Will do man! Don’t worry about the design bud, the characters are alright and probably be world favorite for the community. Though, for me, all the characters color looks so flashy that I could mistake some of these characters with blue units and red units(though not the engage rings, they’re are easier to depicted lol)

Im honestly surprised you found the "clown girl" to be the most absurd design there. Opinions are fine, but besides the heart tatoo, she just looked like a pompous overdressed noble to me, pretty inoffensive.
What shocked me more, however, was how you completely failed to mention the woman in that castle scene with those four characters lined up, second from the left, because oh my GOD, if anyone ever complained about Camilla and Charlotte, they can go shotgun an entire rootbeer because THIS right here is a new winner for blatant oversexualization of a character design.
Its not really something that outrages me, but I am simply in awe of how shameless she's designed.

I don't think Alear's hair actually turned red, it's just that the lighting was red. Also, I had pretty low expectations for this game's plot, and the trailer at least in my mind exceeded those expectations. Also, I think 12 emblems is enough because each one can be properly fleshed out and play a real role in the story as opposed to being just living MacGuffins.

This trailer somewhat reassured me that the story could still be good, but it’s looking more and more like there are only twelve Emblems in the base game, and that’s a *really* bad idea considering they apparently prioritized popularity and an even gender ratio over actual gameplay and story elements. The more characters we see, the more my opinion of the designs shifts from “cluster*@&%” to “mixed bag”, as some of the best _and_ worst designs so far debuted in this trailer. For some reason, one of the two characters behind Faerghast’s least favorite character is wearing what is basically just Mami Tomoe’s outfit from Madoka Magicka, and it’s throwing me for a loop. There are two different ways that I can see evil Alear going: either they are an amnesiac former villain (which would be amazing), or this is another time travel story (which is kinda meh). It looks like corruption is even more of a story element here than it was in FE8, so despite early impressions, this might be one of the darker Fire Emblem games. I still have mixed feelings about all this, but I’m trying to be optimistic, and I *do* see things here that I actually like.

This would be cool (I guess).

I don’t know if this is a hot take or not: but I’m glad that there are only 12 Emblems. This is an anniversary title but the OCs still have to hold their own in both gameplay and story. Any more than 1 character per game would take away focus from the original characters imo and start to feel less like a celebration of the series and more of reliance of fan service.
I also like that Emblems can be used by the enemies too as opposed to strictly player-based as it’s essentially the equivalent to a pair-up.
As for Alear’s “evil form”, I hope that it’s one of his potential promotions. Alear starts as a Dragon Child with clashing colors but can promote into either Fell Dragon or Divine Dragon. With Fell Dragon being his “evil” form and Divine Dragon looking similar to when he engages with Marth. Sort of like Hoshido and Nohr Noble from Fates (but hopefully we’ll get to choose between the both of them regardless of choices made in game).
Finally, regardless of how good/bland the story ends up being they already sold me on this game from just gameplay aspects alone.

You know you make a good point, if there were too many emblems it could just end up feeling like Heroes or just fluffy fan service with no substance. It’s better for them to focus on the new characters and on a few returning characters then to try and fit everything in since it could muddy everything. One good character is better then a cast of 100 terrible ones as one might say.
(Not saying the returning characters are terrible btw just saying they could be made worse with too many involved.)

Another one...oh my God...like, even assuming bad faith about Charlotte's design (which I defend somewhat because its meant to signify the barely-clothed male fighters and a female equivalent to that), that woman on the left side (the second in the row) of those four in the castle is just a blatant fanservice machine. She's so horrifically sexualized that it's cringeworthy.
Then theres that dark-skinned woman with the lance and offering food to the group, she's okay in my eyes since her outfit has an actual theme and style and taste to it, a wild charm if you will. That one is okay IMO.

As disappointed as I am that there will only be 12 rings I do think this may be for the better. If there were too many rings we wouldn't have as many character interactions between them and the rest of the cast nor would we be able to have all of them play a major role in the story. With too many of them they would likely be relegated to being glorified cameos. Though I miss the lords that aren't present having a smaller cast of one character per game with an equal amount of male and female protagonists was a good decision. Since some of the characters chosen such as Lyn and Lucina didn't have as prominent roles in their own games as the others we could potentially see them more fleshed out in a main line title which is also a plus.

As a more casual FE fan I'm probably in the minority here, but to me having a "simple" story is actually a plus this time. Three Houses' 4d chess geopolitics and multiple paths felt too overwhelming to me as someone who is mainly interested in the tactical gameplay and character designs (which btw don't really bother me here). Overall, this trailer just reinforced how amazing this game looks from a graphical standpoint, and for that alone I'm already pretty hyped.

