When I was a young man at Sydney University I joined the Green Party (naively) and went to meetings where protests were planned. Then I saw the "leader" (with hair in dreadlocks and load of bracelets etc) of the party arriving at the university driving a super new BMW where he got out and screamed at people for daring to get in the way of his vehicle. Hard manual work, removal of cell phones, being away from toxic universities and their so-called friends for AT LEAST two months.
On the other hand, it was so nice to see a regular Sydney advert for her sponser.😊
If Ivy League students can’t figure out how to not die in an air conditioned building in America then so be it. I’d imagine some of them could stand some time away from snacks. This stuff is crazy. And the list of “please give us” is insane.
Ivy League student protesters. Hollywood writer's strike.
They make the hostage demands from RoboCop seem reasonable.
These protestors are insufferable.
insufferable? you mean like the women and children starving in gaza at this very moment while the gov sends them the money and weapons to do it?
I would be ashamed if I had a kid like that. Talk about a sense of entitlement. They should be thankful they don't have to go to Europe or Africa to right the Nazis.
But the genocide they're protesting is fine with you?
They are but this is the one thing they're not wrong about... Who do you think has put all the transgender, woke bullshit into the USA?
they are the weakest link in western culture and the world in general, and will make the world a sadder and more dangerous place
I'm sorry, but as soon as they started destroying the college property their ability to remain on the premises should have been voided.
Also, the "We're hungry and thirsty, bring us food and drink," behavior is laughable. They barricaded themselves in the building, they should have thought of that BEFORE THEY STARTED their 'protest'. (Also-also, they have actual running water in the building.)
You're hungry and thirsty? If you want food and something to drink besides water, you can leave; but you're not getting back in the building after you vacate it.
Many of the protesters at these campuses make the characters from the Dumb and Dumber movies seem smart enough to be cast as the intellectuals from The Big Bang Theory.
One thing i can't stand are hypocrites. These students are the biggest hypocrites you can think of. Pretty sure Sydney nailed it when you have them talking about womens rights, yet do their little submission display to islam. Pick a lane.
But what's worse is you will have people in the media who support this and will spin it to their way no matter what happens.
They need a simple "You made your bed, you lay in it" thinking. Start billing them for the mess they made, arrest people not enrolled in the schools for trespassing and fine students for disruptive behaviour. There is protesting and there is having a hissy fit and what they are doing isn't protesting.
That’s what’s wrong with the news media now days, they have a clear agenda and wont call out people for their hypocrisy.
Almost as if you can be for women’s rights and against killing innocent people at the same time..
istg you people are so dense
There is nothing hypocrite about that. Only a numb brain who grew watching 2000s police shows would think this way. Women's right are being taking away in palestine by israel. Linking it to religion is a pathetic attempt to ignore all those dead mothers, orphaned children, and raped women.
I agree with everything you said. This world is a huge mental asylum and it gets worse every day...
I agree with your second sentence. With genocide supporters like you holding office, the world truly is a huge mental asylum.
Protest rallies at university campuses in the US, Canada, Britain, and Australia against what (let there be no mistake about this) are the undeniably disproportionate responses by the Israeli Defense Forces [IDF] upon Gaza, for the heinous barbarism Hamas militia forces initiated on October 7, reached fever pitch in the last two weeks of April, and into May. However, it is also an undeniable reality that, Hamas’ strategists, were 101% certain Israel’s rejoinder to what its militia initially inflicted upon unarmed Israelis on October 7, would be met with the ferocious responses which have transpired.
Therefore, the only conclusion to draw is that Hamas’ military strategists willfully launched that gruesome attack on October 7, knowing full well that Israel would respond ferociously. Essentially, Hamas was fully prepared to inevitably sacrifice the lives of many thousands of Gazans: in order for it to win the PR war. And there are two aspects with this abhorrent strategy.
First, they knew it was absolutely certain that, the millions of Muslims currently residing in Western countries (which accrues to be in the vicinity of 30 million people) would culminate with them rallying en masse to stage pro-Palestinian, and anti-Western protests.
The second trait of its plan, was with banking upon gaining the sympathy of leftoid liberals in Western spheres: by way of manipulating their mindsets with seeing an unending parade of suffering in Gaza.
Well, the latter facet has certainly come to fruition, and prevails with leftist-leaning education federations in Western nations calling for ‘solidarity with Palestine’, and the ‘eradication of Israel, and its inhabitants’. However, these same entities haven’t summarily condemned the extreme barbarism that Hamas perpetrated on October 7, with callously massacring between 1200, unarmed people, and raping women.
With respect to Muslim organisations not condemning this barbarism, obviously come as no surprise to anyone. After all, these same Islamic entities have never unreservedly condemned those Muslims fundamentalists who willfully murdered 532 people, during the Reign of Terror that transpired in Britain and western Europe, between the Atocha bombings in 2004, and all the way through to the murder of the local MP, Sir David Amess, on October 15, 2021.
At every pro-Palestinian/anti-Western rally that has occurred in scores of major cities, and campuses in Western nations from the middle of October, has seen numerous instances of vile rhetoric being spewed out calling for the eradication of Israel, and Jews. One such instance occurred in Melbourne, on November 23, at a pro-Palestinian rally, when a 16-year-old Muslim girl (clad with a scarf over its head), unconditionally called for the annihilation of Israel, and Jews.
On Nov 24, a front-page article pertaining in The Australian titled, ‘Chilling words of Aussie schoolkid: Hamas ‘doing a good job’. The article reported that a 16-year-old Muslim girl, “bristled with glee about the Jews who were butchered by Hamas militia”.
Since then, we’ve had the horrific situation where a 16-year-old Muslim boy attacked a Syrian bishop at the pulpit in his church at Wakley. He did this, because the bishop had “defiled the prophet”. Yesterday, Friday May 4, I went to the Sydney University where a pro-Palestinian, and pro-Israel groups faced off with each other. And it was there that I heard two young Muslim women square off with three pro-Israeli protestors, and one of them said, “The sooner there is no Israel, and no Jews on the planet, is hen the world will be a good place.”
Well, if I (a white male) was to have said anything as divisive as that, to any person who was non-white or, indeed, a non-Christian, then the authorities would have charged me with some offence. And if I was in Britain that would entail a jail sentence of at least two years.
Alas, when it comes to Muslims vomiting out vile, and highly derogatory perspectives, politicians and self-hating, progressives/liberals are like the three monkeys, who only want to see what fits into their deluded perspectives. Effectively, that boils down to being that, ONLY White folks can be racist and bigoted.
Apropos to why politicians here in Australia have been virtually quite obscure with calling out Muslims for their disdain to Jews and the abolition of Israel, is inherently due to the fact that, there are 8 federal electoral seats in Sydney and Melbourne that have high percentage of Muslim voters that would dislodge their sitting members. However, there are also another 4 seats in the major cities of Australia, with up to 20 percent of voters in Labor held seats who are Muslim.
Hence, those percentages of voters in these seats, which are also held by Labor party members, are more than enough to oust them, too. Therefore, if the federal government was to condemn the virulent bigotry espoused and, INDEED, inflicted by Muslims would see it lose office. In confluence with this occurring here in Australia, there are similar occurrences taking place in the US, Canada, and in Britain, whereby Muslims threaten the security of political parties in those spheres.
This most certainly the case in Britain, whereby HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of Muslims have taken to the streets in recent months demonstrating with pro-Palestinian rallies. All of which extols that Muslims are totally unassimilable in the host societies. And because of their numbers can affect the outcomes of elections.
Shitty parents.
Do you think that's a byproduct (in part) of the advent of social media and 'always online' norms?

