That looks and sounds great! I got one of Guitar Fetish’s roasted maple necks for a Strat build. Need a few more parts before I begin, but the neck looks really nice.
Planning on doing a black and white build with their arctic white double bound TE body and rosewood fretboard neck. This video shows how great it can sound so I'm excited :)
I had everything ready in my shopping cart. The Neon Green Floyd Rose routed Strat body, a neck, Tortoiseshell pickguard, gold hardware.....then I started reading user reviews on GFS bodies and necks. I emptied my cart. As for mixing the Lido necks with XGP bodies or XGP necks with Lido bodies, a guy at GFS said it can be done. That "GFS Basics" stuff should be avoided though. Those are the parts that need extra touching up. They even admit that on their website.
Xgp line fits American standard parts. More for modern bridge instead of vintage . Fender American necks and Mexican necks and hardware supposed to fit. Awesome job
I built one of these and used an American Fender Telecaster rosewood neck, the neck pocket is oversized for a fender neck and i had to shim the side of the pocket. But it came out fantastic. I have the look of a fender 1960 three color burst custom tele for under $1k double bound. Which fender is really not making at this point and it's beautiful.
Pro Tip: I ordered those compensated barrel saddles thinking they would improve my already perfect intonation (if you can believe that) but they were so far off I couldn't use them as is. I ended up flipping them over and reversing the grub screws and there she be, back to perfect intonation but now with brass saddles.
You probaly didn't put them in the correct positions. One of those compensated saddles is different than the other two. I have used many of these saddles and they allow for perfect intonation, every time1
Very nice. I found you when searching for “You wear it well acoustic”. Thanks for that instructional! I’m working on it now. You’ve inspired me to seriously consider a build. What was your approximate spend for this? It looks and sounds great. Thanks for paying it forward TR!
I saw a build of the same body, the guy used a Fender neck and it didn't fit, it was far too small and left massive gaps in the neck pocket, also the lacquer on the neck pocket had separated from the wood but he didn't send it back! That other build put me off XGP, I am not a fan of the neck tint, it reminds me of Donald Trumps false tan! I still might buy one as long as I can get a neck with a slightly toned down tint. If you are not happy with the neck pickup sound have a fiddle with an EQ pedal, I do this before even thinking of changing a pickup, 9 times out of 10 I get the sound I am happy with.
Nice guitar. Hoping to buy a Lake Placid blue version of the Tele in the next few weeks. Was the Wilkinson bridge an upgrade from what is provided in their hardware kits on their website?
Ordered the double bound gold tele body and that same Wilkinson bridge. Can you explain how you ended up getting the pickup to fit. What method did you use to remove the wood. How to prevent the body from chipping when doing so? Great vid too..👍🏻
I used a chisel and hammer. Took out a little bit of wood then tested, repeat. If you are concerned with chipping painter’s tape will help minimize that.
Hey man, wow that colour pops, I’ve only just stumbled across these guitar fetish bodies and I’m really thinking about pulling the trigger on one, the metallic purple just does it for me, I’m at the umming and arrring part, I don’t want to order one and it not meet my expectations, so as you’ve already gone through the process I find myself in, would you recommend me to buy one or should I buy a bare body and spray it myself? Thanks for this video man it’s cool as
Quality of my build was on par with Mexican fender or squier classic vibe models. Don’t expect perfection, however they are definitely worth the money imo.
@@TestarossaRocks Oh that’s great, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the price & at the end of the day I’m gonna build it to use not to look at so I can live with minor flaws. Yours looks killer man. And don’t you think it’s cool to have a budget option for home builds, don’t get me wrong some of those pre checked & relic’d Nitrocellulose bodies look awesome but also come with a hefty price tag, which is understandable as it’s taken someone’s hard work to make it look cool. And I also like warmoth but again it starts to get pricey especially shipping over to the UK ✌🏼 Thanks for the reply anyway man Take it easy 👍🏼🎸🤩
Props for the Richie Kotzen solo!
@@RobBluth glad someone recognized that.
Changing my mind about partscasters, that is sweet
They are a lot of fun
Looks and sounds great. Bonus points for the Warrant and Skid Row riffs 🤘

Surprised at the quality honestly

That looks pretty sweet without the pickguard.
I am impressed, sounds awesome.
Not bad at all.

They really ain’t that bad. The bodies are perfectly usable.
I really take some of the reviews with a grain of salt as they say. I’ve had no issues with parts from GF.

I really wish you would have omitted that headstock decal.

Exactly
It states on the site that these premium xgp necks are drilled for 9mm tuners
Correct. Hipshot 8.5mm tuners will work fine.
Cool video man

I can't wait to snag a body from them and see what I can't do with it should be fun 😊 just a custom build
It’s a fun little project.

Nice, glad to help. I spent $350-400 I believe. Not sure exact amount. It was a lot of fun and affordable for sure.

I have an XGP tele body that is still unused because it weighted EIGHT POUNDS. Literally. I have never owned a complete tele that weighed that much.
My XGP Strat body was about 5lbs by itself.
Nice guitar. Hoping to buy a Lake Placid blue version of the Tele in the next few weeks.
Was the Wilkinson bridge an upgrade from what is provided in their hardware kits on their website?
I bought the bridge from guitar fetish as well. It did require modifying the body however.
I got the same kit.. My neck to body is like a hot dog down a hallway.
Wow that’s surprising. The fit on this was great.
@@TestarossaRocks I am going to measure the neck pocket and neck. I am speculating that I got a body with an oversized pocket.

A guitar with those specs yes. There is a discrepancy in quality however.
