What I learned from Simply Naillogical is that cream paint eats the glitter/holo, so adding it into a normal paint will kill most of it. If you would like more to be visible on the wall don't put it in the paint itself, put it on with a clear base as an extra layer, this way you have more control over how much you want to see it... :)
_And,_ just like the value of Simply's peely base, I would recommend going this sort of job over wallpaper (you can even peel-off wallpaper now!). Covering up the glittery properties of glitter will be no problem, but you may face some real texture issues in the future.

My grandma loved pink and shiny things, so in both their houses my grandpa used a machine to blow glitter into the plaster on the ceilings before it dried. I am an interior designer and I have built several homes. I currently work as a designer in a tile and flooring store that sells all the products you covered and needed. So I am coming from a place of real life experience and knowledge. The double sided adhesive paper is intended for wall applications where there is limited water exposure. We mostly stick to just using them for kitchen backsplashes and accent walls in dry areas. They are not intended for walking on. It also looked like you applied the tile directly with mortar on top of the existing tile. They will likely fall off if moisture works its way in. On both the vinyl and the tile you could have used a roll on primer that would make it grip the mortar better. Also make sure that you caulk, not grout, the corners so they can flex to prevent cracking. As far as the glitter grout goes, adding the glitter definitely messed up the integrity of the grout mixture. They sell grout that already has the glitter in it. There is solid ones similar to what you created which is a fine aggregate. But the one on the TikTok is epoxy based which is why it is clear. You just need to move quickly with the epoxy because you can't buff it off like regular grout once it sets up. To finish the edging when using a harder to find tile you can use Schluter metal pieces. They come in a lot of colors and metal finishes so you can match them to your faucets or tile. If you have a reno question I don't mind giving advice. Hi there 👋🏽 My dad paints houses & renovates as a lead contractor. When you’re painting with a roller, don’t PUSH the roller into the wall. Glide it over the wall and the paint lasts a lot longer. When you push, it pushes further into the roller and soaks it up and ends up drying out faster! Just thought this might help with future projects!
And afaik, they make these M shapes in the beginning while the paint brush still has a lot of paint on to kind of spread the paint over the full wall before you start to cover vertically otherwise at the end you have barely any paint left!
Hi Mia! I’m a contractor in the Seattle area and it’s great that you’re taking renovations in your own hands! I would too. One thing though; matte tiles for the shower wall aren’t the best for cleaning. That’s why polished tiles are recommended. Love your videos! 💜
Yeah, I moved into a condo with matte tiles and they literally always look like they're covered in soap scum, plus the water sticks to them more causing spots.
The glitter grout in the video is an epoxy glitter grout. That could be why the results are different from mixing glitter to white grouting. 🤓 The bathroom looks cool. That tiling adhesive mat is revolutionary! OMG.
came looking for this comment! epoxy grout would be easier to clean too, right? because it would dry as a super-smooth glossy surface like the rest of the shower tiles.
Most epoxy grouts have about the same "consistency" like cement based products. Because they are not intendet to be used in private homes, but in heavy industry settings, or high chemical use. Like dairies, pools, food industry in general.... so they have to be "anti slippery" for lack of a better word. Its not the same epoxy as the one you would use for casting.
@@dietotaku I have epoxy grout in my bathroom and trust me it's not easier to clean. You need them to completely dry before apply a clear coat to protect them, otherwise they will pick up all the dirt and become a lot dirtier than cement ones.
There is a clear epoxy grout you're supposed to use with the glitter. It cures FAST. I used it to redo my kitchen blacksplash; green and gold glass tile with gold glitter grout. The clear creates the 'bam' of glitter you're looking for.
Here's a bit of really good advice that you should take: NEVER TILE OVER TILE ON WALLS!! I can PROMISE you, that her tiles will be popping off the old tiles underneath, especially because they didn't even do anything to rough up the surface of the old tiles. Save yourself money and time by taking the old tiles off. You'll be much happier because your tiles won't be coming loose or popping off in a year or two ( IF they last that long ).
definitely appreciating that advice. Me not buffing the higher sheen paint in a room led to the new paint rubbing off quite a bit in less than a 3 year span. Waste of paint and money :( gonna try buffing before priming and painting it again.
She didn't show the entire renovation project (she specificallysaid). Therefore, we don't know if she did or did not sand the old tiles on the wall first. But good advice for those that didn't know and would only use this video (crazy if they did) as a guide.
@@TheCurlyFitChicOriginal The fact is, if she did " sand " the tiles and didn't say she sanded the tiles, the instructional video is still WRONG. If you're going to put an instructional on how to do something and don't put ALL the steps in said video, people are going to follow those steps. If steps aren't in the video that need to be done for the work to come out properly, IT'S STILL WRONG! People are going to follow those steps and end up with bad results, causing people a loss of money because she didn't put out an accurate video. Have a wonderful day!