In 2020 my daughter’s friends tried to force her to go to a BLM event downtown. She said absolutely not! I’m sure those are the same kids doing this now while my daughter is graduating and moving for her new job. I’m so proud she’s never been a follower.
Funny how these protests seem to pop up right before a presidential election...
Just like clockwork.
Not everything is a conspiracy
@@mattimath5159 Exactly, this is less to do with the Presidential election and more to do with we just have countless activist organizations who pour ungodly amounts of money into funding causes like this. This could have just as easily happened last year
The fact it only happens on presidentail election years wad the point.
Don't mention Soros & Son, they like to stay in the shadows.
What I find sad on a general level, is that the people studying at Universities are supposed to be the bright future; and the future isn't very bright, when no issues seem to be debated these days. If it's only the one truth the students believe in, what is the point of Uni? While I haven't studied in the states, I can tell the mood has worsened and freedom of thought has diminished since the early noughties.
Turns out most of the people at these protest, aren’t actually students, and in a fair amount of the cases, not even from that city.
The primary issue with these people is they've never been criticized or told NO. They expect everything they do to be praised because, well, they deserve it.
Never been punched in the face you mean.
yeah, just like "say no to oil", just shut the production of oil down, the apex of being entitled and living in a bubble
And they unconsciously yearn to be told no. They want a master, as even Lacan, one of the bozos responsible for this mind virus, said to the 1968 Paris protestors.
Anyone else notice that the people barrickading inside the hall, have, with the demands they are making, made the entire protest about themselves?
I wonder if they realise this.
It was never about anything else but themselves. Too stupid to see the irony in what they are saying.
They do not. Narcissists have no insight into their own toxic behavior.
No they don't realize it's all about themselves. Can't these people just be American people. There's something seriously wrong with these people hating America. And their heritage. And gender. And sex and blah blah blah!
It's "summer of love" 2020 the sequel. Their protests are never actually concerned with helping the people they claim to represent. It was always, and only ever was about themselves, their egos, moral grandstanding, and the clout they get from signalling about the issue at hand. None of this activism or the protests feel authentic, they all look so fake and performative. They just want to get away doing whatever they want with no repercussions.
It's all a show for social credit points. Virtue signalling and all that. These protests change absolutely nothing because the war they're protesting against is taking place TWO CONTINENTS AWAY. It's like I'm going to do a food strike against the Chinese oppression of the ethnical minorities. I'm so far removed from that world (thank god) that it's silly. Nothing's going to change.
Ah, to be rich, leftist, bored, and privileged.