It looks very pretty with the new artistic style, I like most of the character designs (except the clown girl, I agree that was pretty weird) and the story looks pretty good in my eyes. TH did it for characters in their canon classes, but I felt we saw too much of characters in their generic class fits for most of the game. Here each character has a design that is 100% just them, and even if they have to follow a class convention (Like Louis) There is still an amount of care that goes into them to make sure they stand on their own.

As for why engages look different their murals are probably their most evolved state, to give an example level 1 ike has his blade while a max ike (more specifically full power past/memories alear) has him with his axe. That way allowing for more customization without having to switch emblems along with mixing skills from previous lvs and may explain why although marth has his iconic weapons its still an early game thing. Im optimistic for the story as ling as engages talk a back seat and it doesn't feel like an "anniversary game" but something that can stand on its own that happens to pay tribute to fire emblem if that makes sense.

It could honestly have a nice build up for what his dragon form will be like(and assuming both his blue divine form and his red corrupt form will be a thing). Revealing the plot in the first trailer is skeptical but it’s fire emblem which either give us a taste of what happening rather hidden some critical information. Not sure for the reason why he looking afraid rather pleased to see Alear again but it’s more or less that Alear distant memories will played a massive role here(also Robin but we don’t talk about mr and mrs strategists). The game seems to have a pretty fleshed out world, a decent amount of geopolitics, a somewhat grim, but not too grim tone, and even crumbs of good character interactions, especially those involving Emblem Marth.
About Marth and the other Emblems, I have a feeling that only Marth will play a huge role in the plot, and the rest will merely get base camp lines reacting to events of the story.

I kind of expected them to only do the 12 from the get go. As awesome as it would be to have more (like you mentioned I'm sure we will get dlc for it) I think too many may have overloaded the game and made it too easy at times. And honestly, a FE party is typically 10 to 12 characters. So there are enough rings/emblems for your whole party. Add more and then the player has to pick and choose, which wouldn't be horrible, but maybe they want to avoid that for the first playthru.
As well, the number 12 has many connections to history, lore, and legends.
I'm still excited for the game and story. I think having the emblems be evil adds a neat twist. We are used to these heroes being on the side of good. How will it effect them to be used for evil purposes?

Part of me is actually hoping they'll do a "good/bad ending" split like they've done in games like FE6 & FE12, where the Hero doesn't gather all the emblem rings or you don't gather supports from all the kingdoms. At least, that's what I hope happens.
The designs for some of the characters are peculiar, but meh, I can say that for a lot of Fire Emblem characters.
I did chuckle when you mentioned how FE10s Ike lost his beef. However, considering his Fates animation, this isn't that surprising.
My biggest annoyance is that they aren't consistent with what we've seen so far. Ike doesn't have Urvan, Lucina doesn't have Thögn, and Lyn has Mulagir/Murgleis instead of either of her Katti weapons. I mean, for all we know, Byleth could appear just like he does in Smash with all 4 main relics. I doubt that's the case, but I wouldn't put it past them.
Obviously, if these are the lords they're showing, they've got a lot of ground to cover, cause not having Alm, Hector, or Dimitri in this game is making me lose interest in the emblems altogether. And yeah, DLC would be nice, but that just means they'll be add-ons to a story that's complete without them, and that's exactly what I DIDN'T want them to do.

After everything they tried to do in Three Houses it's all back down to generic "We're good guys and they're evil bad guys" (not that 3H didn't have that with the Agarthans, but like, Edelgard is the best villain in the franchise), and that flash of "Evil Alear" just gives me even more Awakening 2.0 vibes. This is shaping up to be a game I play for the gameplay, and then put down to return to Fodlan once I finish. Well for me FE has always been a character driven story rather than a narrative story. No matter how bad or lame or cliche the story is if the characters are good and well written enough to take me through that story then im happy. Personally ill rather take this kind of story over 3h story.