Love the glitter walls! Never heard/seen anyone put tiles ONTOP of tiles before though O.O; I would worry about moisture seeping into any gaps and cause unseen mould...or even making the tiles un-stick eventually? maybe?? the basin and taps are AWESOME omg
Hemway, the company you bought the glitter from has a premade glitter grout and sealant that looks like what you were trying to get. They also have glitter glaze for walls that seems to be even more sparkly.
Dayum! At first I thought I liked the initial shower tiles better but the buttercup/pastel yellow definitely has it's rightful place in the final look!! So gorgeous, dreamy, whimsical, magical, heavenly 🥴🤤🫠🙃🤤🤤🤤
Not me feeling absolutely ancient that I actually had glitter paint in my teenage bedroom nearly 20yrs ago 😱 mine was iridescent over white paint, with a couple of bright pink walls thrown in too. My 17 - 21yr old self loved that room! Trends really do come back around every 20yrs 🤣
GIRL I'm right there with u! I love watching her videos, but like u said, I had glitter EVERYTHING 20 yrs ago...Oh who am I kidding?! I still ❤ LOVE ❤ glitter!!!
My grandma still has an olive green glittered and textured bathroom from the 70s. You’d shred your skin if you brushed up against the walls but it’s… “pretty”(?).
A lot of my friends had this. But they did it with a clear sealant type product so they glitter stood out a lot more. I like the subtle glitter Mia did better than the chunky ones my friends had personally!
Mia about the reveal: "I know this isn't why you're here." Me who has watched every single renovation video posted plus the empty house tour: "This is exactly what I am here for."
I know that's EXACTLY what I thought with the glitter paint, cloud wall paper, and glitter grout! Also, Mia's hair in the beginning was total fairy vibes!! 🧚♀️ 😍💘
I really hope we can get a 6 month update on this :) What you learned, what has worked, what hasn't etc. Did any of it fail? It would be awesome to see so that people don't make a similar mistake :D It's so great that you are testing these "hacks" because then a lot of people can save a lot of time and money
oh my gosh, the sink area is soo beautiful! I wish we'd seen more of it. The swan faucet, the mirror and the clouds on the wall are officially my favourite part of your house 😍 so ethereal
No but imagine that glitter grout with like marble patterned tiles, it would look like modern mount Olympus, and especially with like gold hardware and some good lighting fixtures. It would look simply ethereal
You could probably even DIY an easy to adjust one with an old wire clothes hanger if you really wanted to have a tool for it too. But the glove thing would be alot easier than what mia had to do lol
the amount of resin i’ve had to squeeze out of rollers… a gloved hand is sometimes the only solution. gotta be fast with it though, and it isn’t the most environmentally friendly solution (construction/ renovation isn’t in the first place so it’s probably not an issue lol)
Yes you definitely want the roller assembly that connects on both sides. I found some products on Amazon that don’t use traditional grout mixed with craft glitter. I might suggest doing a traditional grout on the first application then go over it with an epoxy grout mixed with glitter.
My niece has purple glitter walls and absolutely loves it, and it looks so beautiful especially with the different lighting throughout the day. Good choice I can only imagine how beautiful your bathroom is great job.
6:30 The rollers are specially designed, the stiffer part goes at the front, dispensing the paint better, the looser part (without support) goes at the back, smoothing the whole thing and preventing the formation of smudges.
Fun video! For future reference the sticky musselbound mat isn't recommended to be used for floors. I have a feeling it's probably because of the weight/pressure that floors take. The mat is going to allow the tile to move with the pressure and eventually crack. Seems like an awesome product for walls though!
Yeah, I tried it on a small counter next to our stove and it definitely isn’t great for counters or floors. It flexes and the grout cracks and falls out. I’ll be tearing it out and re-tiling it at some point. Would only recommend for backsplash for sure
I love the subtle glitter in the tiles, I wish my bathroom was like that!! I've also seen people use metallic/glittery paint on top of grout to get the glittery look
I was totally vibing with the black walls and floorboards, I did that to my own room, but you definitely made the after unique to yourself! I am worried about the integrity of the adhesive flooring in a bathroom though, sounds like a problem when moisture starts setting in.
