I've come to the conclusion that our custom characters in Xenoverse originated from this game retconning the race part.
@@KingJackGamesYTYea I always loved this game’s custom character story even with the canon problems aside I will always believe If It wasn’t for Ultimate Tenkaichi and Dragon Ball Online we definitely wouldn’t have gotten Xenoverse as a series.
One thing I love on this game is how the hair actually reacts when your CaC go super sayan. It is something I wished the xenoverse games would have done too.

Xenoverse 2 has a better set up for Super Saiyan though; two of the most powerful Saiyans beating your ass, spitting in your face, egging you on until your character just breaks the barrier and becomes a Super Saiyan. Honestly wish a lot of the transformations introduced through updates were like base game's.

I'll never forget when, a couple years back, I remembered wanting to rebuy Ultimate Tenkaichi because I couldn't find my original copy. So I went to GameStop and the moment I told the guys behind the counter I wanted to get it, they both looked me dead in my eyes and said: "Are you 100% sure you want to buy this?? Rock-Paper-Scissors: The Game??? I could recommend some games if you need help finding something-" and that's when I stopped him, smiled and said "Yes. Yes I do." Honestly was probably one of the only sales those guys have ever made that they wish they could've prevented.

Only to play it, realize it was way different than Budokai & Budokai Tenkaichi and see the scathing reviews online that shit on the game lol
But I still loved the game & enjoyed the good parts because as a kid I was grateful for whatever I could afford.

exactly how I feel with final fantasy, first mainline game I played was 13 lol. Even with the game’s problems something about the animations and soundtrack just do it for me.

@@jammo7370 13 is over-hated. While it does have it's problems, it's not an awful game. Its combat system is my favorite in the entire mainline series. So many paradigm combinations and approaches to battles.
And before anyone says it, no 13 was not my first FF. I played 7, 8, 10, 10-2, and 12 before I even touched it.

Now when I look at it I just like the memories, but not the gameplay that basically does everything for you

Spike went from making the literal best Dragon Ball games in the franchise with the BT and RB games to making the single worst db game of all time. And then proceeding to ruin arena fighter reputations forever with Jump Force and the OPM game

UT isn't that bad of a game even with it's gameplay style.

Honestly there are two things this game did right:
Saiyan Tails
Being able to fight like a mentor after training with them (Instead of only getting the Supers/Ults)
The hair becoming different in the super saiyan transformation
(XENOVERSE shouldn't deserve credit for SSJ3)
That halfway point timeskip kinda goes hard Macchiato went through his training arc

He didn’t lie though. If you haven’t played the game and think it’s like the rest of the series, then it definitely subverts every single one of those expectations you would have going in.
The saddest thing about this game is that everything besides the gameplay is decent to good. But the gameplay just ruins it. Loved this game as a kid but even then, I never found playing it to be that fun. Lot of cool cinematics tho
My favorite part was Doto screaming “60 thousand?!” and immediately getting blasted to pieces. 26:48

It's crazy that this game still has better customization than xenoverse 1 and 2. Tails that actually move, hair that changes to different styles when turning super saiyan, actual voice acting other than grunts and super callouts, etc...

Too bad they wasted they whole game on a rock paper cisor
Not to mention how all the characters and world get actually show damage during the fights
Lets also not forget that u could customize your aura also. So was nice to do something like SSG or SSB.
You can customize your fighting style to your masters form as well

The fact that this was one of my first Dragon Ball games aside from Xenoverse, this game had to teach you how to properly mash the Y (or triangle) button in order to survive the giant boss fights. I did like the idea of Hero Mode and how they even got to speak, but man were you gonna have a hard time playing the game if you weren't always in High Tension mode.
Same here, I started off *ROUGH* my life started with this into battle of Z.... God. but even before that Those giant battles gave me a run for my money, as I was terrible at QTE's so when the mash ones came up I couldn't do it and got stuck on the metal cooler core one for ages. Eventually I bested it but even now I still suck at mashing. But yeah, If you're aren't in high tension kiss your life goodbye. (Also screw omega mf and baby bested me so many times that I started training as a kid so i'd never loose)

