    The market for this sort of tech is so minuscule… but I’m glad someone out there is passionate enough about it to make a video on it knowing the pool of people that would even be able to wrap their heads around it is relatively small. If your channel didn’t do exactly this… I might have died never knowing such a device exists.
    I guess the saying goes… “someone’s gotta do it”.
    Glad it’s you.

      Thanks man, it is indeed an incredibly niche product. I wondered while editing how small the audience for this really is. Axun does a nice job offering all of this wild stuff so definitely worth calling out to the few.

    • @TheChrisBeans
      @TheChrisBeans 3 года назад +1

      @@ScarletSprites He also has a ‘JAMMA adjustment conversion board’, which is even more niche still, but I’m really hoping it’ll allow me to use my AW motherboard on my SNK U4. Currently when it’s connected the screen is extremely bright and washed out (at 15kHz on the dip switches and via a ‘big red’ adapter).
      Axun is out there solving problems only 30 people in the world have, and I’m extremely grateful for it!!

    • @ScarletSprites

      I actually have that adjustment board in the box as well as his PSU. I figured there was only so much tech rundown people could handle. I was correct, 11min of this (even mainstreamed) was a lot to ask of people. I’ll see about working those two things into another video but perhaps with a different angle. The straight up on a plate without context probably won’t fly. I’m not sure I’d watch a video on a PSU or brightness control tbh.

    • @TheChrisBeans
      @TheChrisBeans 3 года назад +1

      @@ScarletSprites ha, yeah, that would be dead niche!! I’m actually getting his PSU too for use with the Behar Bros Shogun supergun. Axun’s work, certainly to my eye, has a more ‘premium’ vibe to it than most arcade peripheral/supergun accessories.
      Lot of great stuff coming out right now.

      There’s a few things you’ll need there but it does the trick. Best of luck with the setup and streams!

  • @GhaleonStrife
    @GhaleonStrife 3 года назад

    I've been doing something like this in my Vewlix for about a year now. I feed the JAMMA edge into Irken Labs' Jammafier, which outputs the video over HD15 to a Jassifier which converts the video to OSSC-safe levels to feed an (you guessed it) OSSC via SCART. Since the OSSC outputs HDMI, it can go right into a capture card with passthrough.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  3 года назад +1

      Nice. Yes, everyone seems to have their own unique way of making this happen. I've never been much into streaming so I haven't dabbled too much. Just got lucky and suddenly had all the parts. How do the Midway boards handle in your setup? Still a pain?

    • @GhaleonStrife
      @GhaleonStrife 3 года назад +1

      @@ScarletSprites Oh, no. It's not necessarily for streaming. I need all of that just to make video on JAMMA boards even happen in my Vewlix. It's just that adding a capture card makes streaming possible.
      I don't have any Midway boards to test for myself, though I know a guy who uses the same setup and got MKII working. It's a matter of tweaking the OSSC settings.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  3 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s possible the limiting factor currently is the RT5X. It sounds like there might be an update that addresses non-standard signals coming in the future.

  • @SonicFanChris4
    @SonicFanChris4 2 месяца назад

    8:08 Wait. I'm confused. How do you capture from a multi-slot board exactly? Do you just plug the Big Red Adapter in between the MVS board and its harness? Or does it require an extra harness or adapter?

    • @SonicFanChris4
      @SonicFanChris4 2 месяца назад

      Or does it only work with the 2P extractor

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  2 месяца назад +1

      The Big Red adapter needs to be on there to Jamma-ize the harness (same as if you were plugging in a Jamma game to the Neo Geo harness). The Jamma Extractor is then added to pull video and audio, same as if it were connected to a standard Jamma harness.

    I’m wondering if this will work with my $20 Hyperkin nes clone with the hot 90s neon colors. It won’t work with the original plain colored one. But do the 90s neon colors change the fitment? Also, do you do digital pinball videos?

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  3 года назад +1

      If there’s one thing that I love, it’s digital pinball. I do plan to start a podcast addressing some of the important issues you raise. First episode will be on which type of serial number is best, odd or even. Listen to the Retro Word wherever podcasts are sold.

  • @TheChrisBeans
    @TheChrisBeans 3 года назад +1

    You had to tell people about it before I got my order in!! 😏
    Great video as always.
    With the picture duplicated onto the MVS, the screen was obviously really dark. Can that be adjusted via the JAMMA extractor, or would that require adjustment on the MVS chassis itself?
    Keep ‘em coming, I love this stuff!

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  3 года назад

      The screen was a bit darker on the MVS, even after warming up a bit. I did have the adjuster up all the way so if you wanted to go further you’d have to adjust the brightness and contrast on the remote board. They were only about halfway in this case. It becomes a balancing act if you want to split AND capture because the adjuster will handle brightness for the scart output as well.

    • @ScarletSprites
      @ScarletSprites  3 года назад +1

      For anything Jamma I’d look into just going the Supergun route. Buy the power supply and the Supergun and you are good for multiple boards. If you can get a HAS that’s the way you want to go. The Naomi and Atomiswave you may have to be on the lookout for, not sure of a consistent source of those.

    So the product was defective and no one caught it and that's what prompted the revision? So much of the scene is people with no EE background or even basic electronics knowledge slapping together products, however professionally finished they might appear.

    Wow, this is nicer+less expensive than I was expecting, and might be the thing I need to capture footage from my 2049. Next up for me is to see if those cheapo vga to hdmi converters are 'good enough' since I'm not caring about lag for once, and finally to pray my avermedia 'live gamer' can even sync to it. Some days, I wish I could just be happy with emulation like I used to be. That'd solve everything. 😂