I was thinking the same. Glitter grout is a thing, they didn't just mix glitter and regular grout together. But the bathroom turned out to be great after all 😊
When I was 16 I re did my bedroom. Painted the walls a dark, royal purple. My base board and trim was black. For my ceiling I used the same black paint but added silver glitter to give the illusion of far away stars. To this day that is still my favorite bedroom ever! I wish I was able to do it again now but unfortunately I rent an apartment and 90% of landlords don't allow you to paint any of your rooms. 😭😭😭
That sounds exactly like my teenage bedroom! Dark purple with black trim/closet. I had a boring white ceiling though, so I painted stars all over it with glow-in-the-dark paint. And I had tiny string lights everywhere. It was so cozy! Tiny room too btw. Everyone was against going dark, but they had to admit it worked very well once I was done, haha!
@@MsEgwene I'm a huge fan of reading and owned alot of books so my dad built me 3 rows of shelves going around my entire room. The purple/black combo are my favorite colors (besides red lol). My mom wasn't too excited with the dark colors either but the room grew on her after we had finished it. I wanted to paint my doors with black chalkboard paint as well but that paint was expensive back then so I wasnt able too.
I got curious and looked it up. And I got indeed a UK company called Hemway that has premixed glitter grout (in not renovating but still very very intrigued by it)
i used to work at a paint store and the massive rollers are just what a lot of professionals tend to use, especially on commercial jobs and apartments. The most common sizes were 12in, 16in, and 18in so definitely a lot bigger than what most people would use. Bigger tools need more control tho so use at your own risk! Also if anyone has issues with their rollers shedding lint, you can use painters tape on them like you would use tape for a linty shirt. Most roller frames can also attach to broom handles if the broom head is unscrew-able
I think the glitter grout was actually glitter mixed with epoxy resin, my tiler friend once told me act it. It is more expensive than grout though so I guess it's reeeeally uncommon.
The bathroom looks FANTASTIC! As with all of your renovation videos, I’m happy to see you add colour and patterns and just do fun things that give your home more personality.
Mia.... Mia I NEED to know where that swan faucet came from. Mia, please I'm begging from the bottom of my heart lol. Also I love the way the glitter paint came out and the thought of someone a hundred years from now pulling up the flooring and shower tiles, just to find more tiles and linoleum makes me giggle.
I found the faucet on Walmart for $150, it’s called Designer Bathroom Faucet - For Sink and Bathroom - Golden Swan Design! Also found it on Amazon for $123 called LCBLC Golden Swan Basin Faucet For Bathroom Vessel Sink Hot And Cold Water Mixer Tap
This might already have been said in comments, but you can also use a spackle scraper/spatula to get the extra paint off the paint roller. It works really well!
Mia you simply inspire me 🌟 doing so many renovations, sewing, baking, converting a van?! You can do EVERYTHING and you are never afraid to try. I admire you ♥
Metallic grout is exactly what it sounds like. Metallic grout is grout with a metallic, or metal-like, appearance. It can be considered as a designer, or boutique, grout color, and while it isn’t the right choice for every situation, it can certainly be used effectively in many different ways. The Tile Doctor offers the Starlike metallic grout color collection - a collection of unique metallic colors
I really want to know how the double sided tile adhesive holds up on the floor. In 6 months or next year, will it still be holding up well or will the grout be cracking/tile loosening? I really do want to see on a wall, Mia.
I love that you have no fear when you decorate!! I also love the glitter grout, but would be terrified that I would hate it in my bathroom 😭 your style is just * chefs kiss *
Omg I'm so happy you liked the glitter paint 😄 I tried to tag you in instagram when I saw someone add glitter to navy blue paint 🤭 it looked like a galaxy and I just had too see you try adding glitter to paint, had a whole Mia vibe on it all over 😎 turned out so pretty!
I love glitter in my paint, when we did my room that was one of the things I really wanted and I still love it. Especially in the late afternoon when the sunlight gets all golden
When Mia and the word renovation comes together, you just know it's a great video. P.S. Everything she posts is great so I don't know where my point is but it's there, I hope.
My favorite painting tool ever: PaintStick EZ Roller. Holds the paint in the handle, which means it also extends for us short people so you don't need a ladder/stool as much.
The thing with the paint rolling is that when the roller is loaded they spread it across the wall, so that when you start going up and down you're encountering more paint as you go along and not having to reload, and getting more even coverage that way =)
That sticky mat for the tile is a game changer. I totally agree getting done a whole day faster is worth the cost. Especially for a small room or backsplash.
Wow Mia great job on the reno. The amount of hard work you did for us, plus all the filming and editing to make us happy is much appreciated. And can I just say the results were very pretty like whimsical style. Talking whimsical, the hair style was gorgeous like either fairy theme or fairy wedding style. 🥰🥰

I definitely think for the glitter grout, they colored the grout too so it'd be gold in color as well as glittery. You can use professional paint tint concentrate or regular paint.

