You can hear in Destin voice he doesn't really like it but can't admit it.
Destin all fair criticism. They pushed the visuals hard but not much else.
To me everything about Hellblade 2 is better than the first one & both are in my top 5 favorite games of all time..
@@504Trey you should play more games
@@504TreyBro you played like 2 games in your lifetime this game being the 2nd one. No wonder its in your top 5.
@@504TreyI’m not going to make fun of you or dismiss your feelings like the other comments, but how can you say the sequel is better? Graphically yes, it looks amazing, but the combat, puzzles and exploration had more depth in the first game. It’s not me debating you either, it’s just a fact. You can like 2 better, but you have to admit they toned down every aspect of gameplay.
Combat is better doe...its more intense..her staggering after a big hit looks great@@drgonzo123
There's irony in mentioning consolidation.
Where is all the articles about ign consolidation and layoffs ?
they probably laid off the people that was gonna write them
@@Sleepgarden😂
Hypocrites
Thr criticism is fair of Hellblade 2. Fans waited along time for that
Yupppp
Supposedly Ninja theory was bought to deliver a Better game knowing they got more devs and more money and yet after so many years just 5 hours for a graphic quality tech demo, Not a game.
4:30 You're right, a great game does not have to be 50 hours long, but for $70 (AUD) it should be longer than 5 or 6. Not everyone gets free review copies.
Its 40$, so they did discount for length and IMO you could play multiple times because the game is amazing.
@@KingTraut $40? You must be talking in USD, I'm talking in AUD, and while the price has been discounted to reflect a shorter game, in my currency from $110 to $70, it's still not value for money, just like The Order: 1886 wasn't.
@@KingTraut its amazing in a rewatchable movie sense, but as an interactive game is barely playable the first time around. I've not seen one descriptive reason why people love it so much outside of the graphics and pretty predictable storyline.
Its interesting both hellblade 1 and 2 have the exact same metacritic score 81.
its like those parts in games where a character is hurt and they make you walk slow, except the game is just that.
What if she's really hurt? Living in really hurtful times?
Hurts to play this game…
Not gonna lie you did not sell me on playing this "exclusive"
How many gaming sites will IGN close and how many people will lose their jobs because of redundancy? Remember when they bought 1up and then closed it down and fired everyone. It's what IGN does.
No wonder ign glazes microsoft and x box so much then...
Saying IGN is laying off and consolidating other sites won't drive clicks. Slamming Microsoft and Xbox will
Wish they would have let off the gas just alittle on the graphics and actually added more content or depth
Disagree
More content definitely needed. Shallow game. But it's pretty lol
Excited to jump into Hellblade 2!
The hate on Hellblade 2 reminds me of when Death Stranding came out. Relax 🛀. There’s thousands of other games to play. Ones that fit your wants and needs
No. Order 1886. This game makes death stranding look fun lol
Dudes thought this game was a Last of us competitor or something. They think a 80 ppl team could make a aaa game
@iftycent8 I'm on my 2nd attempt of death stranding and HellBlade 2 is way more enjoyable
Gamers really do have unrealistic expectations. It’s a niche game. Who cares. Shouldn’t really surprise anyone since the first one was also a niche game .
@@pmac206it doesn’t. Everyone is just playing dumb.
its kinda telling when teh main topic of the show only takes up 20 mintues
There is absolutely no way COD will be on gamepass without price increases same goes with WOW there is just no way in hell
If you look at where cod is purchased then Xbox is the lowest percentage . Pc and PS5 is where it sells . It will continue to sell on those platforms regardless
@@thatseasyforyoutosay and the switch 2
48:40 This is wrong, Tears of the Kingdom was indeed delayed. It was originally announced with a generic 2022 release year but Nintendo wanted a few more months to polish the game so they delayed it to May 2023.
So tired of hell themed, dark, scary Xbox games. Give me a AAA game that is actually uplifting
They bought Activision but lost the studio that made Crash 4, the best 3d platformer ever :(
Sea of Thieves? Grounded?
@@stuartbagley2586 fables on its way. Forza horizon 5. And those crash games xbox owns the ips so those games are on their way to gamepass
Fable should fit that description when we eventually get it.
Just a question. They closed tango studios a small studio game with Hi-Fi rush a critically acclaimed game 87 Metacritic. Xboxs best game of last year
Hellblade 82 Metacritic snall studio but have apparently have been greenlighted to make another game
Makes no sense especially with current numbers on steam.....
1,101 players right now
2,6822 4-hour peak
3,982 all-time peak 2 days
That ain't great..
Steam is probably the least reliable source of information for Microsoft and XBOX games considering PC Gamepass exists along with console cross play and cross progression. Steam is for the diehards who refused to have another launcher.
Just speculation, but I'd imagine part of Ninja Theory's value to MS right now is the technical chops they've shown as it relates to Unreal Engine 5.
