Lightning isn't a Thunder spell in any game other than Fates (it's a Light spell, specifically a misspelling of "Lightening"); and even in Fates it's not normal Lightning, since it's blue-purple sparks.
To be fair to Camilla's lightning, Olwen's S-rank ring isn't a guarantee to obtain. Part of that is the fact that it's rng and the other thing is that Leif is only available from the end of chapter 8 until the end of chapter 10, and then he comes back after chapter 17.
@@LinkKing7 Remember that Bond Rings, not only are RNG (and still RNG when using the exploit to save Bond Points), but using a Bond Ring only nets you half the SP, instead of 100% the SP you get from using an Emblem ring. Further, while some of the Bond Rings have a single ability (and only some on the S rank ones), Emblem Rings of course have multiple abilities that are always active on top of an Engage mode for further boosts.
If you run a crit build, and adds even more utility- if you're guaranteed to crit, that also means you're guaranteed an additional 10 damage. You may not *need* that affect all the time, but It really helps when you do!
My favorite Soren build is actually as a Dual Assister on a Hero. Since Chain Attacks always do a flat 5% Max HP and Heroes have the class skill Brave Assist, putting Soren on will allow your Hero to have a 70% chance to hit a unit in a roughly 15 tile radius for 10% of their max HP, making them an absurd chain attacker. However, the tome damage will usually be pitiful, so the usage of Brave Assist Soren is limited, but I highly recommend it anyways.
The "more likely" to be targeted means they WILL BE targeted if possible. I had three flyers that could be one shot by a bow and the assign decoy saved them
Commenting before I get to the build segment of the video, but holy hell, diamant with hector might be the best character in the game now thanks to Sol. He will probably need pair up so he doesn't get chain attacked to death, but if he got that, you just put him in the middle of a bunch of enemies with a killing edge or killer axe, and watch as he goes to town, especially if you somehow manage to make it storms eye+ (though that seems to be difficult without also splitting enemy attention between the character using hector and the one using lyn)
worth noting that dragonic hex and anima focus STACK. with cataclysm, that is -7 defense, -20 hit, -2 move (or minus 4 for a wolf knight), and minus 4 to all other base stats. -7 defense is enough to crack almost any emeny open like an egg.
obviously dat mined specifics are ideal, but from personal maddening experience, Soren's Targeting mechanic let me create instances where I *knew* without a doubt that, my low hp Framme for instance, would get hit and die, which in my experience kills are prioritized, and she was instead ignored for my Targeted Great Aether Ike, who then killed four enemies Given how much I much I went on to use this exact thing I almost wonder if that skill was explicitly designed for unit cohesion with the Ike emblem
My fear is that having the dlc makes the game too easy and is not balanced around it at all, which is a shame since i like the characters :/ (for example when youre limited to 2 emblems suddenly having 5 more through DLC is gonna be a massive boost in power)
From my experience the game isn’t really balanced atleast on Hard or lower difficulty. On maddening theres an oppurtunity cost thats advantageous for the player since mid-game you’re left with two emblem and as of today you can turn that into 7. Which makes the experience less maddening of course. Yet endgame parties can be broken with the 12 emblems alone. Lyn exists
While you're correct that having them makes the game easier with the exception of edelgard, they're all a risk to get. I still have cold sweats about tiki's paralouge If I were to replay this game on maddening, I'd only have edelgard. Hector's is the only one I don't consider horrifying and I think you need to beat tiki's to unlock his
Also all these new emblems have bonuses if you use them next to certain other emblems. Like Tiki/Marth, Edelgard/Byleth. As follows Hector/Lynn, Soren/Ike and Camilla/Coren. Not exactly sure what the bonus is but I will test it when I get off work
Once I found out boots was locked behind the pass Im afraid I’ll have to budget for the expansion dlc. I may wait until Chrobin gets here so that I can have time to get into the content before the final wave arrives. Either way Im thumbs up for this dlc as it puts intelligent systems closer to making a perfect FE4 remake in which they have my full faith and support (S rank if you will).