@@bkornytoo51 It’s not really a DIY ‘instructional’ video though. It’s a video about trialing products in viral TikToks.
Love the glitter walls! Never heard/seen anyone put tiles ONTOP of tiles before though O.O; I would worry about moisture seeping into any gaps and cause unseen mould...or even making the tiles un-stick eventually? maybe?? the basin and taps are AWESOME omg
That's what grout is for. Like the entire purpose.
Mia, You work sooo hard, SO hard for your content and it shows. You are a gem and you are so appreciated!
Aw thank you so so much!!💖💖

THE CURLY HAIR LOOKS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE ON YOU!!!

Why do I feel like this looks like her wedding makeup & hair trial look though 👀👀👀
@@pedbr07 oh my god if it is my vote definitely goes to this option, i don’t even need to see the others

Mia, you look like a fairy! 🧚♀️ 😍💘
Can we just appreciate how much Mia works for us and cares for us, she is so kind and sweet! We love you Mia keep up the good work ❤️

She works for herself, we just benefit from her hard work 💜
Well yea I sure hope so when she literally makes her money off y’all😂
You see
Mia, love your hair it looks like a fairy! 🧚♀️ 😍💘 Love the cloud wallpaper, glitter wall paint, and sink!
I had a light pink glittered ceiling.
My grandma still has an olive green glittered and textured bathroom from the 70s. You’d shred your skin if you brushed up against the walls but it’s… “pretty”(?).
Same here my mom did the glitter paint at the same time early 20s.
A lot of my friends had this. But they did it with a clear sealant type product so they glitter stood out a lot more. I like the subtle glitter Mia did better than the chunky ones my friends had personally!
Mia about the reveal: "I know this isn't why you're here."
Me who has watched every single renovation video posted plus the empty house tour: "This is exactly what I am here for."
EXATAMENTE
I literally said the exact same thing
exactly
it’s so cute, it looks like a fairy’s bathroom! it’d be so fun to get like flower- or butterfly-shaped decor
I know that's EXACTLY what I thought with the glitter paint, cloud wall paper, and glitter grout! Also, Mia's hair in the beginning was total fairy vibes!! 🧚♀️ 😍💘
@@cheryl-lynnmehring8606 i agree! mia is a real-life fairy
I really hope we can get a 6 month update on this :) What you learned, what has worked, what hasn't etc. Did any of it fail? It would be awesome to see so that people don't make a similar mistake :D It's so great that you are testing these "hacks" because then a lot of people can save a lot of time and money
not a reno comment but 4 years into watching your videos and you still make me CRACK UP 😭thank you for the joy girly
Mia just gives us the BEST content and makes it look so effortless. And all while planning a wedding!! ❤ this hardworking queen
Please let Mia see this: They used a see-through Epoxy Grout, that's why you could see the glitter clearly
Mia, we would have loved a full bathroom makeover video to see the whole process!😍💘💯👍
Hey love the glitter! For future reference, you can actually buy glittered grout!
oh my gosh, the sink area is soo beautiful! I wish we'd seen more of it. The swan faucet, the mirror and the clouds on the wall are officially my favourite part of your house 😍 so ethereal
Ikr 🥺
I loved the glittery pain with the soft cloud wallpaper. They just really complimented each other.
I just love Mama Maples and how supportive she is!!!!
No but imagine that glitter grout with like marble patterned tiles, it would look like modern mount Olympus, and especially with like gold hardware and some good lighting fixtures. It would look simply ethereal
It be would like like a 3 year old Disney Princess designed it. Cheap, childish and ugly.
That would be sooooo pretty
@@codename495 I don't know if we are on the same idea here but go off I g
sounds so art deco! and imagine some dark forest green here and there as well!
@@EmmaJohnsonShenanigans did not realize a colour could make the vibe so different but I'm living for it
I think to skratch extra paint from the roller you can use a hand covered in a latex glove. Less expensive and size adjustable!
A 5-in-1 is the tool professionals use to clean out their rollers (among other things.)
I always want to see the before and after!! The sink with the cloud wallpaper and the gold accents. It's so beautiful!! This was fun
Fun video! For future reference the sticky musselbound mat isn't recommended to be used for floors. I have a feeling it's probably because of the weight/pressure that floors take. The mat is going to allow the tile to move with the pressure and eventually crack. Seems like an awesome product for walls though!
In the bathroom it might be moisture related as well my parents had adhesive laminate tile in the bathroom and they all peeled up due to moisture.
Yes, it's because you walk on it and the mat is too flexible, so the grout may crack, or so I've been told. It's meant for walls for sure.
