@@Venxous batman. . Have Compassion for. His. Rogues
Great video.
Bat man is Christian. " See that none render evil for evil unto any man, but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves and with all men." 1 Thessalonians 5:15
to quote OSPs Red "if you cant imagine your batman comforting a dying child your not writing batman"
(Continuation) „your writing punisher“
"You're writing the punisher with a silly hat."
I remember how in “The Batman” you could see Batman feel bad for the kid whose father was killed by Riddler.
Bruce Wayne: Batman is meant to scare criminals, not children
@@Stirlingite-mm1nchow would that be the punisher? Even he's not that horrible. Sure, he kills, but he was a father and a soldier. When his family was gunned down in front of him, he went crazy. Even he would be good with children, just not an ideal role model.
Batman does care which is why a lot of the newer ones not caring that much hurts.
The animated series showed him using his money to help people, to build halfway homes to help former criminals change their life around, to have the man in a bat costume sit on a swing with a dying girl.
A dying girl that could end the world, kill everyone, and ending her quickly would make no difference in the end than letting her die naturally... And yet he sat on the swing with her and stayed with her to the end because it mattered.
Maybe not to the world, not to those around them, or even the end result... But it mattered to her and thus it mattered to him.
Compassion was his greatest strength you saw from time to time... It is a shame it seems to be viewed as a weakness or something to be mocked.
no idea why so many people think "not social and emotionally stunted" think he doesn't care about anyone, if anything he cares too much given his crusade against criminals.
@@AnAverageGoblin That's the entire point of Robert Battinson in The Batman. He's awkward and different and can't quite relate to people but he cares SO MUCH.
My favorite part of this moment with Ace is how it reconstructs Batman's code. With all his other villains, there's a constant moral conflict to how Batman's refusal to kill them indirectly leads to far more death. But by refusing to kill Ace, he helps her find peace in her last moments and saves millions. It goes to show there is a point to sticking by his code, if anyone else had gone through with Waller's plan the situation would've been far worse.
I like to view it as a mix of this, and Batman knowing he's nuttier than a payday bar and being afraid to spiral out of control
@@Weldedhodag Me and a buddy were discussing Batman the other day and we both determined that, in more properly written Batman stories anyway, Batman's mistrust of himself is his general paranoia about everything. He trusts virtually no one, especially himself.
@Weldedhodag I can't remember the exact phrasing but he kinda covers this in "under the hood" and says something along the lines of "If I ever go down that road, if I ever start killing. I don't think I'd be able to stop".
Bruce knows FULL well he's barely any different than the things he fights and that hard no kill rule is how he keeps himself from tipping over the edge. To a degree some versions have been implied to be scared he'd "enjoy it".
this would be a beautiful sentiment if the reason she was dying wasnt one of bruces other villains he didnt kill
@MrSandmanTBB that's because of Cadmis not the joker
I gotta say I completely agree with your take on Batman. Someone who tries to rise above tragedy and ensure better lives for the people around him
except that's not who he is.
@@plasticweapon how do you see him then?
@@plasticweapon He is if you read comics and watch more than the bad Zack Snyder movies.
@@AnAverageGoblin Zack Snyder and Frank Miller ruined how people view Batman.
@@plasticweaponYou are obviously a fan of Zack Synder (not) Batman.
Greatest batman is when he is portrayed as a Hero instead of anti-hero. Someone who got hurt, and decided: Never again, not for me, not for anyone else.
heroism isn't about beating the bad guy, it's about helping people.
this batman understands that to one of the greatest degrees.
The Batman 2022 at the end where he realizes he needs to be a symbol not of Vengeance but of Hope, and the person is so afraid of being lifted by the helicopter they hold onto Batman until he makes them feel safe. 😭
A lot of people really missed the point of The Batman.
Yeah, that was one of my favorite aspect of the newest Batman movie, and it had mixed in well with the Year One storyline they had going for it! I hope that they'll continue with Robert Pattinson's Bruce/Batman working out his more compassionate side in future movies as an overarching theme and continue to use lesser-known/less-spoken-about Batman stories that can challenge him to work on his compassion more - like maybe they'll adapt the Hush storyarc, or Baby Doll gets more of a future role for a change.
Pity the film couldn't have started with that Batman
@@abramsullivan7764 honestly yeah, i watched maybe 30 minutes of it and decided this aint my batman, though maybe i will have to watch it now

... This Batman always stops by to see Harvey in the Asylum. Because Harvey is his friend. And I love that.
