The funny thing is King Kunta dropped before Drake was exposed for the ghostwriting. Which is why Kendrick says "I swore I wouldn't tell", implying he knew Drake had hidden writers and wanted to speak on it, but was deliberately leaving his name out of it.

The yams thing is a reference the 1958 book Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, its one of the most proflific and important pieces of african literature, really really amazing book about the african perspective on the colonization of africa by the british, in the book farming yams is a major part of the social structure in pre-colonial african culture and was a big symbol of masculinity and power.
I highly recomend the book its super good, makes you appreciate that line so much more too when you really understand how deep in goes, theres big parralels to be drawn between what kendrick is talking about in this album and the story of Okonkwo from the book.
also "Lucy" is both lucifer and also lucian grainge, the CEO of UMG and most powerful person in control of the music industry in terms of record labels etc.
also the version of I on this album is actually a live recording where a fight broke out in the audience that kendrick decided was better than the actual album track version.

Oh bruh, if you love "i," I highly HIGHLY HIGHLY request watching the Saturday Night Live performance of it! In that performance, he combines the two versions (album ver & the single/music video ver) of "i" (there is a on top of the end part of "Momma" (the "I've been looking for you my whole life" outro) while his attire is an ode to Method Man. One of the best SNL performances ever.
Also, side note on when you said Kendrick could really be an activist and "Mortal Man" alone addresses how finicky the public can be to celebrities, especially innocent black celebrities in the media who are still treated like criminals. "DAMN" and "Mr. Morale" were Kendrick's answer to that very question put into albums.
DAMN - "Damn, even when I am doing good, my art gets misconstrued by the media (he was livid at FOX News intentionally misinterpreting the lyrics to his "Alright" performance at the BET Awards as him promoting anti-cop hate when the song's message is about preserving through all the negativity that afflicted him but also can be applied to the black community). Even when I am doing good, people don't think I'm advocating enough or at all because I'm not posting it on social media (when ppl online accused him of being a hypocrite around the George Floyd/BLM era only for pics to break out that he was attending George Floyd protests in his city incognito. Mans didn't want the attention. Was just doing the right thing without drawing attention).
Mr. Morale - "Stop thinking I'm going to save the bs you all face in your personal lives. Stop trying to make me a significant voice for all of the black community when the only voice I can speak for is myself and what aligns with me. I'm not your savior. Stop putting me on a pedestal because money and fame doesn't change the fact I'm still a flawed human. None of these black celebrities are your saviors nor can they save you. Only you can save yourself like I saved myself by going to therapy and getting my shit together."

As a graphic designer, I learned about how important it is to study and plan out everything when you're about to execute a concept, you may have great ideas but execution is key for people to really enjoy them... And this... THIS FUCKING ALBUM blew my mind, and still blows my mind, with how EVERYTHING is perfectly placed and well thought out.
Kendrick's performances, the production, the song sequencing, the Tupac interview at the end, the psychological development of Kendrick throughout all the songs, and the final reveal of the whole poem... This is my favorite album of all time. And I'm from Honduras, so I don't relate to 90% of Kendrick's struggles, but the way he portrays his emotions and pours his heart out in this song is fucking beautiful.
P.S. PLEASE react to "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City", that would be a fire reaction🔥, also Kanye has amazing albums for reaction videos, and Eminem's first 3 albums would also be hilarious to see your reaction. 🤣

One of my favourite things to see is people just going into it and with the first 5 tracks just thinking this is going to be a smooth album, but once you hit the end of "These Walls" it all just starts falling down into it's right place and it perfectly balances the pessimism and the optimism that constantly penetrates his mind as a black man and some of it is just tragic and the rest is some of the most hopefull songs of all time and this contrast just makes the album go to another level. It's for me the best album of all time and I just hope everyone can recognise it's achievements on the music world.
