Jason's books are the ones gamers need to read to understand what game development is actually like. Too many naive gamers ask for the world without understanding who their words effect or how QA or certification work, if they know they exist at all. I'm finishing up Press Reset from Jason now. I'm excited to get my hands on the Blizzard book!
She never plays any of the games being discussed, so it doesn't surprise me at all that she didn't read the book or attempt it before this weeks episode!
Other IGN podcasts hit earlier than usual this week but they seemed short and rushed. No disrespect to those earlier shows but happy to listen to Unlocked giving us a lengthy and polished episode
They just had the Tokyo Gameshow Showcase. Thought we would have had a show on that considering how much the Team moans about Microsoft ignoring Japan.
Ubisoft really only made one bad game whatever that pirate game was but the Star Wars game wasn’t bad if you patched the game, it can be an 8.5 maybea 9.0. The avatar game wasn’t bad either. That was a solid 8.0. Prince of Persia everybody said that game was great 9.0 but it didn’t sell. Remember how many people said we want more traditional games guess what they got them and they didn’t buy them. so what is UB? Don’t look at their sales look at every other publisher and look at house sales aren’t so great for everybody. Of course you are Fortnite or any of those other games as a service models that are really eating everybody’s lunch.
You guys don’t need to talk financing those investors don’t know what they’re talking about. If they made a rainbow six game or a splinter cell game creating modern games with all the flashy graphics and such cost big money $200 million or more how many copies do they need to sell to break even $70 price point. You need to sell 3 million copies to break even. That’s assuming the game cost $210 million to make but it could cost more then you still need to turn a profit enough to be able to produce your next game so you need to sell another 3 million copies on top of whatever it cost you to break even. Now you see the problem companies are having a hard time selling so many games to cover the cost to breakeven. You used to have to sell fewer games to break even therefore more of your revenue into profit after all expenses were deducted now it is difficult and that is putting it lightly. To me if you’re going to talk Finance and stock prices, please bring an expert on the show. Don’t just look up your Robinhood account to see what the value of the stock is pull the real financial data if you’re going to discuss Finance.
Thank you, Destin, for not interrupting or otherwise trying to hijack the interview as you are so often guilty of. You actually just let Ryan interview the guest. Very refreshing. And Stella had no buisness being on this show, she didn't even read Jason's book, at least she had the common decency to keep her mouth shut.

Thanks to the internet, everyone thinks they are an expert and know how to run a multimillion dollar development studio.
Just realized Unlocked #666 falls on All Hallows Eve feels like A Diablo episode would be a nice fit
Doom dark ages?
@LuisCastillo-tg6xw yeah that'd be cool too far away unfortunately for any deep coverage but that would be awesome
Please ....no....PRETTY PLEASE!! Bring back time stamps for your videos.
Love that your podcast are being a bit longer 👏🏻
Stella really should have read the book if she was going to be on this episode.
It was painful to listen to
She never plays any of the games being discussed, so it doesn't surprise me at all that she didn't read the book or attempt it before this weeks episode!
Yeah, unfortunately she always looks lost in most all the conversations. Makes me think she only plays videogames for work
to be honest whenever she talks about anything she sounds like she didn't do any research and sounds clueless
Stella looked superbored

Great guest.
Should high caliber guest on like this more often.
...considering nothing is going on with xbox anyways. 🤷

Stella is not a fan of Jason 😬
Now it makes complete sense while Microsoft laid off so many people after the ABK deal

Yeah baby! Jason’s the man! Triple Click FTW!
holy testosterone disparity in the beginning.

If anyone from IGN reads this, please fix the website. It’s unusable on my iPhone, with constant crashing and reloads.
Great episode with Jason! I've read his other books and really enjoyed them. One note is that the amount of ads on the audio version is ridiculous.
Great episode! Looking forward to reading the book.
Honestly, might be the worst Unlocked episode.
it's called a narcissist personality
A lot of salty people in the comments today. Great show as always, guys.
Definitely going to get the audiobook. Next one should be about EA and Bioware...
His next book in a few years will be titled: “The Rise and Fall of IGN” 😂😂😂
What are you even doing here?
@@SerialBitBanger so many of these losers here bemoaning every single thing IGN does, can you imagine a sadder life? 😂
Most popular video game website for 20+ years.......
.....doing fine.
People been praying on IGN’s downfall sense 2014 and they’ve only gotten bigger as a company 😂.
The irony of posting this on one of their channels vids...
he sounds like he's 3 feet tall
Jason Schreier sounds like the kind of guy who would apologize to his wife if she cheated on him.
Great comment, PMSL

Jason's a legend he broke the news about Rockstar announcing GTA VI last year, hopeful for more news soon!
Microsoft is going to buy Ubisoft
really interesting

Be careful what you wish for when it comes to unions. Believe me.
sup😁😁
Hard pass. Dude blocked me for nothing, won't give him my time here.
he's a typical small hat, loves to dish it out but can't take it
Probably also, he feels powerful behind the keyboard, but won’t be able to handle the face to face confrontation.
And yet here you are…
Lmao he living rent free in your head