That’s why (in my opinion) the best Batman heir is Dick Grayson. Not only is he a happier Batman but he’s also a character not defined by the tragedies of his life but defined by compassion he has for others and the compassion shown to him at a young age.
This is exactly why he’s my favorite too
Dude! 100%!
I’ve personally never been a fan of Damian. Dick has always been the best in-line to take over after Bruce because he too also has a deep compassion for those in need of help.
@@SuperRexProductions I like Damian currently and Damian in the Batman reborn era (and the rebirth Nightwing book) but yes I agree. I don’t see him becoming the next Batman.
Which is why personally love the Dick!Batman and Damian!Robin era from comics;
Just imagine, a somewhat cheerful, swashbuckling Batman and an edgy, serious Robin (and, as if by a miracle, Dick gets Damian to lighten up in a way not even Bruce managed to do)
A child forced to face the darkness of the world too early, this is both ace and Bruce's lives somed up.
I agree, This is Batman
He embodies vengeance upon everyone who has been wronged
But the man behind vengeance, is a sad individual who wants to ensure no one could ever go through the same pain that haunts his soul
But together, Batman inspires pain into positive change
He will fight the irredeemable and try to help.
i don't see either vengeance or compassion in batman's actions. he's all over the place.

Fair statement, I'll give you that
Sometimes he goes overboard such as the time in the animated series

Oh my b, but hey it's been 5 months since we've gotten back to this topic lol so I'm a little forgetful ✨🤣
my batman will always be a batman that cares, a batman even as his alter ego of bruce wayne is doing everything he can to make sure no one goes through what he did
He is a abusive and cold asshole.
Overly Sarcastic Productions put it best: If you can't write a Batman that can comfort a scared child on the worst day of their life, then he's not Batman. He The Punisher wearing a silly hat.
I always liked the line where someone is yelling at Batman that he took Dick Grayson under his wing, and helped him take down his parents killer so he could be just like him. And Batman responded, “No, I did it so he wouldn’t.”
It was wonder woman and it was because batman was fine with Shazam being on the Justice League even though he's a child
Yeah, since the Burton era, media had kinda boxed him in as dark and brooding character, strictly a symbol of fear, an isolated individual, an indifferent, calculating monster. When in reality, he has more in common with the optimistic, compassionate Superman than he does the cynical, self-serving Luthor.
It's easy to forget that, in his own way, he loves Gotham. Most people have given up on the city, but Batman hasn't.
Yea, and while in Batman Beyond he go (more) reclusive, Supes still hold him in high regard
@@hafirenggayuda Exactly.
And it also shows partly why Zach Snyder's Batman is so frustrating. He gave us a completely jaded and pessimistic Batman, one who would willingly kill Superman if there was even a 1% chance Superman could pose a threat to the world.
I said it once and I’ll say it several times again but that scene with Batman and Ace is the definition Batman scene.
when people say "why doesnt he kill his villains" misses the point of him. He tries to help his villains to become better. And that is what his character is about.
People often dismiss the episode because of Terry being related to Bruce but they fail to see that even without that connection, he still put on the cowl and he decided his destiny on his own. The conflict is how he feels about being Bruce’s seed and what that entails for him before ultimately coming to the conclusion that there’s always a need for a Batman but the wearer does always have to bow down to the mask like Bruce had done.
You know, everyone talks about Epilogue, and they talk about Batman, and Ace, and Terry, but what I don't hear people talk about is this was the best Amanda Waller we probably ever got or ever will get. Cadmas was originally supposed to be the clear bad guys, but the writers realized while they were doing bad things their intentions of having weapons against literal gods was not a bad thing.
Nowadays, Waller is just the most toxic person in modern depictions. This old age Waller who would actually comfort Terry for what she did but still stand by it? We'll probably never see it again.
Like Bruce told Harley once after her bad parole day, giving her the blouse she actually bought legally.
"I had a bad day too once..."
Harley answered: "Good guys like you shouldn't have bad days."
He understood, and Harley in her addled state of mind showed genuine compassion for his efforts.
Ace was having the ultimate bad day, and Bruce was there doing what her could.
