With sincere respect to Loeb & all his amazing accomplishments, IMHO, nothing beats the thrill of seeing Ari Vatanen in the Peugeot 405 T16 climb the Pikes Peak for one more time...
188 bpm at 6:59! I've driven (slowly) up to Col de la Bonette on the french Alps and it's scary as hell. Can't even imagine what it would be flat out on a 900 bhp monster. Holy cojones Mr. Loeb!
Sebastian Loeb Has really proven a Full point. "Hey Im Number 1 On this in the World" Hes got the same Gifts as Senna Schumacher and Prost. Different too but also equalled i blieve. Give him a hand Bless him .
Yes, it was. Acctually Nobuhiro Tajima set the record for the original track in 2007 at 10:01.408, had another close but slower runs in next three years. Than for 2011 one dirt section was paved on top of the hill and he set a new record at 9:51.278. He than moved into electric cars division and with a full tarmac road and Tajima's failure last year, Rhys Millen made his record time (9:46,164), which was broken again this year. You can find Tajima's and Millen's record runs here on RUclips.
Yeah, that's what I thought. Ever seen the clip of the dude running across the road in front of a Quattro Evo 2 on a blind curve? How that guy didn't end up as a fine mist of blood and bone is an absolute miracle.
I was there to witness it and it was incredible. Yes the Peugeot is a beast but Seb is THE MAN ! Congrats to Rhys Millen and Jean Philppe Dayrault who hauled butt as well !
BE IMPRESSED!... Even if you were right that the last section was dirt last year (which it wasn't) that wouldn't account for 1m30s of extra time on the run. Just face it... It is Sebastian Loeb - 9x WRC champion on the bounce! It will take some beating to better that time, the guy is a LEGEND, deal with it!
Nope, the track was fully paved in 2012 already, nothing to do with it. That Peugeot car is a beast and Seb gave it a good drive, that's how the record was done.
The Peugeot ingeniers compute a top lap at 8.15 for the 208 t16, and assume it's the limit. Loeb did 8.13, the 2 seconds at rev limit 241 km/h at 6.43 mean something.
If you look carefully at about 0:47 you can see a guy in a black shirt and dark coloured trousers running from right to left across the track in front of the car.
Really the record wasn't broken for the fact that this years climb the road was fully paved unlike the last fastest where part of the course was dirt so I fail to be impressed with this time being called the new record.
I'm more inclined to believe Michele Mouton (1985 winner of Pikes Peak). She had this to say about Loeb: "On gravel, even with 1000bhp the car was sliding and telling you ‘now be careful’. But now it's all asphalt...with slick tyres and 875bhp, then good luck. Better him [Loeb] than me!”
Edrees Deramos You think the best rally driver in history would mind if the road was not paved? He'd have an even bigger advantage over other drivers if the road was covered in gravel, or even better, snow.
Ya either way the old race was better and being from Colorado I can say this I've been up close to this race and driven on the road there is a big difference after they repaved for a second time in places where the road had potted
What the hell? Its all paved now. This isn't the Pikes Peak Hillclimb I knew growing up. Record doesn't mean anything when the course is essentially just a 20km road course with elevation changes. Apparently no one has heard of the Nurburgring. Don't get me wrong I love Peugeot and Loeb, but this has nothing on the 405 T16 hillclimbs, that was the real deal.
You're definitely right, and "bigsexybastard" as well, I remember the genuine race (on TV, I did not drive it like you), drifting in the dust and sand... was not the same race at all. Even though he broke last year record...I also saw brand new asphalt...but not so much.
Easy? Ah, that may be debatable, but different for sure. I guess one could argue that these technological improvements make the cars faster which in itself raises the difficulty level. But for me (and a shrinking % of other enthusiasts out there), there is a different category of respect given to those who operate with three pedals!
Amazing job by Seb, much respect. However Pikes Peak should have remained gravel. So much of the drama is lost. Now its just a super long P to P circuit instead of a rally stage.
Sebastian don't know at memory the road and push hard just in some straight. Never at the limit. But i can understand he, this climb is terrific and only one error can cost the life. He is a super driver, but is visible that take all the climb in safe. The car is a monster: exceptional power, short gears, great grip... not words. Vathanen with this car...?: probably 10-15 second better.
give the same car to ari vatanen .... next day sebastian will wash the car for him...... not disrespect to sebastian he is the man , but ari was just that mad behind the wheel ...
Awesome video! Great driving from Sebastian Loeb and effort by his entire team!
New record well deserved!
With sincere respect to Loeb & all his amazing accomplishments, IMHO, nothing beats the thrill of seeing Ari Vatanen in the Peugeot 405 T16 climb the Pikes Peak for one more time...
Absolutely dirt road with sheer drops
and gear changing
Ce mec est impressionnant!!! Je l adore.
Continue a nous faire vibrer
Merci loeb

Amazing, awesome. Congratulations Sebastien and Peugeot team.
Record beaten by over a minute and a half!!!! At this level, that's almost unbelievable. Seb still rules...
wow good attention to detail. wouldn't even have noticed without you pointing it out. 188 bpm is crazy!
Sebastian Loeb Has really proven a Full point. "Hey Im Number 1 On this in the World" Hes got the same Gifts as Senna Schumacher and Prost. Different too but also equalled i blieve. Give him a hand Bless him .
Chapeaux bas Mr Loeb et la team Peugeot . Bravo
Well done! Finally another french car breaking a new world record driven also by a superb french driver!
Yes, it was.

