    Sometimes, I have wondered how I would approach deep channels with a regular triple transport sewing machine.
    The problem I have found is the presser feet which due to its shape cannot freely run in the deep channel. Therefore the solution would be to make narrower presser feet. The one in the video is a simple prototype that still needs to be improved to make sewing much easier. Anyways it works out.
    As we can see, we are defying an almost 2 cm channel depth. It could be higher if we want.
    Perhaps the most important content of this video is the motivation to be innovative whenever it is necessary and not to be afraid of creating or doing modifications.
    I hope you find some inspíration in this video!

    Great skill to learn though how do you attach to other panels once completed that don’t have foam pleats?
    Like for example a seat center and attach side bolster panels

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Год назад +3

      There are different ways to attach the pieces together. It is a little difficult to verbally explain. I would like to make a video to show the process. In this video I show one way that consists in sewing the channel's bags beforehand. The cut foams are put/pushed inside the bags after finishing the whole sewing of the cover:

      Yes a combination of two foams. A standard upholstery foam on top (1/2" thick) In the lower position an Eva foam 6 mm thick.

    nice, i did this last year but i stopped to use it because i didn find a solution how i can integrate it in a motorcycle seat for example, because when you sew other parts over the edges it presses everything together and than it looks terrible, so im wondering for what exactely do you use these bulky pleats - car seats? any examples?

    • @Cechaflo

      It is not an easy task to attach the pieces together if we follow the regular procedures all the upholsterers know. We would have to resort to some tricks I would like to share in a next video.
      In these attached videos I show one way that consists in sewing the channel's bags beforehand. The cut foams are put/pushed inside the bags after finishing the whole sewing of the cover:

      I have used two kinds of foam in this video. On the bottom a foam that is called Eva foam/Latex foam (it is used for tennis shoes insoles)
      On the top I have used a 1 cm thick upholstery foam (medium density). This foam can be bought from Upholstery stores.
      Unfortunately I am located in Mexico and I get these products from local stores.

    Excuse my English. What are the space weights of the two foams?

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  6 месяцев назад +2

      6 mm wide between the 2 foams, considering the presser foot width and thickness of the vinyl that goes inside.