There's a niche I found out for Hector, try a wyvern Rider. They have 83 base Hp, High Dex, High strength, high defense, and magic/res is not actually garbo so you can use the runic sword and I did inherit additional res from Micaiah which leads to 37 res when attacked, without any other bonuses. Maybe niche, but solid
the one thing i find hilarious about Soren is not only did we finally get the magic equivalent of Sol, "Flare" back after all these years(the last appearance of it was Radiant Dawn, so long ago) its literally just better Sol in every way on mystical units like Sages despite the fact its limited to 4 turns- Anima focus seems like a really nice inheritable ability for mages without a doubt, it gives some very nice effects depending on the spell used. break recoverydoesn't seem very useful cuz the chances of intentionally breaking the enemy is low in the mid-late game, not to mention you're more likely to one shot them with killer weapons or other things like doubling- Soren's deff very nice. I'm deff happy to see Camilla as a Malig Knight, seriously thats one of the most unique classes in the series, i'm happy she's in. Hector, his heavy attack skill actually.. seems only useful if you used Ike or roy's engrave on generals who're already slow and don't mind the penalty. however, if we consider maxed stats like a unit's class's max build stat, there might be a few strats like Sages for example. Sages have a max 11 build and can be weighted down pretty easily by their strongest tomes. its pretty interesting. these bracelets may be busted but they deff open up a lot of diff potential. I can't wait for Chrom+Robin but especially Veronicas
@@mira12825 ah so its only physical attacks- mm yup in that case i don't see too much use out of it aside from generals with ike/roy's engrave, thats probably the most beneficial it'd get for sure
Only thing I didn't hear is if next to their games engage, theirs upgrades, like Hector gets auto vengeance with Lyn, Camilla goes from a checker board patten, does a 7X7 with 5 spaces free in the middle, I forget Sorens bonus with Ike is though
Yeah, I forgot to mention the bonus effects, and honestly, completely forgot they existed in the game consider how you need to intentionally set them up
Dark inferno is really nice for killing a few units that just have chip damage left, breaking lance users, and getting a bit of extra damage simultaneously. I used it a lot to clean up when other units missed their crits or when Lucina's pair up didn't proc.
More than anything I want the new classes so I can plan for them. I saw on Soren's map the enchanter class. What were the others? Scrambling my brain box on who I should make into an enchanter but I'd need growth rates
I think the other one that was leaked I saw was Magic Cannon, but I don't remember seeing any others and I don't think we have the info on growth rates yet, I checked.
Imo Camilla's soar ability kind of makes up for not having Sigurd since while plus 2 isn't exactly as much as plus 5 it's still a good boost. I can see this being good on mage knights who get the extra mov while also basically being flying mages like the elusia sisters and on seadall to be like Sigurd seadall with the bonus of making the qi adept tiles that increase mov as well
"Gasp" Panette with a Brave Axe...FINALLY YOU WILL BE LEGENDARY NOT JUST AMAZING! Soren "may" replace Lyn on Ivy. Now if I only had more bond fragments to make use of anything...lol
your weapon on defence litterally doesnt matter either way, theres no avoid/hit bonus and you cant break on defence, and break immunity means you also wont be broken regardless what weapon your using.
"developer intended" lol.. what a stupid thing to say. DLCs are NOT cheats and neither are they mods.. u fool. And dlc wave 1 was released literally on day 1(ONE).. just as hurr dur "dEvs iNtEnDeD"
Decisive Strike should've just been Savage Blow, honestly! AoE damage around target after combat based on max HP. If that was too strong, make it so it's only with a crit!
Unfortunately not, the minute you buy the DLC it forces the resources into your inventory. If you don't want to use them, just make note of what you get and don't use them
There isn't really a fixed verdict. Because this game has class changing, it's pretty flexible. I'd put hector on your main tank, or a slow offense unit, Soren on your mages and Camilla on your cavalry or flying units.
So fun fact about the runesword, it doesnt use the units magic at all, it uses their str/2, so it's actually really bad on mages, I was really sad about this lmao.
This is what happens when I'm on a crunch mission to get the video out ASAP. I'm just glad the black censor boxes were tight enough to prevent spoilers and I didn't miss any of those!
I'm not sure what point you are in the game, but I did these in the post game and while they had annoying gimmicks, they weren't too tough with your full set of emblem rings. What part are you struggling with specifically?
@@LinkKing7 I just figured my units were basically shit back then lmao, so I restarted the whole run and it was more manageable. 😂 Camilla’s paralogue is still the most annoying so I just not do her paralogue since I don’t think I need her emblem. Corrin’s dragon vein is much better anyways.
I guess I forgot to mention it, but when QR has the 60% threshold and Vantage has the 75% one, so very expensive build, they'll both be active at the same time. Even if you're not at the highest thresholds, you can use vantage to heal you above it and maintain. Of course, you can swap one or the other, up to you!
