The WRC is the FIA World Rally Championship, a tough motorsport using rally cars on real roads around the world. Watch the best rally drivers battle on gravel and asphalt roads with mud, rain, dust, ice and heat! Watch high speed action as the rally drivers power slide and drift round narrow corners, go flat out over a big jump or through a watersplash, handbrake turn round a hairpin, survive a big moment, or have a massive crash! Rally requires maximum attack and careful tactics to become world rally champion.
Each rally has timed sections called special stages, on closed roads. Drivers complete these stages as quickly as possible. A co-driver reads pace notes that explain the hazards ahead. Rally drivers use the same rally car to travel to each stage on public roads, following normal traffic regulations. The crew which completes all the stages in the shortest time is the rally winner. Championship points are won using the same scoring system as Formula 1. The championship is administered by Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.
Over 30 countries have hosted WRC rallies. Rally Monte Carlo, Rally Argentina, Rally Finland, Rally Portugal, Tour de Corse on Corsica, France, Rally Sardegna on Sardinia, Italy, Safari Rally in Kenya, Acropolis Rally in Greece, Rally New Zealand, Rally Australia, Rally Japan, Rally GB, Rally Catalunya, Rallye Deutschland, Rally Mexico and many more.
Some of the world's greatest drivers have won the FIA World Rally Championship for Drivers, like Colin McRae, Carlos Sainz, Walter Röhrl, Stig Blomqvist, Petter Solberg, Ott Tänak. The list of world rally champions includes many Finnish rally drivers like Juha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen, Ari Vatanen, Marcus Grönholm, Hannu Mikkola. French drivers have had success with Sébastien Ogier, and 9 times world champion Sébastien Loeb. Famous drivers from other motorsports have come to try rally driving like Ken Block from Rallycross, and Robert Kubica and Kimi Räikkönen from F1.
Car companies compete for the prestigious FIA World Rally Championship for Manufacturers awarded to the most successful WRC constructor. Winners include Citroen, Hyundai, Volkswagen and Peugeot. Ford have had success with the Ford Escort, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta when the M-Sport team won in 2017.
The 1980's featured the iconic Group B rally cars like the Lancia 037 and Delta S4, Peugeot 205 T16, MG Metro 6R4, Ford RS200 and Audi Quattro.
Japan dominated the 1990s with the Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Toyota Celica and Toyota Corolla. Toyota returned to the WRC in 2017 with the Toyota Yaris WRC, winning in 2018. The 2019 championship was won by Hyundai with the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Find out about the latest winners and champions at www.wrc.com - Спорт

F1: "jeez that Monaco circuit is crazy, so many tight turns and narrow streets"
WRC: "hold my Pinot noir"
Selim Sultan Akbar But it’s also a car made for the wide and fast roads of Finland; just shows how amazingly adaptable both rally cars and drivers are.
@Selim Sultan Akbar but the F1 cars are made for the monaco circuit...
@@jamesmccann5644 No
@@jamesmccann5644 Monaco is literally one of the worse tracks in terms of overtaking considering how the circuit is practically an oversized go cart track,
@Selim Sultan Akbar Rallying is as varying as no other form of motorsport, so "made for this kind of track" is completely wrong. On the other hand, all circuits are pretty much the same and Monaco is no special to other circuit other than on the narrowness, so an F1 car can be quite well set up for a specific track. That's why F1 cars run perfectly well in Monaco as they do anywhere else. "But F1 cars double the speeds of WRC cars" - well: ruclips.net/video/f76r6TAhNv4/видео.html
Say what you want, rally drivers are the best skilled drivers in the world.
AND rally cars man 👍👌
Every single categories has their own set of challenges. Let's say rally drivers has the most challenges to face.
I can not hear it anymore... It's so stupid to say this. It's like you would say, Tennis players are the best skilled ball players in the world. It just doesn't make sense. You simply can not compare different types of sports with completely different rules, cars and tracks...
@@laubry Yes
@@laubry Incorrect, Rally is the most difficult type of racing, which means it requires the most skill.
If tennis had to be played on a cliff in the snow and they had to land the balls in holes barely bigger than the ball itself, then it would require more skill than any other ball players in the world.
What's incredible about Loeb is how he manages to tame such random and varied courses like this with smooth inputs and precise lines. Almost every one of these crazy corners is taken with one brake input, one smooth steering movement, onto one throttle input, resulting in the straightest possible line. No seat of the pants, just skill and commitment.
CNCTEMATIC very nice comment here !
Thought the same! I was tkinking that I am watching Circuit sprint, just on the open road :)
That's kinda why I loved watching incar cams of Colin Mcrae. He fought the car through turns. Loeb's control and feel for how his car responds to his movements is supernatural. Its almost artistic. Like poetry in motion. He is very smooth. The guy is a freak.
Some of the crazy positions Colin put his cars in was something to behold as well though. I miss that guy.
Take surface in consideration. You cannot make Scandinavian slick because it's tarmac, and you cannot go like ken block either because time matters. So you gotta make it smooth. Colin videos mostly are on gravelish type of surface so he has to maintain direction by steering constantly (while throttling at finest).
cmon man theres a reason F1 is not allowing him to race there 🤣, they scared 😈 of this guy
Loeb/Elena - easily one of the most dominant dynasties in all of sports.
sshh
OOF THIS AGED BADLY
@@lukeario3980 what do you mean?
I don't think you know what a dynasty is