@@stuartbagley2586 they losee money on gamepass games, people buyong on steam are like the only revenue they are getting from the game
@@stuartbagley2586 Least reliable for a player base that's the least console biased and who actually invested in a purchase of the game. It's funny how that argument flips when a game actually makes a critical impact in sales on the service and Steam is then used as a gauge for success. That argument is old as it is weak. Steam is hosting a 4yr+ old game from Sony with 39k concurrent players (GoTsushima), while this masterpiece currently sits at a little over 1k players.
Even redfall having more players.
The fact that they haven’t played the first one bothers me 😂😂😂 whatttttttt
seriously... a podcast about hellblade 2 and the members didnt play or didnt finish it. Just drop them for that episode and have other genuine members.. how hard is this.
It's insane that GTA V came out on Xbox 360 and PS3, we went through the entire Xbox One and PS4 generation without a new GTA, and now we're going to be a whopping 5 years into Xbox Series and PS5 until we are supposed to get the sequel to GTA V.
The combat was a big step back compared to the original. Also what is the point of a combat difficulty slider if it does not make the difficulty harder .
Ryan saying he'd give it a 7/10
Ouchy... its really not what people wanted or expected.
That's about what it is for me, maybe even a 6 honestly, but that's a legitimate 6 where I'd still recommend it to people and not the modern day "6 is unplayable" interpretation.
To say he give the game 7 shows he never cared for game and saying you beat the game in just 5 hours you should just kept that to yourself
@@shaunsamson830 Yes, we would should keep the facts to ourselves. Can't be telling the truth about games now can we? Jesus..
He has not beat it yet. Maybe let him speak for 20 more seconds.@@shaunsamson830
It is amazing to see that this podcast length is 1/3rd of entire Hellblade 2's length.
Why does Destin spoil every game he talks about?? Every single time.
Why are we talking about hellblade when 1 panel member has finished it and one halfway through and the other not played it?
Hellblade 2..... disappointed me 😕6.5/10
51:35 GTA 5 sold 25 million copies each on the PS3 and 360. Just phenomenal numbers. Myself not a fan of the GTA games but one cannot deny the success.😊
Man, the discussion of Hellblade felt very much like a “damning with faint praise” situation :\
Thank you Destin for talking about the things where everyone else wants to sweep under the rug!
Man, Destin is so salty today. 😊
Love the passion and thoughtfulness, but be happy with the wins we get!
That game is not a win.
Ninja Theory should've thrown some unnecessary nudity into the game. Spice things up a bit🤭
its an experience, not a game. and its pretty godlike.
Let’s hope Stella’s cats don’t have sneeze disease 😢
Didnt like the first hellblade and after hearing about 2 its just more of the same puzzles . Ill pass. Graphics are not everything. How much gamplay is there minus cut scenes? 2-3 hours?
Just going to watch the cutscenes on RUclips.
For me it's a 9/10 experience, but a 7/10 videogame :/
Well said
Hellblade 2 sounds like the ideal Gamepass game. Download it in-between games, or to fill in a weekend, etc.
Absolutely loved Hellblade 2. The audio visual with incredibly smooth transitions between combat and gameplay is stellar! If you liked the first Hellblade you will LOVE this!
Hellblade 2 is fantastic so far. Love it a ton. It actually looks great on my 2009 Mac Pro. Kudos.
Isn’t it amazing how the sequel has even less gameplay depth than the first one?
You should check El Shaddai game. Is a one button smash game and received a 9.
@@ETERNALSHADDAIel shaddai didn’t take 7 years to make.
The Borderlands movie is going to bomb😂
The trailer looked fun. Why do you think it's gonna bomb?
@@eric7591Art is subjective and we all have our own preferences. But you are genuinely the first person I've seen say that about the trailer.
Should put Goggins init.. he makes everything better.
Why is that funny?
Critique what needs to be critiqued. If the forced enthusiasm and output is what you're happy with, then so be it.
Lmaooo why even have Stella on this one
At 5:35 yes all you have to do is turn the difficulty up 😂
Jez said it's a new IP...
For a Gamepass game Hellblade 2 is an awesome experience, as a 50$ release is definitely not worth it
Agreed. It almost is made with game pass in mind with the ability to purchase if you want. We all know this game will eventually be under $20 on sale eventually. My guess it will go to PlayStation at that point too at full price.
The Order 1886
Sorry but yet another Xbox exclusive no one will talk about in 2 months.
+1 for Duke Nukem! One of the first games Ive ever played!
Disappointed to hear how shallow Hellblade 2 is. It sounds like one of those "Dark Pictures Anthology" games which are a little more like a playable movie than a pure video game. Graphics look great but that's about it.
It's a great game 🎮.
lol
I’m not into GTA, never have been. There are others out there too, but there are millions who like it so it will sell a ton
It's a really really fun and great game series, started on PlayStation and really took center stage with GTA 3 on PS2, now GTA 6 is being developed with PS5 as the lead platform. (8
Its kinda a one trick game, online is toxic and unplayable for new players. I've bought it, and regret it and will never buy another one.
Hell blade review discussion.... Stela hast played, Destin is halfway through.... awsome production value IGN
Why so many cut aways in the video ?