I don't really care about the effectiveness of the dlc emblems much, they're good and fun of course, but they're worth it to me because the battles they introduce are fun as hell
Camilla seems like a Swordmaster setup for enemy phasing, honestly. Stone Pillar Dragon Vein to patch Swordmaster's crummy defense, the damage per crit actually matters to some extent on Maddening when Swordmasters have weak Str, and further good defensive stats, and some incidental healing/chip damage with Inferno when required. Also, I want to do Flashing Fist Art with Hector so bad since you can actually make it have reasonable Mt with Hector's weight to damage conversion, so you end up with a true double hit Silver-tier weapon and Flashing Fist compensates you for the lost SPD. Problem is getting the weapon weight high enough without resorting to Roy Engrave (which tank your Avo) - it might only be possible with Framme to tank your BLD specifically and might still be terrible due to being made of wet paper, but goddamn it, I will make it work.
The Poison Strike effect on crit when initiating isn't that strong when you can just take Marisa's Lethality bond ring for a flat 30% chance of instakill on any crit in either phase. The units that don't kill on crit are usually units like swordsmasters and thieves being forced to fight stuff like generals and great knights.
my overall issue with the dlc is that so far. I just dont see its as overall worth it yet. Like the emblems are nice additions, but do I really need to spend the $30 for some extra toys I dont actually need? I beat the game just fine without them. I dont know, hopefully the Xenologue will be more up my alley. But im still not expecting too much from it.
Poor Leif, Hector just completely took over what niche he had. The worst thing is that, since his Impenetrable buff happens DURING combat and isn't displayed out of it, it should trick Maddening AI to attack even when it would deal 0 damage

The “this is Hector, not Sigurd” with the playing with fire comment was so uncalled for but I love it, peak comedy 👏
Adaptability+ with Engaged Ike using either Ragnell or Urvan makes the bonus +8 which is huge honestly
Hector already has Armads to give with +5, but the extra 3 really isn't anything crazy IMO
@@LinkKing7 I like it but I'm also a very different kind of player, and I think it might only go to Diamant (Ike) for me and that's just for survivability for Great Aether. It's not super amazing to me but I feel like it's more to it than meets the eye
I Never noticed the short period you have leif
yeah honestly that wasn't an a fair take. Plus why would you use bond rings over emblem rings anyways?
That's true, I just figured the knowledge is so widespread on how to save scum for the rings that most people have used it to grab Olwen
@@LinkKing7 Remember that Bond Rings, not only are RNG (and still RNG when using the exploit to save Bond Points), but using a Bond Ring only nets you half the SP, instead of 100% the SP you get from using an Emblem ring. Further, while some of the Bond Rings have a single ability (and only some on the S rank ones), Emblem Rings of course have multiple abilities that are always active on top of an Engage mode for further boosts.
camellia's decisive strike helps clean up- if you hit an armour and leave it barely hanging on, it just dies. It doesn't leave them at one hp.
Timerra and Hector might just be a god.
The "more likely" to be targeted means they WILL BE targeted if possible. I had three flyers that could be one shot by a bow and the assign decoy saved them
It's starting to look like that the more I see it
Commenting before I get to the build segment of the video, but holy hell, diamant with hector might be the best character in the game now thanks to Sol.
A forged thunder tome with olwen is better.....
Bold of you to assume we have olwen.
IF you have it I guess
obviously dat mined specifics are ideal, but from personal maddening experience, Soren's Targeting mechanic let me create instances where I *knew* without a doubt that, my low hp Framme for instance, would get hit and die, which in my experience kills are prioritized, and she was instead ignored for my Targeted Great Aether Ike, who then killed four enemies
Given how much I much I went on to use this exact thing I almost wonder if that skill was explicitly designed for unit cohesion with the Ike emblem
My fear is that having the dlc makes the game too easy and is not balanced around it at all, which is a shame since i like the characters :/ (for example when youre limited to 2 emblems suddenly having 5 more through DLC is gonna be a massive boost in power)
I'm hoping that the extra DLC story in the 4th release is balanced to the new emblems
Lyn exists
Mine is related to missing out story pieces by not having DLC. Hopefully the extended story to come isnt completely tied to DLC.
I mean. Have fun unlocking the emblems on maddning still. It ain't easy
While you're correct that having them makes the game easier with the exception of edelgard, they're all a risk to get.
I still have cold sweats about tiki's paralouge
If I were to replay this game on maddening, I'd only have edelgard. Hector's is the only one I don't consider horrifying and I think you need to beat tiki's to unlock his
Camellia and Veronica are my favorite DLC characters
Use Camilla oin Veyle. Seems like the only worthwhile strategy, but admittedly that's a really good combination with Alear!Corrin.
I was able to solo the three new paralogues with Alear on Maddening with Avoid +30 and Pair Up as my skills
Hector's piercing glare also highkey negates enemy backup swarming, as most enemy backups don't have ranged weapons.