Mad respect for Elena too, i cant even be on my phone when i'm in a car as a passenger before having a headacke ^^ but the guy is focus on his paper even when during massive bumps and of course props to loeb for driving the car like its on a railtrack
Elena had a perfect diction and was very calm (I am french).
He insist on the first syllable of each words and never change his tone.
Just being the voice and trust at 100 % the pilot .
He knew his job for sure.
I make correction , sometimes he puts "," inseting on "o".
He is strange to listen , but for sure they have a good reason for that.
I took many wrong turns behind my monitor. :)
🤣🤣🤣 Me too
Lol
I'm out 30s after starting.
Haha also me
i crashed at first turn.
Badass... Nothing beats an In-car rally vid unless you're actually IN the car ;)
Loeb is such a great driver. If I didn't know what these cars were capable of I'd think it was sped up to look faster... Rally truly is the greatest form of Auto-racing hands down... Nothing else compares in my eyes.
@FluffY PenguiN two years late , but that's why rally is fun and thrilling...it's the randomness the views and the skill.

@@maximilianwerner4029 absolutely, it's beautiful, thrilling, dangerous. quick too bad the closest thing for me to experience it is videogames. also cheers for the reply .
F1 formula tracks are controlled from Point A to Z. That's safe but boy, is it boring to watch... Whereas with rally races, anything and everything might take place, adding to the thrill of this type of motor racing. Plus, the landscapes keep changing, adding to the beauty of it all. Rally races are the ultimate motor sports, in my view.
@@fr-tigerfangs7039 I knew really would be my favorite Motorsport to watch when I watched someone forced to use cows as a chicane during one of the safari rally and he didn’t hit any of them at all. No clue who it was, but it was fucking hilarious, skillful, and astounding all at once 😂
Loeb is the GOAT, it’s a real pleasure watching his stages with onboard camera.

Loeb is a magnificent rally driver, the best ever, but let's not forget the superb road handling capability of the DS3, which seems to turn flat, never flinches, never falters, sticks to the road in all conditions. It's an incredibly stable platform, impeccably fitted, from birth, for rally. The Loeb/DS3 combination is the ultimate winning machine...

Walter Röhrl, Ari Vatanen, Stig Blomqvist, Björn Waldegard...? Whole different story today and back then. Loeb is crazy, but not "the best pilot of all time"
+staticdynamic he is right... he is the best, at least in rallying terms. he is 9 times world champion!
δ
No, he is not "right". It´s and opinion. No more no less.

Vatanen was legend, altough i like Sebastian more.. well also because hes french maybe :)
No one will see this, but what the hell. That is an astounding display of skill. Rally is the king of motor sport. It's the only one where you tip a car on its roof, have the spectators put it back on its wheels and then carry on. And seriously, just watch what he's doing on an unpredictable surface.
This is some of the best driving I have ever seen and I have been watching global motor sports for 40+ years. Not that I think I'm an expert. But wow. This is extraordinary. Each time I thought he was going one way... he went the other way. Exceptional car control. People who do this should be celebrated. Many people who think they can drive... actually can't drive.
And here I am too scared to push this hard on a sim!! Nevermind risking actual life and limb.
These guys are incredible. In my opinion, THE best pure drivers of any motorsport.
those downshifts sound brutal 🤘
Loeb is a legend 👍
Man, that is one tough gear box. Can you imagine the science and engineering involved to make a trans last through that kind of punishment?
I guess it's not very different from a regular one, they just don't expect it to last 100k km, just the stage

