with Yamcha. Wolf fang fist actually goes super hard on the Budokai games. Absolutely love this game.
mannnnnn, i feel like no DBZ ggame since has matched how good this game's cutscenes were
This game was so great literally played it all the time as a kid. You should definitely play budakai 2
Man, watching this really puts into perspective how ass Sparking Zero's campaign is 😅 I miss this Era of DBZ games.
As a child who owned this game, I genuinely thought that the series ended with Goku just staying dead forever after Cell was defeated.
Man I used to struggle with this game as a kid 😭🤣 I’d get so angry I would just cry in frustration Lol
The fact that They sculpted the grotesque hole through Raditz and Goku, complete with ribs that got cleaved through, is, goddamn masterful