That's who Batman is for me, he is the masculine idol. He is violence in the name of order and protection, but he's is also the wall that takes the brunt at his own cost so you don't have to.
subbed. You get it, who the best Batman is and why. How Batman is supposed to be. He’s not an edgy, hateful playboy, he’s a deeply hurting kid who lost his parents and just wants to help other people who hurt like he does, or prevent them from ever having that hurt. He’s the representation of the phrase, “ I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worst enemy” and it shows because he has compassion for even the most vile criminals.
Exactly. Today's society we're taught to demonize people for simply having a different political view and here Batman shows care and compassion to people most of us would label lost causes long ago
The episode was The Return.
But yes we all like a badas Batman but we need the Batman that offers his hand. Why beyond hating the actor for a few reason, I refuse to count Hackflex as a man to don the cowl. The version Zack Snyder used is a childish bully. Kevin knew the weight Batman carried and how his goal was no child suffering in fear and lose. The way Bruce talks to young Richard when we see Robin's origin story is great for that. And how Alfred reminds Batman that maybe what young Dick needs isn't Batman but the kindness of Bruce.
Young Justice got it a bit too with Batman wanting to avoid Dick being like him.
And even Lego Batman a story I like but don't feel it's a great Batman learns kindness.
CONROY APROVED BATFLECK THOUGH
@@ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΑ-ε1ω Did he approve Batfleck, or did he approve Ben Affleck's casting as Batman. Because Zack Snyder did an amazing job with the casting for the DCEU. It's just his writing that sucked. If you had the DCEU cast with a writer that actually understood these characters, the DCEU would have been bigger than the MCU. If Paul Dini or Dwayne McDuffie (RIP) had written the scripts for the DCEU movies, and all Snyder had to do was direct, it would be brilliant. Snyder is great at putting together visuals. His remake of Dawn of the Dead was great, because he didn't write it. James Gunn did. And Gunn is a fantastic storyteller, unlike Snyder.

"I've been hurt, so I will help those around me"
The ultimate rule a Batman should have.
"I've never known anyone who cared more about his fellow man than Bruce Wayne." - Amanda Waller, Justice League Unlimited
Batman is a driven, hard man but even for all his stoicism & willingness to do what must be done he's still a hurt 8 year old who wants to see the best. His mission is to help people so even if it's comforting a child he will take it on himself. As much as Bruce will think he's just a shell for Batman, he will never let go of the desire that Bruce Wayne has to make the world safer
Lore of Batmans Legacy Is Compassion momentum 100
There's a reason why Batman volunteered to get to Ace when Waller wanted to use a weapon on Ace, but Batman never intended to use that weapon on Ace. He knows that Ace suffered enough already. He sat down with her until her time came, and yet, the world was saved in the end. All because of Batman's compassion to Ace. The best part about the Ace scene is that it led to Waller creating Bruce's future successor: Terry McGinnis (Is that how you spell his name?). One of the biggest W's in Batman's history.
More examples: his approach to Victor Fries, Mary Dahl, Pamela Isley´s plant clone, Robert Kirkland... And even in BotF, he showed enough compassion when the situation deserved it. And Terry learned from his parents and from him, he offered redemption to many of his foes.
5:00 that's always a gut punch to me😭

I miss waller being the wall, unstoppable, determined, but she does whats right. She genuinely wants a safer future for everyone. Not some hero hating monster who throws lives away by the thousand.
⚠️ EPILEPSY WARNING ⚠️ THIS VIDEO CONTAINS FLASHING LIGHTS ⚠️
This might upset some people but I personally HATE that Terry McGinnis is a clone of Bruce Wayne. Because being clone completely removes his relevance as separate character. I always said that "one does not need to be blood related to a hero someone to be a hero on their own." Why couldn't Terry just be a nobody? Just a nobody with a strong sense for Justice and bravery to stand up for what he believes in? That is what makes a hero. Not being a clone of someone. I think Batman of the Future was an excellent series and it was Terry's show I hate that he got downgraded in the ending of JLU epilogue.
"Your not His clone, you are His son". - Amanda Waller
@@sltinesltton8371 Clone or son, functionally it is the same. Still it does not change the purpose of Terry being someone who became a hero because he was "created" for it. And not because it was the right thing to do.
Many readers get it wrong and think Batman is a symbol of vengeance, which is wild to me.
Batman is a symbol of hope. Not just any hope, but a beautiful, irrational hope.
To the people in the DC universe who do not know Batman is Bruce Wayne, Batman is a symbol of vengeance, and Batman clearly cultivates this perception.