Yeah, I tried it on a small counter next to our stove and it definitely isn’t great for counters or floors. It flexes and the grout cracks and falls out. I’ll be tearing it out and re-tiling it at some point. Would only recommend for backsplash for sure
Oh nooooo
Yeah I had a feeling that it was only meant for walls. For so many reasons. But I still wouldn’t trust it for a wall either.
I loved the format of actually transforming a space with the TikTok hacks. I loved the before and after. The new sink and mirror are my favorite part!
I don't care at all about tiktok, but I LOVE Mia's reno videos so please keep'em coming no matter what the source of inspiration is 👍
i’m so glad you did the before and after of the bathroom it’s absolutely adorable!!
The glitter paint and tiles look great. I'm convinced the glitter grout was a different product. Fantastic job, you guys are so handy.💖💗💖
I was thinking the same. Glitter grout is a thing, they didn't just mix glitter and regular grout together. But the bathroom turned out to be great after all 😊
Yeah I've definitely seen ads for glitter grout somewhere
Yeah it definitely looked like a ready made product and not one you DIY. I hope she is able to get her hands on some for a video in the future!
Yeah i saw someone say it was Epoxy Grout, which is why the glitter is clearer
Your family has really done an incredible job! And that to on your own❤🎉
You need to use a specific grout glitter additive, or they make pre-made glitter grout that is super sparkly!!!
Nothing says Sunday like a new Mia video ❤️
In the UK you can buy premixed tubs of glitter grout. I'm pretty sure that's what was used in the tik tok. ❤️
You can get them in the US as well so I suspect they're available in Canada!
I got curious and looked it up. And I got indeed a UK company called Hemway that has premixed glitter grout (in not renovating but still very very intrigued by it)
@@Confidence_isFashion I used to get adds for them I think and or saw someone use them in a video so I knew it definitely existed.
I’m not into house renovation type videos but I will literally watch anything Mia puts out she radiates good vibes! We stan a handy queen❤️
i used to work at a paint store and the massive rollers are just what a lot of professionals tend to use, especially on commercial jobs and apartments.
Wayfair has a ton of fun faucets like that
This might already have been said in comments, but you can also use a spackle scraper/spatula to get the extra paint off the paint roller. It works really well!
at first i was sceptical about the yellow tiles, but OMG the bathroom looks so good! It looks like a luxurious heaven and even the tiles are so cool!
Mia, I could for real just watch you mix glitter into things and be perfectly content. Always S-TIER content Miss Mia!
Mia you simply inspire me 🌟 doing so many renovations, sewing, baking, converting a van?! You can do EVERYTHING and you are never afraid to try. I admire you ♥
It’s amazing how much work she puts into her videos. She always makes such wholesome content.
Love from a fellow creator 💗
Wait why am I obsessed ?!?! I love the sky wallpaper with the mirror and all the tile is so gorgeous
Yes, an update in 1/2 yr or a year!
It is not suppose to be used on floors. If you use it make sure you do your research and waterproof it properly.
your renovating skills never fail to impress me. the transformation is wild
I would genuinely pay for Mia to come to my home in New Zealand and reno the whole house. The designs are so fabulous!!
I love that you have no fear when you decorate!! I also love the glitter grout, but would be terrified that I would hate it in my bathroom 😭 your style is just * chefs kiss *
Please never stop filming before & afters, there always the highlight of renovation videos
Love the wash basin. My niece used 4 packs of glitter to one gallon on her bedroom and its looks amazing. That adhesive tile mat is amazing.
I'm excited to see that glitter wall! Sounds so cool🤍✨
Okay but some of these were really cool 😅
I love the fairy curls on Mia’s hair in this video
OH MY......your Roman blinds!!! The pattern on them is PERFECTION!!! What video did I miss showing where you go them!!! love!!!!
The thing with the paint rolling is that when the roller is loaded they spread it across the wall, so that when you start going up and down you're encountering more paint as you go along and not having to reload, and getting more even coverage that way =)
The bathroom looks amazing!! Happy Sunday everyone❤️
That sticky mat for the tile is a game changer. I totally agree getting done a whole day faster is worth the cost. Especially for a small room or backsplash.
Aw, this bathroom looks so dreamy ^^ Also, I really like your curly hair, Mia, so cute!
Wow Mia great job on the reno. The amount of hard work you did for us, plus all the filming and editing to make us happy is much appreciated. I definitely think for the glitter grout, they colored the grout too so it'd be gold in color as well as glittery.
You can use professional paint tint concentrate or regular paint.
Wait a second you are saying if I have white grout I can add a paint color such as pink and mix it in and turn it to pink grout?