This game is one of my guilty pleasures. It's in the catagary of it's so bad it's good, and i have to play it at least once a year. ha takes me back. Thanks doto now i gotta play this again.
You know, this game could've been potentially one of the BEST dbz games if they didn't make the gameplay glorified rock paper scissors, and just copied the gameplay from Raging Blast or the Budokai Tenkaichi games because honestly i think this game nailed almost every other aspect because visually? I really like this game and while its not the Biggest roster of characters its still a decently solid roster, and both story modes are pretty neat especially the one that retells the original story as it includes the really good looking reanimated parts of important moments in the dbz story
They could have made a better DBZ Asura's Wrath! :(

When I was 10, I remember being so hyped about this game, My father bought a XBox 360 and the first game was that "Tenkaichi", imagine the hype of a kid who played for several hours and completed all Budokai Tenkaichi 3, waiting to play the next of it. sure, I played, and even being a 10 year old with not a big game experience, I knew that that game sucked. after some months, The Xbox got the "red circle of the death" or something like that and we couldn't fix it, I hate that game with all my soul

As someone who played ultimate tenkaichi, the combat system is so unintuitive its impossible to explain how bad it is. You really needed to be there
When it comes to Dotodoya intros, you think of a video that starts with the phrase "when it comes to" or "when you think of." This video did not disappoint
I replayed Ultimate Tenkaichi just last year and it really is very boring. But the one thing you can't deny is that the OST is fucking fire
btw. I don't know if Doto will find out later but spamming triangle is the most effective way because it actually fills your super much faster
This was the very first Dragon Ball game I was old enough to remember lookig foward for during its development...
And I am a Budokai Tenkaichi 2 boy, therefore when I saw that game title...
I got bamboozed.
I gave it away years ago; and got it back last year *solely* because I wanted to get all its trophies, so I could consider the Raging Blast saga fully over in terms of trophies (I succeded, and so the game is laying forgotten in my closet once again).
Those damned timing quick time events accounted for like 75% of my deaths in this game… and I was stupid enough to play the story mode 3 times to have a character of each type (Light, Medium, and Heavy). I also subjected myself to the torture of the online multiplayer where the input lag is so bad that you can not feasibly play it. But I do like some things about this game. The visuals are the sickest thing in the world to me, and the fact that this game allowed you to customize your Aura and Xenoverse didn’t makes me so unreasonably mad. That and of course you mentioned the soundtrack.
I love that the title is literally just the game. There is nothing else to say about it, well besides the kickass soundtrack. And it has some of the best looking ki blasts and beam struggles imo
That last fight was WILD, I never knew you fought shenron in this 10+ year old game. And flew INSIDE HIM

I honestly just really loved the Ultimate Shenron boss fight in this game. I don’t know why, but whenever I think of Ultimate Tenkaichi, I think of Ultimate Shenron.

Doto's intros are getting better and better, out of 3 idiots, and his friends, Doto sure is the best when it comes to intros and commentary, this guy got a talent in that
I'm going to be honest: The most fun I had with this game was playing the co-op versus mode. The guessing mechanic was so broken that neither of us took it too seriously, but that's honestly what made it fun.
God I'll never forget going and buying this on release, being so excited for a DBZ game with a character creator, only to be slammed in the nuts by just how ass this game is to play! Also a fun fact I quickly learned about the AI is that the choices they make for square vs triangle almost always follow one of three preset patterns, always choosing square, always choosing triangle, or alternating back and forth.
This was the first dragon ball game I owned. I really liked the character creator and had fun roleplaying the story. When I played it with my friends they said the combat was terrible and I later discovered xenoverse

Personally this was one of my favorite dbz games purely for the fact that this was my only dbz game I could play at the time. This game actually introduced me to dbz so I love it for that reason

I actually really loved the hero mode with the voice acted character dialogue. Even though the options are limited and the gameplay sucks, i really like this story mode more than the story for xenoverse by a large margin

Edit: I forgot how short this story was. Were there really only those few battles? I swear it was longer. Maybe I was juet so bad and died so often that it felt longer.
The only thing that could make this campaign better is if the power of the fighters goes completely random so after fighting piccolo, you fight jeice, then base goku, and then great ape baby, then krillian and finally omega shenron