But the reader (and certain comic book characters) know that Batman is also Bruce Wayne, and thus can piece together that the vengeance thing is an act and that he's really about hope. Or as you put it, compassion.
See, Bruce Wayne is a successful businessman. A critical skill for any businessman is knowing when a particular project or even department is a lost cause and shutting it down as quickly as possible to avoid losing too much money. Failure to do this will result in a swift trip to bankruptcy court. You have to know when something is just not going to work out, and stopping the bleeding as soon as possible by getting rid of it. So we know that Bruce Wayne must have this skill. He would not have so much money if he did not have this skill.
And yet, Bruce Wayne spends millions of dollars trying to redeem the most irredeemable villains in the DC universe.
He has to know that trying to reform those particular villains is extremely unlikely to be successful, and yet he spends substantial amounts of money year upon year upon year trying to do exactly that.
The people in the DC universe only know about Batman obsessively attacking those villains and dragging them back to prison or Arkham Asylum over and over and over, so for them, Batman is a symbol of vengeance. But the reader sees Bruce Wayne spend all that money trying to redeem people that he should know are irredeemable.
He is an atheist who is obsessed with the idea that everyone can be redeemed.
Like I said, he's not just a symbol of hope, but it is a beautiful, irrational kind of hope that will never bend to reason.
That gives a lot of context to his rule against killing. He cannot bring himself to kill anyone, because it is always possible that the person he killed could have been redeemed and/or cured of their mental illness.
Batman is actually a symbol of vengeance, though. Superman is Hope.
I wish the live action media understood this. I really hope James Gunn can give us this version. He seems to be on the right track with Superman, so fingers crossed. Yeah, he can be dark and gritty, but if you don't balance that with the empathy and compassion, he becomes boring. One of many reasons why I dislike the DCEU, and the Snyderverse specifically. He did both Batman and Superman so badly. And Wonder Woman.
6:43 That's Amazo in the background. I had to look up the episode name, Tabula Rasa.
The Batman 2022 understands it
No I just wished people in general understood it
The writers have made Batman this unstoppable god and the internet wanst the punisher
I dont want to lose another thing I love
My problem with this depiction is the fact that comics are very very long and often have tons of stories that can be contradictory....
Saying Batman is one way or another is very shallow because there have been so many depictions and so many comics and shows and movies that his mythos and legends are kinda out there....
Like, maybe the main Batman YOU grew up with is one way.... but saying Batman is only that way feels too shallow...
Some versions of Batman comforted children, some didn't care... all were Batman...
Maybe not the version YOU grew up with.... but still Batman....
I always admired how the animated Batman was too. Whenever I felt cheated or angry at the world I would think maybe I should just give up and be the bad guy since it's so much easier. But then this character who not only had every excuse to be a villain decided to be a hero instead. Still giving his everything even for the ones that give him grief and trouble. It kind of gave me the strength to not fall into the darkness til I eventually became a cartoonist :D
It's almost as if superheroes are supposed to be HEROES. Not just crime-fighters.
Is it necessary to have that flashing light flickering every second from top to bottom? I would have watched the video till end but that effect ruined it for me.
Can someone tell me the name of the background music use in this video? Please!
honestly i much prefer his compassion being the reason he never kills over his paranoia.
the man knows the absolute value of a life and couldn't bare to inflict the pain onto others, cause even if the villains themselves deserve it, the families don't.
obviously the jokers existance is a complete rebuttal to the ideology but that's what makes him such an interesting villain, he is the obvious rebuttal to batmans ideology and that's the point.
plus you know character flaws make characters interesting, there's a reason mary sues are despised, perfect decision making simply doesn't create any drama.
Not sure how Batman would even deal with his rogues gallery. He’s not judge, jury, and executioner and the only thing he can do is send them to Arkham or police.
And he’s not gone kill then. That’s his #1 rule.
Helping them with their problems,If I recall there is a Episode. where he as Bruce pays Harvey Dent's surgery to get his face fixed and employs the ventriloquist after getting him actual mental treatment
My favourite quote I’ve heard about Batman is “if you can’t imagine your Batman comforting a dying child; you’ve not written Batman, you’ve just written a bad Punisher”
This is one point about Batman that many writers and artists forget when trying to push forward Batman's mega-bucks kick-assery.
He would NOT BE Batman, if he didn't CARE.
Ultimately he's out there NOT for revenge, but because he NEVER wants another child to experience HIS pain.