Very good point!
Diamant with Pair Up and a Lyn's engrave Tomahawk: Let them come
Also all these new emblems have bonuses if you use them next to certain other emblems. Like Tiki/Marth, Edelgard/Byleth. As follows Hector/Lynn, Soren/Ike and Camilla/Coren. Not exactly sure what the bonus is but I will test it when I get off work
What are the effects of the tiki/Marth combo and edelgard/byleth?
@@The7SeeD idk tiki and marth but i know edel and byleth grants the user of edel engage attack another move
Tiki+marth restores the engage meter back to full, even when engaged
Once I found out boots was locked behind the pass Im afraid I’ll have to budget for the expansion dlc. I may wait until Chrobin gets here so that I can have time to get into the content before the final wave arrives. Either way Im thumbs up for this dlc as it puts intelligent systems closer to making a perfect FE4 remake in which they have my full faith and support (S rank if you will).
Wait boots are DLC exclusive? I thought you got one in one of the later chapters at least?
@@danielsimmich1858 you do.
@@danielsimmich1858 one pair is dlc exclusive. The other is in game.
There are two pairs of boots in the game that aren't DLC, and an extra 3rd one if you DO get the DLC
Camillia turns my Mage Knight Ana into a flyer with no weakness
Idk, pretty hyped for Camilla. A big pile of res and speed along with a ton of utility/movement is a pretty solid combo.
she was made for ivy. Ivy's speed needs help.
There's a niche I found out for Hector, try a wyvern Rider.
They have 83 base Hp,
High Dex, High strength, high defense, and magic/res is not actually garbo so you can use the runic sword and I did inherit additional res from Micaiah which leads to 37 res when attacked, without any other bonuses.
Maybe niche, but solid
I can’t believe Mommy is coming to engage
the one thing i find hilarious about Soren is not only did we finally get the magic equivalent of Sol, "Flare" back after all these years(the last appearance of it was Radiant Dawn, so long ago)
its literally just better Sol in every way on mystical units like Sages despite the fact its limited to 4 turns-
Anima focus seems like a really nice inheritable ability for mages without a doubt, it gives some very nice effects depending on the spell used.
break recoverydoesn't seem very useful cuz the chances of intentionally breaking the enemy is low in the mid-late game,
not to mention you're more likely to one shot them with killer weapons or other things like doubling- Soren's deff very nice.
Heavy attack only applies to physical attacks, so it can't be used for tomes and magic weapons like levin sword.
@@mira12825 ah so its only physical attacks-
mm yup in that case i don't see too much use out of it aside from generals with ike/roy's engrave, thats probably the most beneficial it'd get for sure
I held back from getting the dlc but after Hector being announced I couldn't hold back. Beat lord in FE hands down
I can't wait for chrom and Robin, should be a cool one.
Also if you're worried about decisive strike being bad the damage from decisive strike can kill the enemy if the combat didn't kill
I didn't test it, but I don't think out of combat skill damage kills last I checked. Is this confirmed?
@@LinkKing7 yes it is confirmed
More than anything I want the new classes so I can plan for them.
I saw on Soren's map the enchanter class. What were the others? Scrambling my brain box on who I should make into an enchanter but I'd need growth rates
I think the other one that was leaked I saw was Magic Cannon, but I don't remember seeing any others and I don't think we have the info on growth rates yet, I checked.
It has Camilla… It’s ABSOLUTELY Beyond Worth It
Hell yeah brother!
@@AnimeCollectorEric See this guy gets it
Imo Camilla's soar ability kind of makes up for not having Sigurd since while plus 2 isn't exactly as much as plus 5 it's still a good boost.
I can see this being good on mage knights who get the extra mov while also basically being flying mages like the elusia sisters and on seadall to be like Sigurd seadall with the bonus of making the qi adept tiles that increase mov as well
Omg I just realized we will live in a world where Seadall can fly!!!!
"Gasp" Panette with a Brave Axe...FINALLY YOU WILL BE LEGENDARY NOT JUST AMAZING!
Soren "may" replace Lyn on Ivy. Now if I only had more bond fragments to make use of anything...lol
Dlc pack 2 gives you free bond fragments
@@KINGD353 I'll have to load it up and see how many. Have enough for S rank rings but got bored doing it.
your weapon on defence litterally doesnt matter either way, theres no avoid/hit bonus and you cant break on defence, and break immunity means you also wont be broken regardless what weapon your using.
Ice floor dragon vein. Ahh stride youre just as beautiful as the day I lost you.