One thing that most people are not considering:
Activision (so Xbox) opening a new studio while closing others is perfect timing and perfect strategy. This is because the major studios that closed were in the pitching phase. But they generally do not produce highly profitable gaming. In the meanwhile, Sony is dominating due to story-driven action-adventure games. Before concluding, the last piece of the puzzle is that with so many people getting fired over the last two years, it's the perfect time to gather amazing talent under a new studio.
Conclusion: Closing those studios that are not so profitable and opening another one while some of the best talent is looking for work is perfect timing for a business trying to align its strategy with the dominant Sony, all the while they have profitable franchises that deviate from it (Doom, Elder Scrolls, Psychonauts 2, etc).
You forgot to mention, however, that the mentioned non-profitability of the closed companies was hugely due to the poor marketing or the lack of it carried out by Xbox themselves. So no, not quite strategic to take losses where there could be wins, and open another risky AAA-studio when there could be a potential hit such as Hi-Fi Rush 2.
A glorified tech demo that should have gotten the same score as The Order 1886...but somehow scored in the low 80s...Overrated, objectively, just like Starfield, Halo Infinite and Forza Motorsport 8 were at launch...but apparently underrated and having suffered from a Xbox tsx, according to some...😂
The Order 1886 is the better game by a lot
great gamepass game, absolutely must experience and put away forever.
Xbox Cod sales are like 8%, I think. Is that a huge hit? Especially with the plan to bring it to Nintendo.
What about pc gamepass?
@@dnhofer no different than console gamepass. They will still get sales from the millions of PC users who use steam or other platform launchers.
LOVED brothers in arms
Has anyone at IGN done any research on what limitations, if any, MS has on releasing Activision games on Gamepass? There could be licensing issues, legal issues. Who knows?
Bring back Miranda
It's tanking on Steam because it's not worth $50.00.
It started out at $50 my manz
Listening to you, you want Hellblade to be a mainstream open world game with exploration and skill trees.Sad.
Players have become completely conditioned to a certain type of game that they compare everything they play with these few games, they no longer know how to appreciate a game for what it is, what it offers.
Everybody wants every game to basically be ubisoft smh
@@superbadisfunmyAnd then complain about the Ubisoft formula and long games.
Lots of xbox haters in these comments and they will claim theyre not
Everyone is talking about how “easy” the game is it starts you off on dynamic difficulty go to settings and change it
It's crazy how people now calling it a simulator when the first hellblade plays the same exact way😀 if you like the first you should like the second one.
54:45 maybe thats the year COD takes a break.😅
Extremely disappointing game
Another dissapointing Xbox game, this has become quite embarassing.
If this Xbox make small games for less play what’s the future for other games like halo gears of war or other games it’s not worth for any awards and they forgot the tier increase of game pass and what prices
Second for Duke Nukem!
7 years to make a game of 5 hr😂
Hellblade 2 masterpiece visuals, master piece of sh*t gameplay.
Spiderman Miles Morales did the in game re-cap long before double fine did. Just for the record
Xbox is an absolute shambles at the moment. 15 years of consistent disappointment.
Had a SX sat here day one, thing has only been on for 70hrs in total.
What a joke!
Why did you buy it then? 15 years and still not learnt...blame is not theirs in your case
IGN Xbots FTW!
This podcast is longer than the gameplay portion of hellblade 2
There are a few reviewers out there who actually appreciate what this game is....not here at IGN however.
They gave it an 8
@@1224taylorwhich is totally fair score IMO.
Techblade🤣🤣🤣🤣.
How Ryan is defending the game length is pathetic 😊
Microsoft fires Tango and Arkane then is looking for people for new studio
Make it make sense.
That’s why the game should only have one difficulty. Hard is much more rewarding for combat, at least.
But...there is a recap at the beginning of the game!
A great game does need to be bigger. At the end of the day you spend $50+ on something that entertains you for a few hours. You guys may not care but some of us do.
A game literally doesn't need to be bigger. That's subjective thinking which is okay tho.
Bring duke nukem back!!!
Would love a remake with unreal engine 5 graphics!
Its a 1 playthru long drawn-out boring game. The visual experience is great, the limited action is intense bc of the limited play...but 3hrs of watching in a 5hr game ..makes it less appealing than any telltale game.
Daaaamn
It a great game , Your boring with your take on the game. SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY WHAT THE GAME IT IS.
Tell us you didn't play the game without telling us you haven't played the game. There's no 3 hours of cutscenes LMAO
What a cap. The game definitely has replayed value if you made it to the end of the story which I'm betting you didn't. Plus they're collectibles you can miss.
Hellblade 2 is such a bad game that these guys spend 5 minutes praising it for having a story recap of the previous game...

This game was a show case for Unreal and the talent of Ninja Theory... This is what Xbox wanted, a game that set a standard... Not the best game looking on Xbox but the best looking game on anything that can play this... The Collation has a new bar to clear
Geezus, 20+ minutes in and you don’t even get Stella’s take.