Rewatched On Leather Wings the other night. It was refreshing how Bruce didn't send Kirk to prison or Arkham. Instead he just returned him to his wife at the end after giving Kirk an antidote he managed to make.
James Gunn should watch this
Background music name, anyone?
i think it was said best, "if you cannot envision batman sitting down and comforting a child, you arent writing batman"
dont remember who said it. but its a powerful sentence
This is the ultimate version of Batman. While other versions of Batman may be good, the one portrayed by Kevin Conroy in the DCAU is as close to perfection as it gets (at least to me).
I don't like modern batman, because its all about glorifying the superficial garbage around him while losing a lot of the most classic versions maturity.
DCAU Batman solos every live action version his humanity is what made him so iconic.
Batman is the personification of the superman. The ideal man we all wish we were, but feel we can never be.
92, 99, 04 & The Brave and the Bold are unquestionably the four best entries on that entire list at the start
It was the golden era, not just for Batman but all Media, all *LIFE*
You are not wrong with your perception of Batman
If you can't see Batman in that scene with Ace, or even Babydoll, you're not watching Batman.
I hate the Terry is secretly Bruce's son created by Amanda Waller via nanobots because it demeans Terry's being Batman. It's not in Terry's character or ideals to be Batman. It's because "DURR GENETIX. LIKE FATHER LIKE SON AMIRIGHT OR AMIRIGHT DRRR"..... It's so cross eyed and stupid as it is lame. They couldn't just let it be, they just HAD to make it SO connected. Also it demeans Bruce being Batman. Stuff like this has nothing to do with genes. Batman is a meme, an ideology Bruce himself wouldn't want anyone else suffer.
It's like about as stupid as doing the same with Spider-Man.
If you can't imagine Batman sitting down to comfort a child
Then it's because you're imagining The Punisher with a cape and cowl.
Exactly. That's why I hate modern batman. He's overly brutal and heartless and yet he still doesn't kill people? BULLSHIT!
2:08 The answer is simple. It’s because he’s human and she believes in humanity, especially somebody who doesn’t give up.
It’s funny how people hate Batman and Superman being compassionate.
I can not watch that ace dying episode, i always had to skip it cause i know i wouldn't hold back my tears.
Another reason i love batman. DC? Oh, you mean batman and his other super hero bitches
Agree... to disagree. "Epilogue" is a terrible finale to the entire Batman Beyond saga. Seeing Batman sitting by Ace's side is completely out of character. It was Superman who should've supported her.
What more is there to say when the title of this video says it perfectly
Batman’s true legacy isn’t vengeance or darkness or even justice
It’s compassion, it’s helping those who need help

To be fair I disagree, I don't think a Compasionate Batman is the only good batman. Issue with a lot of comics is people choose to write vanilla tropey nonsense thats good for a few issues, but irritating if made a facet of a character. The Dark Multiverse proves you can remove Compassion from batman and it still be good, I think the idea that a hero must one specific thing is how we get charcters lik earely superman who are annoying boy scouts. People keep using the quote; "if you cant imagine your batman comforting a dying child your not writing batman" people love this comment and will use it till they are blue in the face to basically mock and insult the character. I think compasionate batman is fantastic, its a great version of batman but anyone who thinks he shopuld be just that, frankly shouldn't be writing cause it means they are a one trick pony. Comapssion becomes nausiating after a while and when you make it a facet you make said character nausiating.
I think The Batman Who Laughs, The Batman that Killed The World, Thomas Waynes Batman, New 52 Batman, the list goes on. These characters all break the "Batman is always compasionate trope and do it in a way that makes them Batman but a different batman, now to play the devils advocate a compasionate batman is good cause it really makes characters like The Batman who laughs more terrifying as we see what Batman could become with a simple killing spree crime case and joker toxin. Again the quote; "if you cant imagine your batman comforting a dying child your not writing batman" fails to acknowledge the fact that comic book characters have a multiverse meaning there is no wrong answer for what batman should be. Batman is at his core justice and Vengence, even Batman when compasionate know when it's time to take a life. To which he's done mutliple times accross the DC Multiverse and the Dark Multiverese, even going as far as to kill the joker to protect Superman. I think OSPs Red is allowed to have his opinion but I disagree Batman is so much more than just compasion and treating him like a 1 dimensional boy scout is just bad writing in my opinion. A hero MUST take a life when necesary else things like what happened to Rachel (Christopher Nolan Batman Movies) will happen. There is one story i read i can't remember if it was offical or fan made but Joker made batman choose between Robin and a Bus full of children. He choses the children and Joker drops both of them before batman can act, now earlier in the story Batman had a chance to kill joker and he didn't so because of this "Compasionate Batman" a bus full of children died and he lost a Robin.