It'd be the greatest plot twist if it turned out that flying mage lady actually isn't gonna be playable and was just there in the first trailer symbolically as a "all nations need to stand up against the Fell Dragon and defeat it together".
As for the story of the game, early on I feel like it's gonna have a lot of overlap with Fates, the "evil Alear" we see in this trailer I interpret as this being them in the past, being corrupted and going on a rampage similar to how Corrin went berserk, possibly being the one responsible for wiping out (almost) all the other Divine Dragons, being freed by their mother before being sent to sleep to keep them safe. Then the young girl we saw seems to have more of an Azura-like role at first, being mysterious, somehow related to Alear, all that jazz, while Alear seems to be going around or at least planning a roundtrip to all the different nations of this realm kinda like how Corrin was kinda at points. The parts from presumably later on in the story though feel more reminiscent of Awakenings story, or specifically the 2nd and 3rd arc, where worshipping the Fell Dragon clearly makes that one nation extremely sus, but Alear still tries to do politics and visits them in their castle, and it seems they aren't necessarily out against Alear either... nor does the Fell Dragon seem to be, looking at the scene where Marth gets corrupted with what seems to be the actual Fell Dragon just chilling at the side, possibly because he's trying to turn Alear into an ally as presumably happened in the past... honestly, thinking about it, the scene where those 4 characters come in and say they'll "kill everyone in the castle" seems like it happens in the same location, so possibly, either this happens earlier and we fight against them, or this is actually our ticket to escape that situation, either way it points towards there being a resistance against the cult of the Fell Dragon... and the flying mage lady might just very well be their leader, in that case, she might attack us because she thinks Alear only plays into the cults hands like how it happened with Validar getting the Fire Emblem in Awakening. In that case, the actual fake out is her being a villain in the first place. There also being a Pegasus Rider at the side of the Gharnef of this game also feels like an Awakening-reference, specifically to Aversa of course. Thinking about it, the actual process of uniting the different nations against the Fell Dragon also feels a bit similar to how Chrom went to Regna Ferox to unite with them against Plegia, and later with Plegia to strike back against Valm, a big chunk of the story might be focused around that, ironing out the conflicts between the nations to unite them as the "Lord Divine Dragon".
As for what we saw of the Emblems in this trailer, Ike and Lucina using different weapons than in the mural, I feel like it's hinting towards Emblems also being able to switch weapons? Like, if you give Lucina to a bow-user, she actually uses her bow, same with Ike and an axe-user. The characters they fought with, while not using swords, just didn't use those weapons, although then there's also this being a cutscene so they're probably all going to their default weapons. Since Lucina should also have a lance, all things considered, if they're already giving her the bow. Aside from that, I also find it peculiar how no one looks promoted in that cutscene, which, again, might be due to it being a cutscene, but with at least 3 of the 4 kingdoms seemingly beign united, and at least 3 Emblems gained, it should be a decent bit into the game... which makes me think everything that we saw so far might only be from like a "first half", not necessarily like in 3H where we got a timeskip, but definitely with a climax early on like in Awakening or Binding Blade, although unlike in those games, presumably a climax ending in tragedy, which again a bit closer to 3H.
Overall, I don't expect the story to be amazing like in 3H, definitely more on the simpler side, and these trailers are making me think it'll be at least decent.

I never expected more than 12 hero rings, but I was at least hoping for unique villain rings. Having the heroes turn bad is no replacement for that, since I'm guessing they'll just be brainwashed instead of each hero getting a believable "evil side". They could prove me wrong though.
On the bright side, I absolutely love the clown girl's design. I get that it's the most over-the-top design yet in a game full of over-the-top designs which I myself have some misgivings with, but like... she's a clown, or a jester, or something like that. They're _supposed_ to be colorful and hard to miss, so it works for her. If anything, I'm more upset at all of the other over-the-top designs -- if they weren't there, she'd stand out even more.

this trailer made me more excited for the game actually because it really confirmed that the game is just going for high camp silly fun, as opposed to trying to take itself seriously and ending up ridiculous and cringeworthy. i prefer the more serious fire emblem games, but i feel better about this game knowing it's meant to be a fun anniversary game, and hopefully isn't indicative of the direction of future games. (i'm also hoping that the remake rumours will finally pan out and be announced around when engage releases, since apparently engage has been finished for a long time)

I was somewhat negative on the first trailer. I’m not fan of the designs personally and it felt like a step back in terms of story. With this trailer I’m somewhat more interested. While I still don’t like many of the designs, the villain designs look sick to me. Especially Evil Alear, I had a theory Evil Alear was the original but the heroes changed Alear which is why they have a mix of red and blue and lost their memories, which in that case I would be more ok towards Alear’s design. And the way Marth spoke saying “you were kind, and don’t need to remember all now” felt suspicious and lack of emotion. I actually feel slightly curious on the story after this, but yeah not having all the old FE characters back does feel like a bad move, felt like characters/villains could’ve owned multiple rings at once

Them not bringing all the old characters back was a better choice, you can't justify their presence without hijacking. Even cartoon villain folks like Gharnef have no reason to help the new villains making old villain inclusions feel unneeded. They'd quickly lose their shine as villains and/or overshadow the new ones.

My prediction is Alear was somehow present in every other FE game somehow (either in some alternate dimension or as a very weak influential force giving the good guys favorable luck or whatever) and thus him having to remember each ring makes sense. I think the bad Alear with red hair indicates that colgate Alear is literally a combination of the "kind" Alear and a berserk Alear, sort of like Corrin in dragon form without a dragonstone.
So maaaaybe it could be a gameplay mechanic where you can use this berserk form and have altered stats and abilities, as well as maybe having a full "kind" form where it's far less aggressive and has greater support abilities, with default Alear being a mix of the two.

Honestly, I love the over the top character designs. As much as I love 3 houses, the characters often looked just really generic.
