I’m thinking they point out the “emblem marth” thing because they don’t want people to think that it’s canon that these characters are like ghosts here. I’d reason to guess the intention is that the rings hold only the spirit or image of the heroes and are not explicitly the heroes themselves if you get what I mean.
So, ala Ladybug with the Reunion thing they just showed days ago? lol
Or his canon last name was actually "Emblem" the whole time...
It's all over the place at this point, who knows what is and isn't canon any more
The ring that lady gives Alear isn’t Marth’s ring. Bud ring is gold and that rind was silver. The scene that follows where Alear summons Marth is a completely different scene than the divine dragon dying.
In fact, the ring she gives Alear is identical in design to Sigurd's ring (seen in the 1st trailer & on JPN Twitter).🤔
As a friend, we're all truly repleceable for Marth
I do wonder if in the good ending protagonist will end with blue hair, since they are torn like this. Kinda getting a Byleth-esque hair transformation
At least it is certain now that they are a protagonist that we can name, not an avatar. Also the mage lady on a wyvern gives me hopes for more unique classes!

I don't think we can name Alear since their name is spoken in cutscenes.
I don't see where the naming is, but I'm glad there seems to be a villainous streak to them. Whether or not there will be good/bad ending remains to be seen, it could just be a corrupted phase that requires them to be saved by the power of friendship/rings
I think the shot of Alear with full red hair in a burning castle is a flashback, possibly one he gets and starts having conflicting feelings about (because he doesn't want to straight-up accept what his old self had done). It might even be the reason he was put to sleep in the first place, as a way to stop and later reform him once his memories have faded.
Like I wanna guess they hid from history (if his past rampage is true) and kind of rewrote it to prevent Alear from going berzerk or being manipulated again. Cuz basically his whole team looks happy he's awake lol. Most likely no one knows what happened back then (if its true) besides the Emblem Heroes and the Fell dragon believers.
This might be wishful thinking and giving the writers too much credit, but I kind of hope the game goes in the direction that Alear really did go Berzerk in the past because of the Fell Dragon blood or something in him making Alear unstable. But his kingdom basically was able to put him asleep as he wouldn't be able to function normally with the Fell Dragon still around (not like direct control but moreso like an influence of just being alive), as the Fell Dragon actually went into hiding or in a cryo-like state, instead of actually being defeated.
Being that they didn't want to get their hands dirty or have their divine dragon get a bad reputation, they pinned all the blame and deaths of that castle-event on the Fell Dragon and basically made that other Kingdom their scapegoat (which would explain the routed antagonism they have to Alear's kingdom. Kind of like being punished for something they didn't even do).
As for the ending I feel like they can do (depending on like your choices and who's alive) like Alear becoming the true Final Boss and you either A) Have to kill them and they're able to say their goodbyes at least or B) Are able to defeat them and have Alear live on.

Shame that there are only twelve rings (allegedly, still hoping for more), but this trailer has gotten me more hyped. About the unit classes of the Ring characters, my guess is that we might be able to choose their classes in a Fates-style system, where they each have a few to choose from. Either that, or the characters get all of their canon weaponry. As for Ike's appearance, maybe we get to choose how they look if they have multiple designs? That would be cool, especially if they include the designs for FEH alts and I can give Marth his awesome Legendary costume. Hoping the story has that moral choice or a betrayal from Alear like you suggested. That would be cool, and we either get a Fates choice done right or a Danganronpa V3 first-case-style story beat.
We already know there are different outfits in the game so maybe, who knows. I did find it odd that there's a discrepancy with his first reveal though, it's quite weird.

The Pegasus Knight on the left looks a lot like that villain hirl with the heart shaped tatoo. I feel like that girl could also be related to the one with the dtar shaped tatoo, maybe they're siblings or something.
My favorite part was when Marth Emblem said "maybe the real fire was the friends we reset for along the way"

Looks like the story is very straight forward and I’m glad we won’t have to deal with like 12 routes but I also get why people would be disappointed with a lame story too. I’m still very excited though.
Ideally a single route with a powerful and complex story would be great, but we'll see what they come up with

@@LinkKing7 I'm hoping it's one route that's at least got some interesting ideas and good characters, my fear is the game trying to coax on fanservice only
Yeah, like for me personally 3H branching story + DLC (while written well enough on their own)....was kind of a slog to go through all of it. I get that's not the case for some people, but tbh I don't have the most available free time. If I'm going to replay a game, I want to because there's a level of difference in my 2nd playthrough, but NOT to the extent where I have to put in the same amount of focus on each route lol (like how FE8 and FE6 has minor branching areas or FE7 has Eliwood/Hector mode)
Along with the fact that while 1 route is good in all in 3H, you do kind of have to play....all of them to just get the general feel of the entire story so you can completely understand characters. Which is like thanks Nintendo, I TOTALLY have that much free time XD.

4:10 first trailer mentions that Long ago, a War against the fell dragon summoned 12 emblems to fight the fell dragon, so yeah, There is the connection since the rings existed before then.
You can see gameplay on the japanese twitter account but i guess they will show it soon. The game comes out in january
As a quick follow up to my last comment, I could see them going with say at most 24 rings. Basically 12 for each side considering according to the trailer they also hold memories that would probably be a good way to handle that with each holding either a "good or bad" one.