Easy to know why he was the most victorious driver.
Loeb: "Can't see the road!" Spectators: "Here, these camera flashes Should help!" Jeez.
Loeb forgot something called headlights
I wondered the same. OK, the camera might have caught less light than a human's eye would - but flashlight photos in this situation are beyond idiotic 😳
I love this onboard from Sebastian Loeb although its like 7 years ago now...
Eh even 7 years ago it still looks fine, mostly
This is Nirvana for me personally...the elegance of driving style coupled with sheer bravery... 🐐
Best driver of all time imo. So calm behind the wheel and rarely mis-places the car. 👌
LOEB is by far the GOAT no doubt , 10 championships in a row, how about that, loved that period early 2000

VIVE SEB LOEB
This is just my personal opinion but I think there's three main reasons behind Loeb's domination :
- Natural talent : He his undeniably one of the most talented rally driver ever. Yet he was competing against incredible drivers such as Mäkinen, McRae, Sainz, Solberg, Grönholm and lot more I'm shamefully forgetting. And even in this incredible era he managed to be come out on top.
- Dedication : He is a hard worker, constantly training and mentally preparing his races in order to be able to push a bit more than everyone else.
- He's part of great team : Elena is easily one of the best co-driver of its time ans the alchemy between those two have evolved over time to become really unique and efficient. The entire staff of the Citroën Racing team is top notch. Leob could not have reached his full potential without each of thoses guys behind him doing an excellent job.
This guy turning rally race into something easy and very safe 😯

Really impressive. That driving has such laser-sharp control that the car looks like it's on rails lol.
I've always loved motorsport, but it's only since I recently started SimRacing that I got to realize just _how_ _hard_ racing cars are to control - no matter which category.
This is both humbling and _freaking_ _awe-inspiring_ and I thank you for that.
The best in history!
Co driver is a fcking hard job
Jackie Stewart says the secret to driving fast is to NEVER push the throttle down until you are 100% sure you can. He says most drivers lose time because they are impatient and want to get on the throttle too early, then have to lift again, re-steer the car back on line and get wheelspin/sliding.
I mention this because Loeb is one of the greatest practitioners of that technique you will ever see. He brakes early and off to keep car balance, "rolls" through the corner (not literally of course, some acceleration must be maintained to overcome tyre scrub and aero drag, it's just a term), and only pushes the throttle down once.
Go incar with other drivers and compare to this, they are jerky, hesitations, lots of steering input, often lift off the throttle because they tried too early.
J'habite à l'ungersberg, quand je le vois passer à cette vitesse dans la forêt que je parcours depuis mon enfance je suis sur le cul ahah bravo seb
Rally is just a nice pleasant drive through the countryside, as fast as humanly possible.
Those pace notes must be amazing
What a track... perfection... Loeb make it so easy and smooth
Beautiful road,beautiful village, beautiful landscape
if someone is interested: did the mafs. he drives an average of about 100km/h. most on cart tracks. with bumps. without any side space. and curves. many, narrow curves. WTF
Magnifique, superb precision!
No Words... Never see nothing like this. 👏💣
I don't think there is, any doubt that Loeb is the best ever.. Better than any of the Fins.
I remember he competed once in rally Ireland In stages in Donegal and he absolutely blew away the field in what would of been his first ever time there. Ok he had the best Car from a top works team in Citroën. But he was competing against Irish guys who's Cars were not that much slower along a route that the local competitors knew like the back of their hands. He just simply blew them away. Absolutely unbelievable driver.
Toujours impressionnant la vitesse sur ces routes étroites chez Loeb en Alsace 😎🎩👍

El mejor de todos los tiempos, en asfalto insuperable. Grande Loeb.
Cleaver driving, always neat and tidy. At the start just fast enough to get temp. in the tyres, then just a bit quicker when everything is warm. Not over reving the engine not hard on the brakes or sudden steering inputs. Not balls out like Panizzi (who could crash at any second, and if he didn't, your left wondered how he didn't). Easy to see how he won so much.
What a drive, and ooooh that gearbox.!!😙