The tents were left behind which indicates they and the whole protest was organized and recruited and paid for.....
professional 'protest consultants', nice work if you can get it
Luckily it is mostly peaceful tents.
If you are like me from a generation that values tents as a reusable item, those times are in the past. Tents are single-use items nowadays and get left behind as trash on every mass-gathering occasion. Just look at festival grounds the day after... it's astonishing.
I should think it looks more like they were swept out by police. Should that be the case it would make Sydney's point about trash moot.

As absurd as it may seem from outside, the demand is not without reason. Police in general, and uni police WRT israel genocide protests in particular, have been known to blockade and kettle protests, arresting or turning away anyone who tried to enter the protest site. Getting the uni admin to publicly commit on something like this is actually important because it takes away one of the tools used by police to quell a protest.
This is going on in Canada as well. We're equally unimpressed.

What makes me wonder as a German guy who has been told how advanced, world-class-leading and awesome the Ivy League universities are: Maybe, maybeeee... these universities aren't really the intellectual elite bringing true progress (socially and technologically) but a closed club raising not the smartest people of a society and helping them via the league's network to get into positions in their career they are intellectually not suitable for? Not a promising scenario, if you ask me.

My gfs college tried to hold a protest and like 20 people showed up 😂
Something similar happened to me in 2018 here in Brazil just after I left my first uni. A teacher had to go on maternity leave, so the school hired a substitute (who happened to be a black woman) to fill in for her until her return. After the initial teacher returned and the sub left as per the contract, some students heard of this and decided that the school was discriminating against the substitute and DEMANDED that she be hired as "historical reparation". They barricated themselves inside with tables and chairs, teachers and students were not allowed in, and the school was forced to hire the teacher (the protesters never bothered to talk with her or check what she wanted, though I guess she didn't complain about getting a free job). It showed up in the news and everything. Thank god I left that place in time, and hope all this mess there in the US ends soon as well.
I think the counter protest with the Tennessee fraternities was a good touch
14:41 yessssss off you have a great way of summarizing this! This is so depressing to watch. You're right, this is hell
I willingly admit I don’t understand the current state of the Middle East enough to really take a side. I also fully support everyone’s right to protest, even if I don’t agree with or understand what they’re protesting. So these individuals protesting, by itself, is something I support. But the way they’re conducting themselves, the disrespect they’re showing, and the mess they’re leaving behind, is absolutely inexcusable to me. They’re completely embarrassing whatever cause they’re claiming to support
It's not complicated. One group routinely attacks the other, once they retaliate, the attacking group goes overboard and our government sends them the money and weapons to do so, making us their enemy as well. Simply put, if we stop supporting one group, the other won't make it their life goal to destroy us.

Agreed. And one cornerstone of protest is the element of sacrifice. Most protests involve deprivation of one sort or another, and it is a sign of the strength of your belief in the cause that you are willing to undergo that deprivation - being arrested among the most common of those. We knew that back in the 60's and 70's. If you're not willing to accept the hardship consequences of your (hopefully peaceful) unlawful protest, then how meaningful is your cause, really?