Great video! All I can think of is "Who's going to beat this and in WHAT!?!?" Cannot wait until next year, camping up there for sure!
Mesmerizing... Trully Magical.
Well done.
one of the fastest man alive. good job Loeb. you're a maniac!
Yeah, that's what I thought. Ever seen the clip of the dude running across the road in front of a Quattro Evo 2 on a blind curve? How that guy didn't end up as a fine mist of blood and bone is an absolute miracle.
I wonder who and when this record will be broken if at all. Seb ftw!! He's really the best driver in the world!
I was there to witness it and it was incredible. Yes the Peugeot is a beast but Seb is THE MAN ! Congrats to Rhys Millen and Jean Philppe Dayrault who hauled butt as well !
Smashed the record!
minjo79 : great job! thanks you for the information mate!
Mind blowing.
I imagine being a passenger with Loeb would guarantee one of two things.....crapped pants or a heart attack!
when will pikes peak return. this is brilliant.
Magnifique
Que Arrecho ese Carajo, el mejor Piloto del Mundo sin duda.
Peugeot et Loeb...un excellent duo francais tout comme avec Citroen pour le WRC...
Exactly asphalt record. In 1995 he Suzuki posted 7 minutes and 53 seconds and the Ford RS2000E
That's why Vatanen said once "he is the best driver ever"I 'm getting fed up with those stupid comments
Incroyable, bravo Sébastien! J'aurai été dans la voiture avec lui, je me serai chié.
la classe ....
Holly Shit!!!

We are not talking about seconds, we are talking about more than a minute... that's a lot ! Sebastien Loeb rules, and 208 T16 as well.
I saw that as well! It looked like something out of the Group B era! Lol
If you look carefully at about 0:47 you can see a guy in a black shirt and dark coloured trousers running from right to left across the track in front of the car.
Holy Shit!! Please put this into Gran Turismo 6!
Bravo à LOEB et Bravo à PEUGEOT Sport.
Made in FRANCE.
Now that`s hillclimbing ! Fucking hell !!!
Top D+
That guy better have a badass video to put up here, 'cause you don't do that on the Peak!
So are they going to bring F1 cars next year since its fully paved?
le mans up a mountain.wow.
SOUND SYNC FIXED!
Check video description for new link. Thanks.
Really the record wasn't broken for the fact that this years climb the road was fully paved unlike the last fastest where part of the course was dirt so I fail to be impressed with this time being called the new record.
I liked the old track. This is just a road race now.
But was the reacord broken last year and then again this year?
The only reason he beat the record is that they Fully Paved Pikes Peak. So it was A LOT easier
rhys millen also ran the same fully paved road that year and he was still second to loeb.
yes paved road makes it so much easier. Watch climb dance and see how hard Pikes Peak was back in the day
I'm more inclined to believe Michele Mouton (1985 winner of Pikes Peak).
He'd have an even bigger advantage over other drivers if the road was covered in gravel, or even better, snow.
have you ever driven on it? it's still shit inducing scary even going the speed limit.
Ya either way the old race was better and being from Colorado I can say this I've been up close to this race and driven on the road there is a big difference after they repaved for a second time in places where the road had potted
Give Ari Vatanen even Michelle Mouton or Walter Rohrl the Peugeot 208 T16 and lets see what will happen. Nothing beats DIRT.
What the hell? Its all paved now. This isn't the Pikes Peak Hillclimb I knew growing up. Record doesn't mean anything when the course is essentially just a 20km road course with elevation changes. This is nothing when you compare it to what Ari did!
They ruined it when they paved it. Dirt is for racing, asphalt is for gettin' there.
Wtf is the guy doing there at 00:47 ?
Yes, it is a bit, but not my fault. Peugeot guys got it wrong. :)
Easy? Ah, that may be debatable, but different for sure. I guess one could argue that these technological improvements make the cars faster which in itself raises the difficulty level. But for me (and a shrinking % of other enthusiasts out there), there is a different category of respect given to those who operate with three pedals!
french power!!!
Antes de que comenzara la prueba ya sabia yo que Loeb iba a pulverizar todos los records.
Amazing job by Seb, much respect. However Pikes Peak should have remained gravel. So much of the drama is lost. Now its just a super long P to P circuit instead of a rally stage.
the peugeot is fast as a f1 car but i think loeb did not give 100% he could go faster with more risk. great driver great car
an amazing drive by Loeb but still not as good as watching Monster Tajima's run up the hill when there were some dirt sections
241kph at 6:50.
7:01 188 bpm??? :O :O :O Holy Shit!!!!
Sebastian don't know at memory the road and push hard just in some straight. Never at the limit. But i can understand he, this climb is terrific and only one error can cost the life. 6:49 188bpm :))
hey Rhys Millen when you have to race against super seb loeb again BRING KRYPTONITE
he beat millen by 40 seconds on the same track..
I take it you have never driven this road so you may think what ever you like doesn't make you right though.
You don't own anything? You poor soul
And 6th gear looks too short... The engine could push for 7th, 8th and 9th gears if available...
6:49 xD
give the same car to ari vatanen .... next day sebastian will wash the car for him...... not disrespect to sebastian he is the man , but ari was just that mad behind the wheel ...
french car ,french pilot....laissez tomber les burgers...vous savez pas faire ... lol
It was fully paved last year as well so your argument is not valid.
Keep failing to be impressed.
Why did they pave it all no fun
the last record was already on full pavement. So get or facts right. Loeb smoked everyone by miles, get over that. ;)
sounds out of sync
Am I the only one who thinks that all of the wings, electronics, and loser flappy paddle gearboxes has made it all a bit too easy?
Loeb could go much faster
at 0:47 a brainless idiot in the middle of the road was going to ruin everything ..
sur goudron c plus facile. Le meilleur Ari.
All right.
I will go ahead and say it.
Why are all the data in measurements other than those used in the US
The race is here, try old English.......
