  • Time to start cranking out all the proper engage content and we're kicking it off with a full weapon forging and refining guide! In this video I'm covering everything to do with making the GENERIC weapons, so no Legendary or Unique Named weapons covered in this video because those are relatively straightforward. Let me know if this is helpful and what you think in the comments below!

    Couple of corrections that have been pointed out by you helpful people in the comments:
    1- Hand Arts all have the brave effect except Initiate and Shield Art, that's my bad, the description is inconsistent across them all so just a heads up!
    2- The price required to upgrade from the first tier to the final tier is NOT added with each step, what you see on the final step is the TOTAL. Sorry for the confusion!

      Extra tip for new players: Most weapons become available to buy in the mid game. Not sure the exact chapter. You may be better off saving your iron/steel/silver on upgrading to +1/2/3/4/5 then going from steel to silver or most special weapons. Special weapons like the Wyrmadon / Levin Sword.
      I made a wyrmadon early using my only 2 silver to go from steel to silver to wydmadon thinking it would be a great investment. I wanted it for the Tiki DLC map and it was helpful. But didn't use it again until I could buy the weapon at the shop anyways.

      It’s pretty bad actually. Trying to find out what the “hidden weapons” are just robs your early crafting materials, then you get those weapons immediately anyway. The dogs fur determines the type of ingot found.
    From the first areas of the game the normal dog always finds iron, the white dog always finds steel and the black dogs always find silver. And this is after every battle for the most part, including paralogues and skirmishes. Take advantage.

    • @Naticus
      @Naticus Год назад +64

      I have an assortment of regular, white, and black dogs grazing, and I can tell you some correct info. The regular dog finds iron most of the time, but can indeed find steel and silver every once in awhile. The white dog finds steel more often than the regular dog, but can still finds iron more often than steel, and silver sometimes. And the black dog finds silver more often than the first two dogs, but still finds iron and steel more often than silver.

      As an extra side note, silver is the best item for these dogs to find because you can trade one piece of silver in for either 90 pieces of iron or 9 pieces of steel. Since silver isn't really used until later this is far more reliable than the drops from skirmishes

    • @andrewjones1395
      @andrewjones1395 Год назад +2

      Glad to see everyone reaching the same conclusion here, I thought brown/white/black did give unique drops, until one time I needed Iron and literally only got silver from my 5 dogs, only 2 were black. At that point, I figured it might be more likely to just say dogs give ores, not specifically iron/steel/silver.

    Something to note about the martial arts weapons is that their damage is based on half of strength and magic combined. Usually, weapons are either strength only or magic only. Magic weapons like Levin Sword are magic only. So, if you think emblem/bond rings that give both strength and magic are kind of lacking, you can put them on a martial arts user to leverage both stats. Any might bonuses help since most of the martial arts weapons are brave effects. Gets crazy when you hit people 4-8x in a row.

They only cost a total of 200 Iron 20 Steel and 1 Silver each (plus 4k gold). It is absolutely worth it, because you can auto promote Citrinne after chapter 7 and she can use both at that point. This is easily the best thing to focus on in Maddening first since it's just so useful.

    It's a little sad that some the more out there and unique refines and upgrades from SoV like the Rhomphia, Saurion, or Ilwoon didn't made it in. Most of the weapon lines are pretty uninteresting mostly consisting of Iron, Steel, Silver, Brave with magic and killing branches. Daggers, Tomes, and fists got the worst of it in terms of creative forging.

    The video stated it takes 38 Silver to get a Silver Sword from base to +5 by totaling up 1+2+5+10+20 for each step.
    This is not correct. 20 is the number of silver it takes to go directly from a Silver Sword to a Silver Sword +5. Same with the other materials and gold.
    Think of it this way: A Silver Sword +5 is a Silver Sword that contains 20 pieces of Silver. A Silver Sword +3 is a Silver Sword that contains 5 Pieces of Silver. So to make a Silver Sword +3 into a Silver Sword +5 requires adding 15 more pieces of silver, since it already has 5.
    The game uses this interface pretty consistently throughout the game. You can see this in the arena raising bond levels, or using SP to purchase Emblem skills. Speed+1 I think costs 100SP. Speed +2 costs 200SP. But if you have speed +1 already, it will only cost an additional 100SP to get speed +2.

    Not entirely related, but anyone else feel like smash weapons were intended for defending and not attacking? I've tried using them and I feel like using them to attack is far too risky with the speed cap being 40s to 50s that its honestly not worth it when enemies are set to always attack first when you're using smash weapons. The only possible exception I can think of where smash could be used offensively is if tempest trial augments on rival weapons works to boost evasion and even then I'm not 100% that's worth it.

      I wouldlike to add, if you use the heavy armor units, like Louis, forging a super strong great lance is amazing since the enemy attacking first doesn't mean much if you take 0 damage. My Louis has a +5 Silver greatlance, with the Radiance, engraving. Its might is absurd.
      Also a +1 on an effective weapon is more valuable than a +1 on a normal weapon. If you are having issues with enemy armors, remember that adding 1 might, to an armor slayer will deal 3 extra damage to armors.
      As long as you are getting a good number of materials, forging killer weapons, and effective weapons will carry you easily.