When I land a critical hit, it's when the enemy has like 1-5 hitpoints. :D
I won't get the dlc yet. Want to have a "developer intended" maddening run first.
"developer intended" lol.. what a stupid thing to say.
DLCs are NOT cheats and neither are they mods.. u fool.
And dlc wave 1 was released literally on day 1(ONE).. just as hurr dur "dEvs iNtEnDeD"
thanks for this
You're welcome!
I wonder if the new skill Anima Focus from Soren gets applied with chain attacks, assuming you have Lucina on the magic unit
Good call, I'd have to test it and see, but that would be VERY interesting if so
@@LinkKing7 Sadly it does not seem to be the case, just tried testing it myself but didn't see any debuffs from any of the tomes.
They gave Hector rune sword because in FE6, he was slain by Narcian.
I think the season pass is worth it for tiki alone. A real game changer
Yeah she's fantastic!
Decisive Strike should've just been Savage Blow, honestly! AoE damage around target after combat based on max HP. If that was too strong, make it so it's only with a crit!
Lol Camilla’s here for all the brothers still trying to get dire thunder 😭😭
Are you going to do tiki and edlegard. Can only find videos of the base game and wave 2 on everyone’s channels
I'll do full coverage of all the DLC including those two once the last wave comes out!
Shocking that Hector took half the video compared to the rest.
He had a lot of interesting tech to talk about, even though Soren is arguable the strongest bracelet
Is it possible to get the dlc emblems WITHOUT receiving the p2w resources?
Unfortunately not, the minute you buy the DLC it forces the resources into your inventory. If you don't want to use them, just make note of what you get and don't use them
@@LinkKing7 oh well :(
Would decisive strike+ break hold out and do extra chip damage after taking a life bar from a boss?
I guess it could do that, I didn't test it so I can't confirm but that might work
@@LinkKing7 I’m betting it can’t collect kills, just like other out of combat damage (fire, poison strike).
So what’s the verdict: who are you putting there DLC rings on? I need to know definitively what characters. Thanks
There isn't really a fixed verdict. Because this game has class changing, it's pretty flexible. I'd put hector on your main tank, or a slow offense unit, Soren on your mages and Camilla on your cavalry or flying units.
I'm going to meme Heavy Attack with fist weapons
So fun fact about the runesword, it doesnt use the units magic at all, it uses their str/2, so it's actually really bad on mages, I was really sad about this lmao.
Even with alacrity+ still no go with smash weapons?
Yup, if you can't double in the first place, Alacrity won't do anything
Caught the editing typo, left the "Nosferatu" bit in there twice (once when you mispronounced it lol) Good job overall, tho
This is what happens when I'm on a crunch mission to get the video out ASAP. I'm just glad the black censor boxes were tight enough to prevent spoilers and I didn't miss any of those!
Any tips on how to beat their divine paralogue on maddening, it’s so hard tbh with the exception of Hector’s coz his was easier
How does quick ripose and vantage work together?
I guess I forgot to mention it, but when QR has the 60% threshold and Vantage has the 75% one, so very expensive build, they'll both be active at the same time. Even if you're not at the highest thresholds, you can use vantage to heal you above it and maintain. Of course, you can swap one or the other, up to you!
@@LinkKing7 I see, thanks :D
I don't really care about the effectiveness of the dlc emblems much, they're good and fun of course, but they're worth it to me because the battles they introduce are fun as hell
Your Wolf Knight+Soren combo don't work, since you need dagger to do the -2 mov and wind to do the other -2 mov.
That's.... exactly what I said, they STACK when done separately and I said a dagger unit need to do attack separately as well
@@LinkKing7 oh ok, I guess useful to keep boss in a place
What about Eliwood?
Better then three houses dlc shit also Chrom and Camilla worth it
also I use camilla on jade and turn her into the god damn iron man
my overall issue with the dlc is that so far. I just dont see its as overall worth it yet. Like the emblems are nice additions, but do I really need to spend the $30 for some extra toys I dont actually need? I beat the game just fine without them.
I dont know, hopefully the Xenologue will be more up my alley. But im still not expecting too much from it.
Can you get the dlc without completing the story?
yea of course. the dlcs all unlock after chapter 6 or so.. u gotta finish Anna' paralogue tho which unlocks a new island for all the dlc maps
Yup, it all unlocks after chapter 6
Lifesphere++ and quick riposte 🤔
Poor Leif, Hector just completely took over what niche he had. The worst thing is that, since his Impenetrable buff happens DURING combat and isn't displayed out of it, it should trick Maddening AI to attack even when it would deal 0 damage
I will respectfully say Camila is always worth it