I'm not counting out some evil rings for a few of the biggest villains yet. I think 12 would have been a lot. I'm also not counting out some of the missing protagonists in either the base game or in future DLC.
Maybe! It'll be hard to know for sure, but as it stands, this is what it seems like we're getting considering the good guys can be evil too

So it turns out the good karma/bad karma route theory wasn’t far off we see in the end of the trailer we see an evil version of alear so My theory wasn’t far off after all
It'll be interesting if we end up getting more that one route/ending. I'm not hedging my bets on more than one given the simplistic nature of the plot so far

It's a remake of LUTC I think? But I'm working through it slowly in my own time and trying to understand the systems so I might make a video or two once I have a better grasp on things.
I think it would be really cool if they split the story into three parts. Part one is with Alear meeting the other characters from across the land and collecting all of the rings; part two sees Alear get corrupted along with a few of the other rings while you control Veyle (the girl by the tree), and part three let's you use both characters facing off against the four hounds at each region.

Interestingly, Alear only cries out of their blue eye, not the red one… I really hope they give Alear some bite in their character.

I did realize that, though the fact that the red one still has tears in it made me rethink my stance on that one. It'll be interesting to observe nontheless!
I’m getting New Mystery vibes where if you don’t get all of the rings, you might go into the dark route. Very interesting trailer and nice seeing more characters!

My thoughts are that they might actually go with player choice affecting things. To clarify I mean players actions and things like that affecting things. Sorta like how other RPGs have players actions effecting how others perceive you, who can join, what's possible and things like that. think games like Mass Effect, SMT, Fallout, knights of the Old Republic, and things like that when I mean players choices affecting things.
It would be interesting if our choices actually mattered for once, we'll have to wait and see!
@@LinkKing7 This just sorta feels like the game they might try "dabbling" with the idea. I mean with the way the series has approached the last few games it sorta does give off that vibe of them wanting to try something new.
The series is probably never going to go in to the crazy levels of player and system choices like: Disgaia, Final Fantasy Tactics or tactics Ogre. But IS trying to make this series better while keeping it tell approachable is a good thing.
Side note if you haven't ever played the games I've mentioned I'd highly recommend them as they're all good strategy RPGs.
@@mageius I've played FFT and FFTA2, as well as Triangle Strategy and I'm currently playing through Tactics Ogre: Reborn in my down time!
Looking forward to TO Reborn quite a bit actually, it's been fun so far.
@@LinkKing7 Lol, own both thei previous releases of TO so looking forward to reborn as well. Trust me that game gives you a lot of different tools for the player to use.
But as I said I don't think IS will try to go to that level of choices but Engage does feel like it's got a shot at trying introduce some more choices and decisions mattering with what the story trailer has shown at minimum.

We've yet to see Micaiah, F Corrin, Byleth, Leif and Eirika in game or those small clips.
Every other emblem hero has been showcased.

I'm thinking Red Alear is actually just an emblem version of Alear. Each ring is of a lord from each main game, so having an Alear ring wouldn't be too far of a reach, and could be a good twist.
What if choices will actually matter and affect the ending?
Then that would be very epic indeed and I'd like it
Villain Rings may be DLC, or have yet to show them, but who knows. Although the latter is unlikely.
i really like the idea of losing alear halfway through the game. the gameplay of losing one of your strongest units halfway through the game is really cool

I don't want Alear to die I would get depressed if that happened.
Also if we have to fight against Byleth he's most likely the villains side which isn't good especially if his weapon is the Sword of Creator which means Alear is weak against him.

@@LinkKing7 Yeah I am. But FE is never doing that. Its not FFT or Tactics Ogre. Its a hopeful series. What happened with FE 4 was because of Kaga, FE is not doing that kind of stuff.
They could also pull an FE4 on us and let everyone die aside of alier and we play with their childes for the 2nd half
@@sakutaro3musik486 Nah. That was done when Kaga was at the helm and when units dying was not a big deal. Now with characters being a huge draw and investment that players have in building them. Maybe an optional path (Say the last 5 chapters) but as the main story? Dont think so. Reminds me when Houses was announced and people were throwing that FE4 twist as well or that all paths end with Edelgard winning.
Your analysis is making me more excited for this game! Wasn't really feeling it, but hopefully this will be a great Fire Emblem game after all!
On Tactics Ogre; when I heard about the game's release, the first thing I typed into RUclips was "tactics ogre review linkking7", sadly I didn't find anything :P Your review and guides on Triangle Strategy really helped me discover and enjoy the game a lot, so what is your opinion on Tactics Ogre? Is it worth it if I really enjoyed Triangle Strategy? How do they compare?

Yeah, this trailer definitely made me a bit more hopeful about engage so I hope it turns out really well!
As for Tactics Ogre, I'm actually a bit late to the party and am going to start playing it properly once I'm finished with Pokemon I think. I heard it's a long game and really want to give it it's time to shine, but I played a bit of it at the start and I enjoyed it so far. It's a bit different to Triangle Strategy, I'd say it's closer to Final Fantasy Tactics at the moment, but I will definitely make a video about it once I'm done!