I Liked Batman Episode "Babydoll" a Grown Woman in the Body of Little Girl at the End He Show Her Compassion.
Another point to add- that you showed, is... That assassin that Waller hired to "create the new Batman"? That assassin understood that you cannot continue Batman's legacy via breaking the golden rule. He has a few rules, that he's known for breaking on occasion- even so far as using guns sometimes. He's failed to save some others. But, outright kill? That would've later on caused Terri to flip out if/ when he learned who was responsible and why.
Great take! If you look up the grave marker of Bob Kane, it discribes the inspiration behind Batman. It gave me goosebumps when i read it!
I'm pretty sure that entire legions of Batman fans have dedicated their lives to trying to live their lives, influenced by this remarkable character; trying to make their world a better place. One that he'd be proud of-strange as that is to say.
DCAU batman is the best because he sacrifice so much and he still cares, he sacrifice his love life (DCAU wonderbat is the best), his mind and body and also his fortune just to see him old, alone and weak with his future just changing slightly better but he still train terry to become his successor because the world still needs batman
In contrast the nolan batman just says sayonara and go on honeymoon with catwoman leaving gotham to a police dick grayson (no hate for the actor just the role, they should not have change dick grayson origin) and that bruce wayne is still young, not wrinkly old man and he leaves gotham under new identity and people love this batman... lol
I wish this was accurate as your 100% right, but the way the writers are, he's more of a freaking man child then season 1 tomura shigaraki (MHA) now and forever who abuses the frick out of his own friends and family to get his way. Just ask Dick why he didn't tell the batfam the moment he came back and instead went into spiral instead and why Barbara had to track his phone across the world or Jason about the time that he beat on him harder then the joker ever got and would've been to death had Roy not stepped in, ripped off his symbol, and then messed with his brain chemistry to replace adrenaline with freaking fear gas for the heinous crime of putting a blank in the penguin's eye.
Batman TAS is amazing. There's only one problem with the good guy Batman theory. A man who is sane, well adjusted, and full of compassion isn't going to put on a Batsuit and go out at night to throttle punks. He isn't going to ignore people's civil rights and the rule of law.
I like the character of Naruto for similar reasons. While he's not a brooding dark knight he is someone who grew up with no parents, friends, or kindness of any kind til 12 years old. Once he got it it left a profound effect on him that makes him the empathetic character he is. He helps many characters out of that bit of despair and cynicism to be better people. Some become allies and other do one last act of kindness to make up for the wrong they did. Many also reflect Naruto as a character. Many wrong turns the hero can take but he stays the path with help of people who charmed to his side with his caring understanding nature. A real showcase of the best of what a person can be. The best of people even Naruto would 100% become a villain if not for those around him. Lot of the villains lost someone or didnt have anyone at a crucial moment that doomed them.
Bit cheesy, a bit idealistic, even dare I say unrealistic but these sort of hopeful characters that show the good of people in a world where everyone is pretty terrible to one another really hits a certain note.
Cool video, but the video effect constantly having the hovering light bars was really fokin annoying.
This was such a beautiful moment. I remember it so vividly, nearly made me cry. Poor Ace
I really hated that they made Terry a clone ( or even related) to Bruce. To me, a big piece of the Batman story is that anyone can take up the cowl. Only one of the Robins is related to Bruce by blood, the rest are just unrelated people that believed as he believed. Bruce was always just a man, not a god, an alien, or a person who gained superhuman powers through some accident. The We Are Robins comic grew on this concept and I thought it was one of the better Batman series in recent years for that reason. They really stole something from Terry by making him being Batman something that was unavoidable, it was genetically preordained.
First off , great video and this is definitely how Batman should be portrayed. I totally agree with everything said in this video, except for one thing, which is that Bruce Wayne had not been the true identity since his parents died. Bruce Wayne was always a playboy, which gave him the means to be able to be Batman. I think Batman himself has the humanity that you are talking about in the video.
Batman is to me supposed to be a stoic. In the positive and compassionate sense where you understand cause and effect. That people are subject to circumstances. And that anyone could end up a slave. Or in more modern circumstances molded into a criminal. The stoic is supposed to attempt to rise above it while not expecting it to be easy or something most people can do. It's not about being a macho self aggrandizing jerk who is standoffish and shuts people out. It's also a philosophy of being analytical trying to see the big picture and understanding human nature. I prefer that Batman over the roid raging depictions you sometimes get.
Tge problem with the compassion portrayal of batman is in modern day it's contradictory to the point of invalidating his very existence.
Sure you can show a crying ace and act like that means all of batmans villains deserve a second chance, but most of vaans Rogues have kill counts in the hundreds and show no sign of stopping
The batman that smashed his adopted son girlfriend and best friend's daughter
I….like to pretend it didn’t happen because it makes me sick to think about
If you don’t imagine batman confronting a kid or killing you don’t want Batman you wana read the punisher
Thank god you reminded me of this Batman I was slowly but surely becoming a Batman hater I just feel like every Batman nowadays feels like he fits better in something like the boys comics just so yucky and hateful now
It's this. It's the idea that Batman cares. He's not Hulu he's not above anyone he is just as much in the shit as any other regular person is. The idea that he is compassionate enough in his future in what we see as now to know that he is failure of the ideology he posited. All he does is continue to protect and continue and basically just perpetuate this cycle of evil coming back from an infinitely powerful source of other evil who uses his evil and the evil spawned there within as resources. He knows that someone like Nightwing is the best version of himself, someone who is truly compassionate that doesn't respond to love with anger or derivement but instead a genuine acceptance of it a compassion that someone like Nightwing only gets from seeing more than just Bruce, from learning from The Flashes being a good person from Clark.
A good Batman is a Batman who cares enough to know he's wrong is compassionate enough to know he's gone too far. Even though it took a lot and it was deeply sad to see in the way in which it affected his character Beyond is a very accurate representation of it. He's someone who knows he failed but in this timeline more than any other because there is no Nightwing there is no one that is the ideal. What we have now in the modern day is a bad man who has it the best he could possibly be because he knows there's someone better. He knows that he's okay with it he is proud of it. That's real compassion. Not just being nice for the sake of making people think you're nice but being nice so that you can make sure that people who are watching you and learning from you learn to be nice because it's the right thing to do. For no return and for no prize. Because it's the nice thing it's the good thing. It's the compassionate thing.

Nice video, but I cannot lie, the over-edited VHS effect is giving me conniptions...
I'm someone who does not like the fact that Terry is the descendant of Batman. The main reason for that is because the series shows that anyone can wear the cowl, and with the proper guidance and tutelage, they can take the mantle of the dark knight. But making Terry into a descendant kinda takes away those achievements, since he's basically a clone its to be expected of him to excel at being a fighter. Though I will give the show credit for how it handled the retcon so I won't be too critical. But that is something I do believe.
came for the video, stayed for the epileptic seizure.
Super heroes are suppose to be symbols of hope, of justice. life is dark and its fine and great to put them in dark stories but a truely great superhero story is ultimately one of hope, no matter how dark, no matter how hopeless, the heroe will always hold out hope and inspire it in others. To me, this is always what my favorite super heroes have ment, and batman as my favorite super hero is the peak of that, a normal man useing everything in him, good and bad to ultimately do good even in a world of literal gods like super man and wonder woman, he stands shoulder to shoulder with them as beaken of hope and justice.
Kevin's Batman is always the batman I think of when I think of batman.
The best representation of batman hope is nightwing
Nightwing mantle is what batman wanted his mantle to be but gotham wasn't that kind of city fear was required justice is a must
Batman TAS is on the shortlist for greatest American animated television program ever.
Dude i was trying to watch a batman video not tear up, im actually in tears i don't know why but i get too emotional watching a sad video or animated movies or just movies in general like Forest Gump, Green Mile, In Pursuit of Happiness, Bridge to Terabithia, ect. but what i mean is just that this is an actual well made video that put and someone put a lot of work and effort into 🥲👍
He is Ruse Bane, and you grossly underestimate Bane's true power and cruelty.
The TAS version of Batman was the premier time when Batman was a Hero. Since then, some have scratched at the surface, but none have even understood what the term "Hero" means.
I really like this rendition of Amanda Waller. Yes, she is brutal and ruthless, but she does try to help her country at the end of the day. Not a hero by any means, but also not a nazi.
This episode of the future is now the past. I'd love to see writing like this again. A scene like that.
Great video, but the flashing colour are quite irritating brother.
